It allows you to flash different themes.
Thank you very much for this!

Thanks Bro. One quick question and ill leave yall alone. Do I need to wipe data/cache/dalvik cache to install themes ?

I choose not to keep it in the same thread because it does change the files & if there is a small bug in this that someone reports it takes away the confusion of which one it may be in (easier for me)

Nope, wiping data will remove the ROM as well so you'll end up with a phone that won't boot.
When you flash a ROM -> Wipe Data/Cache/Dalvik
When you flash a THEME -> Wipe nothing
When you flash a kernel -> Wipe Dalvik and optionally battery stats
Before you flash ANYTHING -> Backup!

It's what I figured.
Thanks for putting this together. I kind of need a break from being on the cutting edge of ROMs so a nice stock debloaded ROM will be perfect for awhile.

A cache/dalvik wipe might help but you don't need to wipe data.

Wiping data won't wipe the rom.. It only wipes your data
Wiping system would wipe the rom

Wiping data means wiping data... You can do a data wipe or data factory reset anytime you please and YOU WILL NOT end up with a phone that doesn't boot you will end up with a phone that has no data meaning anything you previously downloaded ex apps from that market themes from the market any text messages that may be in your phone will all be gone.. In your phone if you unpack a ROM any ROM it doesn't matter you have meta inf system and boot when you start downloading ish you creating data so if you used root explorer you can access the file system and find as soon as you open it a folder called data that is what's being wiped.. If you on the other hand useppd Clockwork and mounted the system and reformatted the system reformatted is a fancy way of saying delete and clean up lol... That's on a factory shipped ROM or custom.. So feel free to wipe data any time you please if your okay with losing apps and reinstalling them after or you can use Titanium backup and back all your apps up from one location... This reply was not to be a **** either this is just enlighting those who did not know and maybe had some doubts or concerns... Wiping cache or dalvik cache is not a bad thing either all though you don't have to wipe dalvik flashing a theme it's just a good habit to get in to.. Installing a new ROM always read the thread the OP or DEV explains stuff specifically for a reason and it's good to wipe all when switching to a new ROM unless your doing something like ibangedyourmomrom v1 and updating to ibangedyourmomrom v2 unless the dev specifically says this is a full wipe upgrade or the dev says it's not neccessary to do a full wipe!!! Well I hoped I helped some people out and at least 1 person has a better understanding!!! Alright I'm out, peace!!

Whoops.... Sorry Master you beat me to it!! lol

I love ibangedyourmomrom v2...so snappy on my phone!

Hmm, I get a FC every time I bring up the keyboard...
Did a full wipe before flashing.

Having some problems with this...gps not working...even after wiping (cache, data, dalvik) twice..kernel is still the custom kernel from my last Rom. Same thing with the odexed version.

Sorry about that! I never use the stock keyboard
Fixed it & attaching to OP now.
@Krisk, no idea about your GPS.. Mine works fine.
Only thing I could tell you to do is fix permissions

Did you cook a custom kernel into this..or is this supposed to be stock.?

Quick tip to speeding up your Nexus

Hi
Just wanted to share with you a little something I do that works for me.
Every time we wipe everything and flash a new ROM, the ROM flies. But a lot of us (not all of us) start noticing that after we start changing settings, installing apps, uninstalling apps, and so on, a little sluggishness can occur, as can obviously be expected. One thing I persoanlly do, is after I install all my programs back onto the phone, is go back into recovery, wipe my Dalvik and cache, (I use morfic's dalvik wiper, thanks to him for that):
https://dl-web.dropbox.com/get/dalvik-wiper-1.zip?w=259589c0
and simply re-install my ROM, without a factory data reset.
I've tried just wiping the dalvik and cache and rebooting, but doesn't seem to do the same for some reason. Someone much more intelligent than I and more knowledgeable than I could provide that reason I'm sure
Just want to get some feedback if this seems to improve the usability of the ROM for other people as well after a crapload of installed apps. Post a post, let me know
Ciao!

Thanks Allgamer
I have read this thread in the past, however, finding a rogue app that slows phone/eats battery or managing the amount of apps Installed etc is not what I was aiming for. I found that reinstalling the ROM itself again AFTER such suggestions in your thread for example (which are great ideas, i use dropbox myself) really seems to help.

clearing my dalvik regularly helps keep my phone in tiptop performance. i wont even reflash the rom, just flash that dalvik-wiper.zip or delete the dalvik files manually with root explorer(then reboot immediately) when i have a spare minute.
titanium backup has that option to clean the dalvik cache
no need to do any fancy stuff to clear that

true, but yet not true. it does have an option to "clean" your dalvik, but it doesnt wipe your dalvik. when you actually wipe your dalvik, the system rebuilds it fresh when you boot up. heres a screenshot of titanium backups dalvik clean, lol. you can wipe your dalvik in recovery too, but clockwork recovery doesnt wipe all the files, twrp recovery wipes the dalvik though.

good point, yes that is true
i often have to end up manually deleting other system / apps left over junks as well, specially for stuff that was uninstalled already, but they leave dalvik stuff behind and on the sd card as well, inside android, and other similar places

The SD card junk is definitely a problem. I find that SD Maid works well if you use it properly.
I think that because as you say, there is junk left over in android after uninstalling programs , that a re-flash of the ROM helps clean some of it up while still keeping all of your apps you want untouched. Please correct me if I am wrong?

