Hi there
I Have recently flashed the honeyvillain 3.7 kernel to my A501 running Taboonays ROM 2.2 with great success, i had my tablet running at 1.2GHZ most of the time which was lovely, after about a week though, it would freeze entirely when using any internet connectivity, wifi and mobile data. e.g running the web browser or skype calling would result in a crash after an undefined amount of time 100% everytime. everything else on the tablet works fine, nothing else is unusual at all except this freezing during internet usage. I was wondering if anyone else had run into a similar problem and if they had would they please be able to help me find a solution?
Much appreciated guys! Thankyou!

Sure you don't just have the wifi drop out, that will do the freeze.
Easy solution would be to reformat and reload your rom. Pain in the a, I know lol. But unless you find another solution it'll be what youll have to end up doing. You could actually just try reformatting your data, not system, and that may or may not fix it. You could also try flashing another kernel.
Just throwing out ideas BTW .
Reflashing the rom and/or kernel, will have no effect. The problem will still remain.
I've been chasing this issue for some time, and as near as I can tell, the internal 3g is very sensitive to "cooked" kernels. More than likely due to voltage modifications to the board and also processor. The modifications are done to increase battery life for overclocking. It's a very fine line.
Unfortunately, it doesn't effect "all" 501's, and this may be in part due to certain revisions on the internal hardware during manufacturing. Sort of hit and miss.
However, after flashing every 501 rom and kernel combination, I have settled on this solution.
For Rom, Harkon. It's the least cooked I believe.
For kernel, you can use what comes with Harkon, or Thors 3.9r3 kernel.
But, the catch, is that you have to leave your wifi on when out and about town. Don't ask why, but after I left the setting ON, the problem went away for almost 4 weeks now. You still get 3g when a wifi connection is not available, and a small loss in battery power, but at least you shouldn't get the screen freeze, or the "sleep of death" (won't wake up and have to do a hard boot).
Hope it works for you.
Sounds like you need to reflash, i was having the same issue when watching youtube on Thors rom, I relashed and it worked just fine.

Hi guys.
Thanks for the great work you guys achieved!
I have been enjoying my HD2 much more these days.
I have been testing and flashing the nand roms on this forum and it seems all the desire roms are giving me a random reboot on my phone.
Not constant but at least twice a day.
I've uninstalled(or not installed any) apps or killer tasks.
The most stable nand rom I used without crashing much was the nexus rom.
Has the bug from Desire creeped into the nand rom based on Desire?
I've searched the forum and it says it could be corrupt data on the SD card
but I've cleared and formatted the SD card many times.
Any ideas what is causing the crash?
One key point is that my phone is in a flat where the signal is not very good so it is constantly looking for signal from the provider.
Apart from that I have all the HARDSPL 2.08, MAGLDR 1.11 installed and never had a issue flashing the roms.
Any advice or solution would be grateful! Thanks~
are you using an overclocked kernal? cause sometimes it happens when you are using it at full speed and starts rebooting itself, imho...
+1 on the Kernel theory here... Not all silicone is created equal, some phones can take the OC, some can not. Try and throttle it down with SetCPU.
Are you freezing up before the reboots??

I have the same problems.
I dunno
Now how would I check if I am using the overclocked kernal on my phone?

Not just overclocked kernels, undervolted kernels also don't work well for some people.
OP: which build are you currently using?
Install SetCPU and dial it down a little. If you don't know chances are you are not OC'ed, but that doesn't mean your CPU isn't taking some pain. Bring it down to say.... 800 and see if it holds on. Worth a shot.

Okie thanks for the quick reply
Currently I am running DFT stock Desire rom.
I think I flashed the phone with every nand rom on this forum....lol
The phone will just reboot when left alone.
So I don't know if it is crashing or freezing.
Sometimes it reboots while charging and sometimes just on standby doing nothing.
Doesn't seem to be getting warm but maybe I can't really feel it as it is bloody cold in my room.
I will try the SetCPU option and see what happens.
It may as well be something that simply occurs randomly. I flashed jdms nand 2 days ago & it worked great, yesterday tho I had to reflash wm coz I needed to reinstall copilot & deactivate it so I could get it on android. Once I went back to jdms nand, I started getting random reboots. So I went ahead & reflashed a 3rd time & its been stable once again.

