you don't need one and you shouldn't use one
http://androidspin.com/2010/05/25/why-you-dont-need-a-task-killer-app-with-android/
Some stuff I have on mine:
Poweramp (best audio player)
MoboPlayer (best free video player)
3G Watchdog (if you need to keep track of your 3G bandwidth so you don't go over)
APNdroid (turns on/off your 3G with one press, works with 3G Watchdog)
AdFree (gets rid of annoying ads in some apps - requires root)
AutoRotate Switch (hold down the search button to toggle auto rotating, great for when you're lying in bed)
Bubble (leveler)
ColorNote (for grocery lists or any other notes)
Tiny Flashlight
Screen Filter (dims screen when you're using the phone at night like when you're in bed so its not too bright)
Titanium Backup (backup all your programs - requires root)
Wifi Analyzer (detects any wifi hotspot in the area)
Spare Parts (I use this to speed up window animations)
Barcode Scanner
Battery Solo Widget (shows a % of battery remaining)
Explorer (file manager)
Unit Converter
Angry Birds
Lighter Free (useless but fun )
Wow thank you very much for that!!
Can someone guide me into how to root this bad boy?
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App
Go to the stickies and there is a guide by kursk on how to root - looks pretty comprehensive to me. Just read it through a few times before you start and you should be fine.

I would also add the following:
SIMI clock widget - great clock app with weather and battery icon built in
Taskos - great for keeping up with to do list/ reminders
dialer one - for a great multi language dialer
Welcome to the club!
If I have to recommend an app, it would be widgetsoid - can replace *a lot* of widgets in the Market

I think adw launcher has an option for that sort of thing.. its whether you want the rest of the package or not...

You can download 1X1 widgets / switchers from the Market. You would not able able modify the Standard widget i think
Has anyone been able to find 1x1 (or similar) widgets for wifi + bluetooth + gps + data traffic, all in the same style? In those sets that I have found, one of them seems to be missing. I would like all buttons to look the same.

Beautiful widgets seems to be a paid app. I would love to pay, but the Norwegian market doesn't have that opportunity.
Any other options?

Google search beautiful widgets.apk, and if you find anything of importance, make sure you promise yourself that you'll pay once your out of the Norwegian market.
If you are rooted then you can try the market enabled and enable the US market on your phone to by Beautiful Widgets.
Thanks for your help, everyone. It turns out that Beautiful widgets does not include one for 2g/3g. However, I found OneClick widgets. It has 7 pieces of 1x1, and colours, effects and sizes can be customised. 2g/3g is just a short cut to the menu, but personally I prefer that to a fat, white button.

I seen someone post these screen shots and I am very curious of what everything is. I am not sure if they are themed or market widgets. I like the launcher too.
Can anyone put a name to what any of these are? I would definitely like to try them out. Thanks.
The launcher is launcher pro with an icon pack

that looks really cool, I might look into launcher pro.
Thanks. I am already using LauncherPro Plus, and now I have yet another reason to love it even more.

the widgets aren't part of launcher pro, as far as I know. For the clock, I think it's SiMi Clock widget for the one on the right. I'm not sure if it's also the one on the left
The battery ne is circle battery widget that is free from the market, the weather looks lke beautiful widgets which is a paid app

No I just really wanted to know what those icons were. I experimented with a launcher a long time ago on my mytouch and I hated how it looked and how it slowed my phone so I just had never tried one again but jeez that picture is just exactly the clean look I've been craving for my phone. I like the stock launcherpro icons but I am the kind of person who likes (free, not warez just free) options.

Yea, I definitely had it looking close. That Simi widget is a mystery. I am not sure how he got that horizontal like working in there like that. For the longer vertical line tho, just use LauncherPro's resizing and stretching it downward.

If for personal use, (and if rooted) you can always download adw icon packs (tons of free ones on market), go to root explorer, find the apk it installed to your data/app folder, copy it to your SDcard. (This is easier to do on ur computer). Open up the apk with 7zip, find the folder with the pngs and copy them to a folder. I keep an "Icons" folder on my sdcard containing folders with various icon packs, for ex. Then it's easy to browse and assign them as you please (as custom icons).
There's also a paid app called launcherpro icons that does a lot of the work for u.. all launcherpro themed. They also have a website (community contributed) u can just grab em off and copy to your sd- nice launcherpro docks too.

Ahh, one more thing, you guys should check out a widget called minimalist text on the market (i think an xda dev). It's super clean, and he's been refining it like crazy. Ultra customizable.

Any good calendar Widgets that display your upcoming events similar to the sense based Widgets?

smooth calendar
I've tried most of them. My favorites are:
Free - Android Agenda Widget
Paid - Pure Calendar Widget
Pure Calendar Widget I think is the best but it cost a couple dollars.

