How is your experience?
Enough speed to use tapatalk, but to slow to browse internet;-)

Tried, speed are just acceptable but, most of apps require higher speed.
speed are unstable from 3kps ~ 190 kps.
In gerneral, EDGE network is not acceptable as 3G phone network connection for Android phone.

I was wondering, on spec for the phone it says 7.2/2 Mbps, but I'm getting max speed about 2.4/0.3 Mbps even though my ISP is providing HSDPA/HSUPA internet.
What speeds do you get with HD maximum?

I went to http://www.dslreports.com/mspeed and used 1mb download and got 327kbps
what test did you use so I can send comparative results to you
Ps I live in Thailand so internet is not great no HSDPA as far as I know
I ran dslreports test now and got 1344 kbit/s.
Those speeds I mentioned before I tested on desktop computer connected to HTC via USB and using speedtest.net
I get low results with dslreports.com. The fastest download speed I have ever seen was when i connected blackstone to laptop via USB and enabled Internet Sharing. Then on laptop I used www.speedtest.net and got 3.8 Mb/s. Thats pretty good result IMO.
Aha. Way to go. So it's possible.
Speedtest.net is where I usually test the speed but that does not work on the mobile due to java etc.
My bro has just updated to 'N' Router and 50Meg Broadband with Virginmedia and I wonder how this can be shown on my mobile. Where can I go to test the speed that the HD2 is downloading at so I can compare My Belkin125 MIMO router at 20meg Broadband.
I have done the 'N' Cab update and not convinced that it has really made any difference to the speed of downloads.
TIA
Ricco
Hi, you could try http://www.mobilespeedtest.com/. There's a video of an HD2 test here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XRlx3bsp0ho.
DSLreports has a mobile speed test as well.
I get around 600+ kbps with my HTC HD2 on T-Mobile US.
i got 1026 Kbps in Austria with HSPA
For best results you have to choose http://www.mobilespeedtest.com/test/huge.php
Then it will test with 2 MB and you will enjou your full HDPA-Speed
EDIT:
Now im getting around 1565

How the...I get 250-350 on an average...I get full 3G signals and all that...
I live at las vegas.
Update: Oh yay. 101kbps. wow. I'm just above dial-up.
Mobilespeedtest gives values all over the place that reflect more of "where are you living?" than "how fast is my connection?"
I get between 1000 and 2000kbps results on my PC, on a 25Mbps line.
at home via router.. network speed
what download speed do you get?
756kb/sec in manchester, uk with 1 bar of hsdpa on vodafone

What browser for speed tests
I've read that speed tests should be done using Internet Explorer. It seems that Opera and Skyfire use their servers and could impact the results. Could someone say if this is truly the case.
dont bother with mobilespeedtest (well unless you live next door to them)
I've run loads of tests from phone and home (v media) and their results are always different and always slow.it reads my ten meg bb as never better than 2 or 3 meg.don't have an alternative though, sorry.

Yeah, every speed test seems to suffer in this area.

certainly for sky fire, yes, they are connecting completely on your behalf.opera is a bit different cos it doesn't always user the proxy(think theres a difference between opera mobile and opera mini, plus turbo mode in the new version...)
course, tethering the comp and running speedtest.net (always been bang on for me) from the comp would work.
In the default Opera version on the T-Mo US HD2 I got around 600 - 700kbps.
In IE through mobile speed tests right after the opera test I got 4762kbps
I'll have to tether it later and see what speedtest.net says lol.
Just wondering, do anyone here feel that the 3G speed is slower on the Xoom in comparison to other devices?
I did speedtest on my Galaxy Tab and Xoom and realize that the speed difference is rather significant. I'm not sure whether to attribute this to Honeycomb or the individuals apps.
I once tested it at 7Mbps down! It is faster over HSDPA here than it is over my ADSL WiFi!
are you using the stock or custom rom?
Hi!
Has anyone reached more than 65 Mbps? I tried many different options on my Asus RT-N66U, but I haven't got faster. When I connect to my WLAN, SGN shows only 65 Mbps, while router supports up to 450. If there is a way to get faster I would greatly appreciate to know how) I use 5GHz, WPA2-PSK network
Thanks in advance

Well, might as well respond to this.
Note is being advertised with 802.11N but it isn't exactly what you think. Usually if you see WiFi N you automatically think it's 150 or 300 or 450 in speed.
How they reach those theoretical maximum speeds is MIMO and higher bandwidth. (Multiple-Input Multiple-Output)
Now look at wifi routers or adapters. See a router with 150M? It has one antenna. See a router with 300M? It has two antennas. See a router with 450M? It has three antennas.
Now if you look at their specs you can see they support 20Mhz and 40Mhz bandwidth.
With single 20Mhz link the max you can reach on WiFi N is 72.2Mbps. With single 40Mhz link you can reach 150Mbps.
Now add another link and what happens? Possible speed doubles. Add another link and it triples compared to single.
See the chip/antenna in our phones (other phones as well) isn't simply capable of higher speeds.
The chip and antenna in our phone is only capable of single 20Mhz link. Add higher bandwidth -> more battery is drained. Add another link -> more battery is drained.
If I were you I'd take a quick look at the wiki page for IEEE 802.11 and read a little about the bandwidth, data rate and such. It's actually rather entertaining stuff.

My views coming from a network administrator's perspective.
What sort of Router are you using, what sort of files are you accessing / transferring.
just an example, do you understand there are various type of switches, Normal, Low Latency, Ultra low latency etc...
My point is there are many factors to consider before you can reach certain speed, N specify XX speed means it can reach that speed but criteria do matters.
As far as I am concerned the S4 has capabilities of WiFi speeds of up to 433Mbits.
I have a TP-Link AP and configured it as follows:
11n Only
Channel 11
20/40MHx
Max Tx Rate 300Mbits
Security WPA2 AES
However on my S4 I get only 65Mbits
On my ISPs modem/router (Arris) I have the same setup with Channel 6 and I get 75Mbits.
Even if I get very close to the device, the bandwidth won't change. I know I can't get the 300Mbits but I cannot understand why I can't get at least the same 75 that I get with the Arris device or even at least higher than the 75.
If I do a speedtest.net speed test at home via wifi I can get 117MBits over 5G wireless on my S4 so I'd say it was your set up mate. Let me know what you're using to test your network speeds and i'll do a comparison for you

Maybe flash another modem? Not sure if it will work, but worth a try
Me Gusta!
I'm not talking about data speed but local Wi-Fi only, not internet speed. I'm just using the Wi-Fi manager desktop widget which shows me the max speed for each network as soon as it connects.I know that this is approximate but since it always shows 75 on one and 65 on the other, it certainly means something

The highest link speed I get from my i9505 with N Type router is 72 Mbps.
We're talking about 2.4Ghz N300 here even when they are only 1 cm apart.
I've only ever got these speeds on every Rom and modem I've used, stock or rooted.

Data is data wherever is coming from. We're measuring the speed over the wifi here.
65-70 MBits is more than acceptable over 2.4Ghz. If you want faster change your router for a 5Ghz model.

Or buy another Smartphone with dualchannel connect… (My second Phone is "Huawei G700" and that connect my 2,4GHz Router with 135 Mbit/s! My S4 connect the same Router with 72Mbit/s only!)
