[Q] I'm lost! :( - HD2 General

Guys, i really need help.
Just got a second hand HD2 yesterday and I plan to install Android via NAND. I only got the point where I successfully installed SPL-2.08.HSPL thru HSPL4.
(I used this thread as my base guide btw, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=893948)
I can't install a new radio or custom rom because I get Error266 in the RUU. Do I need an original HTC cable proceed?
(As of the moment I only have a Nokia cable that's working in terms of charging and transferring files.)
Here are my software info (hopefully these can help you guys figure out what's wrong with my phone):
OS: 5.2.21869 (21869.5.0.82)
Manila: 2.5.19211619.0
Rom: 1.48.405.2 (71294) WWE
Radio: 2.05.51.05_2
Protocol: 15.28.50.07U
(I got the phone with these installed, the only thing I changed was 2.08.HSPL from 1.42.00)
I really want to update my phone so badly. Please help me

No any brand cable should do as long at it is not defaulty. Try all of your USB ports as some ports like the ports in the back of your computer work better.

Still no progress. I tried all the usb ports and I even borrowed an original htc cable from a friend.
It's really weird that even the latest offical RUU from htc support comes up with the same error. Oh well, I'll try to remove the HSPL and reinstall it again...

Are you using ActiveSync or Bootloader to flash?
Have you tried flashing via SD card?
Also do you have the latest ActiveSync or WMDC software installed on your computer?

I used ActiveSync to flash.
I just tried to flash via SD but the "Searching.." text didn't appear.
I installed WMDC yesterday from the Windows site so I'm assuming that it's the updated version.
Idk if I should give up already. Thanks for the help T-Macgnolia, I really appreciate it. At least I have a functioning phone. lol

Hi
Step 1: Right click on SSPL and "run as administrator" it will be do the job.
If you get an error then Disconnect the cable and reconnect then run the Step 1 again.
Good luck

If you use a USB Hub then try use the usb port from the motherboard.
OR
Try to Install HSPL first. then Install any roms with Custom ruu. Please read the thread before you use them. They all explained here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=609477
Good luck
1) To install this HSPL there must be SPL 1.42.0000 on your device.
Otherwise the installation will fail!
To check your SPL version, hold the Volume Down button and do a reset.
It is possible to downgrade to this SPL, by just flashing to an Official ROM
with this SPL version.

For instance my is SPL 1.42.6666 and I have same problem.
Troubleshooting:
* I have SPL 1.42.666 on the device.... !!!! WAIT !!!! SPL 1.42.6666 is not the version of the SPL on your device!... it is the SSPL version. Most likely you have the needed 1.42.0000 SPL on the device, just try to install this HSPL if you need it. Don't worry, if there is not the right SPL on the device, then u will get an error message, but nothing will happen to your device

I had same kind of problem, I also run windows 7 I simply swaped to a different usb plug and then it worked fine. I was useing the plugs on the frount of pc's case so I wonder if the internal cable has a small problem or somthing as all other things work fine from that plug.
Hope that may help you.
Imanaged to get HSPL on my device and I manged to flash the rom to this one " Touch-IT Black Leo HD2 - updated " and it seems really good, the question I would like to ask now is how do I put the original rom back should I need to for warrenty issues? also does this mean that I can now use all the other roms that are on here? and is there a rom that anyone would highly recomend? Thanks for all the help that has been given to me, this really is a great forum with really helpful people...

Wel done
If you want to uninstall the HSPL then follow this
Uninstallation
Only way to remove the HSPL is to flash an original SPL from SD card.
- Take any "RUU_signed.nbh" from a ship ROM and copy it to SD card.
- Rename it to "leoimg.nbh"
- Reset the device while pressing the volume down button.
Recommend any roms is not easy because it depends your usage pattern. Therefore read more in the LEO threads before you choose to download any rom.
Now you have HSPL therefore you can install any rom from here
Good luck
ALWAYS USE SEARCH FUNCTION HERE AND YOU WILL FIND ANSWERS.
Thank you for explaining everything in a way that I can understand, I am not very techy so understanding exactly what to do when written is very important so thanks again..

