[Q] IMEI Missing, cannot add APNs etc. - Blade General

I have flashed Cyanogen Mod 7 (.0.2) onto my Blade, but now it has stopped being able to connect to the network (GiffGaff, was working previously on JJ ROM); and I cannot add APN settings ( There are currently no settings either ).
When I try to get the IMEI with *#06# I just get "IMEI" and no number (although it is printed on the inside of the phone so it's no issue to find it ).
Thanks for any help.

Did you use the windows flasher method to convert your blade from gen1 to gen2 by any chance?
You can check your IMEI also by going through: Settings> About phone> Status (scroll towards the bottom). It's there anything showing?
With regards to your APNs, download APN backup from android market. It has a setting that can delete all APNs. You can then enter them manually or reflash CM7

I too cannot add APNs. Cannot Acess internet and hence a deadlock.
Motorola Defy

if you flash your device in pc method , you can watch this by google trans to get back

[Q] network apn save

question: how to save network apn on meizu mx
details: meizu mx 032, using flyme 1.1.7(a9904)
with giffgaff sim
giffgaff sim recognised automatically, i.e. shows when i pull down main screen
however giffgaff doesn't show in network > apns
which show under 'apn access point' heading = o2 mobile web, o2 prepay, tesco.. and under 'mms' = o2 mms
the problem is that saving apn (existing of new) corrupts network/apns
tried:
1. with old flyme version (probably 1.1.4 or 1.1.5) with same problem
2. with flyme 1.1.7, if i just open existing apn, say tesco.. and only change the name to tesco2.. and click save.. and restart the android..... then it's all gone.. and problem crept
3. even after factory reset new apn addition, like for giffgaff.. fails. and then it's all gone
4. reset to default doesn't bring anything
5. and neither does restart/reboot
workaround: only factory reset works
debug:
1 wanted to find and edit config file where apn entry resides, but until now couldn't find the config file, as it must be somewhere in system partition as i can't access to it, even after enabling usb debugging, as these partitions aren't visible when i connect to computer... i can see data partition though
2. also disabled flyme sync, and google sync, to ensure that it's not syncing with my old copies of network.. as factory reset followed by sync(may be) caused same problem
3. later on will probably try with o2 sim
4. tried with android apps like 'giffgaff apn', 'apn manager, 'apn backup and restore', etc.. none work.. and these apps do say that this version of android doesn't allow apn 'saving'..or something like that

Fixing 0 IMEI

Hello. I've been getting a lot of emails on how to do that and i thought i should make a thread here.
Now you got to have the original box in which there is the imei written. I don't take any credit for this guide as i didn't write it but i found it somewhere here but it doesn't exist anymore. I'm not responsible for any damage may happen to your phone. I did it several times after flashing official 2.3.5.
It has worked fine with my IDEOS X5 U8800.

Thanks a lot... now I got my imei back. But now I have one another problem, I installed ics rom and now my wifi Mac id is 00:00:00:00:00:00. Are they related?

This procedure did not work for me. I found it a couple of weeks ago in another thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1591997) and gave it a try (numerous times) without success. I was able to complete all steps up until actually writing the new IMEI. I attempted to write it a couple of dozen times without any success. It appears to work but the lMEI never actually changes.
I also found another procedure using a program called NVedit but it would give me an error stating the NV location was set to read only (I forget the actually wording). It seems that my phone has the location that contains my IMEI locked in some way that nothing can change it. So I gave up on that phone and am using a different one that I bought on eBay, brand new at a dirt cheap price ($27.00).

Yes, I am rooted.
I started out on 2.2 way back in the beginning. Then I flashed 2.3.5. That's when I lost my IMEI and replaced the phone.
But I wanted to keep experimenting at getting it working 100% even though I had a new working, rooted, and customized phone. Using 5IromToolBox I restored a backup from the new phone to the broken phone just to see if it would work. Then I flashed Stallion-51-ICS custom ROM. It is a GB based ROM with look and feel of ICS.
When I run the procedure in this thread, everything looks as though it has worked, but the IMEI never changes. So what did 5Irom do differently that it was able to restore the backup from a different phone but I cannot use DFS or NVEditor to write to the locations? The back I made from the new phone and restored to the old one is Consumer Cellular so I suspect they have locked something out that 5Irom is able to get around but other tools don't.
On another note, just for the heck of it I tried to upgrade to ICS from GB and it fails on the first update step. Go figure.
If I could find a full-flash procedure for the pro and 51 versions of this phone I suspect I could resolve all issues. Who knows?
UPDATE: I went through the whole process again and noted a point I forgot to mention. In DFS at the bottom of the screen EQF is yellow, not green. I don't recall exactly what that means but in reading through the DFS doc, it states that writing a new IMEI is not possible as long as EQF is yellow. When I enter my IMEI and click on the WRITE command the response is "MODECHANGE OfflineD OK"

it should be green! what i would do is to flash 2.2 then 2.3.5 and follow again the steps very carefully! maybe u ever flashed a partition and it's not the default one? i can't really help you :/ try this and if it doesn't work make a thread in the q&a section

