Can someone help me with this.
I was able to root my incredible after two weeks of trying but it seems only half done. Let me explain.
when I reboot back to phone I have the SU app. I down loaded wifi tether, Titanium backup and Joicedefender. All need root.
Wifi tether says I have root but it can't start. Looking at the log it can't configure several options and thus it fails.
Juicedefender says I have root but it can't configure the APN's which need SU permissions to work.
Titanium Backup actually says right out it can't get root.
The su app has they apps in it from where they ask for permission and it shows the permission as granted.
So basically it looks like only half is working.
I also cinfigured the wifi for "N:" and I did that in "recovery" and it seems fine. It just looks like something isn't right once you reboot.
I've unrooted and done it several times a=but each time this is what I end up with.
Any ideas?
in titanium click problems and download a new busybox...see if that helps
It downloaded it on its own and yes that fixed ut
It looks like tje first 3 apps i tried are the only ones that
Gave me problems
Go figure. It all works great now
Thanks
hey i am going to be getting an incredible soon, and i am going to flash it to cricket. i've flashed other devices to cricket like the htc tp, and the tp2, but this will be the first time flashing an android phone. i understand it needs to be rooted so that the apps work and stuff, can you give me some info on how to root the droid? anything would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

No NAND unlock yet, but now we don't need to fiddle with SD cards and curse at the phone/wall/ceiling for hours while trying to get root on the stubborn Incredibles. Thank you so much Unrevoked!
unrevoked 3
How do I use unrevoked 3? Does it let you tether? I need step by step instructions. It's not like the first one that you do thru the phone so I'm clueless. Help someone.
its easy just download it and extract... find the html file and intall the drivers from it then run the EXE and it does everything
I spent a lot of time on this rooting thing and eventually gave up. And then I saw the recent message regarding the release of Unrevoked v3.0. I installed it and it worked perfectly! I am grateful to finally have root! I would like to thank you guys so much for your time and effort !
How???
how do you find and install the html file??
Edit: never mind i got it
unrevoked 3
yojoe600,
your explanation was too short. where is the html? can you break it down for me like i'm 6...lol. the last root was for dummies this seems complicated. do i use my computer with my evo hooked to it to do this root?

Thread moved to General.
Just read their tweet gobto their website and download their program(if u go read their tweet it will direct u to their website and download the easy root for your OS) make sure that there are no programs interfering with your usb port.) Good luck its really easy.

I was in the middle of unrevoked 3 and it said on on my computer waiting for hboot. I also couldn't find the hboot option on my phone recovery menus. What should I do ?

I just used this for my Droid Incredible on Mac OS... worked very very easily, with no hassle whatsoever. Thumbs up to unrevoked.
4G Speeds in EVO Still Available Under Unrevoked3?
Does the root that's provided through Unrevoked3 impact the 4G connectivity on the Evo? I know that was an issue with other root methods.
Also, is there a way to safely revert back to a 'stock' build (i.e., non-root) in case there are unforeseen issues with Unrevoked3? Thanks, folks!
Wifi Tether
I just used the Unrevoked3 root/reflash it worked great! 30 seconds had the phone done!..I did a nandroid backup and downloaded Titanium Backup, Titanium works great also! now, I download Wireless Tether from the market, installed and ran the app, it asked for su permission and was granted, the app was running, I turned wifi "on" on the laptop and it found AndroidTether ssid, i connected, all I get is a full signal with an yellow exclamation, no internet access! what am I doing wrong? I am using windows 7 Ultimate version.
You need a different kernel to run the app "wifi tether". You can get a custom kernel by downloading a rom like Sky Raider.
Got it working..., thank you!

What did you do? I'm having the same issue.
Can't get Unrevoked 3 to work
I get beyond installing the driver and I get to a recovery screen but....an Adobe Flash window pops up on the computer indicating the script is running slow do I want to stop and I say no. About this time, Unrevoked shoots a message that it has stopped communicating with the phone and I should start over.
Although this is a great method, it would be great if someone would list the steps that this process is using so that maybe from where I lost communications, I can just finish. Or tell me what to do to get the Flash error message to stop coming up.
Thanks for any help!
I've read over the forums quite a few times and am stumped. For some reason i cannot get rooted again after SBF flashing to 2.1. I've used the one click root program and while it says the root was successful, i go into adfree, titanium backup, and wifi tether and all tell me that i am not rooted. Super permissions doesn't seem to work either.
I've flashed my phone six times and have had the same results, so i was wondering if anyone else had this problem or could help me out. I just want to root and get back to 2.2 again, but i don't see why I'm having such difficulties when I've had success before in the past. I'm trying to give all the information i can, but there isn't really much to it. I followed all the steps in the HOW TO downgrade 2.2 to 2.1 link in this very forum.
If anyone can help me or tell me whats going on, I'd be in their debt forever.

