Anyone else having problems using k9 after updating to cupcake? After i enter my known good parameters, i get an error about a 'null hostname'. thoughts?
Working fine for me. Did you do an OTA update or manual via sdcard update.zip? Seems a lot of apps have problems if you don't wipe before updating manually.
Try uninstalling and reinstall k9.
I just get a force close message when opening K9SMS, something that really sucks as the standard messaging app sends the message if I press enter.
I am running the Hr5 version of Haykuros builds though.
k9 email worked fine for me
Most of the "Force Close" problems stand from the fact that people did not wipe the phone before flashing the upgrade image. Try doing a wipe and see if that resolves the issues.
My notifications seem to have stopped working. My phone is rooted, and running Cyanogenmod's latest 5.0.5.3
Ive tried reinstalling the app, flashing the ROM again, and it worked for about the first hour then back to no notifications
Any clues?
There are several option to have tried. Did you do a nandroid before that you can revert back to? You have re-installed the app and a flash of the rom. A wipe seems to be the last option.

Since I updated my phone to firmware JPU, people try to ring me and it doesn't show up on my phone, my phone vibrates for like a second but I don't see any notification showing any call coming through, anyone know what the problem could be and how to solve it?

Samr happened to me. The vibrate that occurs is a force close. I wadnt able to find any other soloution for this bu to flash a different firmware.

I have JPU (but in the form of darky's rom v5.2) and the phone rings fine, so I'm not sure if the problem lies in the jpu rom (but maybe it was a bug that darky fixed in the rom, not sure). Unfortunately, I don't know how one would solve this without flashing, but if you are gonna flash, then I really recommend darky's rom, it's one of the best out there atm.
I flashed the low level package with ODIN and phone calls have been fine. Actually asked someone to call me to make sure lol, been a quiet weekend....

I can only guess you have a bad app or you have old settings left from other firmware.
Its nothing wrong with jpu firmware.

I hope you are not using setcpu .. i had this kind of problem when using secpu ..
Well I've re-flashed now, and didn't restore system data and everything is great now.
P.S. anyone know how to stop 2 notifications every time I get a message, one comes through Handscent and one through the the standard messaging app.

That sounds like it's something that you have to change with your provider. I am with 3 aus and switched off the option to be sms reminded every missed call and it's unnecessary especially seeing as though the phone has that functionality and if you have voice mail you should be sweet to go. You need to go to the stock samsung Messaging app, then press Menu button to go into Settings, and scroll all the way down to 'Notification Settings' and untick the Notifications option. Now you should only receive it through Handcent only.
My friend had the same problem.
Here is the solution:
1, flash XXJPU
2, do a factory reset and wipe data + cache from recovery menu
3, do not restore system apps from titanium backup, just the 3rd party softwares.
That's all, the phone app will work.
The problem is, the old phone app leaves some cache and other crap and the new phone app doesn't works. That's way the solution is factory reset and wipe data + cache.
I hope it helps you. You do not need to flash again the phone, etc. Just do what I wrote.
Not a FW problem
Hi, this happend to me with XFJP7 FW. It started after I did several things:
1) did fix permissions in CWM
2) tried stock lockscreen (didn't work the several times, but finally worked)
3) restore with TitaniumBackup
I had backup of /system/framework directory, but restoring it didn't help. I ended up with flashing again with selective restore. Didn't try stock lockscreen nor fix permissions yet.

Probably same source here which also causes the "No-Vibration-Issue".
In most cases this is being caused by using a Lockscreen-/ Extended Power Menu-/ Circle-Battery-Mod that wasn't originally build and modified especially for your firmware. There's only a limited amount of ressources available for the system.
In some cases they first -seem- to work fine.
But in the backgound they (mostly) disable or block other functions because your new firmware wants to use the same registers or adresses (which the "wrong Mod" uses) for other os-functions.
In the end, I just re-flashed and only restored apps instead of system data + apps and now its working fine. Bingo!
When I receive a call, first the lockscreen shows up on my screen (instantly) for like a second and then it changes and I can answer the call. I have stock android lockscreen and 2.2.1. Do you think I have the same problem as others here or is this a different one?
I have recently upgraded to CM7. It's great, but the only problem is WhatsApp isn't working. Everytime I enter my details the application crashes and I have to force close it.
Can someone please tell me what I can do.... I have tried Titanium Backup to restore it, however it doesn't work. I want to stick with CM7 but I'll have to revert to CM6 if I cannot resolve this problem...

WhatsApp works here on CM7. (Or atleast, worked. I got over it and uninstalled it. )

ive got whatsapp working fine on cm7, even with the latest update of the app
yea, cm 7 has problems with whatsapp.. i had it backupped so did a restore so got it running now... but when i got into my contacts and want to look someone's info that has whatsapp also the contacts app crashes. The problem has to be the whatsapp sync in the account settings. When i remove that whatsapp works fine and i can open up all my contacts/ But the account sync turns back by itself. so the problems keeps comming... hope they fix it soon.
Im running the latest nightly 223 with whatsapp and for me its just working fine, no problems and crashes at all.
I had one FC also after that I FC I just started again and it worked like a charm
I was happily rooted with MN and software v1.2. I knew 1.3 was released and didn't think my Nook would update itself while rooted. I was reading today and put it down for a few minutes and when I returned I saw the familiar "installing software" icon and scroll bar on the black screen. When it was all done, it looked exactly the same, except no GMail installed or Market. Amazon Market was still installed and appeared operational. I still had the Superuser icon in my drawer, so I thought I might still be rooted. I was going to try to install Gmail using TB, but that failed with the message that I was not rooted. I saw a reply in another thread saying I could root with MN on 1.3, but I needed the hard reset and clean install of 1.3. So, I just want confirmation that all I need to do is the "eight failed boots" and when that's done and 1.3 is freshly installed, I can then root with MN and I will be back as I was when I was rooted with 1.2, only Apps2SD won't work? I'm not really concerned about Apps2SD, I don't us it. Thanks in advance for any assistance.

I also just received the OTA 1.3 update much to my regret. Everthing worked fine but i lost my google apps and i wasnt rooted anymore. So i just manualnootered at its current state and it seems to be running fine. Market works gmail syncs. Ill just keep it this way unless i hit a critical issue that needs a fresh install.

EDIT: I just re-MN'd right over the pushed 1.3 update and it appeared to work perfectly. I have the Market again and Gmail, so all appears fine.
I have done the same for my wife's nook color, which auto updated to 1.3. Used MN for 1.2 and its back to being rooted with firmware version 1.3. Market, google talk, mail..... all works fine. So does FB, and apps of the like....
