Hi, I'm using android Gingerbread (SD) and was downloading some apps from the market when my phone ran out of battery. Now when I reboot there is a constant notification in the notification bar which says that my download is in progress, but the progress bar doesn't move, and I don't know how to get rid of it. Even tried rebooting, but it doesn't change
Go to Market and uninstall those apps and then install it again. If the apps already installed but the Market is still saying it's in downloading progress, then download Easy Uninstaller to uninstall it and then install the apps from the Market.
I went to the market and it shows the apps on 'My Apps' as Free (as opposed to installed, like the rest of the apps). Oddly though, I only tried to download 3 apps, but in the notification bar it shows the apps I was trying to download 'and 8 more' ?!
Anything that you downloaded from the Market will listed under My apps. Sometime the ROM that you installed have preloaded apps and the Market regconized that under My apps as well. Follow the steps on the above post if the Market got confused on the downloading/stuck/updating apps.
Try going into Settings/Applications/Manage Applications/Market and clear data and cache. Then it should stop constantly always downliading those apps.

I don't quite understand what you mean, but I've left wifi on for a while and it now has reduced the number from 8 to 6 apps to download. I have not got any notifications that they were installed but hopefully it will just clear all the downloads. Only problem is that if the screen turns off it stops downloading, so I have to leave the screen on.
Its in your phones settings under applications. That happens sometimes when ur phone dies with apps being downloaded. Just click on the things i said in the order i listed them and the downliading aops should go away instantly

I don't have the marketplace thing under manage applications, but I used the app in the first reply to sort it out instead. Thanks

My Fascinate is rooted properly
Since then, I've installed SetCPU and Titanium Backup from the market...
Shortly after, my phone stopped being able to Download Apps from the Market...
So I uninstalled both programs
The Market says "Currently Downloading" but the Taskbar never shows it happening, and the little download bar in the App spins for a while and just stops.
I even left a simple game downloading overnight to no avail
I also tried clearing all the caches- download manager, market, etc...
Help!
Try canceling your downloads, logging into Talk, then trying again? Or cancel downloads, reboot, log into google Talk, then open Market

I had the same problem. Clearing all the cache and data for market and google apps worked for me.Though a google search has revealed results may vary.

This happens to me and many many people ALL THE TIME. The worst part is that there is never one reason why this happens or one fix. You just have to be lucky. I AM GETTING SICK AND TIRED OF THIS HAPPENING TO ME AND EVERYONE ELSE. Hopefully when froyo comes or something it will not happen anymore.

@billypunk81 That is a quick google for an answer.
And in the future please use the general forum for any and all questions. Unless you are developing something don't start a thread here.
Also give this a read.
good day.
I had same issue and nothing helped. I froze 'Market' and 'Market Updater' from Titanuim then thawed both right away. Started working after that.
Check and make sure Background Data is on. Maybe it got turned off somehow.
Try removing the 2.2 Market if you have it installed. That's what did it for me.
I ran into this situation when I mistakingly restored the 2.2 Market after flashing jt's clean ROM. To solve this, I removed Vendor.apk and reflashed jt's clean ROM. That fixed things for me.
In my market, it says i have all these apps not installed. But they are all installed. When i click on them it doesnt say install, it says open. The apps run fine n are in my drawer. Is there a way to fix this? Its just really annoying when my "Pro" keys arent being used. Like, titanium backup says im using the free version when i have the pro version installed, same for my launcher pro key.

EDIT: can this be moved to the Q&A section, accidentally put in general. Thank you.
Same thing with me... google maps, youtube, and a few others are in the Not installed section, but when you select them it says installed, and you only have the option to open. I'm assuming they are still being checked for updates when I open Market... at least I hope they are. More annoying than anything else. Any thoughts?
Open up the "Manage Applications" and find Market. Clear the cache and reopen. Should show up now. Had to do that on mine.

I have the same problem, and agree it is annoying.
It started happening when I did a titanium backup after unlocking. So I guess there must have been some problem syncronizing with market after.
I have solved the problem by uninstalling the applications that were listed as needing updates even though they were already updated. And when reinstalled, the notification went away. It's not a very elegant way of fixing the problem, I know.
If anyone else has a better solution, please advise.
I learned this method from another forum (can't remember where); it always works for me:
Exit all applications on the phone
Home > Settings > Applications > Manage Applications > All
Market: Clear Cache, Clear Data (OK)
Google Services Framework: Clear Cache, Clear Data (OK)
Reboot your phone
Open Market app and Accept the TOS
Market > Settings > Content filtering > Set level > Show all apps (OK)
Market > My Apps: no more missing apps, or false positives for updates
I've tested this many times with the new Market app on my AT&T phone in both stock GB and piCRUST. It always fixes the display of installed apps within the Market app itself. But the list of apps showing on the Market web site under My Account (https://market.android.com/account) may not be immediately updated with the results. Sometimes the Market web site will be updated later rather than sooner, or only partially rather than completely. But this local fix will usually affect the web listing to at least some degree.
(Space reserved for future rant on market web site lameness...)
Did it, now i get a server error everytime i open the market. Just reinstall apk of new market?
EDIT: just used task killer to kill it all then retried n it worked. All my apps are saying installed. Thanks so much.

