Is there a EC05 ROM out there that is not OverClocked, has ad block, has CIQ removed, rooted, journaling on & has the keyboard fix? Bloatware removal isnt totally necessary but ideal... Havent seen anything, my phone doesnt seem to handle overclocking well.. Thanks for any info!
Roms aren't overclocked by default, Syndicate Rom Frozen has everything you are asking for, turning Journaling on is literally as easy as making a NAND backup and flashing it.
He is right. Viper rom fits your needs. Oc happens with the cpu apps. Stock flash will give you 1.0ghz cpu speed and no undervolt, but with a quick dl you can take it to a speedy 1.4ghz with battery sipping uv. Search viper rom synergy.

Can anyone point me in the right direction for an overclocked kernel without voodoo? I have not been able to find an overclocked kernel that doesn't have voodoo. All the kernels on rom manager don't seem to be overclocked, and the only overclocked kernels I've found in the development section are dirks oc with voodoo. I do not want voodoo.. tried it and it was a nightmare to remove and I kept have strange problems with my fascinate. Thanks in advance for any help given.

Geeknik has an OC kernel for you. I know this was from months ago.
http://www.totalnerdity.com/sf/
There is not a very high chance that you will find an OC kernel that is non-voodoo. The OTB kernels from nemesis2all are very good and very stable, though. They are voodoo, but they are voodoo5 with the built in Red CWM that allows you to flash stuff with voodoo activated, and it also makes it easier to turn voodoo on and off.
If you are really that shy about voodoo5, though, I don't think there are any OC kernels that aren't voodoo.

Set CPU is for use on Overclocked Kernels, not to overclock per se.
Geekin's 12/19/10 its in rom manager.

I haven't. I think I'll stick to JT's latest for a while. It seems to be the only voodoo5 with the latest sound improvements that supports my BT headset.
Hey guys,
I've lost track on all the roms out there. So I hope you guys could help me finding a fast and battery optimized rom.
I'm currently using Darky's ROM, which is kind of nice,
but uses to much battery for me (only have 1.5 days).
I don't care about any special feature... just speed, market showing all apps and long battery life. Anything else is a nice to have...
thanks for your help
Hi,
Ive tried them all, but get best battery on darkyy 5.5, with voodoo advanced 1.1 oc 1200 kernel.
Dont know why but it is awesome!

how often do you need to refresh your battery?
And what is special about this kernel?

lol! How can you get the best battery when you overclock!?
I'm now running JPY stock and I think you get the best battery life by using the stock kernel (no overclock, no other filesystem like ext4). It's plenty fast as well...

Theres a good post from curio on why this works, will try and dig it out. Essentially, less processor time is used for the same number of commands. (Oc doesnt mean your devices constantly runs at 1200 mhz tho)

Learn what voodoo is/does
Read read read...be confident about what you're doing before you flash... I've been running voodoo for a while with no problems... Be patient during the data transfer and remember once you flash voodoo only use the RED clockwork recovery...

I love the performance boost I see with voodoo, but it seems to come at the expense of battery. Not sure why this would be, but it seems to be the case.

I saw a battery hit when going to Stupidfast 1.54 (may have been due to enabling BLN, not sure) so I went back to 1112_test_novoodoo and stayed there. Am I the only one still using that kernel? Has everyone moved on to stupidfast/voodoo5 kernels? Other than the annoying MMS problem that I can't even say is the kernels fault, I am completely happy with the 1112_test_novoodoo kernel.

I tried them both and can say I have enjoyed my experience with Voodoo5 and the 12/16 kernel much more then stupidfast. It just seems to have the best battery life and speed compared to anything else out. Also I have yet to experience any bugs like I did with stupidfast w/google maps 5 navigation not working correctly.
I would try out the non-voodoo kernels first to see if they work for you. If you are still unsatisfied try out Voodoo 5.
With faux's smartass/minmax, etc kernel I will need go run set cpu correct? Im on my rooted stock sensd that ivd removed some of the bloat from.

to overclock, yes you would need to use setCPU. However, I am unsure whether the smartass governor would take effect whether or not you had setCPU to OC with.
Thanks! I'm new to this but figured it would make no sense to install the kernel with no way to actually OC. I like alot of the roms out but I'm happier with the stock setup the way I've modded it. Removed the bloat I know I'll never use, changed the boot ani, battery icon on status bar....etc. Short press google/long press Genius (the way it should be!)
This phone is amazing once rooted!

It sure is also, while setCPU is a paid app, its increased my speed and battery life several hours beyond that of the normal speeds with no profiles set for screen off or battery level. Well worth the buck, in my opinion.
btw, dont forget the thanks button
Hmmm all I get is boot screen locks or loops. With and with out cache/dalvik wipes. Is it a requirement to have set cpu installed prior to flashing this kernel?

