[Q] Factory Settings? - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

Hi, I know that to take off the custom roms, you need to flash the stock rom but how do you remove android, clockwork mod, and magldr off the phone? my phone has been acting up and i need to send it back through the hd2 insurance but i need to reset everything first. Thank you!

i need help how i can restore all settings plz help me

Download the spesific rom for your device from the HTC website. Eg if you are on the HD2 o2, you would download that rom. It comes as an .exe file.
Right click on the file and extract the contents to someware on your desktop, look for the .nbh file. Cant quite remember the name but it will be the biggest file. Rename it to leoimg.nbh and copy it on to your SD card.
Make sure it is the correct rom for your phone or it wont work.
Once you have done this reboot the phone and hold the volume down button at the same time to get into the boot loader. It will then prompt you to install the rom. This will remove everything and restore back to factory default for you and reinstate your warrenty!

Next time you shoud use the search button. If you had did this you had found this thread about it http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1066852&highlight=restore+factory
Good luck!

In order to continue proper drivers must be installed. Check if when connecting usb there is on screen "USB". However if you install the exe file your SPL will not be restored to original.
If you want to return it to factory you need to do it via SD card. Or by exe but you then have to install SPL manually.
Try again, rename the largest nbh file to leoimg.nbh put it to sdcard root and reboot to bootloader.
Bootloader is the one with 4 different colors. To boot powerup phone and hold Volume Down key.

There is "USB" on the screen and I believe i have the proper divers installed.
I downloaded the 3.14 t-mobile official rom and renamed the largest file (.nbh) to leoimg.nbh (and i tried LEOIMG.nbh, if it makes a difference for the CAPS) but nothing appeared on the bootloader screen. I tried to install the rom by the .exe file because i would rather get the official rom on so i can remove hspl manually but the "Next" button is grayed out. It won't let me go onto the next step. :/

What size sd card did you use? It usually wont work on a card bigger than four gigabytes. Try it on a class two, four gigabyte or less micro sd card.
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA App

i tried using a smaller sd card (4 gigabytes) and had no luck. the "next" button is still voided out..

How to unroot G1.....i've read 3 different methods, which one is correct?

This method does it in 3 steps

Another thread mentioned putting R29 on like the first two methods, then loading another radio I think.
One other method said to just put R29 then goto settings and tell it to manually update the rest. Will this do it in a few minutes?
A friend of mine wanted me to unroot his phone so I don't want to brick it by doing it the wrong way.
Both are using the same method really. It's using the DREAIMG.nbh file to bring it back to stock. It just depends on which DREAIMG.nbh file you use.
so there is different DREAIMG.nbh files?

I was thinking there was only one. Ok great. I wonder why there isn't one that can flash right to 1.6 with current radio and all the bells and whistles.

I haven't seen a 1.6 yet but I do know that there is a 1.5. Below are steps that'll get you to 1.1 and then to 1.5
Taken from here
Code:
Downgrading your G1 to Cupcake 1.5
Load the DreaIMG.nbh File
1. Download the Original DreaIMG.nbh file:
[URL="http://www.megaupload.com/?d=XXSQ0T7W"]Original DREAIMG.nbh[/URL]
2. Extract the .zip file to get the DreamIMG.nbh file. Place the .nbh file in the root of your sd card. (root = not in any folders)
Note: Make sure your sd card is partition as FAT32 or your phone will not detect the .nbh files.
To Format:
- Load your SD card in the card reader and connect to PC.
- Make sure you back up everything on your card. a format will erase all data on the card.
- Now open “My Computer” and right click on the drive with the SD card (Warning! Make sure its the correct drive).
- Click on Format and select FAT32 on the file system drop down and click then click Start.
- Once completed, Copy your files back to the SD card and make sure the “Original DREAIMG.nbh” is at the topmost folder of your SD card.
3. Turn the phone off if it is on.
4. Turn on the phone by holding the Camera button and the End key until the bootloader screen turns on.
5. Hit the End key to start the update. DO NOT INTERUPT THIS PROCESS.
6. Once it is done, hit the trackball to restart the phone. You now are on the stock firmware RC29. You must do the next section to get back to cupcake.
Get Back to Cupcake
1. Download the cupcake update from [URL="http://android-roms.googlecode.com/files/signed-kila-ota-148830.de6a94ca.zip"]HERE[/URL]
2. Rename the .zip file to update.zip
Note: Make sure its update.zip not update.zip.zip. If you cannot update rename your file to update not update.zip
3. Turn off your phone
4. Hold the HOME key while pressing the POWER key
5. You will see a "!" which means you are in recovery
6. Open your keyboard and type alt+l to see text
7. Type alt+s to updpate
8. Congrats you have now downgraded your phone to the Cupcake 1.5 OS
Yea just load DREAIMG.nbh and that will downgrade your build/spl/radio. And then you can go here http://androidoverdrive.com/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=85 and upgrade to 1.6 for non rooted phones.

