Which are the best cpu and memory settings for x8?
Wich rom do u use?
If is minicm, you can easily go to, 729 or 748 mhz with no reboots, smooth and stable

Which is the best app?
You must test which frequency is best for you because every processor is different. One can run on 729 MHz without problems but other can't. You can use CPU Master or SetCPU from Market or other apps
but no need to use 3rd party apps if using miniCM, since you can change OC in cyanogenmod settings
and it's just as dbts25 said, every cpu is slightly different, some people can't even overclock cpu to 614 mhz, and some can go over 800...
i prefer using 691 or 710, these two are pretty stable for me, and my limit is 729 - i can't go higher no matter how much i try - the phone reboots immediately
i'd recommend you to check it yourself, and when you find a good, stable frequency, reduce it by 19 mhz - you'll propably have less reboots, if any at all it's more secure to do so in my opinion.

As we all know, our Heros can be overclocked to different maximum frequencies depending on how lucky we are. So, I'm starting this thread because I'm curious as to how various Heros overclock.
To start off, my Hero is stable at 730MHz. It's the North American 3G version issued by Telus in Canada.
I was running at 710MHz but that was the limit of the kernel.
749 MHz, the limit of the kernel. But the phone runs faster on flykernel at 749 than another one I had at 800
GIYF 10 char
Well,I am a lucky guy obviously! My Hero can overclock @768 and be stable enough, but as the Gallery app crashes at this frequency(dunno why) I use it @749.But maximum overclock?800 MHz for a little less than a minute!
768 max, 19 min
Iirc
I have overclocked etc phones before but I am reluctant to do so on my hero (original ROM 2.1 intact). If I may ask, is it setCPU being used to overclock? Does the phone need to be rooted?
My Hero, and the XDA app, made this post possible.

Yes, the phone needs to be rooted in order to overclock.
I personally use Overclock Widget but I think SetCPU works as well.
710mhz works fine for me. 748 is very unstable and keeps rebooting
Running @ 748 on 3uk bought about 5 months ago.

Just got 768MHz running. Not sure how stable yet, time will tell. XD
Well I can only manage 698 I can push it to 710MHz but it locks up if I put any strain on the CPU (forcing SetCPU to actually ramp up the clocks past 698).
It sux to be me I suppose
My kernel only lets me overlock to 691 Mhz (EzHero default kernel). Where can i get a kernel wich allows higher values?

Dev needs to create or edit the kernel to allow higher values. Kernels are rom specific.
Running stable at 710mhz on a 5month old Hero.
Seems that anything higher than that, and it would just freeze or become incredible unstable!

ditto that
691 is max stable. 3 months old European Hero.
710 starts eventually loop boot animation.
I found that there is little to no difference between 691 and any above.
So I keep mine at 691.
currantly 156>710 i can push it up to 756 but a tad unstable. but been running at that for over a week now..
vallain 12 1 year old hero gsm
Mine is stable at 653 mHz... However it's almost a year old (it's birthday is 7. of august)
i have have rooted htc wildfire and have installed CM7.1.
can any1 pl guide me how to over clock the CPU.
after entering cyanogen-mod settings>performance>CPU setting, i have min CPU frequency which is currently 352 MHz and max CPU frequency which is currently 528MHz. do i need to change them directly or do i need any kernel for this?
regards.
Just change the values. CM7 comes with an OC kernel preinstalled.

which values are best for Minimum and maximum CPU frequency.
I read 691 max 160 min but it's not law.
where are the experts
pl guide what is the best minimum and maximum CPU speed that i should set to get maximum performance from wildfire.
It all depends on you and your preferences.
If you're playing games use 729 as max
If you want max battery use 480 as max.
352 is a good minimum overall.

Please find the SetCPU thread under XDA Forums, HTC Dream: G1 > G1 Apps and Games. Or http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=505419
It's an app for you to overclock your wildfire with custom rom. Download the latest one, send it to your phone's SD, install the apk using Astro or other file managers. The app includes On demand, based on how much MHz you currently need. It is free, but you could donate to the producers of the app. I'm now currently running on 710Max/245Low On Demand. Pretty sweet app.
Well Min 480 and Max 729 ... if u want performance!! (M using the same)
hi, i have the last pc fighter rom, which is based on cm, so i can overlock the phone with that settings
but i wanted to know which are the risks of it
and how do i do it
i mean, the min frequency is at 245 and max at 600, if i put the next higher frequency, do i need to put a higher min frequency too?
is there a rule or something while doing this? i mean, if i high something, i high/low another thing, and stuff ?
would be nice if you could tell me
i want to play smooth on fpse, thingh that i could get with an overlock
thank you!

