[Q] Full file access? - Optimus 7 General

Hi!
Just wondering if anyone is working on trying to get full file access (build a file explorer of sorts) for the Optimus 7?
Can't find any (good) news at all.

Would be nice, however it doesn't work on LG Optimus 7. That is the file explorer works only in reading the Windows folder, no write access and also no read in any other folder.

Install a program but I can't find it.

I created an app (and associated CAB file) using VS2005. I copy it to my Windows Mobile device and then double click the file on my device, and after a few seconds it says that it was successfully installed. However, I can't find it anywhere. I go into Programs and I don't see it. Any ideas?

Please post the cab file so we can take a look at it....

How to overide \windows\ access protected files?

I know people use total commander but I have no idea how to use it. Is there an easier way? Or can someone explain to me how to use it to copy over some files to my \windows\ folder?

Just use Resco Explorer. It's not freeware but is a great application with the ability to overwrite protected files and has many settings to play with.

Yeah I was actually looking into that program. Heard a lot of good things about it. Any place with a good tutorial on it?

Select the file you want... Click file... Select Copy/Move... Click Tree to select where you want to drop the file.
I found this at this page, and it works for me about 90% of the time.
Download EnableRAPI and extract all files from the zip archive.
Double click on EnableRAPI.bat and leave the DOS window it launches open
Open Folder Options and choose to "Show hidden files and folders" and de-select the "Hide protected operating system files" option.
On Windows XP, this would be done by launching Windows Explorer and clicking on Tools --> Folder Options and then the View tab.
On Windows Vista, this would be done by going to Folder Options from the Control Panel and then clicking on the View tab.
Connect your device to your PC using ActiveSync (Windows XP) or Windows Mobile Device Center (Windows Vista).
Browse the device's file system using the File Manager tool in ActiveSync or Windows Mobile Device Center.
When you have finished making all of your modifications, close the EnableRAPI DOS window.
I'm not sure what this actually does, though, or why it works.

I tried that, it doesn't work. I'm using a Blackjack II running WM6.1. Does anybody know why it doesn't work and how to copy files into the windows directory?

You are posting in the wrong forums. However, your question is rather generic. I find it best to use either Resco Explorer or TotalCommander (as well as ActiveSync of course).

How do I install .cab files?

As the title says... Oh, and .exe files too, I can't seem to run them when my HD's plugged in... :/ Don't know what to do, to install games at all...
put them in your phone folder (any foldler) then explore this folder on your phone with file explorer an click on the cab to install.
Is File Explorer a 3rd party app? Haven't seen it on my device before...
EDIT:
Oh! Found it! Hehe ^^' It's just a different language on mine, and didn't really notice it... Thanks!
The easiest way to do that is a little application (91 KB.) called "WinCE cab installer.exe", that installs a cab from the desktop to any device connected via active sync or WMDC.

File explorer should be standard on any wm device, its the yellow envoloppe with the magnifyingglass, you might have to add it to your programs tab
Just use that and navigate to the folder you have copy the .cab to. Then all you need to do is tab on the .cab and it should install itself, just like a .exe or .com file.
To install .exe all you need to do is click on it(from your pc) and then turn on active sync while connected to your pc.

This actually makes a lot of sense as it saves the extra effort of copying to- and navigating on the phone. I googled a bit for it but non of the downloadlinks are working (4 me). Can you show us where you got it (or upload it somewhere)?

can't copy to my windows folder?

HI,
For some reason I can't copy any files in my windows folder
I select the file, copy, go to my windows folder, but then I can't paste them. I don't get an error message, but the option "paste" in the menu isn't even there, everytime I try this doesn't matter what kind file I choose
And the windows folder isn't viewed when I'm using my pc to look on the HD of my Toch 2 (WM 6,5)?
isn't that weird?
What explorere do you use, with Total Comander i can do it.

I'm using the explorer of the Activesync program. If I connect the device to my pc, I can only see the internal HD (as far as I know) using the activesync explorer.
And the copying I tried from the device itself. So I've selected a file on my HTC (using the explorer of the HTC itself), and tried to paste it in the windows folder, but mt HTC doesn't show the option paste in the windows folder.
You suggest to use Total Commander for this?
Then I will try this as soon as I'm back home from work....
Look, you cant see Windows folder without special Explorer, cause its a system folder. Take Total Comander, install on your phone, and you will be able to copy/paste files out from Windows folder, and then put them on your PC.

Windows directory not seen

I have the 3VO rom on the htc snap and when connected to my win 7 pc I can not locate the /windows directory. I of course have the option to view hidden files checked but this was to no avail.
Hi there,
That is perfectly normal if you are trying to see it from the win7 mobile device center. Bill doesn't want you to mess with the system files. In order to access this directory, you have several options :
- install a proper file explorer such as Total commander or Resco file explorer on you device, and do it from there
- I think Mymobiler allows you to access this directory from the PC. Needs a check though, I uninstalled this program that kind of bugged me. see http://www.mymobiler.com/manual.aspx
Anyway, I would assume your problem does not come from the 3vo ROM.
