I have sky email in the UK and its set up as my main account on the TF email widget,each time I go into my emails it deletes the emails already in there before downloading any new emails anyone else ot this?

I have my sky email setup as well but in all fairness it deletes previously read emails on all my accounts before downloading new ones, but only where i have downloaded them on my pc. So i get the emails first on my TF or SGS they stay there until downloaded on the pc then they disappear from my devices which is how it should be as the email server moves them from inbox to read or All mails
You can still view them on the tf by choosing sky and then selecting all mails folder on the left and load messages and they will show again this is the same for all google accounts for which sky email uses as its host

If i check my emails on my fone, how can i then ensure that outlook then updates while syncing from the fone?

activesync should update your normal outlook unless you delete the mails from your xda
though personaly i set my xda to leave the mails on the server so i can still get to them without using activesync
I have my emails from my pc in the ActiveSync folder on my xda2. If i delete an email in this folder when i sync next it puts this email back on the phone.
How do i select to leave the message on the server from the xda?

to tell you the truth then i dont know how to turn it off it's not something i choose it just does it or in this case it just dont do it

about moving a mail from the pop3 mail box to the activesync hhmmm now thats a good question not sure right now
i just had a play around and discovered that the message is automatically left on the server, which is good and bad, since ive got an email address just for my xda (not that its much point...just got loads of pop3 accounts to use up and couldnt resist)
well most mail box's got a www interface aswell as a pop3 one
so if your xda mail addy also got a www interface then you could use that to empty the mail box
also does it download the same mails all over if you connect again ?
and does it also do it if the mail is deleted ?

note, activesync was sync while i was testing.
The only way it seems, to keep an email on the phone after youve downloaded it in outlook (if this email is not your synched address) is to copy that email to another folder.
Maybe a thirdparty email app would be better than the built in program. Could be a project for me to do, tho im sure theres plenty out there
This is what I"m Interested in. When I send emails from my Tilt, I want them to save to my Sent box, Just Like a regular txt message. I have Mail2web email but they dont provide this feature for the free Account. I love mail2web but the no sent emails in the box is my only Gripe. Now to remedy this I tried setting up Gmail, But for some reason when I set up Gmail using Pop3 any outgoing mail I send will appear back in mt Inbox as Well as my sent Box( This is Very annoying). If I set up Gmail using Imap, nothing will get saved in the Sent Box....
Any Ideas or can anyone help me with this Bug in Gmail or a better way to set this up ?
As of yet I havent been able to fix this.
In outlook 2003+ on windows you can specify IMAP folders but as of yet on Winmo I havent been able to do this.

I Dont mean Including the Orginal txt in the Email. I mean it will resend me my out-going Email As a New email in my Inbox ?
It Does this online as Well from an actually Computer ? I"ve never experienced this ?
Has anyone ever found a solution to this ?
sending is not handled by pop3 or imap both those protocols are only for recieving
both of them use smtp for sending mails
i'm using IMAP for my gmail access and the default is to not sync the sent folder, anything i send only resides on gmail itself, i don't get it showing in my inbox as well. Haven't tried setting sent to sync as well, i don't need to see what i have sent.
mail2web is aggrivating me, any other FREE accounts out there? It wont sync 2 save my life,...
OK, just gone into the folder management side of my PPC's gmail account and flaged Sent items for sync as well as my Inbox and hey presto they have all appeared. Had to make sure the folder at the top was checked and not the obvious sent folder but its synching my sent items.
To clarify my PPC gmail folder list looks like this:
Gmail
[Google Mail]​All Mail
Bin
Drafts
Sent Mail
Spam
Starred​
and below this i have folders for any categories i have created as well as the default Inbox. Checking the top Sent Itmes has synched it with gmail.
I configured my work email to work with Nexus One's stock email app. I can download emails from the server, but there's a problem.
In the case of most messages, whenever I mark them as read, they are marked as unread again whenever I update my mail account from the server.
I deleted and configured this account 3-4 times already, but it's always the case.
Any fix?
EDIT:
When I configure it for the firs time, all the emails are unread. There are the ones that I actually open and they won't revert back to being unread. However, the ones that I just marked as read (with the "Mark Read" button while they are selected) revert back to being unread
same thing.
i thought it's something wrong with the email server (i have some live.com and hotmail.com email accounts installed). no problems with the gmail accounts tho.
to solve this annoying problem (if unread then you's keep receiving notifications), i have to open every single emails to actually 'read' them.
i am looking for a better way to solve this.