Yeah, I knew that it should be green. The bottom line is I do not have the 2.2 image to flash. I would have done that a long time ago if I had it. All I have is the DiskImage backup that I made off of my new phone. When I flashed it onto the old phone it starts, displays the Consumer Cellular logo for about ten seconds then shuts off immediately. As far as starting a thread in Q & A, I did that weeks ago and got nowhere fast.
Any link I have found for the original 2.2 for -51 and pro is usually a broken link. or it takes me to download that stupid iLivid program that doesn't do squat to get the files I need. I did find a DiskImage file that somebody made and posted but it is almost 4 gig in size. You are supposed to use Pink Screen to load it but Pink Screen only gives me access to the image directory and it's only 256 meg.
Thank you for your time and suggestions.
I believe in the wiki section there are links to default 2.2 and 2.3.5. The ones I found a long time ago were from Blefish, although I'm not sure. Good luck!

Hi.
I try to download the "Drivers for Android 32 and 64 bit win 7 (not tested )", but its a dead link. I run win7 pro, and somehow the 32 bit driver doesn't work.
Would like to try the 64 bit driver. Could u reupload it, please?
I just did a repost cause i veen asked a lot of times I don't have the files and I don't thinks drivers are needed. You could just install huawei's suite for PC

Hi All,
Many thanks for this post.
Iv recently installed the Blefish CM11 rom for U8800 and its works fine. Only issue I have is IMEI=0. I can make and receive calls and even use the mobile internet.
My question is - Is there a way to edit the IMEI no on KK4.4.2 ROM through entering in the engineering mode?
or else, will have to start from the beginning (stock rom process as mentioned in the OP).
thanks for your help.

Hi,
I haven't found out the way to fix it yet.
Only way I got to fix is to redo the stock rom, root, save the imei and the reflash the custom rom.
The reason for the imei issue was changing the partitions
thnx anyways

[WIP] Enable additional 3G / LTE Band on YU Yureka

WORK IN PROGRESS.. UNTIL NOW NOT GETTING 100%
This was for CM11s, Don't try on CM12s
As soon as we found right procedure we'll Update here
This tutorial is not for newbies.. If you are not little advance user don't do this
After reboot Values reset to Orignal setting (Reset)
need to prevent NV recovery
1. Download Files Here containing all the necessary files and extract it on desktop.
2. Enable Android Debugging on your phone and connect it to your computer,
3. Open up ADB and type the following:
Code:
adb shell
su
setprop sys.usb.config diag,adb
4. Launch Device Manager go to & expand Other Devices,
Right click Android (or something related) listed under that menu
Choose Update Driver Software,
Browse my computer for driver software,
Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer,
Just Click Next,
Have Disk,
Browse to where you extracted YU Diagnostics Driver folder
Inside you will find 32bit and 64bit versions, pick one as per your OS
Select htcdiag.inf (for 32bit) or HtcUsbMdmV64.inf (for 64bit) file that you will Open.
Accept all warning messages and let the installation of the driver complete.
5. Once everything is done installing, under Modems or Ports (Com & LPT) in Device Manager you will find HTC USB Modem.
Right click and select Properties; in this you will see Port: COM<number>. Remember that COM<number> or write it down.
6. Open QPST v2.7 Build 4.11 > run as administrator setup.exe (Don’t run QPST.2.7.411.msi)
7. Open QPST Configuration from Start Menu,
Go to the Ports tab,
Click on Add New Port (right bottom corner);
In the Port field type in the COM<number> you wrote down/remembered from step 5 and in Port Label type YU and finally click OK (left bottom corner).
If you've followed all the steps correctly until here, you should be able to see something like this in the Active Phones tab:
View attachment 3258366
Keep QPST Configuration window open

