So is there a one click root app that works to root because z4root doesn't work after update
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
I'm unable to root as well. Been trying the alternate methods without success. Can't even get ADB to work.
verizon fascinate DL09 *UNROOTED AND CURRENTLY UNABLE TO ROOT*
I used this method a few minutes ago and it seemed to work:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=803682
EDIT: Scratch that, I tried installing a rom and it failed.
z4root does NOT work with DL09 nor does any one click that i know of... you must use the d2 method found here. I just rooted using this. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=779238

It seems to vary from person to person.
Some people have had success with z4, some have had success with 1-click...
i'm seeing that as well. thanks for the update!! i think a lot of people are going to have issues with this... if they just learned ADB they wouldnt have this problem!!

I used ADB to root my phone and install clockwork recovery not a single issue

it uses a diff directory structure, inststead of android-sdk\tools
its in android-sdk-platform\tool\platform
or something like that
but i cant get the root to take using any method yet
I was able to successfully root my device using the files from here, its a 1 click method too.
http://forum.androidcentral.com/fascinate-roms-hacks/33899-how-root.html
If you can get into recovery, and mount system as r/w, you can root it...
Push the files necessary for root such as busybox, superuser, etc
Now how you do that?
I'm not sure.
I used the superoneclick root. Windows XP with 32bit Drivers and FOLLOWED THE INSTRUCTIONS ON THE POST.
This method worked for me
verizon fascinate DL09 *UNROOTED AND CURRENTLY UNABLE TO ROOT*
Possible reason for failure
I had similar issues when I tried to manually root my fascinate after the dl09 update, and was using the most current samsung usb drivers...i think 1.3.550.
I removed the drivers and used the older 1.3.450 and was successfully able to root.
To do without a one click app please give directions because I don't know how to root using other methods

Are there any roots out there that are current and will work with the new updates that are on my phone. All the roots I have looked at were from mid-summer 2010.
I want to root my EVO, but don't want to end up with a brick.
Thanks!
Just rooted my wifes with all of the updates using the one-click unrevoked and it worked flawlessly.
Go to unrevoked.com and download the latest for the evo

i have read that this doesnt work with 2.2 hboot
ok, there are three working root methods that all work for the newest update.
1: a one click method known as unrevoked. www.unrevoked.com. it doesnt teach you anything, just roots. and if i were you, i'd try and learn something bcuz you only have one post. works best on mac, but also on pc.
2: a sorta-one-click method by xhausx. it is just a scripted version of #3. sorta teaches you. works most of the time. very good. xhausx is very responsive and helpful to problems. only for pc.
3: the method linked in my sig. meant for pc but can work for mac with some slight modifications. manual root method. teaches you everythign you need to know. if you get stuck, people (including me) will help you through.
hope this helps.
and i can tell u r new here w/ ur one post, but try searching next time. either using google or the built in search feature.
anyone had a chance to look at this and try it? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1044765
I've heard it works but I have no need to try it
It appears that a few Droid X owners have successfully used this exploit, according to some of the responses in the link you provided. I'll be interested to see if this will work on the final Ginberbread OTA (keeping fingers crossed)!
I just tried it and it works. No problems arose.
That's definitely good news if the OTA comes out and it's got important tweaks that .588 doesn't have.

Trust me it works fine on my droid x and i been looking to root for a while and had no luck, but this works!!

As long as you don't use it there will not be any problems
Just SBF'd to .340 and used the official update to .588, GingerBreak worked fine except I'm having issues getting Titanium Backup to recognize it has root. I get the prompt to allow it, but the app still says it doesn't have it. Other root apps, like adfree and autokiller memory work just fine. Hmf.
Scratch that. Just went back into TB, updated busybox and it's right as rain. Two thumbs up!
Works great for my DX, however, I need to un-root it and I've tried several ways from other forums and I am not having any luck.
Does anyone know the procedure to un-root for GingerBreak?
Edit: I don't have Gingerbread installed either, I'm just running 2.2.1 - I don't know if this makes a difference when trying to un-root this. If anyone could help me out I would appreciate it. I've been scouring trying to find a solution and I've had no luck yet. I've tried rooting then unrooting when the one-click program and that isn't helping me either. Any suggestions??
I don't know if this can be answered but it doesn't hurt to ask. How come the ota cannot be rooted but the P3droid version of GB can be rooted? If its the same thing then what is the difference on why it cant be rooted?
Just going to guess here (this is speculation not fact) but I would assume that p3 being as skilled as he is was able to reopen the exploits used to root that motor/verizon closed in the ota.

yea, what chbennet said sounds about right.
it just has to be rooted before it's put onto the phone. once on the phone, it cant be done.
hello im wondering if there is a way to root the atrix 4g 2.3.4 without a computer. I have tried other sites but they dont give me the right solution so if and of you can it would be great.
I don't think so. I think I read somewhere they got a "1-click" method working but it still requires a computer.