I see that error occasionally after using this fix, but I also sometimes see it after re-flashing the phone, and after other seemingly unrelated actions. It usually goes away for me if I just turn on wireless first before opening the Market app (no need to reinstall it). I think it's related to some error in the app or settings initialization, and not specific to this clean-up routine or anything else.
And yes, I've found that using a task killer also seems to help. Maybe indicative of another app blocking the Market from opening correctly at first run? I don't know, but once it goes away it doesn't seem to come back.
Thanks, this worked flawlessly.
Could I suggest you add "Solved" to the title of this thread so others that might have the same issue could use this?

Got it. Ive had to re do this fix after my phone shuts off, so its not permanent on my device. It might be for you, either way, it fixes it for awhile.

One other thing that will confuse the Market about what's kosher: using a non-standard LCD density.
In my case I had hard-coded build.prop to set ro.sf.lcd_density=300 and ever since I did that the Market website kept telling me that most of the apps I'd previously installed were not compatible with my Atrix 4G(!) My workaround was to revert to the default ro.sf.lcd_density=240 and then use the "LCDDensity" app to temporarily set it to 300. Whenever I need to go to the Market for something I just reboot the phone first and it reverts back to the default setting in build.prop.
If you've got it the other way around (e.g. build.prop is using a non-default setting, and you're using LCDDensity to override this back to the default), then that might explain why you're seeing this Market mischief return on reboot.
Even if you're not using LCDDensity (or you're using something else like "LCD Density Changer" which can make these changes permanent), you might want to check your current LCD density. Ditto for other property settings that might not be using their defaults.
Here's a list of all the things that the Market looks for to determine if a particular phone is compatible with an app:

Has anyone else had the problem where you're browsing the market on your a500, click to download an app, and it simply doesn't download?
About 70% of the time (conservative estimate) the "taskbar" shows that an app is downloading, but the "My Apps" panel in the market doesn't show that download. If I leave it alone, the taskbar reports that the download completed, but I don't see the app anywhere. I also noticed that if I'm browsing the market on my PC and I send an app to be downloaded on my tablet, if the "My Apps" panel isn't open on the tablet, the app will not download.
I'm running the stock OTA 3.1 ROM.
I get that a lot. I am forced to hit back and then select install or download the app a 2nd time. Not sure why.
I have always had this same problem ,even after updates from the Market. I hate the Market. It turns into a major thing just trying to download anything. It's very frustrating and takes 10 minutes of trying, trying again, cussing, connection time outs. Its pretty bad when we have a Android device and its a Android market and they still can't get it right. Maybe it's a Honeycomb thing? Maybe they should call apple and get some advice?
> I am forced to hit back and then select install or download the app a 2nd time. Not sure why.
+1
common issue
Go into settings
Application
Manage applications
Browse to the market app
Clear app data.
This will sometimes fix that issue but only for a while
Worked for me
Good luck
I've had the same problem. Running Taboonay custom ROM version 2.0.
market
Same here have had that problem and so does wife. I get a kick out of wife she gets frustrated and impatient and swears at it.....lmao
So for a while there I was having the same issue. I went into clock work recovery and wipe dcache and battery stats and now all is well again. I would recommend that.

My issues seems to be that when I try to pull down an app, it tells me that it is unable to purchase. And suggestions?
I've had that a few times where I couldn't purchase an app. I found that purchasing through the online market works fine and auto-installs into the right device. It might have something to do with the lack of phone and IMEI number; could be wrong though.
Also, buying stuff with my phone then installing on my tablet works fine.
Go to settings applications Tonto market app then clear . Simple fix. Simple fix
Tried all this stuff still dont work
So i tried all this stuff and it still wont even download anymore it just FC when i click the my apps button FC this is really annoying. Went to market on pc it even says the app is installed on my device and it is soooooo not. Saw on another thread someone said Google was blacklisting users they know are rooted which i think is just dumb and dont believe, who cares what we do to the device we are still running android and want to purchase apps from the store. super lame well gonna try few other things then guess reinstall rom and kernel and see if that helps thank got for titanium backup
Hello, I have a lot of market app that showing an update eventhough it is updated already. Like when I click them there's no update option only open and uninstall. It annoys me so much that's why when I select 'my apps' on the market I have to tap each app to see if there is already a legitimate updates. It is 3.1.6, I'm encountering this even on 3.1.5...
Any solution to this?
I've get this too, been driving me up the wall!
Clearing cache, wiping market data etc, nothing stops it
I had this happen also and thought I was the crazy one.
Personally i hate the new market app upgrade.
It shows very few of the apps i actually have installed, therefore i have to manually search each app to find out if there is an update available.
Therefore, i just found it better to keep to uninstall my market update, stick with the old market app and freeze the market updater.
I found the new market app far too slow anyway.
Its the new market and on all Android phones, very annoying and seems to be getting worse too

Hi there,
For some strange reason when I go to my apps in the android market the list on the left hand side shows all the apps I have on my device, but it says that they are not installed! I have the option to install them again (even though they are installed) but when I press install it just opens the app instead but the list does not change it just still looks like it's not installed.
it's like the market is not recognizing that I have the apps installed. I know it seems very confusing.
Any body else encountered this problem befor?

This.
Randomly happened to me a few days ago. Said my mobile had nothing in it. If you try and install via web browser, it will say this error.
Tried clearing the cache but it's still the same. Tried installing through the browser but it's still the same, I get an error saying app already exists.
lists still show nothing is installed even though they are! lol!
This market really has some strange behaviour :-\
