No. As you are not a Chinese, you don't know why HTC used the brand name Dopod. Taiwan goverment do not allow companies to enter the mainland market so all branches of Taiwan companies in the mainland have diffenent names, sounds like they don't have any relations with the companies in Taiwan. HTC, “宏达” in Chinese, created Dopod, “多普达” in Chinese, and CEO or other high officials of Dopod are directly assigned by HTC.

I am wondering if there are any differences between the htc hd2 & dopod hd2 other than then name. I know both are htc but are there any hardware or other differences between the 2?

where did you find Dopod HD2? I believe Dopod was renamed to HTC long before HD2 was manufactured.

Dopod and Htc are still 2 seperate companies however HTC has more than 50% shares in Dopod.The specs on the Dopod HD2(T8588) are the same as the Euro HTC HD2(T8585),The Htc HD2 came out in Nov09 were as the Dopod came out in April10

I have Desire HD with 2.3.3 and sense sense 2.1. The handset is by Virgin but i am using it in Pakistan. Just wanted to ask that since HTC is officially pushing the upgrade, would it be possible for me to get it by using Virgin bought set using in Pakistan on a a local cellular company?
