[Q] Format microSD in/from Transformer? - Eee Pad Transformer General

I dont have a microSD card reader,
is it possible to format the microSD when its in the Transformer,
or when the Transformer is attached to a PC?
I can see the MicroSD card directory...

Same Question?
Is it possible to format the Sd card in the Transformer?

If it's the same as on phones (sorry, don't have my TF in front of me), go to Settings, Storage, and Erase SD card. Not sure if that's the same as formatting, but it might be helpful?

you can format it through adb or a terminal app.

What is the command to do it through the terminal? (exact syntax)
What about through adb?
Thanks.

Mount/Amnount SD Card

Does somebody know if there is any app that can mount or unmount the sd with getting the sd card out of the phone? Just I want to hide all my files from my card...
Just go into settings and select sd card and phone storage, then select unmount SD card for either internal or external card. To remount you will need to reboot the phone.
Voila!
How fast is the internal SD card? Is it at least as fast as an external Class 6 SD card? Or even faster?
I'm sorry for an off-topic post, but it didn't seem like an important enough question to create a separate thread for it.

[Q] Help a noob with micro sd problem

I installed a new 32gb class 10 sd. It shows up in Astro file manager as being available. However, none of the many APP2SD programs I have tried allow me to move my apps to the card. What am I missing here? Do I need to format the card first and if so, how do I do that?
Apps2Sd will put apps in the "SdCard" directory which in the Iconia is actual internal memory.
You can only use your card for extra storage (like music/videos)

So, where in the file system is the actual SD card?
It's under /mnt/external_sd
the USB is under /mnt/usb_storage
They will not show up with the USB connector cable attached, but can be accessed through ADB on the host computer.
I think you are meant to actually pull the card and put stuff on it then put it back in the tablet.
Not all media players will see the card because of this name change in Honeycomb.

In the "First start information" document that came with my Acer, it states:
Transferring files from a microSD card (optional) to your PC
Remove the card from the tablet and use a card reader or USB adapter to access the card as an external storage device.

Sd card cannot be accessed by laptop

Much help would be appreciated. Total new experience for me.
I have cm7 stable on sd of my nook color. I have everything up and running great. trying to overclock and when I take my sd card out of nook and put into laptop, it asks me to format it. It is not allowing me to copy the kernal to my sd card. Is there another way of doing this?
While inserted in my laptop, I look at the properties of the sd card and it is showing to be in raw format.
any help would be greatly appreciated.
Are you unmounting the SD card before you eject it? Also, are you sure the FS on your SD is FAT32?
When I originally formatted the card before I burned the installer and the cm file on the card it was formatted to a fat16.
I have not unmounted the card prior to ejecting. I will give that a try.
okay I unmounted before ejecting... put into laptop and the laptop is still wanting to format the card.
when I look at the properties it says file system is raw, and storage space is 0mb.
Maybe your card reader couldn't read microSDHC card?
With CM7 running off a uSD which I am doing as well, some built in laptop readers will not read the uSD but it may be read with a USB reader. But, it will typically only read the 1st partition which is the Boot partition (unless you use a program to set the 4th partition as primary and active).
To access the 4th partition for storage, you can try to connect the Nook by USB cable to your computer and enable USB storage mode. That should connect you to the 4th partition and your internal mmc storage partition too.
If not, download and use the following app:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=952456
The app is a little deceiving, you have to scroll in the app to see the "Confirm" button when you are mounting, and unmounting.
Thank you!!! I'm going to try that tomorrow.
If you still have stock on eMMC, boot with the card out, then insert it before the stock OS fully loads (like on "n" or "Nook Color" splash screens). The NC will mount the boot partition as storage; there should be an SD-icon notification in the lower left, and if you tap it, it should say "SD card inserted." You can then connect via USB, and hopefully your card and PC will kiss and make up.
ETA: I've had no luck inserting the card after the OS is fully loaded--it just reads "SD safe to remove."
That worked!!! Thank you very much!!!

sd card shows "external"

hi there! so my xoom was unlocked, rooted and loaded with tiamac kernel 1.6GHZ
i have 16gb mini-sd but when hooking up on windows im seeing only external and showing its only 145mb??? am i missing something? please help
thanks in advance
the removable SD card in the xoom is supposed to found at sdcard/external. that part is correct. you may need to properly format your external SD card. you can try removing from the xoom, and format it fat32 in windows or using a program like Panasonic SD card formatted. you could also format it in an android phone. remember it is not hot swappable, so you will need to reboot or have the xoom powered off when putting the card back in.

defy + sd card problem

I have accidentally formatted my SD card in ext3 file system mode and now my phone cannot read it.Even when i connect the phone to the computer in usb memory card mode...the sd card is not shown in the computer. So i am not being able to format it again. Please tell me how to reformat it back to fat32 ....
Use EASEUS Partition Master, it will read your SD card in EXT3 format and will allow you to manage / format it!
open disk management (start->run->diskmgmt.msc) and erase your ext3 partition (doable in windows)
If you have any trouble doing this while the card is in your phone, you can also remove it and use an USB Card Reader.
But as said before, you just have to change the unit type to get it working again.
Good luck.

You can use a USB Card reader and this software: "hp disk storage format tool".
