I normally have my Mini S on suspend when it's in the pouch. I have for some reason been unable to recieve messages. The last SMS I got was from O2 when I turned the phone on the 1st time. Can anyone help me out on this? I don't really need MMS...just SMS.
Not receiving? or not getting the notification?
If its not receiving, how long has it been? networks sometimes get screwed up and hold messages in the server for ages. having said that "since i first turned the phone on" sounds like longer than 24 hrs.
Put the sim in another phone (if poss) - does it work?
I cant think of any real settings for SMS, they just arrive! If the SMS works in another phone follow it up here and hopefully someone will eb able to help. if it doesn't work in another phone, its a network issue - call O2.
If its the notifications you are missing, let us know - thats much easier!
I will give it a go in another phone but it's been a week since I turned the phone on. I'm not totally sure what you're referring to as notifications but I just don't see any messages when I go to the Text Messages folder in POE.
Ok...here's what I did, I stuck my sim into my friend's mobile and no backlog of SMSes arrived. I put the sim back in mine and then had him send me a message. Thing is the device was not suspended and I recieved the message immediately. I have my device normally in the suspend state. Could that be the problem?
I have my wizard in suspend (time out, press top button once etc) and have no problems picking up messages, they wake the device.
Notifications = the beep or sound for a text, wakes the device and puts the left softkey to show you have a SMS - it gives a preview there.
You say when you swapped out your sim you didn't get a backlog of messages so there isn't a load on the server waiting for you.
Last possible idea from me atm, you're not in the e-mail or MMS inbox are you? just checking
Well, I have checked the notifications and no, they're set as they should be and I do check the Text Messages folder. I have yet to setup email anyway :?
I wonder...if it's a network problem...damnable.
it sounds to me that its a phone issue not network. i'm on 02 and have now problem when my mini s is in stanby mode. it just switches on and beeps and a notification window appears.
cheers
Ok, now after subscribing to SMS.ac (just to send 1 single message and then terminate it) I got a total of 4 messages -1 confirmation for joining, 1 confirmation of joing, 1 test message, 1 cancellation message.
I cancelled when I noted that it was .5 / message . I'm puzzled. Maybe there was indeed a problem with the sim?

im having problems with my notifications of SMS, i recieve them fine but get no notification at all, i chack the sound settings and its all set up the same as standard but i get nothing any help??
The Sony Ericsson x1 is £500s worth of so called smart phone
But the one thing I realy cant stand about it is that it wont auto que text messages.
By this I mean.... if I try to send a text message with no signal I get a big nastey red message saying something allong the lines of Message Was Not Sent. Try again? and a loud anoying beep to follow
What I want...... Is to be able to hit send, jam the phone back in my pocket and get back to what I was doing. Happy in the knowledge that if I didnt have signal when I sent the message, it will automaticly re-send as soon as I walk into signal.
This is nothing new both my old phones had it (w200i & w300i both cost less than £40) if anybody knows of a way fix this or has the brains to create a way to fix this then id drop to my knees and worship you! Coz I dont know how much longer I can stand walking around my house with both my arms in the air beeping instead of sending a text.
ALL THOSE THAT AGREE THIS NEEDS FIXING PLEASE POST
Message Was Not Sent. Try again?
Its a PPC not a smartphone
But yes it is pretty lame but i can deal with it
yep if somebody can think of a way to fix this - would be much appreciated!
no fixes im afraid matey
we all here just learn to live with the lame ass excuse of a device this can be
but hey for me it does 7 outa the 10 things i need!
Dont lose hope! there are people out there smart enuff to put a phone in a phone (TF3D) SOMEONE SOMEWHERE WILL SAVE US! untill then im just gonna keep moneing

I dont realy have a problem with makeing calls I found that if my signal drops I just go into comm manager turn phone off then on and 3 seconds later I get 2 bars were I had no signal b4 sometimes poor quality but no beeping or 40 cannot make call so up yours .!.. messages. works for me eveytime but not with messageing
Honestly, the Treos I had... 600, 650, 680, ALL already auto-retried if you sent an SMS out of coverage.
In fact, I can (and have experienced) a few situations this is useful. FOR EXAMPLE:-
1) Hiking outback, with spotty coverage, I could set it to send an SMS letting my family/gf/whoever know I am safe and will be home at XXX time, and the SMS will auto-send as soon as there is a brief signal.
2) Sometimes, the signal is weak enough that a voice call won't work, but an SMS could actually be sent. In this situations, allowing the phone to take care of sending the SMS with the weak signal works better since it auto-resends repeatedly until it goes through.
3) When on the airplane, I had my phone on plane mode (no signal), and I would queue up a bunch of SMS messages to friends to let them know I arrived. As soon as I land, I turn off the plane mode (turn on the signal) and it punches out all the queued up SMS messages.
These are just a few I can think of that I used, I'm sure there are many other situations this would be useful to have auto-retry sending messages.
Anyone have good ideas?!
I find it annoying i can't stop a message being sent once I press the send button (accidentaly or otherwise).
good thing i always have signal in netherlands Oo
im too cheap to get the text message plan with att, so i asked them to block the service for me all together
lack of text message can be make up for by having unlimited internet

What if the plane crashes and you don't survive but your phone does? Sour aftertaste for friends and family that would be
It never happened to me, but I found a setting in the MMS settings, which says in case of failure, retry x times. My phone is in french, but if I try to translate litterally, it is (from your SMS inbox) :
Menu - MMS options - Number of tries in case of failure : and then select 5 in the listbox.

