Help please. Rooted a DX and installed Fission rom. Everything was perfect until late last night the user of the phone installed an alarm app that killed the headset speaker and mic on phone calls. Cant hear on calls or sound.
I returned to stock and unrooted/removed clockworkmod. Did a factory reset and still can't hear on calls or be heard.
Whats the possible problem? I did a D2 the same day and same rom and its working fine.

Ok I'm not an idiot, but humor me. I did everything I need to to root my phone to 4.5.602. Im happy with it and actually have some positives (Swype doesnt crash anymore compared to 596)
The one big issue I do have is that whenever I am running a streaming app, i.e. Sirius Xm or Pandora, the volume from the headphone jack is super low. But here is the kicker, if I make a phone call using the speakerphone, after i finish with the phone call the volume is fine, until i get some sort of notification, i.e. a new email or the battery is full. Also to note the alert that makes the streaming headset volume low again is not audible.
In the past to fix this I have edited the build.prop file to have media.stagefright.enable-player=false
and I did this to the new build.prop file when I upgraded to 602. (the value wasnt there as a note) This did not work. This is getting really annoying and would appreciate any help.
I just updated to 4.5.602 all of my sounds are fine I was reading somewhere that if u were rooted .596 to rooted. 602 there are fine bugs it said to fix go stock gb.602 u will lose root google DROID x root 4.5.602 there should be a computer option for one click root its what I used

So I can sbf back to froyo upgrade to 602, and use the one click option, that is fantastic.I'll have to try that and see if my problem fixes itself
Ok you guys are going to think I'm an idiot. I found the reason. When i Rooted to 602 i ran Titanium Backup which happened to install 2 volume boosters. They must have been competing and caused my issue.
On a side note, the One Click Root, how do you unroot it just in case I need to replace the ohone and I have a smart rep, (warranty and all)

I'm not sure what that one click program even looks like...
There may be an ability to unroot.
Read up on this as well...it probably works on the X.

And if need be, a .602 sbf is available now as well.

Thanks for the SBF link, but it sometimes wont load the sbf, i will test, but I had a lot of issues sbfing to 458 to install the rooted 602.
Hey guys and girls,
I own a HTC Desire Z, which works pretty well (at least the SMS application doesn't lock up like on my Donut-powered Magic), except when I make a call, the person on the other end doesn't hear me, unless I'm shouting directly into the microphone.
I originally thought it was the microphone, but the same thing happened with a wired headset. I've tried wiping the data and calibrating the microphone, but it fix the problem
One of my friends got it working properly last night by muting and unmuting the handset, but it stopped working after about 12 hours, and the muting/unmuting trick didn't work.
Unfortunately, my warranty has expired, and would be void anyway, because I replaced the front panel a few months ago.
Does anyone know what the problem is, or even better, how to fix it?
Thank you.
Can anyone help?
Try flashing a different Rom?

I tried it with CM7, but it didn't do anything at all.
Hi guys,
My N7 wifi only 16GB got problem with no sound on right handside headphone. I tried with several headphone and still no sound. So I formatted, data reset, clean install stock rom and still no luck. I'm attending to go service center tomorrow but I tried unofficial cm10.1 today and both left and right headphones are working again. Has anyone face that kind of problem and how to solve it. I appreciate every reply and advice.
Thanks!!!
I had the very same issue, I was running stock rooted 4.1.2 on my grouper and one day there was no sound in one headphone, external speaker worked fine just the headphone was weird. I called Asus and they said I would need to send it in for replacement. So i flashed factory images and unrooted and Boom! Everything worked again. That was like a month and a half ago and I haven't had any problems since. Not sure what caused it (sorry for that) but its gone now.

working again
Thanks for the reply.
Last night I decided to go service center. So I flash back factory image, unroot and relock the bootloader this morning. Then everything working back. Now I unlocked, rooted and check again and everything is fine. Don't know what is the problem. At least I don't need to go service center now. Hope the problem is solved like yours. Thanks.