which hspl do i need

i have stock spl 2.10.0000 which version spl do i need to flash?
I presume with that spl that you have a TMO US 1024 HD2? You'll need to try to revert to spl 2.08.0000 before you can use HSPL_1024.
Flash an earlier version of the TMO US rom (ie the 2.10 rom) from the sd card. You can find it here - http://www.4shared.com/dir/22189940/b8552fa0/Shipped_Leo_ROMs.html
hey thx for replying back so fast but when i goto link i dont undetsyand which file to click. also i posted in the mod hack upgrade section and no one answered do u think you could check that out?
Click on the Leo 2.10 folder - inside you will find the rom file (2 parts) - RUU_Leo_1_5_TMOUS_2.10.531.0_Radio_Signed_15.34.50 .07U_2.08.50.08_2_Ship.part1.rar and RUU_Leo_1_5_TMOUS_2.10.531.0_Radio_Signed_15.34.50 .07U_2.08.50.08_2_Ship.part2.rar
Download these and then unpack them with WinRAR. I haven't downloaded the files, but you'll probably get an .exe file. Right click on this and select "Extract Here", one of the files extracted should be a LEOIMG.nbh (or ***.nbh) file. Copy that to your sd card and flash from there. There is also a RUU_Leo_1_5_TMOUS_2.10.531.0_Radio_Signed_15.34.50 .07U_2.08.50.08_2_Ship.txt file at that location, so try download that also and see what instructions it gives.

after you put the file onto your sd card, and rename it leoimg.nbh
, you restart the phone into bootloader and it flashes, , nothing to do with the pc at all.
well now im making some progress. i renamed that file to leoimg. then powered down then held volume down and then yellow button. it did nothing, then i turned it back on. this time i did volume and yrllow button. it came to the green blue red white screen did nothing. so i renamed the file again this time added .nbh. did it again. nothing. what gives? where on sd card does it need to be?

Be sure that the file is really named "leoimg.nbh". Do you have hidden extensions enabled in the OS!? If the file is correctly named and still a no go, try with other sdcard.
if you have a 16gb card you should deff try find a smaller card.
sorry it took a while to reply. the file i got was named romupdate.nbh. how do i enable hidden extensions? and why do i need a smaller sd card?
cos lots (not all, but a good number) of people using teh stock 16 gb card have had problems, , , some have had problems with 8gb, and less have had probs with 2gb cards.
if you can see the .nbh part of romupdate, then you dont need to worry about showing extensions. Just rename it leoimg.nbh and copy to sd.
also.