Its usefull to know that you can prep messages ready to sent, but how dose it work? if I send a text with phone off and then flick it on will it auto send the message when it finds signal?

Well, the PalmOS Treos worked that way. They'll queue up, and as soon as a signal is detected, it sends all the queued up SMS.

Unfortunately, this only affects MMS, not SMS. So it retries MMS, not SMS.
i was having these issues, and it is the cell company.
tmo was giving me the run around talking the x1 is not supported. but then i had them dissconnect my line and refresh m connection to their network and have not had a problem yet.
il get onto vodafone then see what they say, iv asked sony ericsson about it and they wernt any help They also told me theres no way to stop the experiance panel from changeing colour thay say its a feature of the phone
Whos idea was it to call the cancel button the ok button lol. I still havnt sussed out how to use it. Sometimes it closes programs and somtimes it dosnt
sometimes it will let me switch programs and sometimes it wont? madness lol
I just got my Jade last week and found out this issue of it not being able to run the schedule email receive/send for every 15 mins (doesn't work on 10 or 30 either... did not try the others) when in sleep mode. However, it seems to work fine when I put it to charge.
Another issue is the sms notification (saw that in another thread but no solution thus far). It doesn't seems to vibrate or play the notification sound when new sms arrives after sleeping for a long while. However, when I wake it up (pushing the on/off button), it will immediately vibrate and plays the notification sound. I suspect it could be due to me charging the phone overnight. It looks like it is happening when the phone is fully charged.
Not sure anyone there facing the same problem?
ROM: 1.40.707.2 (21259)
Although I think the Jade is the best HTC phone I've owned (and I've owned many), it does have one big issue with its behaviour in suspend mode. I posted a thread on the problems with Microsoft Direct Push here earlier - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=457516
Other symptoms you might see are text message (SMS) notifications not always coming through until you resume from suspend and other 3rd party software failing to respond to events in suspend mode.
I've got an ongoing case open with HTC support on this issue - despite providing detailed information, including ActiveSync logs from the device itself they are still in the denial phase. I would urge anyone else with any of these "suspend" mode issues to report them to HTC support - maybe if they start getting a few reports of the same issue they'll investigate it properly and fix it in a subsequent firmware update (assuming they're ever going to release a bug-fix firmware update for the 3G).
SMS
In fact it's set like that, i don't know why but you should get the advenced config tool somewhere in this forum and you can enable these settings in Messaging.
Hello everyone!
I've got some weird issues with my Samsung Focus. Throughout the day, my phone doesn't receive any messages. It can be for periods of 10 hours. If I shut off my phone for a minute, then turn it on, I'll either get a message then another a minute later..etc.. Or I'll get a flood of messages at one time. The messages were all sent from the past, and come in the proper order, but not at the right times (they have a delay). I didn't have this issue until I started looking around at my diagnostic application so I believe I accidently changed a setting in it. I've already talked to at&t but the store here won't do much with it because the water indicator is red. I have my phone in developer unlocked state (I sideload apps and apps that I make). The reset data functions don't seem to change the diagnostic settings back, so I'm thinking I'll have to flash it with an original rom, but I'm not an expert by any means, but I'll understand whatever instructions or tests that are given.
Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. I haven't had a phone that never had text messaging issues so this is a bit annoying for me when people think you're ignoring them.

Has anyone had any issues with Google Chat on their Xoom?
For the last couple of days my comments would appear at the bottom of the conversation, and the other party's would appear at the top of the conversation. This is instead of sequential order, it is really frustrating and increadibly hard to decipher. Has anyone else had this problem, or have any ideas for a fix?
is the time/timezone on your xoom incorrect? I had that the first day with my phone because I was set to automatically update my time via my carrier - and my carrier didn't fix the time change until mid-day... all gchat convos looked odd because I was writting an hour early and getting replies an hour late.
Ok that might not make sense. Check time/timezone.
Have not had any issues like this and I use my Gtalk everyday. Like MitchRapp said, Time/timzone would be a good thing to check. Try to check what the gtalk log says on your gmail account, might give some clues..
I get that on my Evo's text message app when one of hour phone's clocks are off.
Thanks guys, the time was the issue.
I had been traveling and I manually updated the clock because it didn't do it automatically because airplane mode was on. Very relieved.