9. Open QXDM Professional (run as administrator),
go to Options menu,
Select Communications
Set Target port to your phone COM<number> you wrote down/remembered from step 5 from dropdown list, Press OK.
View attachment 3258367
10. Back to QXDM main window, in the "View" drop-down menu, selects NV Browser
View attachment 3258368
now the fun part begins
View attachment 3259381
Put check mark on Dual SIM (as shown above SS) for apply all setting to both SIMs (Thanks to @tirta.agung)
11. Inside the NV Browser window,
Scroll down and click on line 01877 (rf_bc_config)
Click the Read button save original value in notepad in case something goes wrong.
Replace Input value with 3460734838925427584
Click on Write button.
12. Inside the NV Browser window,
Scroll down and click on line 00946 (band_pref_16_31);
Click the Read button, save original value in notepad in case something goes wrong.
Replace Input value with 0x0FF8 (please don't be an idiot and don't edit the empty one with "nam" in the name)
Click on Write button.
13. Inside the NV Browser window,

scroll down and click on line 00441 (band_pref);
click the Read button, save original value in notepad in case something goes wrong.
replace Input value with 0x380 or 0xFFFF (please don't be an idiot and don't edit the empty one with "nam" in the name)
click on Write button.
If you have problem with selection, you can edit it directly from your phone: *#*#4636#*#* /Phone information /Menu /Select radio band > Automatic
15. Inside the NV Browser window,
scroll down and click on line 06828 (lte_bc_config);
click the Read button, save original value in notepad in case something goes wrong.
replace Input value with 1904863 (please don't be an idiot and don't edit the empty one with "ext" in the name)
click on Write button.
16. Now Close QXDM; Wait 30 seconds,
disable Android Debugging on your phone,
unplug it and reboot your device;
Once it comes back on, it might take a minute or two for it to acquire signal so don't panic.
DO this on your own risk.. No body is responcible for any lost
Conclusion:
The only real way to know if the whole thing got applied is to do steps 1 through 10 again (obviously skipping installations)
and reading all values or if you are in an area where you previously had bad or no reception.
You can see unlocked GSM/UMPTS bands from the *#*#4636#*#* /Phone information /Menu /Select radio band

Don't forget to put check marks on dual sims, and apply all settings to sim0 and sim1 (see attachment). By the way before u messed things up, back up your modemst1, modemst2, fsc, and fsg.
By the way we can also use qxdm to recover lost imei, just go to 0550, and insert your imei for SIM 1 (sim0 in qxdm) and SIM 2 (sim1 in qxdm), for example:
Code:
If your IMEI was: 954091051099226, then the boxes would look like so:
8
9a
45
90
1
15
90
29
62
or also recover lost esn (item no 0 and 5597) or meid (1943 and 5598).

If it's the same as the 1+1, replacing /system/bin/rmt_storage with a version not locked would prevent nv recovery (do you know if NV values were sticking in an older version? If so, take it's rmt_storage and try to replace current one with older one, I think it's worth trying)

Hmmm, as far as I know, all NV settings, including IMEI, or MEID, ESN, etc, resides in your modemst1 and modemst2 partition. If you don't believe me and eager to try, first make a backup of those two partitions, then format or wipe the two partition inside your phone (use fastboot to do this), I'll bet for your YU, now your IMEI and NV settings are all gone.
To be honest, I just found out from this thread that there is an rmt_storage in CM phones, wkwkwkwkw, . If the rmt_storage function is trough, then CM is locking the phone NV settings from the HLOS side not Non-HLOS side. I'll do some research on this rmt_storage.

Hi there, attached is boot.img and a hack rmt_storage for CM 12.1. Just flash the boot.img to your phone and connect it with QXDM. Your phone will be recognized as qualcomm diagnostic port 903A. Copy and paste (you can use TWRP's file manager to do this) the rmt_storage to "/system/bin" and change its permission (chmod) to 0755. This will make your changes stick upon reboot.
By the way, to use all these files, you need to be on stock CM 12.1. I haven't tried it on any other ROM.

@ekhasti
I have tried doing this on Yureka - CM11 XNPH05Q. Installed all the drivers & softwares successfully. When I startup the QPST config to add a new port,
1. I have to uncheck the "Show serial and USB/QC diag ports only" to make the HTCUSBModem port visible.
2. Although I am able to add the port successfully I am unable to see the phone number, it says "No Phone".
Since it is unable to get the phone details I am unable to proceed further. Nothing is visible/editable QXDM. either.
I have manually edited the build.prop file to make sure USB debugging is enabled but to no avail. Please check the attached files, what is it that I am missing?
P.S - I am able to get my IMEI number using *#06#
Any suggestion Guys???

