Just got my Arc
I read that you can use SEUS to remove the Rogers logo and remove the Rogers software, but when i did the reset that reloaded the software it still reinstalled the bloatware. Is there another way to do this? Or do I need to use the flash tool?

I've recently bricked my phone and it boots to the yellow exclamation of death, im subject to a monthly qouta by my ISP, so i cant download the flash tool(over 200 mbs), first of all i tried companion, i keep getting "download error please check your internet connection" i tried over 30 times but no luck......then tried SEUS, all i get in the end is "Your software is upto date" and ONLY the exit button (other ppl report that they do have a re-install button or restore to factory default button, i have none, is there a way to activate them?)........what should i do?
Edit: Pc companion's repair function used to worked before and i used it to unbrick my x10 a week ago
The reason you get the dowload error is because you flashed an X10i rom on your X10a. Use step 5 in the longer root method to flash an X10a rom and the dowload will work again.

i have an x10i, i am running the stock over the air upgrade, i never flashed any roms on it(upgraded the phone when i got it from companion from the SE servers), i did the 5second root method and the way i bricked it was i used the LCD density changer without busybox
just to clear something out, i got my phone unlocked from an independent store for ~$500, so im running STOCK fw 26, it has never been flashed by any rom, and the brick happened with when i tryed using the LCD density changer but didnt have busybox installed
Ok, you should still be able to us step 5 in the newbie guide to rooting thread.

I'm running 2.2 beta 4 if I want to go back to 2.1 can I just copy the 2.1 rom to sd card and install from Xrecovery?

Just connect to the pc and do a reinstall or repair with SEUS

Download 1 of the custom 2.1 rom from xda.
Reboot in xrecocery.
Do a factory reset, a cache partition wipe and wipe dalvick cache.
Install the rom with install custom zip.

I've just gone from Cyanogen 2.2.1 back to SE 2.1. I tried SEUS but it didn't provide a recovery option, it just said that there was no update available - I'm guessing because it didn't recognise the ROM.
I ended up using Flash Tool to get one of the SE ROMs on it.
However, if you have PC Companion installed, I think you can do a recovery on the phone regardless of what ROM you're on (it says there's no update but there's a link to 'recover phone' or something like that).
Me ended with the same stuff

nope, i tried that some days ago and pc companion stopped at start of flashing procedure and told me, that there is no firmware available for me. i was running beta4.
then i flashed an old xrecovery backup, that i made after my update to bb .54, and bingo, no problem repairing with pc companion...obviously nowadays the SE update sw doesn't like any other roms...

Its strange that this didn't work for you. I upgraded to 2.2 a few weeks ago, but the instructions I followed decided they wanted to leave out a step. It ended up being a pretty critical step and it really screwed up my phone. So much so that I couldnt even get into the phone anymore. As a last effort, I tried PC Companion to do a repair and it worked. Cleared everything off and went back to the stock 2.1.
Scrub question, when re-flashing the x10, does it wipe contents of the microSD or just internal memory?

Hi there, I got this phone a couple weeks back and am loving it, however, I just rooted my phone, and changed the boot animation, messed around with a couple of other settings, and went to try and get them back to normal, and came to the slow realisation that I should have backed stuff up beforehand...
Now, I wondered if you guys could tell me how to get this phone back to how it came out of the box (unrooted, stock bootscreen, no apps installed etc.)
I rooted it without unlocking the bootloader using the "Gingerbreak" apk.
I'm pretty new to android, so please, please use small words?
Thanks
EDIT: I used "Root Tools" to change the boot animation

[GUIDE]Using flashtool to recover Play
Did you try factory reset and SEUS?
Otherwise. Above should do it.

Does this require unlocked bootloader?
And I tried factory reset, didnt give me back programs, and SEUS was no use at all, just told me I had the latest software and to go away :/
I believe SEUS have the option to reinstall.
Anyways. Flashtool should work on locked device. Only perhaps possible issue reported is with Hongkong models.

no flashtools doesn't work on locked XP, I tried it. try this, it should restore everything:
http://www.sonyericsson.com/cws/supp...ay?cc=gb&lc=en
just follow it through, and it will reset everything. I already used it twice.
Well the flash tools worked a treat, everything is stock, and I had a locked bootloader. thanks a lot for your help!

I have a rooted xperia play, (no unlocked bootloader). I removed a lot of the default apps with Titanium Backup, basically almost everything from the sticky thread about bloatware. I backed up and uninstalled them instead of freezing.
Can I still do hardware reset or would I need to reinstall everything?
Same question for OTA updates
Okay I tried it myself and I could do hardware reset. BUT I lost partial function of my homekey (it worked for unlocking screen but it doesnt bring up home screen).
I installed 2.3.3 update through SEUS and it worked, but I lost my root acces. Fixed the home key though.
So I had to use Flashtool to go back to 2.3.2, root and ota to 2.3.3 without removing bloat.
Whenever you wanna do a reset or an update you need to restore the bloatware first. Otherwise what you described with the home screen will happen, and OTA won't work.
Now that you have 2.3.3 with root, backup the bloat with titanium first, then uninstall it. As long as you restore it before another reset or update it'll be fine.

I am on version UCUAMDL on a rooted AT&T S4. Tried to install the update. It failed and now when I try to install the update it says my firmware is current. I'm fairly new to android, am I missing something? Thanks.
Best regards,
Mike

I had a problem when my device was rooted. If you want to update you will need to reset the flash counter remove root then do a factory reset. Well at least I had to, to get mine to update. Now when u update u will not be able to root your device, the boot loader will be locked and you will not be able to downgrade back to a previous version. Also programs the trick the phone and make the hotspot work will also not work. So if you like a rooted phone DO NOT UPDATE. I made that mistake.