The comprehensive guide to put a custom ROM on your X8 for NOOBS! (2.3)

Hello,
I decided to write this because I had a hell of a time finding out how to do this - all the information is here on the forums but not all in one place so you can just read and install the custom ROM.
The ROM that is available that I have successfully tested is CM7_RC1_X8_004
You will need the following programs:
SuperOneClick - to root your phone
Busybox - from the android Market
Xrecovery
Super Manager - from the Market
X10 Flashtool
and your ROM
Rooting
~~~~~
So First we want to root the phone, we will need to set the USB debugging mode to on. Go into settings - applications - Development and click on the tick next to USB debugging to turn it on. Plug the Phone into the PC via the USB Cable.
At the end of this post are files download SuperOneclick and extract it into a folder on your desktop then run the exe file called SuperOneClick.exe and click on root, it will scroll through a load of things then come up with a message that says "Root files have been installed would you like to run a test?" To which I always say Yes then it says "A su command will now be sent to your phone please hit allow in superuser" (there were no messages on my phone so I just hit OK on that message) Then a message comes up asking you to donate, so if that utility is handy for you feel free to donate to the makers of SuperOneclick!
You can now turn off USB debugging.
Installing BusyBox
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Go to settings - sound and display and set the screen timeout to 30 mins I have found it to keep locking while installing Busybox as it takes a while to do.
Go to the market and search for Busybox and install and accept permissions on it. once this part of the application has installed you need to run it as it has only been copied to the phone - now you have to actually install it.
So run the busybox app and say OK to the message from the developer (reading it first of course) then it will ask you for permission which you say yes.
Next we see a screen saying Status: Working, Your phone is Rooted, amount of free space in system is 10128kb, Busybox not found. (we haven't installed it yet.)
The first time I did this it took ages to get anywhere and ages to install so just be patient and wait for it. Choose Busybox 1.17.1 but change the location of the install to system/xbin (the drop down box at the bottom of the page.) Then Click Install. For me this time it failed so lets try v 1.18 and the default location. back up and then relaunch busybox installer.
I found I had to change the settings a couple times when I installed before to get it to install, you might not find that. Sure enough this time it installed fine using v1.18 and the default save location.
installing Super Manager and Xrecovery
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
First you need to download the new ROM files from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=973753
Go to the third post and download the rom: (currently
http://hotfile.com/dl/109568508/3381b40/CM7_RC1_X8_004.rar.html)
Once it's down extract the files to another folder in your desktop and you should have the files LiveWallpapers.zip, Update.zip, changelog.txt and a BASEBAND folder.
Then connect your phone and copy the three files and the folder to a new directory on your SDcard. (I called mine ROM) Now remove the cable from the PC not forgetting to unmount it first.
Then you need to download Super Manager from the market and install it then run it - choose File explorer - click on the favourite icon at the bottom(the picture of a folder and a heart) and choose SD card, navigate to your folder where you stored the files and click on all the ticks next to the files and folder and then when they are all selected click on any file and hold it till a menu appears and choose copy (This is to copy the files)
Then Click on the favourites one again and choose root path. Then go to System and then Bin and then click on one file and hold the button till the menu appears and scroll to the bottom where you see paste and click on it and this will paste the files into this folder.
X10 Flash tool
~~~~~~~~~~
Next we need to use the X10 Flastool so download it from
http://www.multiupload.com/GYL7A7XQBT
(The thread I got this from is: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=920746).
Once downloaded you need to extract the files and run X10FlashTool.exe.
Then before you plug the phone back in you need to put it into USB debugging mode again. Go into settings - applications - Development and click on the tick next to USB debugging to turn it on. Plug the phone back into the PC.
In the X10Flashtool click on the button that says ask root perms and press allow on the phone when it comes up and in the FlashTool it will say "INFO - Root Access Allowed."
Then Click Optimize and it will then reboot your phone, let the phone come back up and then in x10 Flasher click ask root perms and it should say Allowed again after a short time.
Then click on xRecovery. Power the phone off and wait for 20 seconds and then power it back on. As soon as you see the words "Sony Ericsson" appear on the screen start hammering the back button. Then the phone will boot into xRecovery.
Backup your phone
Use the sound volume up and down buttons to move up and down the menus and the home button to select the option (I think the back button is back as well). Choose the backup/restore option, then backup to backup your phone to the SD card (First the system and then the data)
Then when it's finished it will say complete and you can go ahead and put the new rom on the phone. Choose install Custom Zip, then choose custom zip from SDcard. Navigate to the directory you put your ROM in and choose update.zip it will ask you if you are sure so choose yes and it will update your phone.
Once it says Install from SDcard complete hit backup then choose the top option reboot phone.
Your Phone will then reboot into Android 2.3
Good job on this
Restoring your Phone to It's previous working state
To restore you phone back to how it was before you started all this all you need to do is Boot xRecovery by hammering the back button once you see the very first Sony Ericsson which takes you into xRecovery.
Then use the volume up and down on the side of the phone and choose backup and restore and you can choose advanced restore to restore a different component or just do a restore to do the whole phone back as it was.
I have just restored back successfully!
is there a big risk that i will damage my phone in case i will do everything in #1post step by step with instruction?
I don't really think so, but there is always the possibility when flashing your phone that you might Brick it.
I didn't break mine and I will do this to test every new firmware that comes out and because I've done it once most of the hard work is done which was installing xRecovery.
In short I offer you no guarantee this won't brick your phone what you do is at your own risk, but I had no trouble.
Yeah i know this that im doing it on my own risk, im only asking of probability of breaking phone cus i want root and install custom rom but i have a little bad luck
OK,
I don't know about failures - I haven't seen anyone complaining about destroying their phone and it didn't happen to me, that's all I know sorry.
super manager isn't copying and pasting files. i follow the guide and when i click paste, nothing happens.
edit: it just says "prepare to copy" when i try to copy the files, then nothing when i paste