Note 4 AT&T No Preferred Network Mode in Settings

Hi Guys,
i have a problem with my Note 4. I attached a screenshot and you can see that there is no Preferred Network Mode option in it. I also try the code (*#*#4636#*#*) for hidden menu to change it but nothing happens coz when i changed the setting from GSM/LTE/Auto to GSM/CDMA/LTE/Auto and go back from the menu it will be revert automatically.
Can someone fixed it or have any solution???
Is there any one to help ????
I believe it requires a build prop or csc code edit that requires root for the settings menu but the service menu method should work as long as you do it correctly...and I say correctly not assuming your doing it wrong but to encinuate that there is a certain way you have to enter the keys..... Google it and you should be able to find a video

[GUIDE] unlock APN settings on stock firmware

if you have a problematic firmware that won't allow you to edit your APN settings in the dialer hidden menu, this may be what you need.
first, the warnings:
1. THIS IS ONLY FOR SPRINT SAMSUNG PHONES RUNNING TOUCHWIZ ROMS!!! never attempt on any other carrier or manufacturer's device or alternate roms! it should most likely work on other Samsung Sprint devices with stock/touchwiz roms.
2. DEPENDING ON DEVICE, YOU ARE MOST LIKELY TO BE FORCED TO FACTORY RESET YOUR DEVICE IN THE PROCESS, which likely includes LOSS OF ALL DATA ON INTERNAL SD!! take all necessary precautions.
3. ROOT REQUIRED
4. you will STILL NEED your MSL number!!!
5. have a FULL backup in TWRP ready in case anything goes wrong. INCLUDE your EFS in the backup!!! again, INCLUDE YOUR EFS. make sure it's stored on EXTERNAL sd card. again, EXTERNAL SD CARD!!! or copy it to your PC if you don't have an external card.
here's the short but sweet guide.
1. download "Samsung Phone Info" from Google Play
2. swipe over to the CSC section.
here you should see:
Firmware's CSC Code
Active CSC Code
Available CSC Code
3. if Firmware's AND Active both say XAS, you should already be able to edit your APNs using your MSL number.
if Firmware and Active codes do not match, you have a dirty rom and I am unable to help you correct it, you'd best try a different stock based rom or 3rd party that allows it by default.
if Available CSC Codes does NOT include "XAS" then whoever modified the customized stock touchwiz rom you're using removed it and you'd best try a different stock based rom or 3rd party that allows it by default.
4. using any CSC editor, change "SPR" in ALL places it appears as only the 3 letters "SPR" to XAS
5. confirm changes and reboot. you will now most likely lose ALL personal data on your phone and should now be able to edit your APN using your MSL inside the dialer's hidden menu.

Have you found a way to retrieve your MSL without calling sprint? I've tried all the tool apps in the play store and using a logcat within the ##3282# menu with no luck. Getprop ril.MSL yields nothing, not even a not found error.
I've tried calling sprint for my MSL but refuse to release it.. I'm not exactly on their "nice" list - they've even called to tell me I'm "using too much of my [UNLIMITED] data" many times so I don't expect much from them anymore..
Any help or direction would be greatly appreciated
try the Sprint chat -- through the website, NOT Facebook, and have a good reason ready as to why you need the MSL, other than for bypassing their security lol
Holy **** after searching high and low I have FINALLy found a way to get back editing my APNS for hotspot on my rooted Sprint Note 5! AND I keep Android Pay! Thanks so much!!
This works perfectly! Only thing is turn on hotspot option disappeared from settings. I can turn it on and off from the top bar if I swipe down. OR I can download a hotspot shortcut app and access it from that app.
Also I noticed my icons for LTE now say 4G and the bars are different too - more old school.
I noticed I changed EVERY SPR to XAS - do ALL of them NEED to be changed to enable APN editing? Can I switch back the ones that give me back hotspot option in settings and stock LTE & bars icons?

this **might** be fixed by renaming (or deleting, if you're brave) the features.xml file, if I remember correctly, stored in system/csc/ or system/etc/ not sure honestly
features.xml.backup should do just fine.
if the rom doesn't boot afterwards or if the dragons catch all your apps on fire, go back to recovery and use TWRP's file manager to change it back
also, any xposed app (like wanam's) or other feature.xml adjusting apps (like GalaxyTools or Samsung Phone Info) can cause the problem to happen again.
the alternative / temporary / dirty-fix would be to create a shortcut to hotspot on your home screen:
1. download Activity Launcher from Google Play
2. launch and change recent activities to all activities
3. wait approximately 72 years for it to load
4. scroll to Settings and tap it
5. scroll to Hotspot and long-press it
6. tap create shortcut
7. never uninstall Activity Launcher -- instead just make it a hidden app (it's very small anyways)
I can just longpress hotspot toggle in slide down drawer from top no probz. Which CSC settings modifies the ability to edit APN? I want to put the rest back to SPR.

I used the msl code and everything appears the way you say it should... but the phone STILL says invalid sim!
What internal file must be deleted, the thing is unlocked on sprints end it just wont let go !