Just get setcpu and do what ever you like. Play around with the frequency until you find it unstable
or there are lots of free overclock apps out there but setcpu has the best interface
No need for external app, increse max in small steps to see what is your cpu max, when you found max stabile speed enable set on boot and that is it.

hey folks,
I would like to know what is the maximum stable overclock possibe for zte blade.
Im using cm7 nightlies and the max overclock frequency i can see is 864MHz. But my device will be stable only upto 691MHz or 710MHz.
What is your blade's max stable overclock.?
I heard some other android devices can be overclocked to their maximum value and remain stable at that value. What about ZTE blade. I think blade gets a lot of performance if it reaches stable at 864MHz. I don't bother the battery life or overheating really.
Is there any hack or something like that.?
672 max stable for me, my old one did 748. depends on your phone.
Has anybody had it over 800 stable?

once i used the userspace governor and got it to 806mhz and it was absolutely stable.

I think it doesn't really change the speed with that governor, it's designed so you use a program to set the speed yourself, except none exist, I assume it doesn't work at all without it. It needs something to write the desired speed to a system device, if nothing does that then it'll just stay at the same speed.
Test new speeds with performance governor, that keeps the cpu at it's maximum speed, it's not ideal for battery life but you can see if it really is stable at that speed.
I got my blade to 806 mhz, too. I stress tested it with setCPU, and it was stable.
I didn't have the guts to test higher than 806, though.
and I don't leave my phone on overclock.

Just make sure that it isn't set to overclock on boot when you're testing higher speeds. Then the worst that can happen is it crashes & you know it doesn't work. Needs to be done in the name of science, so I know if it's worth enabling 864mhz & above in my kernels, or if nobody can ever get that high.
Nobody has managed to overvolt our cpu (msm7227) yet, I checked Google, it's probably not realistic to hope for it. I'm not sure it's possible at all. So whatever the maximum stable speed for your phone is, you're stuck with it, it'll never get any faster.

i dont think then galaxy 3 1ghz is possible that someone was talking about without overvolting
My blade can go to 748, over its reboot after 10min at performance governor

It's a totally different cpu to the blade. I could add an option to make your phone run at 1ghz if you want, but it'll just crash straight away, the samsung has a faster & different cpu. We'd need more volts to even attempt it.
Your phone will never run faster than 710mhz stable, if that's what you can get. There is no possible way, other than buying a different phone, to make it run any faster.
I'm still interested to see if anybody can actually run their phone at 864mhz without it crashing, for those few people, they might be able to go faster.
@wbaw , thanks for the info.
Surprised to hear that no one attempted to overvolt msm7227 . I feel it is still a great cpu with adreno 200 included and many current low end phones are having it.
i can get 748 on performance i had it for about half an hour with no reboots
I saw on Antutu benchmark that some people got their blades to 1.5 ghz.
It's probably a hoax.

Yeah, had see some with 3000 points, but its a build prop hack or somethings like this

Hm... The highest CPU rate without crashing was 710 Mhz for my Blade. Any higher values causes a unstable work or just rebooting.
My blade can handle 748 with sd writing but without 806 (but if you write to sd it crashes)

729MHz is stable. 748MHz used to freeze sometimes.
729 Mhz with SmartAssV2 & CM7.
748 is stable with Performance governor for me,even on reboot. Haven't tried 768 and above.

My device runs at 748M and stable, but crash if faster.
I dont know if really many knows how to overclock your GPU but i tell it here if you didnt know.
Go to here:/sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/
Then open gpu_oc in text editor and change number to 0, 1 or 2 and then save.
0= 307 Mhz 1= 384 Mhz 2= 500 Mhz
I recommend not to oc to 500 Mhz because your tab 2 will get really hot in 10 min. in gaming and other use.
All of them are stable at least for ME(maybe because my tab 2 is only 2 months old but still gets hot)
384 Mhz is good because it doesnt fry your tab and you get faster performance.
I dont know if this workson other phones/tablets but try at your own risk. But remember that in some games CPU overclocking may help too and i know it helps alot in shadowgun dz.
You overclock at your own risk.

This only counts for specific kernels, particularly OC kernels, I use mine at 512mhz, CPU at 1350mhz, runs pretty solid, I use CM 10.1.2 with AGNI Pure CM Kernel, prefer either AGNI Purestock for stock based roms and PureCM for CM roms as Boeffla config app is included, in that app you can set the GPU OC and it sticks, in the other kernels, you need to edit and save that text file after every power cycle.
I have actually looked for that type of app so thanks for sharing that app.
TricksterMOD from play store allows you to OC GPU as well.
