Hi,
I just switched to nightly 61 of CM7 tday (using 2.3.4!) but my phone starts to reboot itself after a couple of minutes. I couldn't turn out yet whether it's any application or the ROM itself. I didn't wipe, so maybe it's related to an incompability of a certain app.
Did anyone of you also face this problem? I am not really willing today to reestablish all the apps and data from Titanium, so I just like to know wether any of you also faces the problem.
I just went back to nightly 58.
Running on nightly 62 no problems so far.

Make sure you don't overclock, it makes the device unstable.
There is no overclocking activated., but thanks for the hint!
Does the wifi more stable? because on cm7.0.2 and on nightly #58 sometimes does not see the wifi network that i use. some days does find anothers dont.
The gps is more stable, but the wifi isnĀ“t at 100% yet!

I still face the same problem with 62 (without wipe) - I could see it happened when juicedefender was trying to establish connection (may be it's just a coincidence), nevertheless I went back to 58
@ICavalera - I do not have wifi issues on 58, seems to run stable for me
Have you tried a different radio? Are you overclocking?
hi, no overclocking and also flashed another radio. same behaviour. I'll try with cm7 63 now
I get it but only when jit is enabled...Open browser and turn wifi on *BAM* reboots twice to splash screen then onwards to OS JIT is now off and no problems!
If it doesn't work do an adb logcat and keep using till it reboots.
adb logcat > C:\Log.txt (if your hd is C:/)

I don't know what causes it but sometimes my hero will show no signal (with an x over the bars) when I reboot. Once the phone is unlocked I get several force close messages for various apps. The same thing would keep happening no matter how many times I rebooted. The call settings menu is grayed out and if I try to hold the power button and turn on or off the mobile network the phone resets and the problem continues. Previously I would factory reset and every thing would work again but that was a pain. I have found that uninstalling any program and then rebooting will get me going again, which is better than a factory reset but it is still a pain.
Can anyone point me in the direction of a solution?
Are you running stock, are you running a custom ROM, and which one?
I am running stock
is it rooted or not?
I am running on fresh custom ROM and I have the same problem. Does anyone know what to do?? Or know of any new custom ROMs??
It is stock not rooted
Do you have more than 70 apps installed? Because it will do that if you do.
sprint hero no signal on reboot
try updating the prl.
it won't let you since the phone radio force closes
@rootwind
yes I have more than 70 apps. Is this problem unique to the hero? Can I fix it by downloading another ROM?

This is unique to the Sprint Hero... haven't found a ROM that didn't have this problem yet, but I've only tried the 1.5 ones.
Some people supposedly don't have this problem, but no idea why they don't.
To get it to work again you need to get back to under 70 apps and reboot.
I'm one of those people that don't have that problem. Right now I have 88 apps installed (not including the stock ones). That is most likely your problem though. Might not be exactly 70 so just uninstall a couple and reboot and see if it works. Only time it ever happened to me was when I installed a bunch of apps from the market at the same time.
I experienced the same issue with both original sprint rom and fresh custom rom. the issue is so anonying. I have installed more than 77 application, is that the reason? who android couldn't hold more than 77 applications? if that is the case, android sucks.
There is a thread that discusses this issue here: http://androidforums.com/sprint-htc-hero/15011-70-app-limit-hero-sprint-2.html
I had this problem the first week that I got my Hero because I wanted to try out a bunch of apps. After I got my count down below 70 the problem seemed to go away. But after I rooted to Fresh ROM 1.0 I've been able to get my app count up to 86 without any problems. Go figure.
I am having the same issue with my Sprint Hero. This is a HUGE bug!
I had the same issue earlier this week. (See thread here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=608239 )
Although still over the limit of 70 apps, a Nandroid restore brought the phone back to working order. I've since uninstalled a number of items that I didn't really need and now I'm below 70.
Fingers crossed that HTC rolls in a fix for this, along with the other annoying bugs ( ::coughWidgetSettingscough:: ) when OS 2.1 is ready. If not before.
i have not run into this issue... because.. I am below 50 apps...
But hope the new 2.1 will solve this...
so that I never see the problem
heres to hoping..
No, you just have to deal with it. I have tried all of them.
We revisit a ton of issues on this site, you should search before starting new threads on basic questions. peace
This is happening with all Hero CDMA devices. The app count is completely dependent on what ROM you have installed. If it is a very lean ROM like the Fresh 1.1 that im using now, I can get to 95 apps and then on 96 and reboot I get no signal and FC's. With Modaco 2.0 I believe it was about 80-85 and with Modaco 1.3a custom it was about 76 apps. So I'm sticking with my Fresh 1.1 till this gets sorted out.
When I called HTC customer support the guy said they were not aware of the problem, however over in another forum that was talking about this another guy emailed them and got a response stating they were aware of the issue but didn't have a fix currently.
HTC... get your act together. Whats the point of having a smart phone and 20,000 apps in the market if I can only have a few on my phone at a time?
Has anyone been able to demonstrate this on the 2.1 ROMs that are out? I have a nandroid backup of a fresh 2.1 eclair ROM that I haven't installed anything on. I'll try loading that one up with apps and see weather or not I can recreate the problem on it.
If anyone is using the 2.1 ROM could you post how many apps you are running on it and if you have experienced this problem while using it?
I was beginning to think I was the only one. This has happened a few times to me, and I have had to Restore my last image and reinstall/update the programs I have installed. I found that APNdroid did it to me almost every time, but I wont swear that it is the one causing the issue. I am just glad I always do a backup. I am on MoDaCo Custom ROM v 1.2C by Obelisk, and I have installed over 60 programs, not including the 40 or so (icons) that came stock on the Hero. Same issue, the radio just dies, and nothing I can do will turn it back on, and everything I try just gives me a crash.
Hi,
I've got an annoying problem with my HD2.
I'm using this rom:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=933951
My phone app crashes when picking up a call or starting a call. Sometimes it's once a day, sometimes once a week.
I already flashed it a couple of times again. Tried a new SD card, etc.
Also my speech-search fuction is sometimes "lagging" or not working at all.
(Mic problem??)
Can anyone help me out please? I'm using the PDF in the topicstart for clean install. Flashed HDSPL, newest Radio, task29, etc.
I have the same problem, too. I also tried CM7, MIUI. All are crashed mostly by picking up a phone call.
How often do you have it?