I dunno if this'll help at all, but I'm on pretty much the exact same setup (rooted, stock, removed bloatware, changed battery in status bar, changed genius button to google search, etc.) and faux123's kernel loaded right up for me, I followed his instructions and came from grankin's kernel.
I have SetCPU but I only use it to OC it a bit, I have max to 1209, no profiles. I'm not sure how much it changes and helps, some days it's really good but today it's been unplugged for 3 hours and it's at 80% with a few texts, about 20 min of internet and 20 min on XDA app.

Ok I posted a few weeks back about my phone being a little laggy when I first started it up but it started becoming progressively worse even with closing all running apps in the settings>applications>running services thing cause I thought there might be a lot running but that didn't help.
So last night thinking a fresh start would help I reflashed the newest syndicate frozen rom and my phone is still being a little slower than I would want not to mention slower than everyone elses reviews. And on top of that my battery drain iis pretty bad (dropped like 20% in the last hour with moderate use).
So I was just wondering if there's any way to pinpoint what might be causing this (like certain apps running) or a way to try and correct it? Any help would be really appreciated.
Thanks

Not sure what it is but ill give my experience. A while ago I had the same issue. Turn out there was something wrong with the stock ec05 tar. I had a modified version and didn't know it. No matter what rom I flashed it didn't perform well. Also, I use my epic is my main form of internet use. Most roms and mods I dl str8 to my phone. Well, it also turns out that downloading roms str8 onto the sd card game me some errors. Probably because of some fault in the data. Redownload everything you need. When you odin back to ec05 format your sd card also. Should do the trick unless there's something wrong with your phone.

One thing that might help is if you have Titanium backup or Mybackup Root freeze DRM content and SNS services. Also are you running setcpu? If so try removing it to see if that helps. If it does then your setting are off and you need to tweak your settings. Do you have journaling enabled? Another thing what kernel are you using? I liked Vision kernel over Twilight some have also mentioned Genocide being good also. I am NOT saying Twilight is a bad kernel just it does give some people issues with certain setups.

Thanks for the response. I already had drm frozen, just froze sns (what does that do?), so we'll see how that helps. I also uninstalled setcpu to see if theres any improvement there.
Im running twilight kernel, maybe if the problems persist ill have to try out another one. With kernels all I do is flash? Will any info be lost or wil I have to wipe etc? Or just flash and your good to go?
Thanks again

I think I got the tar file straight from either the acs thread or tge midNIGHT rom thread, cant remember but it should be good I hope. It may come to this but im really hoping it doesn't, I already reformatted my sd card months back and its kind of a pain :/ but thanks for the help, this will be my last resort if all else fails.

In the development section in the sticky about bringing ur phone back from bricked. Look at my post. (Its the last few) use that eb13 to odin. That one always works 100%.
Also, don't use twilight 1.1 that came with srf. I've tested it and it has several issue's. Use genocide. (Genocide 1.1 was posted on pages 195-199 I believe)

Isnt the new syndicate based on ec05?
I'm definitely going to check into using the genocide kernel. I'm not quite sure I fully understand what a kernel does and what the differences would be to change so much? Do I have to clear data before flashing it?

It is ec05 based, they're saying to odin to eb13, then update to ec05 instead of odin straight to ec05.

Just flash the kernel no need for wipe. Just make sure you nan first.
Thanks everyone! I just rewiped and reflashed the SFR 1.1.1 again and it seems to be working fine so far.
I haven't installed all the apps I had before and don't plan on it because I have all I need on it now and it could have been an unnecessary app causing problems or just a bad wipe but either way so far so good.
Ill post back if theres any issues in the next few days. Thanks again.

Flash the genocide kernel 1.1.
"The greatest respect you can earn is self respect" Louie Simmons
Ok so I reflashed and it was working perfectly, buttery smooth no lag nothing. I was completely happy. I charged my phone and used it until about 10% turned it off and replaced the battery with a 100% charged one I have as a backup.
Once I turned it on it began lagging again, as well as draining the battery quicker than before and on top of that it did an old problem I had that I didn't mention before which when you turn off the screen it turns back on showing the lock screen then goes off after about 5 seconds.
I have no idea what it could be and why it magically came bac after a shut down/reboot :/
Also if I switch to the genocide kernel do I have t reinstall all my apps again or does it just flash and keep all info? Do I have to wipe data/cache?
Thanks again
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA Premium App
You have to wipe cache and dalvik, then flash Genocide. It will retain all data.
Have a nice day.