This is a bit offtopic, but do you find it slow to fetch messages too? My iPod Touch downloads messages for the same account faster
I have exactly the same problem on my N1..
If anyone knows how to fix, please tell us too. thanks.
p.s. I don't think it's problem at mail server, it should be the email app problem for sure. Because I using pop3. the read/unread status is handle at email client app.

Yep. My iPod Touch downloads the mails from the same server without any issue
I mentioned this before on another thread but I use my main Gmail to poll all my POP3 accounts which are then pushed to the Gmail App labelled. I don't use the Email App at all.
I am wondering if anyone else is experiencing the issues I am and if they were able to correct it.
I have two gmail addresses, One personal and one for business.
I have Thunderbird 3.0.4 setup on my laptop using gmail's IMAP
gmail online and Thunderbird on my laptop work good together and they both match (Messages/folders) as they sync constantly under IMAP.
I get my HD2 on the 24th of March. I set up both my personal and business email addresses on my phone (Using IMAP) with settings to download all messages... I click send/receive and nothing downloads to my phone...
None of my sent or to do messages sync with gmail and show up in my folders on my phone....
When new mail comes in sometimes I get it, sometimes I don't.... When I get home and check my Laptop I find all kinds of emails that my phone never got.
If I send an email from my phone, it sends fine, receiver gets the email ok but again, there is nothing in my sent folder (even with the "save sent mail in sent folder checked in settings)
I understand the purpose of IMAP is so all email clients sync and share the same information. This isn't the case with my phone.... I've deleted my email accounts and reinstalled them paying particular attention to the settings and each time I have the same end results....
Is anyone aware of a problem with this email client on the HD2.....or could it be gmail? I dunno, I can say I've never had any problems from gmail or Thunderbird before so it's very annoying not getting my email, especially my business emails
I even emailed gmail tech support and they said its my phone.... I guess I should of expected that response.

I use ICS CM9 email (not gmail). Have not found a setting to increase how many emails should be kept in the program. So if I check my emails and have 30 new all the old ones will disappear. There has to be a setting for this? Why can't I have a few hundred emails there?

Check sync options. And change days to sync from automatic to however long you want messages to show.

There is no "sync options". There is General settings and the email account settings. In email account settings, there is "incoming settings" but no setting for days (for IMAP. it might be if you're using exchange).
My conclusion is that this is not possible to increase from 25 emails for IMAP or POP. Which makes me wonder, how do everybody get by this? Reload older messages all the time? or everybody use K-9?
Android mail programs don't keep email messages.
You should set your mail account for keeping mails
on the server for xx-days before deleting them.
If you open your mailbox on your pc, it will by default
wipe your mails from your server, nd the next time you sync
/check with your phone all older messages wil be deleted

You misunderstand!
Android email program DOES keep email messages stored locally. The ICS Email app keeps 25 emails. When you get new emails it deletes the older ones locally. you can reload them from the server if you have the patience to wait and if you are online.
Is it really only me and REVHE4D in the whole world that are annoyed by this issue?
If I remember correctly, the Samsung email app does have settings for how many emails to store locally.
I have the same issue.. The Samsung ICS email client doesn't work that well for me, it doesn't delete emails properly.
The stock ICS Email app seems to have like no settings. Why don't they just let us use the GApps Gmail client for our own private imap/pop3 servers as well? The interface is slick, its integrated into the widgets/homescreen... It's so stupid that we're unable to add our own personal accounts to it.
No Nick5000, you are not the only one annoyed by this. I am too, especially because I clearly remember that on my old Galaxy S2 when I was running gingerbread, it kept all my emails up to 500. I don't know why they changed it down to 25.
