This is pretty funny.
My Verizon Fascinate started getting the 2.3 update last night. I noticed that while the update is downloading, it has mounted a filesystem on /data/fota.
In that filesystem is ipth_package.bin.dd
In that (text) file there is a link to download the OTA firmware update directly from innopath:
(The link is messed up because I haven't posted enough to post outside links)
https : // dl11 . innopath . com:443/prod/v1/fota/6888273.dat
That dat file is a zip archive, with a standard android patch update.
This is probably only of technical interest to a few.
Anyway, seems like the update will install on a rooted device as long as you have all the stock apps installed. I found them from here:
http: // forums . androidcentral . com / verizon-fascinate-rooting-roms-hacks/105468-rom-odin-ed05-stock-rom-radio-kernel-not-rooted-leak.html (untar, and mount the factoryfs.rfs on your computer to pull out the files you need).
The automatic update didn't seem to work, so I copied 6888273.dat to the sdcard as update.zip, then did adb reboot recovery to put the phone in recovery mode, and selected "apply update.zip" from the stock recovery. No idea if it would work with clockwork installed.
Seems like a lot of screwing around when can just odin the stock eh03 gb package.
Do you have a copy of the zip you would share thanks
got it to download thanks
DUDE.
I have no Verizon service and my USB port's busted, so ODIN won't work.
All my thanks are belong to you.
BRO.
Fix your USB port.

I have tried everything in my toolkit to get the Dexter Mod installed on my A7...the new firmware update worked fine, but when i follow the steps for the Dexter mod..in recovery mode, i get a message that says:
Install from sdcard
Finding update package
Opening update package
E:Can't open /sdcard/update.zip
(no such file or directory)
Installation aborted
Formatting MISC...
I even downloaded the Dexter Mod from my computer at work yesterday and brought it home to try to no avail...
Why isn't this working?
Is there another place I can download the Dexter Mod 11 from to get a different file..
How can I be sure I am in the root directory of the sdcard?
I realize i am brand new at this, and i am willing to do the work, but really I am disappointed the the mod will not install..
also, I noticed that when I ran the firmware update, a few programs that I had downloaded were erased...how do i back program up on the A7 so they are not lost
Another question
Is in necessary to install the previos Dexter mods before the 11?
No, you don't need to download the previous ROMs first.
Your download may be corrupted. That happens a lot with large files.
This one is over 90MB.
Getright is a free download manager that helps with this issue.
Get it here:
http://www.getright.com/
Try that and let us know if it works for you.
I installed update.zip from the root directory of sd card (nothing on sd card except Update.zip), from within settings> about> update firmware.
It will go through the steps and boot loop.
U then hold off for 15 secs, then turn on for 3secs, let go and hold till it says > loading boot kernel ( recovery mode), then wipe cache and settings.
Done!!
Whew.
when renaming the file leave out the zip part. i was having the same problem . if you noticed the elocity update doesnot name the update w/ zip at the end
thank you
I know that Acer pulled today's update, but will it be possible to switch when it is released again?
Leaked 3.1 to official 3.1
Yes it is, just a little confusing though. You have to know which region your tablet is from http://secure3.tx.acer.com/FindSystem/FindSystem.aspx?title=Information About Your System. And then go about flashing a couple of ROMs to get you ready for the update. Instructions here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1155664
I am a total noob and wasted my whole day yesterday trying to figure this out. In the end texonex helped me out. Starting with the leaked 3.1 update here's what I did (courtesy texonex):
1. Root the device (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1138228). Download Acer Recovery Installer from the market, and from there install the clockwork recovery image. Choose no for a backup of the current recovery.
2. Download the backup file for 1.104.02 here, thanks to camelot1972
dl.dropbox.com/u/34113636/2011-06-24.12.20.13.zip, I guess you could also use the file from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1113878. This is for the US version.
If your tablet is from another region you would have to find the appropriate "default" version number in the how-to (what firmware is right for my country).
3. Extract the contents from the zip file and put them in the backup folder for clockwork mod on your SD card (take your SD card out of the tablet and connect directly for all the steps), if you do not see the backup folder, I suppose you can make one,e.g. [micro sd]\clockworkmod\backup\2011-06-25.22.14.07. I guess this exact string will still show up in clockwork recovery. I made a backup of the leaked 3.1 and that gave me the folder, and I just replaced the files. The date part is obvious in the name however I wouldn't venture a guess what are the other digits in the folder name.
If you downloaded the file from [OTA] Full Package and Update page, you'll need first to decrypt the file using the decrypter and then extract the contents of the decrypted file. One of the extracted files is update.zip which goes on to the SD card no subfolder in this case.
4. Restore the firmware using CMW using full restore for the US version, or update from the sd card zip if using a full package zip file.
At this point I think you need to save the recovery image for the non-US versions. Follow the instructions in the how-to or just use acer recovery installer to flash the clockword recovery again and this time choose yes to backup the current image.
5. Download 1.104.02 to 1.141.07 update and flash it with CMW.
Or the appropriate latest update file from your region(highest version number).
6. Flash recovery image to 1.141.07, this is option 4 in Acer recovery installer.
For non-us versions restore the recovery image, unroot and restore factory defaults.
7. I stopped here and now am waiting for the OTA. According to the how-to, you roll back to the full defualt package by using the standard ACER recovery (Power + -Vol) after copying the zip file on to the SD card, delete the zip file copied before.
8. Go to settings and trigger update manually. OTA will prompt you the new 3.1 update. I suppose you do not need to unroot.
You can also install the stock ROM from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1159443
Thanks to Bec07 (how-to), vache (stock roms) and sc2k (un-rooting) for their contributions or I would have been totally lost in trying to downgrade my tablet from the leaked 3.1. Hope this is helpful, and goes smoothly because if it does not I wouldn't have clue how to fix it.
Sorry for this off-topic post, but you said that acer pulled the update: And I still have it (haven't updated and cant anyway). Is this not right?
What I meant was its not being pushed to more users for now.
Hi,
I'm looking for a stock ROM for the GT-i9020A as I want to switch back to the default Gingerbread that my phone came with (2.3.3, or I would also be happy with 2.3.4)
What I have done:
Unlocked bootloader
Installed ClockworkMOD
Installed Cyanogen 7
The problem is that I don't have a copy of the stock Gingerbread that I can flash on my phone. I've scoured high and low on the net, the XDA forums, XDA wiki and other forums, and I can't find it anywhere
I would prefer to keep ClockworkMOD on the recovery, but my main concern is getting back to stock Gingerbread, so I'm OK with it being removed. I can always just boot into it with 'fastboot' if I need to.
Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks
Well, I eventually found a roundabout solution that got me back to 2.3.4, and even let me keep ClockworkMOD. Hopefully this helps someone.
BE AWARE - this has only been tested on my GT-I9020A
I followed this video until just after they do the restoration (before they remove ClockworkMOD) to get my phone to GRH78 (2.3.1?). When I rebooted, my radio didn't work and I couldn't connect to my carrier. I then downloaded this file (which updates to 2.3.3), and ran it in ClockworkMOD by doing the following:
put the zip file onto the sdcard partition
booted into ClockworkMOD
selected "install zip from sdcard"
selected "choose zip from sdcard"
[selected the zip file]
Shortly after I booted into 2.3.3, I received a notification from Google to update to 2.3.4, which I did. After the update to 2.3.4, I restarted and everything was fine =)