I have a similar problem but I don't know how to do what you both did.
My Nexus 7 is not rooted or anything. Three days ago I installed Blackmart Alpha and installed 2 applications with it, and everything was ok. The next day everything was still ok, without any sound problems. Last night, I tried listening to a song and it only produced sound on the right side. I tried different headphones but it was the same. I have read many threads so far on a few forums and this is the only one in which you have seemed to manage the problem (other ones were just to push the jack harder, that's not my case).
So far I have already tried doing a factory reset, but it still have the same problem. Any help?

Now I've found a way and I uses it everytime the right handside sound gone. Plug in your headphone and play a song with maximun volume for a few second. Then the right handside sound will come back Sometimes it needs to play around like unplug and plug again. Good luck buddy!!!
Ok I'm not a complete newb but I can't figure this out and its been driving me nuts for over a week now...
SGH-1337M (Rogers)
Up until last week I'd been running the nightly builds of CyanogenMod and loving it, the phone was fast had lots of functionality then I did a nightly upgrade and my phone stopped working. Incoming calls would ring but when I picked up the call I couldn't hear the caller and they couldn't hear me. After much frustration I ended up flashing back to stock. This fixed the problem but the phone was useless as far as I was concerned for everything but making phone calls. It was laggy, I couldn't listen to music (it was staticy) and just generally full of all of the extraneous crud that Rogers seemed to think I should have on my phone. (I honestly couldn't suggest the phone to anyone who was going to run it as a stock device if this was how it came out of the box!)
Now On Sunday I decided to try again and after setting everything back to defaults I reloaded Cyanogen and at first it seemed that things were working properly... until last night. Again I got a call and when I answered it there was no audio.
I can't figure it out, I'm running the correct radio now after flashing to stock (I337MVLUAMG1) but I just can't seem to get it to work and stay working. Besides Cyanogen I'm only running two other "root" apps Fantastic audio installer and AdAway.
Any suggestions would be great, I just can't go back to stock on this phone...
Any ideas?
I think I have the problem figured out...
Seems like it was a combination of a bad build of CM and the "Fantastic Audio Installer"
Beware of compatibility issues with apps like this...
I recently updated my xt575 with the September security patch. Since then my microphone doesn't work only when making a phone call on speakerphone. Normal phone calls, audio and video recording, and voice commands all work just fine. I have tried booting into safe mode with no success, and then did a full factory reset and held off on downloading anything before trying again, still with no success. Is anyone else having this issue? Does anyone know of a fix or workaround for this before I try contacting Motorola? Thanks.
P.s. I am on stock ROM on Att network. I use Android pay a lot so would like to avoid rooting.

Same man. It's weird too. It will fix itself after a couple days - or at least mine did

Odd... I am on AT&T, for the moment at least, and use my speakerphone all the time, never had an issue before or after the update.
Try clearing your cache partition maybe?
Same problem
Hello. I'm trying to solve my Moto's mic for over a week now.
I was trying many ROMs, but ended up using TruePureXMM ROM along with franken kernel.
It was all working fine, except some overall phone lag and constantly trying out other kernel auditor settings...
...untill about 2 weeks ago. Phone's microUSB port got damaged, and I had to return my phone to repair service.
After I received it back, I wanted to try out some Nougat ROMs, and tried couple of them, but found out that the mic isn't working properly there.
Decided to return back to stock, using this forums tutorials, done it without any single errors or problems in the process, I did many devices roms changes before.
It didn't help at all. The receiver don't hear me at all, the only sound they can hear is when I blow into the mic's direction.
*Note that when I change to speaker mode, the receiver hear me with some breaks in between, but it's the only way to call from now on...
I'm confused now, completely no idea if it is really the OS problem, or if it's just something with the microphone itself.
Looking forward for any tips, thanks for help.

I hope so. It's been a few weeks already... If it doesn't fix itself then hopefully the nougat update will help.

I have tried that too. Nothing send to help and I've been searching online for a while for a solution with no results. I don't think being Att has any relevance but figured I'd share that anyways just in case.

Also on att with September security update and speaker phone works fine.