i dont have this problem, i testing my rom on 3 days without sim-card. And it work well.
Thanks for the help guys!
Dialed down to 806 MHz.
I will report tomorrow if it reboots or not.
I get really jumpy when my phone suddenly vibrates on me...lol
i had it 2day for the first time, dont know why . im using the standerd rom from cotulla. i had it on the table while i was on my laptop n suddenly
it reboot itself
Yeah its scary coz you never expect it.
Imagine you are on your own watching the Ring or something and the phone jumps up!-_-;;
also keep in mind that your mainboard in the hd2 could be the problem. Had those reboot issues in winmo 6.5 (sometimes when doing nothing but mostly when watching youtube/cpu intensive service).
So i sent my phone to a repair center, they replaced the mainboard and since my phone doesn't reboot > sod whatever again and believe me there are an load of faulty mainboard around sadly
Second that, this girl had the same problem and she just got a warranty phone (new)

I had no problem what so ever when using windows rom, and I used whole bunch of them.
Had freezing from time to time but never reboot issue.
I've searched and there is a whole forum and issue on the HTC Desire rebooting constantly....
The phone rebooted itself just now even with the 800mhz drop.
I am going reflash to stock wm rom and then back to the most stable Nexus Android rom and see what happens from there.
Those of you who haven't had this problem yet let me inform you that this problem doesn't start right away after you flash the rom, maybe couple of days or a week after it started.
Let's try and get it sorted out~!
same problems here, using mdj gingerbread 1.3
but its always freeze while running heavy cpu load apps like games, earth, youtube etc
tried donwclock to around 800 mhz but dont solved =/
Same problem here , randomly reboot.
I m using JDMS 1.62 , only happen on android , WM rom is working fine without reboot.
Well it seems I am not the only one having this problem here.
Anybody running Nexus rom and still having random reboot issues?
Or anyone running Android on SD card without and random reboots?
Could it be the the data on the phone is rewriting the wrong information and causing it some process to fail and to reboot?
It doesn't seem to be the hardware fault(then it would happen alot more often as hardware fail will be permanent and problem would show more frequently) although I have read on the Desire forum people have been sending their phone back for motherboard replacement with mixed results.
Currently reflashing again!
Hey all,
I've got this odd problem with my Aria running Cyanogen 7.1 with Drowing's kernel.
Consistently throughout the day while moving from place to place where I either have Wifi, strong 3g connections, or both, that I will lose internet connectivity until I reboot which will restore both internet and sync/facebook capabilities. At first I attributed the problem to Juice Defender messing with wifi and 3g disabling so I uninstalled it. After today though, I realize the problem must be something else because the exact same thing happened.
I have yet to try doing a data wipe and re-installing 7.1, but I will if it could fix the problem.
There have been many reported data issues (in the kernel's thread and the nightlies' thread) with the later builds of CM7 using that kernel.
You should be able to simply flash the CM7 ROM on top of your current installation, without wiping anything, which will revert you back to the default kernel. It's not clear why but when the Android version number bumped up to 2.3.7, DC's kernel has caused data problems for some people. You shouldn't need to wipe any data to correct the problem, but you will have to stop using the kernel -- at least until someone figures out why it's happening.
Gratitude for the replies.
I was getting that paranoid Windows itch that something was just not feeling right so I wiped everything and re-installed 7.1. Surprisingly without the kernel I haven't had any issues with the internet problem described above and the phone is actually performing better than ever. I am interested in finding out exactly why that happens, but I can live without it.
Thanks again guys!

The developer is as well.
I'm still having this issue with the stock kernel. Does anyone know which was the last nightly that didn't suffer from this?

I have not had any data issues with any nightly using the stock kernel. You could re-flashing your current one (or later if possible).
I found that any 3rd party apps that control Wifi (Scanners and such) tend to permanently disable/make me unable to connect until I reboot.