To my knowledge, there is no un-tethered root program. You have to be able to remote access the phone's internal memory.
You can easily root your ATRIX running Gingerbread, but without out a computer is tough.

If you dont have CWM - no.
If you have CWM - there's a CWM root file somewhere around the forums, it worked for me
So I lost my phone..the new one came in last night. And it came with 2.3.4.. I tried to down grade it..followed all the instructions from the forum and everything worked fine..until the bootloader part. It said that it couldn't find the
PD15img.zip file when I put it in the root of the sd card. And then I followed the FAT32 method to make the phone read my sdcard..but that still Didn't work..now what?? Used the search bar but could find anything..

Look in the vision g2 section I was in the same boat as you there is a tut in those forums for downgrading to 2.2.1 with adb it also works for mt4g wish I still had link but its there
Same here... Lost my phone and received the replacement yesterday (off course version 2.3.4). Turned out it is a refurbished, the speaker not working, the earpiece not working. I missed another release of lovely Miui
I just happened to see this post and am curious what the problem is... Why are you downgrading it???
I have a Mytouch 4g (HTC Glacier) which was having issues and I just got the replacement. I have not even turn it on, but I have not doubt it will be 2.3.3-- their latest OTA udpate.
Is there going to be any problem rooting this?? Again, it alarmed me that people were trying to downgrade..
Has the firmware/bootloader changed???

There is no method to root 2.3.4 yet. That's why people have to downgrade.
Do you mean like downgrade from 2.3.4 to 2.2.1 root it, and then upgrade to 2.3.4?
But the only way to do that is if we had the stock 2.3.4 rom, which we don't have, correct?
So I can skip the root and wait, or I can downgrade and be able to use 50% of the apps which I would otherwise be unable to use as they require root.
This sucks.... I am sure someone is working hard on this... but I am surprised there has not been any method (even one that was risky -- as in one typo and you've bricked it) figured out by someone...
Ummm.. Next question then, Can anyone tell me any obvious benefits of the TMO 2.3.4 stock? Is it fast, or mediocre? Or is it just worthless due to the fact that you cannot root it?

Didn't quite understand what you mean but yes, if you got the phone pre-installed with TMO's 2.3.4 then there's no way to root that. You would have to downgrade back to Froyo then root it.
There really are no benefits to TMO's stock 2.3.4 since CM7 2.3.5, VU's 2.3.4 and MIUI's 2.3.5 GB are all better and faster. And even if you liked TMO's GB version for some reason there are rooted and deodexed versions to flash in the dev section. So there really is no downside to rooting.
And as previously stated, the only way to downgrade would be to use that thread in the G2 section which requires ADB.
If you have any questions I just finished downgrading my replacement phone and and rooting via gfree last night.
And before last night I've never even used ADB before.
Found 2 threads that helped me do just that.
Got it all downgraded then followed a video to root gfree. (mackster248)
(Never rooted that way before either.)
Anyway PM if you need help. Maybe I can help you out.

I came over from Sprint Sunday. I bought a new MT4G, and it had 2.3.4 on it. I had a bad feeling there wasnt gonna be a root method for it. I jumped on my PC and did a few google searches. I came up with this method to downgrade:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1178912
It went perfect. I also looked at a few of the root methods. I found this one to be easiest for me:

I only post this becuase I havent seen any links posted and I imagine alot more people are gonna end up with the GB MT4G's out of the box. Total time to downgrade and root was less than 30 minutes.
same thing happened to me, I tried the adb process but it's hard. so I gave up.. Good luck to you

Yes you would half to downgrade to 2.2.1 to root there is no way to root 2.3.4 right now
Yea, unlike most of the other HTC. Phones that got a 2.3.4 update, revolution doesn't support unlocking the mytouch 4g without a downgrade. On the first page of this thread I posted a link to downgrade and the easiest way I found to root. Someone also posted links on this page. I found a few other root methods but they required you to install apps to gain temp root access or download files on the phones browser. The link I found actually only requires you to dl and unzip a few files to your PC and run maybe 10 or 12 commands in a terminal. Very easy.