Six times? Did you try the 7th????
http://alldroid.org/Default.aspx?tabid=40&g=posts&m=5164#5164
But anyways...did you try to root in manually instead of doing it with one click?
Ok the seventh time was in fact the charm. I just upgraded to 2.2 without root and then SBF flashed to 2.1 again and now when i root, it actually takes and adfree tells me im rooted and super permissions kicks in. I could just not figure out what was going on because it didn't make any sense. It still doesn't, but hey problem solved so i'm not gonna speculate. Anyways thanks for the time.
hi. i updated my phone to 2.3.4 (sys 4.5.91 us) and i cannot get my root back. im pretty new to root but i do not want anything but root. not unlock, not new rom, not anything except root.
i had the latest version of Android and used Gingerbreak and i was extremely happy as it was so easy for me to do. i had root and that's all i wanted. but now... i updated to 2.3.4 and i did not unroot before this (maybe this is my problem) but my phone is fine, everything runs great. but i cannot root it. i used this walk-through http://www.atrixforums.com/forum/motorola-atrix-hacks/4414-how-root-motorola-atrix-all-versions-including-stock-locked-2-3-4-a.html and finished it all. everything went through and i still don't have root.
i have done it 3 times now and successfully competed the steps. i still have no root. can someone direct me or walk me through another way of rooting or by chance giving me advice on what to do so i can get root? im not a scientist and i know it doesn't take one...but all i know is i just cant get my phone rooted and want it rooted badly.
someone please help me. i searched all over the forums and keep finding the steps i followed and then also found unlock steps(something i do not want to do)
all i want is root. please keep that in mind.

I used this method on my OTA gingerbread.
At first, it gave me errors and pretty much wouldn't work past command line, but in reality, Superuser was installed and I was able to launch it.
Do you have Superuser in your app drawer?
yes i do have super user. and i am able to launch it. but it does not unlock anything.
i got no errors. i did everything correctly and still i dont have root access. maybe im missing something?? i try to run Titanium backup and it said no root access. said the same thing with Root explorer.
superuser runs... but it doesnt have anything unlocked. i try to update superuser and it wont let me.

hmm, you can try going to manage apps and clearing superuser's data, and then maybe attempt the process again.
I had to clear data to get superuser to do anything at all when I rooted.
i read that before i attempted it the third time. i cleared data then completed the steps and still... my superuser runs but apparently i do not have root access.
superuser does not ask if i want to allow for root access for any programs like TB or Root Explorer as it should.

and i meant that i had read about that before attempting the entire process for the third time. i read on another post that someone had it installed already and had to clear the data so... i did that before my third attempt.
still no root!

Greetings everyone, it is now 5:23AM here and I am completely stuck as to why my Galaxy Tab (GT-p1000T Telstra, Australia) doesn't want to root itself this time.
The story is: I had my tab rooted on 2.3 using the method involving Odin (addictivetips.com/mobile/how-to-root-samsung-galaxy-tab-on-android-2-3-3-gingerbread). It worked fine.
Problem: I am going abroad and will not have data. I order to have a clean phone and delete any data consuming app, I just decided to factory reset. I did that using OCW. I followed the same steps as above to root my phone. No error is mentioned anywhere. Odin declares the operation to be a success, except... when I reach the phone, Superuser isn't installed and every root-requiring app is telling me that my phone needs to be rooted. I can still see the icons for OCW and OCW Tweaks but both of them are asking for a rooted device.
What did I miss? I get the feeling like it is OrangeClockWork which is preventing me from rooting.
Can anyone help me? I greatly appreciate any attention

Install the following Apps from Market:
Superuser from Chainfire (free)
Reboot, and see if you can get superuser access on titanium backup.

I tried this but still no good. It seems like the tab didn't even get rooted. Root Tester tells me it isn't although Odin appears to have done its work. It seems like something is preventing the file from being transfered.
Well thanks for your help. Slept over it and decided to install overcome.
Except I didn't go all the way. I just used the stock JQ1 gingerbread firmware (which is better than Telstra's btw) and tried to apply the root from here.
It worked.
Thanks for your attention anyway !
Ok people, this is not my first post, although it says it is. I used to be on here and a few other sites as ldawg214. I've done some things but alas I quit for awhile and can't remember my old password (so if any mods can help me there that would be cool.) But the reason for this post is that I'm trying to get a custom rom on my mytouch 4g with 2.3.4 Gingerbread. I know I need to downgrade to froyo using adb but the files fre3vo and misc_version_01 are just blank data files. I don't know if they are supposed to be like that but everything I've searched for on this is at least 3 years old. I've gone ahead and tried adb but it always just tells me the the file or directory doesn't exist. Does anyone know if this method still works?

Starting to feel like this is impossible and I know what I'm doing lol.

Haven't rooted a glacier in a while. But I'll try to help you. Here's a link to the rooting process. I've always used gfree. If you need any files let me know and I'll upload them.

Thank you so much but it turns out I was just missing a few steps (as usual) lol. So I am now perm rooted with s=off. I think that's all I have to do and now I can flash a custom rom. That's what I'm on my way to do now. Thank you again.

Okay, I think this can be deleted. I've got s off and installed sabsa_prime and so far it's working great. If anyone sees this though, after all that root checker basic says that the phone doesn't have root access.........WHAT??? How is that possible?