Pure Calendar Widget
I like business calendar cause it reminds me of the Sense calendar widget, which was my favorite of all the calendar widgets.
I am using Pure Calendar Widget, because it integrates with Got To Do, which is now defunct.
another +1 for smooth calendar here!
I was going through many different Widgets for various tasks. And then I tried launcher. It cut 10mb off my ram usage, also adds resisable Widgets (standard aswel), has a nice calander widget (I specifically bought it for this) and ads some sick customization. It is very stable too. Please note that this app completely replaces the stock launcher, and so will not even be cached on startup. There is a free version to try, but it is minus the Widgets you seek, but does have screen shots of them (in app). Sory if this seems off topic, but its just another consideration to take in with all the other very helpful suggestions.

Dunno about the HTC calendar but I'm using Android Agenda Widget which is very customizable, integrates with Astrid and GTasks (which in turn integrated with Google Tasks) and also displays your contacts birthdays.
It doesn't look very fancy but it works well!
Pure Calendar Widget vs Smooth Calendar
I just switched to Smooth Calendar from Pure Calendar. Pure Calendar is very functional and looks good unless you switch back and forth between landscape and portrait on your home screen. Regardless of the settings, in landscape Pure's widget gets horribly pinched and is not pleasant. I like Smooth because I really only want a good looking agenda widget; I prefer using the native calendar app for creation and editing.
On a side note, I really liked SPB Shell's calendar widget. Although the widget took an entire pane, it had both a good looking calendar and agenda. Ultimately, I uninstalled in favor of the better usability of ADW Launcher.
I like Android Agenda Widget.
1) Launcher Pro - built in
2) Colorize
3) Pure Calendar

What are some informational widgets that you guys like to use. It can be anything like battery status or clocks and such. I want to try some out and there really isn't a better way to find new ones than community recommendations?
Right now, the only one I'm using is Battery Left
I like battery text widget. It shows the battery level in text form.
Powered by Axura with a dash of Voodoo
Quick Settings, not exactly a widget but even so
Beautiful widgets, worth the price
And that's about it... i keep it simple

Let's hear your wishes for features for the yotaphone 2 in particular panels, apps and uses for the EPD, let's hope the developers at Yotaphone are monitoring this forum and take some ideas from us.
Here's mine for starters.
1. Notifications.
A Yota panel that acts as a Notification centre for all the notifications other than calls, emails and sms. The present system of getting you to flip over the phone is clunky and the weakest part of the whole experience. I would like to select which apps send notifications to the panel and then scroll, swipe and select them from the EPD as the appear. An Android wear compatable panel could be awesome.
2. Browser
A search bar yotapanel, like the google now one on the main home screen, this would open to an EPD optimised Web browser.
3. Some system toggle short cuts.
A panel where you can select system stuff E.g bluetooth on/off, airplane mode on/off, silent/buzz/normal volume toggle.....etc.
Sent from my GT-N8010 using XDA Premium HD app
Good idea for a thread.
Notification wise I love the sms and phone part of it, the other 2 are nice but I agree. They could be much better integrated. If yota could get the panels to integrate the mirror function on the notification widget bit, or just allow for customised assignment of apps to the email and notification app then it would be a bit less annoying.
Something like htc's blinkfeed or the flow home launcher (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.larvalabs.flow&hl=en_GB) would be good - a hub for general notifications, social media, rss feeds and whatnot.
Also agree that an EPD optimised browser would be nice, something basic and clean.
A settings panel would be excellent, I don't really use the music or book one, settings would be a nice function and a good way to keep use localised to the EPD if needed.
Need a few more options for the big panels, don't really use the reader or music player panels as I tend to use kindle app for reading and music player wise I listen to a lot of audio books and find that skipping back and forth is quicker using normal display.
Some more half page panels could be nice too, like a calculator and /or unit converter.
One thing i really miss so far is the clock alarm widget for Yota panel.
Sent from my YD201 using XDA Free mobile app
Just FYI, there is an EPD optimised browser, there is just no easy way to launch it. You can launch it by either clicking on twitter/rss links, or by launching chrome on the normal display and then holding the home button and selecting the place where YotaMirror usually is (the yota mirror icon will be replaced with some weird arrow icon).
Yes there is an easier way to launch the optimised browser - you just need to add apps launcher widget on yota panel and add chrome shortcut to it.
Sent from my YD using XDA app
Apps are starting to appear in the app store, if you search the store with "Yotaphone" some third party stuff is showing up, there is a great currency converter with a Yota panel widget for the EPD and a couple of e readers and even Office Suite (says Yotaphone optimised)
There's stuff that doesn't mention Yotaphone in the notes so why they come up I don't know, anyway stuff us starting to appear which is great

If you're using the big analogue clock which covers half the screen, then the digital time will show in 12 or 24 hour format below the clock hands according to system settings.

I find it quite clumsy to switch to Yotamirror (unlocking the back screen, press and hold home, select mirror). Should be possible with a gesture or doubletap on statusbar or something.