I've been running the latest nightlies during this time but I haven't reformatted in probably 2 months.
I went into my router and gave the Aria a reserved DHCP address 4 days ago. Since then the data hasn't dropped out a single time. Maybe dhcp is part of the problem?
Never posted in these forums before, since I've never suffered any problems with my HD2 until now. So I will post it my way.
Background info:
I have been using tytung's Android ROMS since he was developing Froyo, starting with MAGLDR. Since then I've been constantly upgrading to his next releases. When cLK eventually got stable (around the latest stable GB releases I think), I switched over to that bootloader. Not having any problems. When ICS finally got it's HWA fully working I switched over to this. I had never encountered any problems with my phone ever, which I am greatly thankful for... That was until now.
My problem:
Approx a week after installing tytung's NexusHD2 ICS v2.7, I started having problems with the phone's data connection in general. When I turn on the phone, it MAY get signal to my data carrier. Sometimes I do, other times I don't. I can try to put the phone in "Plane mode", and back to normal. But that has the same effect as when i turn off/on the phone. Other times when the signal bar shows that I either have full or 50% signal (two dots), I am not able to call, send sms nor browse the internet at all. WTF!? I have tried disabling the WiFi but this has no effect. When I search for data providers(carriers?), I may find all of them after two minutes of searching, I'll find none OR it will search for ever and never come to any conclusion.
Searching:
I have searched through nearly the whole developement thread, and also searched through this Q&A thread, but I can't find anyone who suffers the exact same problems as me. There are some threads and problems similar to mine, but none of their "fixes" has killed the problem for me.
What I have tried:
- Tried the WiFixerFree-solution
- Tried different (older) kernels
- Tried flashing older tytung releases (2.3, 2.4, 2.5, 2.6)
- Did a fresh install
- Extending the system partition (in case of bad blocks)
no success
I don't think this has anything to do with tytung's newest release. It's just weird that this recently started happening, especially after working so good for so long. Does anyone have any clue on what I can do now?
Disassemble your phone and make sure the antenna tabs are touching the contacts,I did this and sure enough one was not touching. After reassembling, full signal was restored.

Omg found the stupidest solution to this irritating one week-long problem.
I tried to extend the system partition even further. Weird that this solution rarely have come up as an option in the forums.
Hope this is helpful to anyone else who may suffer the data drop-problem.
EDIT: Nope... Just a temporarily solution. I can't understand why this should have something to do with the hardware, when I haven't done anything that could harm the phone in any way. But I'll do it asap, and report back. Thank you for the tip.
The 3g connection not working and I can't even use the gprs and I can't enter APNs to let the phone access the internet please please please help me
Now I can use the internet only through the Wi-Fi connection!!!!

Any good news? I have this problem also, after flashing 2.7. I have restored my HD2 back to my previous backup, but still suffering this problem.
The 3G/H signal jumps between 0 ~ 4 bars, but most of the cases it has 0 bar, then switches to edge. If the internet get disconnected, it cannot reconnect automatically. have to turn off data and back on to connect to the internet.
I flash the latest radio, no help. reflash the sd card, no help. reformat the phone, no help.
The last thing i want to try is to part my phone and reconnect the data antenna

Reporting back. Just installed int2ext+, and can report back that after only 3 minutes of use that my data dropped... again. I were not able to call, and neither send sms or anything.
I will get the needed tools to disassemble my phone and TRY to fix the connections. When this is done I will report back again.
Thanks for all tips I have gotten so far! I love this community!
Fffffffffffffffff
NAH! Just disassembled my phone and straightened up the pin that was the problem for this guy
After 2 minutes of uptime, the signal dropped to two bars, then after ten more seconds it dropped to zero... Now it is back to "normal", doing random bumps from 0, to two to four bars. Soooo... f*uck
The pins were my problem, I only have data dropout when going into the market or sending/receiving MMS's now.
i have similar problem too.after using wifi tethering. 3g IS not working anymore till reboot. sometimes 3g automatically change to 2g and vice versa
Any solution?
I have done countless searches and tried everything I possibly could to find a solution to my problem and nothing has worked.
When running any 4.4 rom, and I have tried pretty much all of them, I have this wifi issue. The problem is that if I have wifi turned on the phone starts randomly rebooting approximately every 15-20 minutes when the screen is off. I have tried every setting, upgraded and reset my router(dd-wrt) with different settings and a static ip, and tried different apps that are supposed to help with wifi issues.
This does not happen on stock roms and I have zero issues with any other devices on my network. The very limited amount of info any where that I have found with a similar problem all lead to dead ends. This happens regardless of being a fresh install with no apps installed besides gapps. I really just can not think of anything else to try. Please help me with my G2, I really want to like this phone. :crying:
From the complete lack of info I am able to find on this it would seem to be quite a rare problem. But if anyone has any suggestions for me I would really appreciate it.
No suggestions at all?
Mine is doing this too, however not as frequently. Are you using a proxy app? And do you have auto-wifi disconnect on?
It has nothing to do with the router. I'm 99.9% sure it's either a rogue app or a bad install.

