New Bell Atrix, Need some help. - Atrix 4G General

I have been reading through the posts and I am starting to go blind.
I have a Bell Atrix, and currently I cannot save APN's.
Do I just need to Root to fix this? If so, what is the best way to root?
Any links provided would be great!

Is your provider Bell or are you trying to use your Atrix on other network?

I use APN Backup & restore from the market. It worked on my Bell Atrix but I'm not sure if it was rooted first. Rooting isn't that hard if you need to do it.
Hope this helps.

If by your name your trying to use an unlocked Bell Atrix on mts, I couldn't get it to work, returned the phone.

Yes, my provider is MTS Mobility. The phone is from Bell.
The phone is rooted. I have tried APN back up and APN manager.
The funny thing is that i have put in the apn info a hundred times, and last night it saved once. I tried to edit, and it disappeared again.

is there a page with your apn settings you can direct me to? I will try to load it on my device and if it sticks I will send you the APN backup file so that you can restore it to your device.

Rooted Incredible but not working

Can someone help me with this.
I was able to root my incredible after two weeks of trying but it seems only half done. Let me explain.
when I reboot back to phone I have the SU app. I down loaded wifi tether, Titanium backup and Joicedefender. All need root.
Wifi tether says I have root but it can't start. Looking at the log it can't configure several options and thus it fails.
Juicedefender says I have root but it can't configure the APN's which need SU permissions to work.
Titanium Backup actually says right out it can't get root.
The su app has they apps in it from where they ask for permission and it shows the permission as granted.
So basically it looks like only half is working.
I also cinfigured the wifi for "N:" and I did that in "recovery" and it seems fine. It just looks like something isn't right once you reboot.
I've unrooted and done it several times a=but each time this is what I end up with.
Any ideas?
in titanium click problems and download a new busybox...see if that helps
It downloaded it on its own and yes that fixed ut
It looks like tje first 3 apps i tried are the only ones that
Gave me problems
Go figure. It all works great now
Thanks
hey i am going to be getting an incredible soon, and i am going to flash it to cricket. i've flashed other devices to cricket like the htc tp, and the tp2, but this will be the first time flashing an android phone. i understand it needs to be rooted so that the apps work and stuff, can you give me some info on how to root the droid? anything would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Phone permanently locked to AT&T and need help!

I stupidly wrote down the wrong sim unlock code given to me by ATT on my phone and I guess I entered the wrong code too many times. I called ATT tech support and they said that my phone is locked permanently ATT now.
Is there a fix around this or am I screwed?
Thx

As far as I know, you are SOL and is locked permanently to ATT, unless theres a way to unlock it via the service menu after a code has been inputted wrong.
Go to Cellunlocker.net and talk to someone in support about getting a code that unlocks your sim-locked status. It's not the code to unlock your phone, it's the code that resets the perma-lock state of the phone.
I guess i am SOL i called cell unlocker and they said they dint have the software to do it
Did you try the method listed for unlocking your phone from the service menus - without an unlock code?
I have not seen it explained, but it appears to me that by disabling the SHA256 network lock, you are basically getting rid of the requirement for the unlock code that is cryptographically dependent on the IMEI.
I did it on my AT&T phone and plopped in a T-mo sim and it worked fine:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2285431
I am not responsible for anything you may mess up though.

You might have one other option that I know of that might work, might not work, or might make things worse. It is the "Free unlock" menu method in the general section. I am assuming you haven't tried it already. Normally I tell people to stay clear of it because of the slim chance it could screw your phone up, but in your case, I'd say it's already screwed up.
Follow the directions and see if restoring your "Golden backup" (NV restore) resets the cell locks on your phone. You can also try thing like turning SHA256 "On", or "Off" and see if it makes a difference. The reason the free unlock method works for some and not others all depends on what info resides in your phones NV backup. For some, it restores full phone functionality without network locks (sim unlocked), for others, it restores exactly what is already on the phone's NV memory (still network locked), and for others, it restores a backup that screws the phone up. There is a slim possibility that if you restore the NV data via the hidden menu, you might restore your phones original sim locked state and then be able to use the code with SHA256ON or maybe Off.
The risk you take if you try it is completely yours.
It might help, it might not help, or it could make it worse. Good luck.
Would flashing back to stock rom work? I am still fairly new with android devices coming from iphones so i dont want to mess with it if it has absolutely no chance of working. The phone is still working fine just can't unlock it.
Thx for the suggestions tho

Flashing back to stock is not going to cure your problem. You're kind of hosed at this point. Scott's suggestion is probably your best bet, BUT you could end up with no phone working at all. If you can still get phone service I'd leave it as is and give up ever unlocking.

TO ANYONE WHO IS FOLLOWING THIS THREAD, PLEASE DON'T DO ANY THING TO YOUR PHONE BECAUSE YOU THINK IT MAY BE COOL. Really know what your doing and why before you do try it. You can really mess up your phone. There a lot of good info in this forum, use it. And take your time, read, study, and read some more.

I wasn't able to unlock my AT&T GS4 via the service menu methods, nor with an unlock code I bought online. I was finally able to unlock it via the USB program at FastGSM. It seemed kind of shady but it worked for me...