HI,
I used the HSPL2_1024, selected the 2.0.0.8
After 10 min, of using Energy.Leo.23549.Sense2.5_TMobile_USA.Mar.26
I got an error, I recovered, but wondering what happened??
Just try it again. Make sure your drivers are all complete from Windows Vista or 7. Make sure you are running 6.1 Windows Mobile Device Center.
I am sure you have done this but make sure:
Plug in your phone make sure the drivers are good with Active Sync on.
When you get into HSPL2_1024 and let it run your device will be found again in USB mode. Just to make sure the drivers are loaded correctly.
Flash - reboot and then flash the Energy or whatever USTMO compatible cooked ROM you like. I think there are only 2/3 that work with the ROM 2.08
Sometimes it just takes retracing your steps to get it to work right.
good luck.
I didn't want to make a new thread for this and clutter up the board, I'm kind of a noob to XDA you see. I just bought a Tmobile HD2 and downloaded and applied the HSPL linked in this thread, it all worked fine. My problem is: Will installing the 2.09.51.03 radio on my tmous HD2 hurt it? Was the 2.09 radio meant for the htc hd2 which has a different radio?
My main goal is to get Artemis rom on it.
Thanks for your time.

The .51 radios are meant for the European spec and will not work on a TMOUS based rom AFAIK.

try different usb ports and remember to right click 1024 and 'run as administrator'
After using the HardSPL I could not get my phone to sync either... So Just put your phone into bootloader mode. Turn off phone, power button, volume down hold till tri color screen comes up. Then just run the RUU an it will flash your phone. Only NRGZ rom works.

Update...I found it.
yeah notinh still not working ive tryed all ports, im running windows 7 64bit.
I'm recieving the same error. Windows 7 x64, MDC is latest 6.1. Tried from both laptop (Win7 x64) and desktop (Win7 x64). Phone goes into Tri color screen, says "USB" at the bottom. Windows notes new driver, updates, then HSPL2 for 1024 Leo gives "Critical Error" and bombs out. Bummer
UPDATE: Fixed it. Did a hard reset on the phone, tried again, and now HSPL flashed successfully. Now, on to the cooked ROMs
Worked for me on win 7 x64... No issue with HSPL2_1024_RUN file I got by browsing this site... It did freeze on me during RUU, but I just rebooted and ran it as admin whilst not touching any other program in windows until it was done and it worked.

I believe you are to choose 2.08 to install HSPL
And you choose 2.08.0000 when you want to uninstall HSPL, for warranty and such.

Android don't work correct

I have don't hspl my device because it works without. But my android can't notice I insert my charger. Why? When the phone is going to low battery I have to insert my charger, but nothing happens. I have now tried to hard spl with hardspl 3, but got error, I have figured out I have spl-3.03.0000xe on my device, it have been updated from service I had in to in about a month ago. How can I hard spl my phone? Hard SPL 3 only support versions under 3. please help. What are the latest and best working android out here now I can use in my htc hd2?
Install an older official version of the HD2 rom. It should rewrite the SPL to an older version then you will be able to install HSPL. Does the charger work in WM? Have you tried different android builds?
I have now installed older rom, but can't install hard spl3. I got always the usb connect error message. I know the cable work because it works in windows, but lost the connection in the hard spl software. please help. I have triide to run it as administrator but not worked.
Did u install old Rom with the SD card method or usb?
Sent from my hd2 using xda app.
via usb cable
It works now perfectly. I figuret out I must have the phone in the modus you get when you push down volume down button when it starts.

I attached a capture to this post.
Here are the details about my actual device:
LEO512 - Orange France
Radio 2.06.51.07
ROM 1.66.406.1 FRE
HSPL3 2.08.HSPL
I actually tried to flash to official ROM WWE 3.14.405.2 and radio 2.15.50.14 but none of them worked out, both failing with the described error. I tried to flash through ActiveSync and through the bootloader. I also tried to remove SD in both situation and I actually do not have SIM card in the phone.
When comes to change the SPL I do not have any problem and can switch smoothly.
When you use ActiveSync is your computer able to connect to youf HD2? If not then try a different USB port as the one you are using must not have the proper drivers for yoir HD2 installed. You can also try another computer and another USB cable.
Thanks.
Changing of USB port definitely solved the problem.
tried every thing erro 264, 266 for me
mine is still stuck i tried all of them
I have madldr 1.11 i just want to upgrade to 1.13 but no upgrade work for me

