Does anyone know where I can get Honeycomb Chinese for the Xoom? I know it was released in China recently and was looking to install on the wifi Xoom I bought a few weeks back.
Thanks

MZ606 (Chinese wifi version) seems the same hardware and MZ604, MZ606 MZ604's stock rom flashing is working.
If you just need the locale to be in Chinese, you can try More Locale 2 from the market. I can change the locale language on the Xoom with this app.
But if the Chinese Xoom has it's own 3rd party apps... yeah you need the rom.
Hmmm, not sure what we be the best route to take. I bought this wifi Xoom for my sister when it first was released. But my sister is in Taiwan and would prefer to be able to navigate through the system if it were in Chinese. Since I'm here visiting I figured I could perhaps load it for her before I go back home.
What would you guys recommend? Loading the Chinese install? Or using that More Locale app?
Thanks for all the assistance.
Just tried MoreLocale. Works nice but I realized I'd still need Chinese input without having to using the voice method.

Off my boss at work! - I guess it has the US ICS on it... but its really nice.
Any problems...
Are there any downsides to using a US rom?
For example:
Keyboard Layouts
Access to Apps from the Play Store
Access to other content from the Play Store
Other regonalization issues
On the flip sides, apart from the benefits of ICS itself, what would I gain from switching to a US rom as a UK user?
That's a pretty generic question, sorry, but I'd love ICS and would wait, but if there's no downsides I'll get it now.
Thanks

Made the same switch myself and glad i did
keyboard layouts - pretty much the same apart from the £ and $
Play Store - Not had any issues myself and the prices comes up in £
being on a US rom means your going to get ota updates quicker than the uk
I briefly installed the US ROM, but quickly changed to team EOS due to the US locale annoying me!
- US Keyboard Layout
- US date format
- US English spelling (Damn annoying with autocorrect!)
I also need to occasionally write in German, so the lack of other languages (except Spanish IIRC) was also a problem for me!
I have been running the US ROM since HC 3.1 - not had any issues really
I thought the UK language keyboard stuff was in ICS now? if not then I havent noticed an issue at all - market is still all english anyway - it doesn't go on ROM region for the apps
So at the risk of being stupid...
So at the risk of being stupid... I'm guessing it's possible to switch back should I hit any locale issues?
The way I read it if I flash to a US Rom, I should be able to flash to the UK variant when it is released (should I decide to bother).
Assuming I do go ahead:
1. If I stay on the US Rom will OTA updates work?
2. Similarly, if I can then switch to UK ICS, should OTA updates continue to work for this too?
Apologies for the newbie posts, I have been reading the boards for a long time, but what I've remembered in my addled brain has left me somewhat confused.
TIA.

So i have my nexus 7 and it runs fine... got a rom on it.. no problems at all..
but i just bought a second one that i plan on giving to family in russia when i go visit them next week...
being a US user, i have never had any issues using the device but i am wondering how i can make it fully compatible for use in Russia...
the obvious answer is to choose russian as the language during setup but thats not enough... half the things are still written in english and all music shown is american...
what can i do to make it better capable for use in russia?
thanks

Basically the nook has seen a big price cut in the UK, and has subsequently sold a lot, it looks like US stock has leaked into the UK and are been shipped out by major retailers, it's just happened in the last few days so not much atm.
Any ideas how to change it? Even when I log in with my Nook UK account it still brings up the US store, whilst this is fine for me, I got it as a gift and need the UK store for them.
So far I've tried getting the UK firmware and putting it on the nook, the nook does nothing visibly but it is deleting the firmware file so it's seeing it, but won't install it.
Any ideas?
I sorted it from this thread:

I imagine an official fix will be released as it seems fairly widespread.
I've created my own guide that lets you switch between UK And USA software, it's here:

this is very interesting, and if I have a US account, will I be able to activate my nook in UK? What does it change in the UK version?
My nook is US but i read that with UK I can have Italian, is it true?
My Nook UK account worked when my nook was running on the US software so I imagine it will work the other way round.
I've compared the two regions software.
There's very little difference, just the store region, build.prop (with region settings), and the screensavers as the UK ones are multilingual.
And yes the UK nook includes Italian as a language option.
ok so it's worth the upgrade to have italian
thank you very much!
for your info i just changed my nook from US to UK and now it's all in italian, thank you very much!
@ theronkinator thanks a bunch mate and very simple process
cheers :highfive:
It is still possible to change from US to UK? I read that B&N is no longer available.
I want to change it just to have some dictionaries

Here's what you want: https://sites.google.com/site/xcdguides/nook/nookregion
But be aware that it has been reported (long ago) that by-passing registration (or Oobe) results in rapid battery drain during normal use.
Hi,
I have a Dual Sim N9002 version and others, like me, have been figuring out what we can and can't do with our version. We've been using this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=46614873
We have phones aimed at the Chinese market, which means Chinese bloatware, keyboard and other annoyances (to westerners). My biggest annoyance is with the keyboard really. I have found a solution but can't help feeling it's a bit of a long workaround.
Ideally i would like the standard Samsung keyboard that comes with USA or Europen version (I have seen it in Youtube vids). Instead I am using Google keyboard and Stylus Beta. It's not hard to switch between those two (space bar hold) but I get the impression the Samsung one would be more convenient.
I have seen the app on play store, which seems to show the western version, but when I try to install it I can't because it's 'installed'. Well yeh it is, but it's the Samsung Chinese IME. It looks different but the most annoying thing is it doesn't add spaces between words (cos it's supposed to be charactercharactercharacter like their written language. The western version look very much like Stylus Beta, which I think is great but might be limited.
Any ideas on what i can do?

Hey,........
I'm on a buisness trip in Japan.
Amazon Japan have right know very good prices for the Fire HD 10 (64GB). It's about 140$. In germany the price is about 235$ (without ads). I'm thinking to buy 2 devices (for my kids).
I googled already that I can switch the language, but Alexa will be missing. I would like to have alexa on these devices.
Is it possible to flash a kind of "european" stock rom to the device to get alexa working?
Google can't help here. Maybe I'm just blind.
thanky you

The only stock ROM available is the one supplied by Amazon.
Hi and thanks for you reply.
So it should be enough just to change the language and everything should work out of the box?
If it's not working, due to whatever reason, I can download the stock rom and just flash the Fire HD 10 in recovery mode and go through the settings? That's it?
I Just need Alexa working and the german system laguages.
thank you