In supermanager open the folder system and then select the folder Bin, you have to change the folder from read to read and write first before u can copy anything.
thanks, realized i hadn't given super manager super user permission. what do i do differently when installing Rachts Roms because they don't come with an update.zip?

When u have Xrecovery and make an backup it will create a folder in SD card "backup" after u download the Rom from racth u put the folder on the backup folder, then in XRecovery u go to backup then restore, u will see the rom there, just press ok and it will do the rest like the zip file.
to the OP thanks a Lot i appreciate this Guide!
and on the same vein as the others i am having some problems pasting the contents of the ROM. i have given Super manager root prves. but it says not enough free desc space which seems right to me cus there is only 128Mb storage on the phone.

Based on my experience.. I didn't really know what I've done that make my phone cannot boot... it's all because not really prepared... Need to do some research and reading 1st..
Luckily, when done some reading, I manage to boot the phone after flashing with SEUS..
And after that... I prepare to do checklist... Now.. Everything seems OK...

With your phone did you get a 2GB SD card? I did with mine and that's where you need to copy the ROM files to(you need to copy the files in windows to the SD card). The only thing I was copying with super manager was the xRecovery files. (and I'm not sure I needed to do that since you kinda install xrecovery on the flash tool, I just posted exactly what I did)
mss_2212, yeah using the SE repair might get you out of a few scrapes, it's good that they offer such a utility to completely flash your phone back to the latest SE update!
Well, V6.0a is now out I am downloading that as we speak.
^^ how is it running? i see BlueTooth not working.
i realize my error you were talking about copying the files for Xrecovery i thought you were referring to the ROM files.
Thanks for the help! I hope I success for the install of the last custom rom from CM 2.3! If it's good, it will be translate for the french forums! ;-)
I'm still setting it up to how I like it but so far so good - it's nie and stable for me and WI-FI works which is a dream.
Don't forget to make a backup first of your old ROM though!
Thanks
Hi!
I tried to install the last 2.3.3 CM7 with this guide, but I get a problem with the X10 flashtool... In fact, I don't understand if I have to lauch the .exe in my phone, or in the PC. Because with the phone I can "ask root perms" but I get an error (it says me to use usb debug the phone and install...) but I think that I've followed the guide And since the PC, there is no file in the "firmware" fold...
So I install the custom ROM, without that step, and it success, even if I get another problem, but I think, because of the instability of the rom (no market, and no possibility to dl by internet)
Thanks for the help!
Hello,
Not quite sure what you're getting at, I will try to help if I can (I'm still a bit of a noob really myself)
You need to run the x10 flash tool on the PC with your phone connected in usb debugging mode before it will work.
"Then before you plug the phone back in you need to put it into USB debugging mode again. Go into settings - applications - Development and click on the tick next to USB debugging to turn it on. Plug the phone back into the PC."
The Market and other applications are included in the latest version(.6a as of this writing) in a zip file called gapps-gb-20110307-signed.zip to install them you need to boot into xRecovery and choose install custom zip and then point it to that file which is next to the install.zip. Then the market will work.
v.6a is really nice but ultimately I had to revert because I needed to take some pics but a lot of stuff is working well!

