Any know a online vendor or part number for those tiny little swiches on flex cable to control vol up & down?
One fell off (the button part) and I rather solder a new button (.10 piece)
then buy a $50 new flex cable.
Maybe mouser has then but I have no idea where to search

i only want track + for power switch
any pic plz
& thanks for all
Connect to USB charger, remove battery, insert battery.
Search eBay for a flex cable, one of them includes the power switch.
Connect USB charger and wait for charging light to appear, while still inserted remove the battery quickly and watch for the charging led to disappear. Once it does quickly insert the battery again before the light returns, the phone should vibrate and start up.
As for tear down guides:

As rusty said you can buy a new flex from eBay and replace it yourself, this will fix the power button. However before doing so, disassemble your N1 as far as the logic board removal (Part that holds power button) and double check that the broken component isn't simply the plastic button but rather a problem with the logic board/flex. The plastic power button should have a small piece of plastic which actually presses on the power button on the flex, if it is broken and the flex still functions correctly then you should be able to buy and replace the plastic button only for much cheaper.
If you've any questions, just ask.
Hey, i just replace my digitizer for my t-mobile hd2 and successful got it back together and thought that everything was work, but i could not get the volume button in. I got it in after putting the chassis on but the volume button still doesn't work. So if anybody could give me some input on this that would be very helpful.
Do you feel the button take action when you press it? If it does, then the contact is made with the button, the problem might be something else.
a guy from HTC repair said its better to change whole screen instead of replacing digitizer.
As mentioned, can you feel the button depressing when you add pressure to the rocker? Pull the case back off and press the button manually to see if it works when powered on. If it works then, realign the flex cable and retry. If it still doesn't work, then you most likely damaged the flex cable and need to replace it.

In addition to said above check housing screws, they must be tightened because if they are missing plastic volume keyboard will misalign with flex cable volume keys and it will be impossible to press them.

It can be found on eBay for about 43-44 bucks. Good luck!
On my ZteBlade, The little power button (The one stuck on the pcb) just fell off!? - It will be a pretty tough job soldering it back on unless i can get a replacement button
anyone got any ideas
search ebay for a small button and solder it with a 25 watt soldering iron
For all you Repair guys,
How do you re-assemble the volume up down key without damaging the buttons on the flex board.
Do you attach the back housing then insert the volume key?
Or it has to be done with both back housing and volume key at time of assembly?
hints tips please
In for an answer
This is driving me crazy as well! Has anyone figured it out? I get it in there and som, etimes volume up will work, but not volume down. The official HTC video doesn't show how to do it exactly. It does show the volume key being in there when they put the chassis back in the plastic shell part though.
I just repaired another hd2 I installed both the volume key and housing at same time and worked, It didn't distroy the tiny buttons on flex this time.
JUst go slow and do not force it
use some tape to hold the volume button in the housing while you install the chassis / screen into it.
Vol keys button installs just before u put backside, put button and align, then CAREFULLY put backside and snap on.find best angle that buttton holds himself in normal position then snap....

The problem is difficult to diagnose from your description alone, there could be various factors involved, from faulty flexes, to digitizer and mainboard connectors.
I suggest if you are asking what you need to repair, you need to talk to a professional. And if you can potentially manage the assembly/disassembly, the volume key membrane is a part of a main flex that connects pretty much everything, it cannot be purchased separately or attached.
