I was eager to download the new update and i realized i can't get access to wifi currently. So now i have an on-going notification (Download will start when connected to wifi).
I just downloaded the 1.83 update from the motorola support site and moved it to my sdcard, and the instructions tell me to hit system updates to install it. But when hit system updates, it just tells me that the download will begin when i connect to wifi.
How do i cancel that download (because i already have it) and install the update from my sdcard?

This is pretty funny.
My Verizon Fascinate started getting the 2.3 update last night. I noticed that while the update is downloading, it has mounted a filesystem on /data/fota.
In that filesystem is ipth_package.bin.dd
In that (text) file there is a link to download the OTA firmware update directly from innopath:
(The link is messed up because I haven't posted enough to post outside links)
https : // dl11 . innopath . com:443/prod/v1/fota/6888273.dat
That dat file is a zip archive, with a standard android patch update.
This is probably only of technical interest to a few.
Anyway, seems like the update will install on a rooted device as long as you have all the stock apps installed. I found them from here:
http: // forums . androidcentral . com / verizon-fascinate-rooting-roms-hacks/105468-rom-odin-ed05-stock-rom-radio-kernel-not-rooted-leak.html (untar, and mount the factoryfs.rfs on your computer to pull out the files you need).
The automatic update didn't seem to work, so I copied 6888273.dat to the sdcard as update.zip, then did adb reboot recovery to put the phone in recovery mode, and selected "apply update.zip" from the stock recovery. No idea if it would work with clockwork installed.
Seems like a lot of screwing around when can just odin the stock eh03 gb package.
Do you have a copy of the zip you would share thanks
got it to download thanks
DUDE.
I have no Verizon service and my USB port's busted, so ODIN won't work.
All my thanks are belong to you.
BRO.
Fix your USB port.
Just a quick heads up for the community:
If you are stuck on build HLK75D and unable to update, here is how to get some ICS goodness:
1. Download the tiamat recovery:
Won't let me post outside links just look in the development thread
And download the two update files (HLK75F and HLK75H):
Won't let me post outside links just google "hlk75f sbf" - third result on the list
2. Rename the HLK75F file to update.zip and place it in your microSDCard
3. Reboot into fastboot
4. Unlock bootloader
5. Reboot into fastboot
6. Flash recovery
7. Reboot into recovery (check recovery link for help)
8. choose "apply update from sdcard" - (update will NOT go to completion - don't worry once the progress bar stalls at about 3/4 just reboot)
9. repeat steps 2-8 for HLK75H
10. once rebooted check for update in Settings
11. install update
12. Enjoy ICS
Why unlock? You can use the stock recovery with a OTG and flash drive. Not sure if it works on D but it is worth a shot before unlocking and wiping. Also this update is not out to the general public yet. It is a soak test telling people to check for updates will get them nowhere if they are not a MFN member that registered for the update.
Do I really have to unlock the bootloader just to flash to an OTA update? I am stuck on HLK75F, and Motorola doesn't care at all. I really want to stay stock, but I hate not being able to get ICS.

I did this earlier today and was able to update my wife's Xoom from HLK75D. I did NOT have to unlock or root. I just used a flash drive and OTG and flashed the three zip files in sequence.
here's the Motorola website that will show you how they want you to do it...

I've tried updating my Nexus 4 rooted device via "Nexus Update Checker" app, and when it finished downloading and i pressed "install" the device rebooted and entered CWM, asking me if i want to install. I've pressed "yes", and it gave an error saying there is some "Unexpected Content" in the package. I've searched for it, and found this:
File /system/lib/hw/audio.a2dp.default.so in your device not official. It modify by some app require root permission. Or you install some mod.
In normal method (OTA) or manual install update (sideload). You will found error same this error. Because all method use recovery mode for install update package.
You can fix problem by
1. Flash official ROM.
Or find official file from other device and replace in your device.
2. Update again

So, i was wondering - where could i find a download for those original lib files for my device?
My device's android version is currently 4.4.2, updated via OTA before it was rooted.
Thanks for any further help.
So i've rooted and suchlike my OPT , and when 2.1.2 came out i said yes to the OTA prompt to download it. Although i didnt go ahead and actually install it (because I had rooted, I upgraded via a different method).
problem is, i'm still being prompted every now and again that i have downloaded and do i want to install it.
the question is, is there any way of deleting this download (if so, where is it located) so that it doesnt prompt me to install it? or if its not a case of just deleting it, is there a way of getting rid of the prompt via other means?
thanks
how to update

Had the same. Solution that worked for me: search in the internal storage for a folder called ".OnePlusOTA". You have to use a file explorer which can display hidden folders on Android. ( Total Commander worked for me ). Inside this folder there is the .zip file of the OTA. Delete it and go to the System Update Page and check for updates. Should say that the system is updatet allready and the notification should stop to appear.

Instructions for latest TWRP
1. Download latest full ZIP -> 2.1.1
2. Download Incremental OTA ZIP
3. Dirty flash full ZIP -> Incremental OTA ZIP -> supersu ZIP
4. Wipe Cache + Dalvik
5. Reboot
This steps worked for me. I'm not taking any responsibility for these instructions. So try it at your own risk.
Hope i could help.

yup, thats basically what i did too.
thanks for the advice, i'll check that folder out and remove the zip.
The actual file on the website is corrupted. If someone has working zip file, please upload it. I can not get system update till 309, hence I need to manually download and put it in the root directory. Please note that my device is not rooted. Hence need OTA update file.
Just directly download the latest zip file (.309 or .311) from Asus website and put it in your root directly. It will update peoperly

Tried with .309. after 20%, phone rebooted and said update failed. .311 is not available in the website.

That's odd. I updated from .252 to .309 directly cuz as you said the file on the website is corrupted.
Anyways, try to wipe the cache partition (Hold power and volume down in power off state and release power when phone vibrates while holding power down. Your phone will boot into fastboot mode. From there select wipe cache partition). After wiping cache try .309 update again by putting the zip file in the root directory and then updating via the notifications.
Will I lose data?

Thanks. I found out the reason. Google play protect was turned off and luckypatcher was installed. I uninstalled luckypatcher and turned on Google play protect. Then applied the update 311, and it worked. Thanks. Both of you had been of immense help.