Hi, My UK tablet is stuck on a testing update that was on the FTP and now I cannot update my tablet. My Tablet is stuck on ThinkPadTablet_A310_02_0039_0080_UK_testing but the ThinkPadTablet_A310_02_0039_0086_UK patch only works from 02_0037_0075_UK
My only hope is that I can load on a CWR backup of someones stock tablet from any version. Then I could proceed with standard updates.
Any one who rooted their tablet and had a Nandroid / Clockwork Recovery from a UK tablet and could get that to me would be amazing.
Thanks Steven Richardson
I'm copying my backup now from my sdcard. Will zip it and upload for you in a couple of hours. Its a stock 86 UK backup. Hope that's what you need.
Thats amazing thank you so very much! Cannot wait!
Sorry for the delay. Couldn't find a decent place to upload the file. Haven't used Google drive before but had to upload there as even my dropbox couldn't take it. The file is in a self-extracting archive, just run it and copy the folder "stock.ota2.clean" to your clockworkmod/backup/ folder in your external SD card.
https://docs.google.com/open?id=0B9_U8cZCMA1NS0FHRXRHUTFfWjg
Edit: The file is 401mb.
Edit 2: Finally managed to get it on dropbox. Link: https://www.dropbox.com/s/ohbf1odrvsfzamb/Stock.ota2.Clean.exe
If you don't trust the .exe archive, scan for viruses before running it.
Thanks ever so much. It works great. Have given you Thanks on the forum as well.
I installed your backup. Now i'm not able to update anymore. (Like before )
Does anyone know why?
I just uploaded a clean backup, I dont know if you can update or not. Lenovo always find a way to mess up updates so I haven't tried to update, waiting for positive news from others.
I used it an now am sitting pretty on Ice Cream Sandwich!
Had to install 87 and 89 first
I then rooted it and put in CWR and then updated to ICS and kept root!
Once again thanks
Unfortunately it is not an update to ICS is possible.
Error message every time "failed to verify whole-file signature"
It is probably better to wait for a finished backup of ICS.
I think you must CWM Uninstall before an update is possible.
You can install all of the updates. To get 87 on you have to modify the update-script file inside the update and remove the Indigo assert lines. Then use CWR to install the update.
When i installed 87 it over wrote CWR with the stock android revocery so you could continue on from there with stock recovery.
I used stock recovery to install 89 then I re-rooted and put CWR back on so I could fix the busybox error that comes with the ICS update.
I got mine fully working with root and CWR (although havent check CWR since ICS come to think about it)
Steven
EDIT: just checked ICS update puts stock recovery on.
Just got ICS working with this backup
Sent from my ThinkPad Tablet using XDA

