I don't usually delete, I went to backup first, but hit the wrong button.

Lately I found that froyo is still not stable enough for my touch HD (however it's still better than WinMO lol)
It sometimes crashes and when I restart my device then sometimes a "waiting for SD card problem" comes up or "error reading corrupt block message " or even it will not start at all.
This problem usually can be fixed by making a fresh install of froyo (deleting old files copying the fresh ones)
But the problem is, I have to re-install all my favorite apps again, making gmail sync again and again *sigh
Then after a good installation, I tried to make a backup copy of file data.img (found it on the root of my sdcard), then later when the froyo crashed, I replaced the existing data.img file with the backup file, restarting the device and ... it worked! No waiting for sd card problem and other problems.
The installation is also restored to the point where the backup copy of data.img is made, so I don't have to re-download my favorite apps again and don't have to make a gmail re-sync
My question is, am I doing the right thing?
What is exactly the data.img contains?
Is there any other files that need to be backup too?
Thanks!!
thnx for the tips.
U can also backup applications with the built-in backup-software.
It will copy all of ur software as apk files in ur sdcard.
where do you find the built in backup software?

you can backup all your favorite apps with "astro".
Astro is free ... you can find it on Market
then you can create, in the root of your sd card, a folder called "AndroidApps".
In this folder you can put all your .apk files (previously saved with "astro").
when you change you version of Android (no matter which version) the new boot load automatically all apps from the folder "AndroidApps"

will it save all of configurations too? or only apps?
If I use data.img I will get my phone booted exactly like when the data.img created. Including all settings and configurations.

I've got a number of backups, I can give them to you. Can you give me the filename in Titanium Backup? I started looking for it, but I've got nearly 1000 files in the backup directory and I started going blind trying to find them. ;-)
Thank you,
it is
com.acer.android.customization.downloadflash
and
com.acer.android.customization.fb
unfortunately I don't know the filename of the AcerSyncHelper.apk

On TB, Click menu button and there is backup option under the batch action. Just choose what you need.

ok, that I figured out, but lets say I install a new rom...where do I go to get the Titanium backup APK? so I can install it, and then restore my backups to the new rom? Thanks so much!!!
With a root explorer go to data/app and copy TB app somewhere on your phone, so next time you can just install it ?

Yes just use dejan sathanas suggestion. Btw if you installed new rom with no wipe, your internal sd card will not be wiped. You can save TB backup apk and after you finished installing new rom you can install TB using samsung file manager.
To save TB backup apk. Go to ES filemanager, click menu and find App manager under tool. Find Titanium backup, long press and select backup button. The backup app should be in sdcard/backup directory.

Thanks People...So easy...I just wasn't sure...that will save me tons of time as well for future rom installations.
I've always done it via TBU>main menu>special features >create update. zip
Flash with new ROM, job done
As a title says ...I just changed JB with KK,before i did it i made nandroid back up. I forgot to save important text document inside "notebook" app. Is there a way to restore (extract or get) that document wthout full restore ???
I never tried but there is an app called "Nandroid Manager" in Playstore which seems to do that.
If not working, you can search "extract from nandroid backup" in google, there are many other people asking the same question

well i bought nandroid manager and he do the trick but now i have a problem...can't find where are the data from the"NOTEBOOK" app stored????
any1 can help?
I am not sure at all but I found this folder using an explorer:
/data/user/0/com.lge.Notebook/databases
I have created a new note in Notebook app, and the files timestamps in this folder have changed.
Maybe you should try to replace them with your old files and see if that works.

The notes you had made on our previous notebook should be in the android/data folder
Sent from LG-G2 D800 on AEONFLEX 4.4.2
Yes, sorry, I found them in sdcard/Android/data/com.lge.Notebook/files. So, they will not be in the nandroid backup except if you backuped ext sdcard too. It is strange if they have disappeared though (except if the location has changed between JB and KK).

no nandroids are for backing up the rom you were using at that moment(so that it may be restored if needed), and the things that can be restored from it are mainly apps/themes/system files that you had been running

Is the backup place checked in the overview page of titanium backup? Maybe the image is corrupt or you did not select the the right folder. Did you tried reinstall titanium backup?

Use the “verify backups” option to see if there are errors with the data. If there is, something went wrong during the backup procedure to invalidate it.

Make a new backup of any app and try to restore. If it does, see if the backup of that app is in the same folder where your whatsapp backup is. Just to check the location.
