why is there no guide for installing a different baseband? Nothing works for me... for example my baseband is 2.1.54 and i try to install the first one from here > http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1011608 < and installing thru xrecovery doesn't work same as for flashing...?
I suggest you click this link.
no guide ? looks like you and i see different forums. -.-
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=960527
That is just a patch. You have to flash the baseband through flash tool.
and if the file is just a .rar with folders and files in it?

You have to use a rom that supports that baseband.
I'm not sure what you mean. You can change the extensions by going to My Computer -> C:\ -> tap ALT -> tools -> folder options -> view -> untick "hide extensions for known file types.
Then you just rename the file from "name.rar" to "name.ftf"

if you're referring to cob's miui, you unrar it
flash the update.zip, boot into the rom
then when it "settles" go back into xrec and flash the bb patch.
confused where you're having trouble.....
If your bb is already .54 or .55, flash that patch and it fixes it.
If it is .49/.52 do nothing
Also, if you have a rar file that unrars to sin files, you can use the Flash Tool 0.2.9 to "create ftf bundle" in the toolbar options.

When you extracted the file.. He created a folder name [GingerFroyo.1.4.16]
Just open this Folder and inside you will see another folder in the same name..
This is one that you should copy in xrecovery/backup/ folder.. this file contains 4 files..

HI I have downloaded the I5800XXJPM.zip firmware but it has only 3 files in it. Now i am confused how to flash it in Odin. I have flashed earlier using both the method like different files and one package but this file is different. I think i need to make a tar file before.
files that is under the zip file is: factoryfs.rfs, modem.bin and zImage.
Please suggest me the right way.
probably you open the tar file, those three files are inside the tar.

not its a zip file which has a size of 125 Mb. Previously I flashed my odin with both ways (one package and also with 4 different files) but both of those files were different. Can u give me a link so that I download the right file. Make sure its XXJPM coz i will then flash to Indroid 4.1, currently i m in XXJPF.

1% battery mod is working only with fugumod 2.4 kernals!!
what you want to know about themes../??
Just go to themes section download any theme you like..
read all the instructions..
generally there are two to three files which you have to replace with old files in system/framework folder.
some have themed apks also.
you have to replace them with old apks in system/app
that should be helpful!!
PS A thanks buttob do exist there if u dont know !!
The missing files were logo.png and cache.rfs.
I think that missing logo.png is not big deal, but I don't know what cahe.rfs is supposed to do.

im unable to make a ftf file with flashtool. i unzip the file. then search it, select it in source folder. The flashtool never opens the file and subfiles. It never displays in the left column. Ive started with a zip file, then unziped it. Ive also tried winRAR to extract the files. Im using 2.9.1 Java 1.6.0_24 os 6.1
Any help or tips would be appreciated
Hey, you must sure that in the zip file just one file .ftf, if so, extract it. If there are 4 files like system, data ... you must rename the .zip file to .ftf

OK, what you have is wolfbreaks rom, this is installed on your phone via xrecovery not an ftf file, if you want to install it you need to install xrecovery on your phone first, then install this from there.
You need a rooted rom for this, so is your rom rooted and what version are you on 2.1 or 2.3
I have x recovery on my phone know. That's how I upgraded from 2.1 to 2.3, because my phone is sim unlocked. Super user is v2.3.6.1 I followed a thread on the upgrade. I can link which thread when I'm home.
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
I've tried installing via x recovery, by loading the zip file on my as card and loading it with xrecovery. But I don't see the file when I'm in xrecovery. Something I'm prob doing wrong

You probably have the name like E15i_2.1.plplplplppl.zip.ftf, you should enable the "Show extension" in Windows Explorer to be able to rename the extension. (You can find it at any random explorer screen, by going to "Extra">"Folder settings" and unselect the checkbox for "Hide known file extensions" <Not sure if it's named like this, i'm on a Dutch version of Windows>)
Rename it back to *.ftf and done.
Just download it again
Simples. If you can't download it againg just rename. Zip back to .fitful by showing extensions and renaming it

Hi. I've always thought about this. Some people say something like this
Copy the file aroma-config and updater-script from META-INF\com\google\android\ from 3.1.1 rom.zip to 3.1.2 zip to the same path. He will say v3.1.1 during installation, but he will install 3.1.2 and you can select CLK again.

And what does it mean? When I edit zip file, it doesn't work. Is there a program for this?

Looks like the update (the zip) mentioned in the quote disables a feature on the HD2 that was present before that update. See here - shouldn't you have included that link
hxxp://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1166948&page=1286
To prevent disabling the feature, the quote-poster advises to run the update with the updater script (the script that does the actual updating) replaced by an old version. To do that, download both update versions and replace the mentioned files mentioned in the post in the newest version. Rezip and apply the update.
Not sure if this is a wise thing to do if you don't know more about updating, restoring etc... At least backup your data.
No, it's just when I zip it after update, cwm doesn't want to install this and sees as damaged rom.
But 7-zip can change files in archive no need to unzip all. So it works