Have you made any modifications to the phone.apk or contacts.apk?
Nope, I even tried with clean installs.
So I did a clean install, configured my gmail account for my contacts, and tried for a while.
All I can say is try a different ROM. Maybe a bad install or build. Its not a common problem so you shouldn't run into it that often
Maybe I'll try your rom.
edit1 (I tried, but wifi isn't working & data connection isn't working. Wifi keeps saying "turning on")
edit2 Installed http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=905060 now for testing.
just updated my ROM to fix wifi bug
I'm still running this rom without problems:

Call app didn't crash once!
Hm! I do have a similar issue with the last few versions of Typhoon 1)Phone app crashes occasionally when answering a call and
2) Phone app crashes when trying to view certain contacts only.
It looks like this only begins happening when I add my facebook account to 'accounts & sync'.
I have been using dialler one as a workaround - no issues with it as the default dialler instead of the built-in Android dialler.
Hey all,
I've got this odd problem with my Aria running Cyanogen 7.1 with Drowing's kernel.
Consistently throughout the day while moving from place to place where I either have Wifi, strong 3g connections, or both, that I will lose internet connectivity until I reboot which will restore both internet and sync/facebook capabilities. At first I attributed the problem to Juice Defender messing with wifi and 3g disabling so I uninstalled it. After today though, I realize the problem must be something else because the exact same thing happened.
I have yet to try doing a data wipe and re-installing 7.1, but I will if it could fix the problem.
There have been many reported data issues (in the kernel's thread and the nightlies' thread) with the later builds of CM7 using that kernel.
You should be able to simply flash the CM7 ROM on top of your current installation, without wiping anything, which will revert you back to the default kernel. It's not clear why but when the Android version number bumped up to 2.3.7, DC's kernel has caused data problems for some people. You shouldn't need to wipe any data to correct the problem, but you will have to stop using the kernel -- at least until someone figures out why it's happening.
Gratitude for the replies.
I was getting that paranoid Windows itch that something was just not feeling right so I wiped everything and re-installed 7.1. Surprisingly without the kernel I haven't had any issues with the internet problem described above and the phone is actually performing better than ever. I am interested in finding out exactly why that happens, but I can live without it.
Thanks again guys!

The developer is as well.
I'm still having this issue with the stock kernel. Does anyone know which was the last nightly that didn't suffer from this?

I have not had any data issues with any nightly using the stock kernel. You could re-flashing your current one (or later if possible).
I found that any 3rd party apps that control Wifi (Scanners and such) tend to permanently disable/make me unable to connect until I reboot.

I've been running the latest nightlies during this time but I haven't reformatted in probably 2 months.
I went into my router and gave the Aria a reserved DHCP address 4 days ago. Since then the data hasn't dropped out a single time. Maybe dhcp is part of the problem?
Hi there
I Have recently flashed the honeyvillain 3.7 kernel to my A501 running Taboonays ROM 2.2 with great success, i had my tablet running at 1.2GHZ most of the time which was lovely, after about a week though, it would freeze entirely when using any internet connectivity, wifi and mobile data. e.g running the web browser or skype calling would result in a crash after an undefined amount of time 100% everytime. everything else on the tablet works fine, nothing else is unusual at all except this freezing during internet usage. I was wondering if anyone else had run into a similar problem and if they had would they please be able to help me find a solution?
Much appreciated guys! Thankyou!