No I'm not using any proxy apps or disconnect. It's not an app or bad install as far as I know. Like I have said this has happened with every install of any 4.4 rom that I have tried. Including, PA, CM and Mahdi. When installing any rom I always do a full wipe, cache, data, dalvik and system. Even without out installing anything besides gapps it happens. So I think I can rule out a rogue app or a bad install.
I have reinstalled countless times and it always pops up. On occasion there has been instances where the problem does not start for several hours after a fresh install but invariably the issue does come up and the reboots start again every 15-20 minutes when the screen is off.
I mentioned the router because, although rare, they can cause issues with connecting devices. Most of the problems that I have read about is usually the other way around though. The router crashing with certain devices connecting to them. But I have had zero issues with my router and any other devices but still thinking it could be possible.
I have a 4.2 rom(Energy) installed currently with no issues whatsoever. It is only KItKat that seems to be a problem. I just have no idea what it could be.
What model is your g2 and kernel? The only thing I can think of is you are changing sleep tweaks on the kernel and causing it to sod when in deep sleep. Are you undervolting?

Make a backup and wipe everything, and boot up into a totally clean rom WITHOUT installing Gapps for it. Then see if it keeps happening. I'm searching around and not really finding anything on this issue. Mine hasn't been doing it since I flashed the new AOSB build

Well I took your advice. I wiped everything and did a fresh install, latest PA without gapps. The only thing that I have done is connected it to my wifi. I let it go for about 3 hours and had no reboots. So I installed Banks Core gapps. Again, I let it sit for 3 hours. No reboots. All the while it has been plugged in and charging. As I write this, I just unplugged it from the charger and within 2 minutes had my first reboot. We'll see if they continue.
So now, I wiped and reinstalled PA without gapps. I did not install anything else at all. Turned on wifi and started getting at least 2 reboots per hour without even using the phone at all. When I turned off the wifi it has been running for 10 hours now without any reboots at all. I am at a complete loss as to what could be the problem. Is there anything I can do?

I hate to say it, but I'm at a loss too. Best course of action I can see is for you to return to stock, email LG, and ask for a replacement for a defective device.
I've been noticing this problem increase over the past few months. It started when I used navigation over longer trips like an hour. The phone would all of a sudden stop responding and then just restart. I noticed its really hot when this happens so I figure it's overheating. Recently it even happens on short trips.
I'm using triforce rom 3.1 which uses agat's kernel. I have not noticed any other restart or crashing issues aside from when I use navigation. I find it important to mention that this all occurs even if the phone is not plugged in or charging.
Has anyone else noticed something like this?
I thought about taking it to sprint since i have tep, but I figure they will either just tell me it's my fault since it's a custom rom or just offer to format the phone like they do with every other problem.
Any ideas are appreciated.

Thanks for the tip. I'll have to find one that still works with my older version of the rom. If nothing else, I may just wait until I have a little more time and use a new or different rom all together and see if that makes a difference.

I just wanted to follow up and see if anyone had more suggestions or a specific kernel to try. I tried 3 different ones with the following results:
KT-SGS4-JB4.2-TW-SPR-02.20.2014 - No navigation reboots, started rebooting randomly otherwise
AGAT_GS4_v0.5.1 - Still reboots/overheats during navigation
AGAT_GS4_v0.5.2 - Still reboots/overheats during navigation
Stock. I've never had good luck on custom kernels going back to the S2 (the same devs as currently).
Really, my devices have always ran worse and with significant issues, including the one you are describing.
If that's not an option, play with the governor settings, remove any overclock, and try other ROMs.
