yeah, just edited my post. thanks again

So if I am not mistaken, breaking the bootloader on the Thunderbolt was accomplished using a leak such as this. I wonder if this will be the case on the Evo 3D? I hope so, as I am considering upgrading to it.

[Q] Android 2.3

Is it possible to make a custom rom with android 2.3 for samsung epic?
Not till the source comes out even then we won't see one for a while

If you had bothered to search before posting, you would already know this is not possible yet. You would also know that this is not the proper place to post such a question, even if it had not already been asked and answered several times...
How do these people manage to even turn their computers on when they can't even read and follow simple instructions?

Hey there styles420, it's already been done. I'm running gingerbread on my HTC Hero currently, so if you did some research before replying, you would know that the question was valid.

Thus, further proving my point that the OPs question was valid. ROMs are coming out daily and managing to get 2.3 running on a Hero (quite possibly the least suitable phone for 2.3 in regards to hardware) furthers the validity of the OPs question.
what is wrong with people being greddy with updates?when we were on 2.1 ppl gt angry and want 2.2 even if our phones wasbetter than everything else on 2.2 wen were on 2.1..now we are tasting 2.2 everyone wants 2.3?wtf is wrong with u guys?

My expectations are high for having 2.3 on Epic sooner than later, given the similarities innhardware with Nexus S. I know there is more to it than just copying it over from another device, but I would hope It would be faster than the time it took for us to get Froyo.
Seeing the Hero run it is just amazing. I mean, I would expect Evo up there as one of the first, but not Hero.
Keep supporting and encouraging our devs and soon we will see it!
You would be amazed at how fast this runs on a hero, the queen of lagging. You all are in for a treat when it does get ported or released.

Your kidding right! You crack me up. Just cause it boots up on a hero it is far from fully functioning and they even said without source many things won't even work. It is very unstable. I got an idea, why don't you start porting it over since you have high expectations. I'll be here waiting for your beta! What a waste of time :~) You need at least Gingerbread OTA or source in order to get that Hero fully functioning!

So if it has the looks but none of the funtionality, isnt a Gingerbread theme for the Hero then? If so, then we already have Gingerbread!

Never once did I say that I was running a fully functional version of 2.3 on my Hero, but back to the OPs remark.
"Is it possible to make a custom rom with android 2.3 for samsung epic?"
I do have a custom rom with android 2.3 running on my hero. So, yes, it is very possible. Now will the devs working on the Epic do this? Maybe not.
I would be willing to bet that I run a 2.3 ROM way before any of you will thanks to the kind devs working with the Hero.
With that being said, I apologize for stumbling on the Epic forum while trying to help a friend root his device. You may go on with your life bashing those who ask repeat questions. I would like to take this time to thank the majority of you for convincing me not to use my upgrade on the Epic if not only for the sole reason of lack of support. I will happily wait for a dual core A9 powered device to come out and stick to my dysfunctional Hero!

Woah, don't ever try to update your Nexus with an OTA update meant for the Desire. Bad things could possibly happen.
And I don't think a new Desire update is much news for us though.

True, and it should be flagged Desire, although there may be things in it we could use.
The reason I think its a market update is because when the initial alert popped up it was a whole bunch of text and such then asked if I wanted to update now or later and if I wanted to use wifi or mobile data blah blah and in that initial jumble of text I saw it said Market.

I'm sure we'll get a source release soon enough.
So you got a FROYO ota on a DESIRE, why in the world are you making a thread in the nexus one forum?
Ok, I think this could be a Market update for HTC android phones.
That's because my colleague's LOCKED and UNROOTED HTC Desire HD has the new 2.2.6 Market.
And I know it has been changed because just a few days ago I was playing with it and it had the old market.
So question is, are Nexus One users also getting the updated Market as well?

Honestly I'm not sure how you can post in four different locations that the Evo 4G now has Android 2.3 and have it just be a mistake? Anyone else think thats a little excessive for an accident?

Well they might not be laughing too long with Google's purchase of Moto. Never know where I'll spend MY money next. They ain't the only game in town. I just posted that on FB
Unbelievable. What is wrong with HTC? I can't believe they'd want to alienate users of one of their recent phones like this.
I saw this on their site
"HTC is committed to assisting customers in unlocking bootloaders for HTC devices. However, certain models may not be unlockable due to operator restrictions. We continue to work with our partners on this, check back often for ongoing updates about unlockable devices."
Which means if Sprint says NO, I guess HTC's hands are tied.

My thinking exactly,I keep coming to remmember when agrbren announced he'd found an exploit ? Then talked to HTC about said exploit,Wondering with a hint of conspiracy if that hole exists in our kernel and they are working to close it? But then they wouldn't have released the 3d and Sensation kernel so fast> just rambling Tirerd need to go to bed, long night tonite.

They are busy there, but they focus on Samsung Phones.... I checked there daily when I used a Transform...
FYI, I don't recommend Samsung phones... They have nice specs, but need replacement Roms to really shine, and even then they still have issues.... My biggest gripe was no CM7 port....

[Q] Any devs willing to help?

I'm in the middle of trying to port my FIRST ROM!
I'm very excited but I'm very new as well. I was wondering if any devs were willing to help me once it's complete to see whether I've done it right or still need some help. If you could contact me or below and I'll get back to you with all the info once I'm done!
ETA: Tomorrow afternoon (2-3 PM EST)
TIA! I'm really pumped about getting into this stuff!
Update:
Here's the final port (beta obviously)
***download***
If anyone is willing to try it out and help guide me on how to fix any problems, I'd gladly appreciate it!!!!
I'm no dev, but I'll give you a couple of things to watch out for.
Low mic - make some calls. Sckboy78 has a low mike fix he uses on his roms that is probably linked in some of his release threads.
Device name - make sure you change the right line over in the build.prop so that it shows HTC Glacier as the device type in settings. That is covered in Mr. Highway's porting guide, but people tend to miss it.
I'm no recognized developer, but I am very good at porting. Are you porting sense or AOSP? PM me with questions or need a tester.

Alright I just finished! Sorry it was a little past the ETA.... But should I post in the Dev area or have some people test it out first?

It's actually pretty common to my experience. Zips missed it in a couple of his earlier builds. Basically your signal never changes. Like I'd always have either two bars or full bars (depended on the ROM, never understood why they're different) and I'd know for a fact that it's wrong.