Sure you don't just have the wifi drop out, that will do the freeze.
Easy solution would be to reformat and reload your rom. Pain in the a, I know lol. But unless you find another solution it'll be what youll have to end up doing. You could actually just try reformatting your data, not system, and that may or may not fix it. You could also try flashing another kernel.
Just throwing out ideas BTW .
Reflashing the rom and/or kernel, will have no effect. The problem will still remain.
I've been chasing this issue for some time, and as near as I can tell, the internal 3g is very sensitive to "cooked" kernels. More than likely due to voltage modifications to the board and also processor. The modifications are done to increase battery life for overclocking. It's a very fine line.
Unfortunately, it doesn't effect "all" 501's, and this may be in part due to certain revisions on the internal hardware during manufacturing. Sort of hit and miss.
However, after flashing every 501 rom and kernel combination, I have settled on this solution.
For Rom, Harkon. It's the least cooked I believe.
For kernel, you can use what comes with Harkon, or Thors 3.9r3 kernel.
But, the catch, is that you have to leave your wifi on when out and about town. Don't ask why, but after I left the setting ON, the problem went away for almost 4 weeks now. You still get 3g when a wifi connection is not available, and a small loss in battery power, but at least you shouldn't get the screen freeze, or the "sleep of death" (won't wake up and have to do a hard boot).
Hope it works for you.
Sounds like you need to reflash, i was having the same issue when watching youtube on Thors rom, I relashed and it worked just fine.
I have done countless searches and tried everything I possibly could to find a solution to my problem and nothing has worked.
When running any 4.4 rom, and I have tried pretty much all of them, I have this wifi issue. The problem is that if I have wifi turned on the phone starts randomly rebooting approximately every 15-20 minutes when the screen is off. I have tried every setting, upgraded and reset my router(dd-wrt) with different settings and a static ip, and tried different apps that are supposed to help with wifi issues.
This does not happen on stock roms and I have zero issues with any other devices on my network. The very limited amount of info any where that I have found with a similar problem all lead to dead ends. This happens regardless of being a fresh install with no apps installed besides gapps. I really just can not think of anything else to try. Please help me with my G2, I really want to like this phone. :crying:
From the complete lack of info I am able to find on this it would seem to be quite a rare problem. But if anyone has any suggestions for me I would really appreciate it.
No suggestions at all?
Mine is doing this too, however not as frequently. Are you using a proxy app? And do you have auto-wifi disconnect on?
It has nothing to do with the router. I'm 99.9% sure it's either a rogue app or a bad install.

No I'm not using any proxy apps or disconnect. It's not an app or bad install as far as I know. Like I have said this has happened with every install of any 4.4 rom that I have tried. Including, PA, CM and Mahdi. When installing any rom I always do a full wipe, cache, data, dalvik and system. Even without out installing anything besides gapps it happens. So I think I can rule out a rogue app or a bad install.
I have reinstalled countless times and it always pops up. On occasion there has been instances where the problem does not start for several hours after a fresh install but invariably the issue does come up and the reboots start again every 15-20 minutes when the screen is off.
I mentioned the router because, although rare, they can cause issues with connecting devices. Most of the problems that I have read about is usually the other way around though. The router crashing with certain devices connecting to them. But I have had zero issues with my router and any other devices but still thinking it could be possible.
I have a 4.2 rom(Energy) installed currently with no issues whatsoever. It is only KItKat that seems to be a problem. I just have no idea what it could be.
What model is your g2 and kernel? The only thing I can think of is you are changing sleep tweaks on the kernel and causing it to sod when in deep sleep. Are you undervolting?

It's the d801. Every kernel on every rom. I have tried using kernels as is or using Trickster to undervolt, overvolt, you name it, I've tried it.

Make a backup and wipe everything, and boot up into a totally clean rom WITHOUT installing Gapps for it. Then see if it keeps happening. I'm searching around and not really finding anything on this issue. Mine hasn't been doing it since I flashed the new AOSB build

Well I took your advice. I wiped everything and did a fresh install, latest PA without gapps. The only thing that I have done is connected it to my wifi. I let it go for about 3 hours and had no reboots. So I installed Banks Core gapps. Again, I let it sit for 3 hours. No reboots. All the while it has been plugged in and charging. As I write this, I just unplugged it from the charger and within 2 minutes had my first reboot. We'll see if they continue.
So now, I wiped and reinstalled PA without gapps. I did not install anything else at all. Turned on wifi and started getting at least 2 reboots per hour without even using the phone at all. When I turned off the wifi it has been running for 10 hours now without any reboots at all. I am at a complete loss as to what could be the problem. Is there anything I can do?

I hate to say it, but I'm at a loss too. Best course of action I can see is for you to return to stock, email LG, and ask for a replacement for a defective device.