Actually what you have to do is like this step:
1. Download the full CORRECT STOCK ROM. You have to be sure that it is the CORRECT STOCK ROM (not only the STOCK ROM)
2. You have to extract the .exe file using 7zip, WInzip or WInrar (no need to change to Zip first. You can directly extract it)
3. Find the among the extracted files, the file name: RUU_signed.nbh. And rename it to: leoimb.nbh (remember .nbh is an extension for image file)
4. Format your micro sd card with Fat32. (dont forget to back up all the data therein). Copy the leoimg.nbh to the root of your sd card using card reader.
Some the condition of your sd card affect the process, such as bad block, damage, etc. Also, consider to use lower capacity, 4-8 GB is recommended (although I never have problem flashing via sandisk micro Sd card with 16GB capacity)
5. Go into bootloader screen and wait until the four colors screen change to all white color and there will appear the instruction. Just follow the onscreen instruction.
Done..

1. Turn the phone off.
2. Hold Volume Down button.
3. While holding Volume Down, turn on the phone with the End/Power button as usual.
4. You should see a tri-color screen. Now you may let go of the volume down button.
Connect to your PC and the bottom should say "USB" instead of "Serial". Then you can flash whatever you'd like (if you have HSPL installed).

Manual Gingerbread update issues.

I have noticed a few other people having the same issues. When i try manually updating my phone, I get error no image. I tried renaming it just PD15IMG but it still shows up as PD15IMG.zip when trying to install via. hboot. I have followed the steps. I formatted my SD card, put the file on there, turned fast boot off, powered down the phone, hold the volume down button + power button and then hboot shows up, it tries to load and i get the error. Is there any other way I can try renaming the file? maybe it is the reason it will not recognize it as a update img.

Are you using this http://megaupload.com/?d=N8XGHXJC uploaded by Gr33nF0x. I used this file 2-3 times now with 0 issues. If this is the file you have try a different sdcard. You don't half to rename it just do this
How to install this update (IF YOU ARE ROOTED YOU WILL LOSE IT )
You will lose apps and data on the phone but all data on sdcard will be fine
1. Download the PD15IMG.zip file posted http://megaupload.com/?d=N8XGHXJC
2. Put file on the root of your sdcard (leave it zipped and don't put it in any folder)
3. go to settings/applications make sure fastboot is unchecked (on 2.2.1)
4. power off
5. push and hold volume down and power till you get into hboot
6. it will scan file when its done it should ask you to update push volume up
I have tried it multiple times with 3 different SD cards. I've tried renaming it etc.
Did you try redownloading and checking MD5?

It's pretty much used to confirm the integrity of a file, good with large files that are downloaded.

I downloaded it, but I am not very good with command lines, how would i check the integrity of the file? Like what would i type, the file path?
So I had a fellow from the forums send me his, still won't work. I'm beginning to suspect its my phone.
worked great for me thanks!!!
Can someone post a how-to video for me? I know its asking a lot. The only reason I am so eager to do this 1. I am a prepaid customer, It will take forever to get the OTA 2. the closest t-mobile RETAIL store is 80+ miles away. I have followed wolf's steps, attempted to check the MD5 of the file but can't seem to find the MD5 code on greenfox's file. Any further help would be much appreciated. This is the MD5 code that i got off the file, I just have nothing to match it against - c38aa6e2572ecec383eac5d6412dc6bf. Can anyone confirm or deny the MD5 checks out for me please.
