Contact Acer. They will have you send it in, so plan on not having a display model for 7-10 days.
Others are having the issue and that is Acer's answer right now.

Hey Guys,
Last night I was using the phone when the battery gave out. I plugged it in and charged and this morning, went to use it. I put in my 4 digit password but the phone tells ne its incorrect. Its definately the right one but now I'm locked out of my phone.
Anyone have any suggestions other than the obvious reflash? Any ideas how this could have happened?
TIA

Try the factory password, 1234 or 0000...Tj
Happened to me too 3 times
I had to do a hard reset.. are you using the old or the new ROM?
It happened to me 3 times after that I just use the s2u2 lock, no so secure but it saves me a hard reset.
Very annoying problem.
let us know if you find a solution.

I remember being told not to set the password lock on a 6.5.3 build once (that's the "new" beta branch). You think this still holds true?

I think a hard reset might be in your future. There is not really a way around the password, that the whole point. If you are 100% sure its the right password, then you are probably locked out for good.
make sure to remove the sd card before the auto hard reset. it gets formatted. i learned the hard way.
Thanks all for the pearls of wisdom. I had no choice but to do the hard reset. Its a real pain in the backside. I absolutely love this phone but I dont think it was ready for primetime.
FWIW, I'm running the latest TMOUS Official Rom with very little in the way of tweaks, etc.
It just happened to me for the second time. As I sync with Exchange 2007, I am forced to use a password. This time, I did take out the SD card!
Thank goodness for SPB Backup!
I was stupid. I was screwing with my phone and I set the lock pattern and didn't pay attention. Now it's locked and I can't get into it.
I've got one of the newer Vibrants, which does not go into download or recovery mode through the physical buttons.
I've done a lot of research and there are several methods out there but nothing so far that will work for me.
I'm not able to log in to my google account. It's not working. I've tried wi-fi and 3G. It's just not working.
Please help. I'm totally stuck right now.
Isn't there a way to do a physical reset somehow???
Are you rooted?
Crapped from my sexy vibrant.
How do we know this isn't a stolen phone?
I don't always complain, but when I do, I #BlameWes
Yeah that sounds weird considering you have to repeat the pattern 2 times not once.

Making the same mistake twice... Sounds more of a stolen phone to me.
Yup. Phone is ganked. Report him.

I think he deserves the phone he took the effort to steel it. That's a felony I don't see any of you risking the free life.

Here is how to fix if the phone is really yours.
You have to know your gmail user/password.
If stolen you will still be locked out
If you try entering the incorrect pattern five times you will see a screen where there will be a place to click for people who forgot their unlock pattern. It will ask you to enter your gmail user name and password. then will ask you to set a new unlock pattern and you will be fine
Edit
Missed the part were you said you dont know your google account...obviously stolen
Don't think just because he made a mistake with the code that the phone's stolen. I once set the passcode on my iPhone wrong even though I had to repeat it to set it, and I had to plug it into iTunes and restore to get back in.
If you can't get into your Google Account, OP, click forgot your password on the Google Account page (on your computer) and reset it.
Can you not get to download thro odin?