Help no data

I have a rooted s4 and I am able to edit prls, after I updated to mf9 I am unable to change prls through the update prl feature on my phome I have to do it manually by inserting the prl and updating my phone.
So I talked to sprint about my phone being really slow and they messed it up I did the #873283# and now I don't get internet at all
It keeps saying I need to activate my service and goes to hands free activation and it is unable to .., so now I am completely internet less
What can I do???
I have tried manually changing the prls but since I can't activate my service nothing happens and I still have no data

I see your sig with a whole lot of mods. I suspect it's your prl tweaking that my have boinked it. Not the hotspot mod - that's worked on every ROM i've used it on without issue.
Why not try this.
rwilco12 has a full one-click return to stock here.
This will take you back to bone stock.
Activate then use CF Autoroot to get root and then work your way back up to whatever mods you want.

This is a full wipe of everything and will put you back to stock unrooted MF9. Kernel, ROM, Modem and of course stock recovery. It will be as if you just walked out of the store with the phone.

can you now try to update your PRL and Profile? You might want to try it in an area that has good reception.
I have a crap load of problems activating my S4 in my place - I live and a ground/basement unit in a very forrested area. I had to step out to a field, activate, update PRL and Profile and then all was good.

I noticed that I was unable to update my prl and profile (on wifi or 3g) after I updated to mf9 and rooted (about 3 months ago) before that all the mods were working great... after I updated and added the mods (I added the mods right after updating so I am not sure if it was occurring before the mods) so this has been something that has been going on for awhile.... but yesterday I contacted sprint about having very slow data and they made me unactivate my data ....and now no matter what it won't activate which means I have no data at all.....
I just did a hard reset it still goes to hands free activation automatically then fails... I tried to update prl and nothing through wifi and without... I am not sure what else to do...

yes thank you for your help....I will be going in tomorrow.... at least it is unrooted and I did a factory reset so they can't say "the rooting caused the problem" and not help me... what sucks is I don't have insurance on it... since it is an activation error/mishap hopefully they will be able to get it rectified ... from experience though sprint reps usually don't know much about fixing phones..
One thing occured to me.
Do you have a D-link router?
If so, check this out.

To root just use the CF-Autoroot method - dead simple and only roots the phone.
From there you can add a custom recovery by downloading goomanager and installing then installing the recovery. IF you want to.

Yea I love cf root ... Yea I am probably going to stay unrooted then just add the hotspot later since I'm guessing the prl enabler changed things on my phone
(Edit - wrong phone)
It's possible you hosed the NV data. I forgot to see if this has a carrier partition like the N2 but it sounds similar to that situation.
Either way swapping it out was probably easiest.

Noob here, would like some help rooting gs6 edge+ for hotspot

Hey guys, I'm not root savy. So I'm scared I'll brick it up rooting. My stupid phone updated last night to 6.0.1 before then my hotspot worked great, I use foxfi pdanet on sprint with unlimited data. When I went back the apn settings were greyed out of course. So If I get my rooted can I flash it to were I can get back to my apn settings to change them?
I had the same problem. You need to root then phone then delete the telephony.db file from data/data/com.android.providers.telephony/databases/telephony.db
Add the APN manually and reboot the phone.
You may also need to check "hide tether usage" in foxfi
Ok, how do you add the apn manually? I've rooted my note 3 years ago, so I know I can do it, just don't want to brick my only phone.

If you go to Settings - mobile networks - access point names you'll see "add" in the top right. Just add the settings for your network. Once you've added the settings just save and then select it in the access point names screen. It will lose data while it switches over and takes about 10 seconds to do, then your data will return again and you can use foxfi.
Rooting the phone is simple, I just flashed the chainfire's already rooted kernel with odin.
Did you flash a recovery? And if you don't mind can post a link to it please?

I use TWRP recovery.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/s6-...ecovery-official-twrp-galaxy-s6-edge-t3354492
As soon as you are sure your phone boots I recommend doing a backup in TWRP recovery so if anything goes wrong you can go back nice and easy. Also grab wanam's efs backup and back up your efs. This is very important if you intend to flash mods and roms because losing or corrupting the efs is very bad and a real pain to fix.

i am more than willing to give you an assist if you still desire, but you will have to clarify exactly what you did. If English is not your first language, accept my apologies, but I cannot understand you.
flashing a different ROM/carrier unlock/hidden menu stuff are all differing subjects, with differing routes to completion.

yes i am still looking for a solution, i would appreciate your help
what i did is that i bought a service on eBay, he emailed me an apk called Quick_Fix.apk ( to show the hidden menu ) and these are the instructions
Look for the HiddenMenuCall app on your phone and open it, then scroll and select the following menus & sub menus within:
1-IOT(CDG2).
2-LTE setting
3-Operation Mode.
4-Lab Network (V20 will now restart)
Then Turn Off - Insert SIM card and restart and it will be unlocked
that is all i did, and it was supposed to work but it didn't on mine
I see. So you are trying to pull up a hidden menu on your v20?
What setting are you trying to alter? Wireless tethering? Are you rooted (I am going to take a stab here and say no, you arent)?
Are you trying to carrier unlock your phone? I'm just trying to figure out what you are trying to accomplish?

Unless you've taken the 'zv6' update, follow the rooting\dirty santa post.
Flash ROM for desired carrier.
Disco.
Caveat: depending on your technical skill abilities, you've a chance of rendering your phone permanently useless. Be forewarned.