Can you post a short tutorial, how did you proceed?
Did you have Root on ICS?
I lost root during the update. Even the OTA Root keeper wasn't able to restore it.
But then I have to try rooting it myself.
Short instruction to get ICS with this backup:
1. Restore the backup with cwr
2. Modify the updater-script in the 0087_UK update
2.1 open updater-script (/META-INF/com/ google/android/updater-script)
2.2 delete the lines 4 and 5
3. install the 0087_UK update using cwr (install zip from SD)
(This is going to overwrite the cwr)
4. Use the normal ota updates (in the settings)
5. Finished
Thats it.
My TPT has now ICS.
Thanks for help.
I'm happy for you guys that have updated to ICS but some people (me for example) still have reservations about updating to ICS. I'd be grateful if you guys could post some feedback about ICS on this thread:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=26792555#post26792555

I can boot into Samsung recovery and can boot into Download mode. I have tried factory resetting the tablet. I have tried reflashing the stock image with Odin 3.09 in Download but everything I try just fails. It comes up with a message in stock Samsung Recovery that says:

Could someone please help me figure out what I need to do. I am familiar with Odin for the most part. I would be FOREVER GRATEFUL! Thank you! :victory:

mine also has the same problem, another problem is my OEM is locked. So I cannot install twrp.
Hello there, I`ve bought a vietnamese Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8.0 2019.
Can I flash the european Rom on it?
Is there maybe twrp to flash and perhaps Custom Rom's?
I wanna use it as a german model.
I am not an informed authority whatsoever but I did have quite a few close calls with my same device and I repeatedly managed to get it going. That must hurt to hear without a clear step by step specific with links instructions I know but let me not mislead you either. What good is that?! Well I can refer you to some of the resources I had luck with , it’s been a few years since too so I will go look and see if I have anything concrete , off the top of my head I want to say thanks to magisk the bootloader never did get unlocked , and I only ran the boot.img thru the app and then had my tarp ready to flash right after, be persistent I must have mangled and recovered over two dozen times here and there and again ambiguous encouragement empty as it is I can say from my experience that more than a few things that worked ended up being very simple but minor factors such as unchecking the auto reboot and flashing the twrp right after , another saving grace came in the form of a few die hard twrp flushable zips that enabled simple functions while in twrp bc I remember I would get as far as twrp and then loose the bootable os until I had reflashed the correct boot from inside twrp and I recall dmverity can be mitigated with a zip flashed inside twrp , now that sounds great but only just the right twrp would allow for this flashing feature at all so again hit and miss , I’ll go look at some of those files and review before I make any specific suggestions which would drive me nuts but if your lucky I was actually just noticing I still had an old custom rom that I had cooked up with one of those command line rom kitchens, so standby for real info but for now off hand …
Androidfilehost.com was a killer source of roms and where I found the working twrp
Back then samfirm was already depreciated but still worked and it was the fastest around but

Jonny boy , again knowing I don’t really know I want to say your good to go as I flashed all manner of rom from all over but I do remember something about I think the us version that seemed XAR less appealing I think bc it was a little more locked down but you would do well of course to refer to that list of the country codes for the roms obv, and as far as twrp I found mine on that android file host but on that same site was an identical looking version that once inside couldn’t flash or mount things properly , see what the trick was , was once armed with a twrp flashable zip i would wipe everything and include the dmverity disabled and whatever else , the patched boot.img And so if your careful even if you flash the wrong twrp first you can inside still flash that other one and reboot to it , my custom rom is nothing to get interested in all it were was a trimmed down stock , tho I did manage later to get some neat custom boot animations , I’ll check out my old files and return sooner this time