It's NOT stolen.
Hello everyone.
First let me say, this phone IS NOT stolen. I enabled the pattern thingy without really paying attention. I was just farting around on the phone. Then I got locked out.
It asked if I wanted to log in with my google account.
HELL YEA. That would be perfect. I DO know my google account information and that's one reason I love Android. I don't have to sync anything.
But it wont validate. It wont even try to use the data to validate. It automatically tells me it's wrong the moment I click "log in". I've read that other people in my similar situation have had the same problem. The suggestion was to use 3g and not Wi-Fi which I tried but that didn't work.
I think maybe because I'm using SimpleMobile, the phone may be trying T-Mobiles APN when I'm using SimpleMobile's network. I dont know though.
Yes, the phone is rooted.
But as of right now, the phone is bricked. I can't get in.
And I just came back from T-Mobile. I can't find my receipt and they can't find my account. This was originally an AT&T number that was ported to T-Mobile, and then ported to SimpleMobile. The guy says it's impossible that he can't find my account under my number and thinks I'm a fraud.
I really really need some help here. Can anyone suggest anything?
I learned when I rooted this phone, that there is NO way to get into download mode or recovery mode using the power button and volume buttons. I had to use method on theunlockr.com to root.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE help me. I'm being forced back into my European Hero and I hate it
Sounds like a data connection problem but yea wifi is not an option
u have a friend with tmobile with data plan?
Try putting their sim card in and try the Google account user/pass again
The T-Mobile rep tried that and it did not work.
Right now, I've got the phone configured to use SimpleMobile's network. I think the phone is trying to use the wrong APN for validation.
I found this post.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=485988
I'm pretty sure it's in debug mode. But I'm not really sure how to proceed. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Lol tmobile can't find your account sounds like your defrauding ppl here good luck and save this forum for ppl who really bought/own the phone . And simple mobil uses tmobile towers

I just dug out my t-mobile contract and I'm on my way back to the store.
If you think I stole the phone, please move on to the next thread. YOU ADVICE IS NOT WANTED.
If you'd like to offer some real help, then please go ahead. Now maybe that I've got some paperwork they can get into the account I used when I purchased this and it will be covered under the warranty.

Sorry but if you're using a t mobile vibrant with another GSM carrier then its unlocked then swapping with t mobile and your sim vice-versa will work fine that's why i recommended trying that
And why don't you go check my posting history douche bag. I've had this Vibrant for a month already.
Im a douchbag?

Talking to people like that wont get you the help you want.
Back from when i was a Tmo rep i only dealt with Sim lockouts and we could access this information and help unlock it with an 8 digit passcode.
However from what you are saying you are on a smaller GSM carrier and they are unable to get you this info because it is not a phone supported by them (they dont sell the phone thus no customer service for it). Only way to get this by yourself is to use Odin and flash back stock rom due to you not being able to access download mode.
Just because u had a stolen phone for a month dont mean any thing and looking u only been member a short time and your post are asking the same trash over and over again .may want to go back to using your htc hero

