For those who have updated to 2.3.4... - Nexus S General

Can anyone confirm weather or not Google changed the color scheme in 2.3.4 really want to update, but don't want a washed out screen...I'm still using 2.3.2..
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App

I think the 2.3.4 color changes a little bit from 2.3.3 but definitely doesn't look like 2.3.2's.

In other words still washed out.

I personally haven't noticed a changed from 2.3.1 to CM7 to 2.3.3 to 2.3.4. They all look good, while the whites on my Nexus One looks very bluish, when I put the same pics on both phones side by side.

easy answer.... Voodoo Color

They're almost the same as in 2.3.3 from what I see. But I don't get it... the grey's are actually grey now on low brightness, not purple or something like before, on 2.3.2. Don't you like that they've fixed that ? And no, they've not made the colors washed out. They're more natural now, even though that means less saturated than before.

How about the contrast?
2.3.3 set it to zero so the screen looks misty.

I'm sure that the 2.3.4 color changes a little bit from 2.3.3
Now I and my family have 4 differnet versions of SNS and I have compared these SNS colors
The 2.3.4 color is in the middle of 2.3.2 and 2.3.3

Wondering if Google has quit pushing the ota....

I have not seen or heard anybody receiving the 2.3.3 update lately, am starting to wonder if Google put a hold on it,has anybody received it via ota recently? ??

Google would have notified the community via twitter if they pulled it. Their original tweet said it would take a few weeks to get it out to everyone. Either wait patiently or push the update file readily available here on these forums.

So you want the update but you don't want the color change...? I'm confused. You can very easily backup 2.3.2 or even get the 2.3.2 colors on 2.3.3 with any Voodoo kernel
Also, I can say that for myself, the new colors look perfect. I wouldn't change them back for anything.

you never even tried 2.3.3 so you wouldnt know if you liked the color change or not. you can also flash a custom kernel (Netarchy's 1.2.5 has 2.3.2 colors and it works on 2.3.3)

the color is a intentional change they officially announced it
And actually a friend of mine updated his ns over the weekend and his looks like sh*t,but like some have said "not every screen is the same" may manually update tonight just to see what happens...

Yes it was intentional, but so are updates they release....doesn't mean there perfect or without flaws, always room for improvement ...just saying...
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App
I plan to update when I get the OTA. Haven't cared so much about it that I wanted to bother with the manual update. Still waiting on it, but we're only about halfway through the rollout period Google said to expect.
Was wondering the same thing, when 2.3.2 came out, me and my wife's ns got it 1 day apart. My wife's ns has gotten 2.3.3 for one week now, and mine still hasn't.
Just went cm7 today.
I was wondering along the same lines that OP said..
Havent received the OTA notification yet, and i've been 'checkin' quite often ...
but like kenvan19 said...google did say it'll take a few weeks..so let's hang tight..

SE 2.3 official rom photo leaked

its leaked from a website in mainland china
i cant tell if its true or not
http://www.eprice.com.cn/mobile/talk/3458/4474609/
according to the source
camera ui is the same as 2.1
not as smooth as arc
neocore not exceeding 30fps
He predicts that this rom will be released soon as there re not many bugs
aR_ChRiS said:

X10's 2.3.3 software will be released shortly, it is currently being tested.
The firmware is from Arc and Neo, and there are not many bugs, which would mean they could soon release the update.
There are something that we observed:
1. The camera interface is the same as we see on our X10s (referring to the 2.1 update)
2. The user experience is not as smooth as the Arc, which (hopefully) SE would enhance the smoothness of the firmware.
3. The 3D performance is not as good, the FPS is does not go over 30 in Neocore (30fps limit in our kernal)
PS:
1. Forgot to test how many touches are detected.
2. There is not enough time for writer to test, we need to test (play with it) for a while.
3 and 4 are irrelevant to what we are worrying about
5. The writer does not know how to extract the rom, and therefore would not be providing it.

Hidden Gingerbread Zombie

Just thought I would throw this out there as a odd find. Messing around with a friends Atrix I was checking the version of Gingerbread & noticed I was rapidly touching the Android Version in settings and the screen quickly transitioned to an image of the Gingerbread Zombie
Stock Android Gingerbread OTA update version 2.3.4 - Just continuously touched the Android Version field as quick as possible for a second or two & this appears. Curious to see if this happens to any one else.
It's called an "Easter Egg" and it's been like that since Gingerbread was released. Here is an article from December:

How many of you got bored with black and blue ics theme in our s2??

As the title tells, how many of you people still like the ics theme? Isnt it boring to see the same black and blue coloring scheme for a while? . I think its time to dust out and port the good old GB themes to ics.
Poll you opinion.
I'll be doing CM9 in many colours in the next couple of weeks.

There is so much to look for when it comes to SGSII. I mean, this phone launched and soon we have ICS. New CM, probably new theme changer, new cm music player. The blue black indeed gets boring, we'll probably see some nice custom status bar and themes like there are for gnex.

Plus blue is the colour that fades fastest on AMOLED screens, so having blue status bar icons could results in screen fade issues quicker if you're keeping your phone for a long time.
The main thing i hate about aosp stock ics look is the ridiculous default contact picture and icon, that stupid grinning face just looks so childish, as does the messaging icon with the smiley in a speech bubble. Some of us using this phone are adults!

Is the tweet from today by MongooseHelix a new fix? Cause the tweet links to something from 2 weeks ago.
Is the fix in that tweet already included in this Alpha ROM? Or is the fix something you need to manually flash afterwards?
The fix is in the alpha, he was just showing other devs I assume. Evervolv is my favorite rom, it just lacks a lot of the features of aokp

I experimented with a red one and a green one but they were for Evervolv p12... Looked good but needed a little tweaking (more xml edits, some pngs weird due to batch processing) and now it needs updating to 2.2.
I have a new daily phone but will still theme/mod the Inc so should have a few different colors eventually...
Thanks for the input, my motivation is directly related to demand.
Damn I would love to use the theme looks real good and I had my cm7 set like that. I am using aokp for the time being but generally run evervolv. I'll probably switch back whenever alpha 2 comes along, hopefully you will update the theme for it!