You can flash MAGLDR via your SD card just like you can a ROM or radio. Just copy the MAGLDR.nbh file in the MAGLDR folder you get when you exstract the zip file you download to the root of your SD card.. Then change the name of the coppied file to leoimg.nbh. Next as you turn your HD2 on hold down the volume down button. You will see the multicolor bootloader screen come up as soon as you see the word "Searching" on the screen let go of the volume down button and follow any on screen instructions. This will flash MAGLDR 1.13 to your HD2.
Just wanted to add that I was having this problem on Win7 64bit, initially windows update tried to grab drivers. It installed something unnamed but still wouldn't run the ROM update. I switched USB ports as suggested above and then Windows Update found a Qualcomm CDMA driver and installed that. This it seems did the trick as I'm now updating.
Greetings to all.
this problem has happened to me too. site (windows) to control said activesync. Then I did it to me ...... I realized that there were some driver conflict of some programs cooking ..... Removed from (windows7) now works perfectly. Thus check the newly installed programs.

[Q] Tmous or Eu? need help

Dear Dev's / members
I have problem with this HD2 and cannot find a solution yet!
first thing first. is this a Tmobile of Eu mobile?
i tried flashing factory RUU but after 1% it gives an error saying Radio failed.
tried flash quite a few radio's but still after 100% it says radio fail.
tried flashing from USB cable
tried flashing from SD with leoimg.nbh
no luck.
the guy was using android on it until yesterday. may be he tried to flash a wrong Rom which brick the phone. now only white screen appears.
i can go to bootloader mode but no luck in flashing any thing at all.
Looks like EU model as no logo near earpiece.
if also has white markings on call & end key that would help confirm EU.
If trying to install .nbh file from SD it will overwrite HSPL so check current SPL status in bootloader.
If still on HSPL 2.08 try flashing an NRG WM6.5 ROM & see what happens (they have no radio so if completes then try radio flash if needed, try via USB them SD if USB fails.
Do you get an error code when it fails via RUU ?
thanks for helping mr. B
the error i get is (270) and yes it have white markings on all the buttons. so its confirm EU model. by NRG rom you mean Energy Roms? i tried earlier the energy Rom but no luck. after 1% it gives error.
cannot try mtty method as i'm on windows 7 and in windows 7, it's not showing the USB port. it's radio is corrupted. i think someone must have flashed a wrong Rom.
What standard ROM have you got ? if it a 3.14 rom try connecting HD2 via USB & use HSPL4 toolkit to install HSPL 3.03 & if that installs then try the 3.14 ROM via USB & RUU.
Also eliminate simple issues such as lead & USB port by switching port & using a different USB lead.
Windows 7 64bit ? worth trying another PC & 32bit if can as WMDC drivers on 64bit can be a pain for flashing ...
windows 7 32bit. tried flashing hspl 4 and it says complete but in bootloader it shows 2.08 only. i guess gold card method will solve the problem but it's too complicated. any other suggestions?
i would search for task29 and format the phone back to virgin default then download a windows rom from htc via the downloads page on there website for the phone ,then if it works re task29 it then put android on it with the htc hd2 tool kit witch has every thing other than rom (all u need to do is task29 it then go back to the boot loader and run the ruu rom)

No do not run a Task 29 the device. I say this for two reasons, one if you flash the Stock Windows Mobile ROM via RUU the RUU will run a Task 28 before installing the ROM witch is pretty much the same as a Task 29. The second reason is that if you run a Task 29 it will remove the current ROM on the device so it will not have a working ROM anymore. If after the Task 29 you can not get another ROM installed on it the you will not be able to use the device at all anymore.
why not he thinks its bricked so there is no difference if he cant get a rom on it

No the device is not bricked, a bricked device will not even turn on at all, no vibrations no nothing.
At jacktackle, try to find the earliest stock Rom RUU for your HD2 and try to flash it. It is possible you have what is reffered to as a stuck radio. The only fixI have seen for this is to flash a older ROM version with a older SPL version. If the earliest ROM version does not work start working your way up one version at a time and you might get lucky and get one that will flash.
thanks for all the help guys. but nothing worked. tried flashed old ruu's but reboots at 1% this radio is screwed up. hspl 2.08 is not upgrading nor downgrading. sd card update not working. i guess thats it. will give it back to him so that he can showcase it
first time ever i'm un successful. bad luck! may this LEO rest in peace. 'amen'

Before you give it back you can find some of the old test ROMs for the EU or for the TMOUS depending on which version of the HD2 it is. Just make sure if it is a TMOUS that you do not flash a rom version that has a 51 radio with it. Just look at the RUU name and the radio version is in the name. If that does not work then the only fix will be to replace the mainboard cause JTAG would not fix the problem.