okay. i decided to buy the A500 tonight. after reading all the threads, it sounds like a good purchase. but when i looked at the demo they had on the showroom floor, it had a password on it.
i don't plan on putting a password on it. i just want it next to my bed and not have to worry about it. what i'm worried about is someone (like a friend) putting a password on it. the reason i ask this is because when i was looking at the demo model tonight, no one knew what the password was...so i "soft" reset it via metal wire into the reset hole AND also by holding up on the volume rocker. but in either case, it didn't do anything except for pop up the Android guy with an exclamation symbol. when it rebooted, it was at the password lock screen again. nothing changed.
after looking here for related threads, it says that if you don't know the password, then you're in deep kaka doodie (it has to be sent back to Acer).
i don't know how many of you still remember what CMOS is, but in order to set a boot password, you have to know the master password (which you need to know in order to make any CMOS changes to begin with. such as enabling the boot password option). that way the person who built the computer will be the first and only person to set the master password, preventing his/her jerk friends from pulling a prank by preventing him/her from booting their computer.
so my question is: is there a "master" password required to set the lock screen password?
my phone has a password/pattern. the reason i have it is because i leave my phone at my desk at work or on the coffee table at my friends. and i don't want them looking at my stuff. but the tablet is gonna be in my room and i don't have to worry about anyone looking at it or stealing it except for myself.
another question: will the custom roms bypass this password feature?
thanks for reading this far. sorry if i'm asking stupid questions, but i guess after the frustration at the store tonight with the demo model, i'm a bit annoyed. i never got to actually use the device and i still bought it anyways on the grounds that i would be happy with it (that sounds dumb now that i think about it). heck...its still sealed in its box & sitting on my bed as i'm typing this. but the password feature really sounds like a danger.
EDIT: the reason i'm asking this right now is because i JUST opened the box and am now charging it (for at least the recommended four hours), but i'll be asleep in a couple. so i won't find out til morning. but i'm hoping an XDA boarder can fill me in before i catch some Zzzs.
As far for a master password I've no idea if there's one...
Regarding installing new Roms, yes it will reset the password. I don't know if it's because the CWM wipe and factory reset but it will clean any password you have set.
You can use the tablet without any password. It's very easy to set it up under adjustements/security.
And I do agree with you that having a demo pc/tablet/phone is the most idiotic idea of marketing or sales strategy I can think off.
I've got my Iconia for 5 weeks now, gone trought a few roms, got back to stock but in the middle I've learned the "how to..." At the end I'm so happy with this tablet and how flexible is that I'm recommending it to all my friends.
Hope that helped.
Cheers,
very helpful. thank, mate. cheers!
just for your info, the ICONIA A500 is delivered without any obligation of using any passwords of any kind. In the showroom they have encrypted the tablet to protect it it from any unauthorized use.
In fact only if you want to whether protect your tablets content to be visible if ever it is stolen, or if you want to use enterprise (exchange activesync push) email capabilities, you have to encrypt your device, which then will oblige you to enter a master password during startup and a PIN password to exit sleep state.
So of corse no password protection except if you want it.
So I broke my S4. Now the screen has a big crack and the display is shot. Once in a while it flickers just enough to see my wallpaper is still set how I had it so I'm assuming everything else is working. My question is how would I copy over the data (contacts, messages, etc) with the screen in this condition? I figure it must be simple and right under my nose since I haven't figured it out yet. I appreciate any help given.
I've tried to do this but am getting nowhere. There's no option I can find that doesn't require the display to work. Not to mention the PIN to get in from lock screen. I don't know. I guess I'm out of luck.
Is it not worth it to you to replace the screen?
I can't afford to and I have an s5 active now that I'm begrudgingly paying $33 a month for.

Afaik a new screen is your only real option. Maybe someone with more experience can tell you how to adb into the phone without unlocking it but I don't know if you can issue the unlock pin or password with adb. The trick, I would think, would be to get the drives to mount. Maybe if you drop into recovery mode using the button combo there might be a way to adb into the phone. Personally I think your stuck until you get a new screen. I'm assuming you haven't backed up any of your info. Your contacts will transfer over but without a backup you may just have to do without. In the future, I know this doesn't help but I had this happen with a really old htc, try using box. You get 50 Gb of data so there is just plenty of room to keep backups. I use tasker to automatically backup my important stuff to box. I hope you get better help than what I'm giving you.
If you used Kies would need your pin? This won't work I just looked it up.
Perhaps you could try this http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B009QW3TBK/ref=aw_d_dsc_wireless
HDMI out and USB ports for keyboard and mouse to enter your pin. [emoji41]
You should be able to get into recovery mode and access data via adb from there.
Kids may work as well if u haven't tried that try it first.

So before 10 minutes or so i was in bed playing some games on my phone and out of nowhere i get this notification from Find my mobile , i clicked on in and boom my phone got locked.
It said something like "This device has been lost, please hold i will contact you soon" and i had to enter some pin code , i couldnt reset it or boot in safe, so i went to samsung page and i unlocked it.
My question is wtf was that , it is my phone why would it got lock randomly?
Is it possible that someone got acces to my samsung account and its just messing with me?
It scared the sh*t out of me.
Was the phone brand new when you purchased?

I got it from local phone service , with box and all stuff in it ,waranty too , i guess it was.
Edit: I got it about a year ago and never had this problem.
Maybe it would be a good idea to wipe data/factory reset it trough the recovery
sounds like someone still has access to it (if it isnt brand new)
otherwise you have been hacked by samsung
Also change your password for Samsung account

Could it have been a "refurbished phone" but sold as new? Sometimes i know on ebay thats happened a buyer thoughtbrand new but was actually a refurbished phone with box.