Hi, I tried to find this dalvik-cleaner.zip on my self but had no luck so far. Could s/o maybe tell me where to get it? Thanks in advance
Will that improve stability on the phone?, I mean cleaning the Dalvik?, will that help eliminating the random freezes while using BT? or games or the browser (all this is random probably once every 2 or 3 days)

You can find the zip in the first post here.......

ahhhhh...........gone todash..............
With issues like random reboots or freezes you should probably check into the kernel or rom you are using if others in those threads are having the same reboots/freezes while performing the same actions. Obviously never hurts to do the wipe though.

Make sure you have rooted phone and Gingerbread 2.3.4
Download this: http://www.multiupload.com/JGZE0DM8NU
And extract it on a folder.

These are the simple steps:
1. Copy those 3 files in your SD CARD
2. Turn off your phone
3. Reboot on recovery.
How? Press power button and home button until you see "SAMSUNG" Text.
Then you will have something like this:
Volume buttons for go UP & DOWN
Home button for select (click)
4. Click on apply sdcard:update.zip and select the file named "ClockWorkModAce.zip" (if you dont know where is that go to step 1)
5. Then some text will appear ... and after it finishes reboot your phone by clicking "reboot system now".
Then turn off your phone again and enter recovery AGAIN.
6. Select "Install ZIP from sdcard" and install the file named "cm-7.1.0-RC1-Cooper-KANG-Grif_07.zip"
7. When that finish,DON'T REBOOT,just install "cm-7.1.0-RC1-AllFixes-Grif_07.zip" and when that finishes you can reboot.
And that's all ! Now you have Cyanogen MOD 7.1 RC1 running on you Samsung Galaxy Ace without any problem.
I hope this works for you as for me.You also can hit THANKS button for me :$

So just to verify reboot to CWM wipe cache, wipe dalvik, full wipe, choose CM9 update zip and reboot.
I presume there is no need to format user data "SD card" partion??
Also has anyone tried Mybackup Root instead of titanium??

As far as I read, if you do full wipe, then flash it thru CMW, you won't have any problem. I'm not sure about it.
I just flashed from MC7 XRON over to CM9 alpha 0 via CWM and it's working perfectly fine.

Read instructions before ask silly questions!
This is the latest Jelly Bean Leak.
Lots of the users couldn't install the OTA, so here's the full version.
How to install:
Extract the zip in SDCard --> clockworkmod --> folder (for example JB) --> files here
Go to CWM --> Backup & Restore --> Restore from internal storage
The ROM is NOT rooted.
You should root it yourself.
Enjoy
MODEM XXDLH4: http://developer.clockworkmod.com/downloads/51/3572/radio-LH4-i9300-signed.zip (thanks to Cyanogenmod)
Please say thanks If this helped you!
Edit: I recommend you to wipe dalvik cache, battery stats & cache partition before you run the rom (for best smoothness and no FC)
Edit 2: If for some reason you can't find clockworkmod folder (to restore the backup), make a new backup and then replace the files from your backup with the files from the ZIP I provided.
Edit 3: MD5 checksum mismatch only happens when you try to install the whole zip file which is wrong! Extract like it's stated in the instructions.
Edit 4: I use some settings on stock that makes it faster for me:
- Disabling all animations in developer settings (or at least 0.5 to windows animation)
- Deleting all widgets from the homescreen
- Disable S Voice launch by homescreen and voice turnon (drain battery)
- Freezing/uninstalling all stock bloatware (with Root Uninstaller Pro) [AllShare, Google+, Yahoo News, Weather, Samsung Apps, Video Hub, Music Hub, etc etc]
- GPU rendering
490 MB Free RAM at final
Edit 5: You can restore this backup on every rom you want.

yup, working flawless.. do u have tried LH4 Modem??
So does this cut out flashing stock rom via odin etc? I usually just *2767*3855# to clean up then flash a rom in cwm.

Yes, you can flash it straight forward after wipe your old rom.
But if you have any EXT4 mods then you need to flash stock rom first.
So I don't get it.. what's the difference between DLH4 and BLH4

Thanx.

This one is full room LG8 + OTA updated to Jelly Bean XXDLH4, restored to factory settings, cleaned cache and packed as nandroid backup.
Lots of people had problems installing the OTA (including myself).
That's why I made it so people can enjoy it faster without spent nerves.

Because we added a lot of things in the various release (in italian)! We are working to a final version! But we think that it won't be very different from RC3!
The stk apk is working? Because I have a postemobile sim.
Grazie

Italian good Job
Hey , I have an idea !
Maybe u can remove the ICS-styled settings .
Then it can fully support multi-languages .
But the Status Bar in ICS-like will be better .
Just for some suggestions , hope your ROM can be better and better !!

yes I followed all instructions, dont know why it aborted, didnt format sd ext but then I need the stuff on there and not had to format this with other roms?
It just aborts the installation at the first load, which means I cant really wipe stuff after its installed?
I'll try again and let you know if successful.
