[Q] Best version of Froyo rom for Galaxy3? - Galaxy 3 General

Hello,
recently i've bought a Samsung I5800 galaxy 3 ,and updated the phone through KIES to the latest version of Froyo. Yesterday i downloaded and installed a custom rom called InDroid 3.0 Stock LagFixed which is great. But now i was wondering if i could return to my original rom(the official one so that i could update it in KIES to the latest firmware should one appear in the near future).
When i connected my phone in KIES it shows me that it cannot upgrade my firmware becouse it doesn't recognize it.
I am from Romania so i would like a rom that also has romanian language on it or one that is the best and fast.
I have downloaded this rom I5800XWJPF ,is it ok for me if i flash it whit Odin?

UK i9000 from darky 7.0 to stock

Hi
i have recently purchased an i9000 from the UK it came loaded with Darky's Rom 7.0.
I would like to use it in canada with a stock firmware. How can i restore it to stock firmware so i can also update the phone via kies to the latest stock firmware ?
which firmware should i use and what is exactly procedure ? can i use I9000XXJVK 2.3.3 can i root it ?
Currently kies is telling it cannot update the firmware.
Kies can only update legitimate firmware .
Gingerbread 2.3 is not yet released .
The phones product code is tied to the firmware update so O2UK phone gets O2 UK update not Canada update .
As its for non Europe i would be installing a stock rom for that area from samsungfirmwares .com as you require a modem to work in Canada .
North American threads on the forum may help if any .
Alternative would be to use Kies Registry Spoofing and spoof a clean phone to a Canada provider firmware .

Thanks for the reply
So there is no way i can restore the phone to legitimate firmware? I dont mind to restore it to legitimate uk firmware. The samfirmware website list the latest 2.3.3 already.
If i cannot restore it to a legitimate firmware how can i get back to a stock firmware from darky 7.0?
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
Legitimate firmware that came with the phone can be restored if you saved it .
Flash stock from samsungfirmware through Odin pit 512 and repartition checked .
2.3.3 has not yet been released by Samsung so do not install .

No i didnt saved it. I got the i9000 with darkys 7.0 version. Will go to stock firmware no other option. Darkys custom rom drains to much battery tried all the 10000 suggestions.
Thanks m8 for ur help.

Btw why should i not install the 2.3.3 version. I had it already installed. Any trouble ?

Odin flash a stock rom with appropriate modem.. root with a kernal of your choice.. im pretty sure you can change the product code.. search for it on xda..
Before flashing.. make sure all lagfixes are disabled if any..
All the best

[Q] XXJG7 Firmware

Hi Guys,
Ive searched the forum, to no avail...
I would like to flash my Apollo with FroYo, but for safety's sake im trying to find a copy of my original firmware so I can flash it back and use KIES if needed.
If I type in *#1234# I get:
PDA I5800XXJG7
Phone I5800XXJG3
CSC I5800XXJG5
Does any kind person have the relevant files handy for upload please?
Also, If I flash a new firmware should they all match the original (ie the I5800XX part).
Thanks for your help
I posted the same question a week ago. I didn't get a straight answer. I had the same firmware before i flashed to XXJPM. Your firmware is XXJG7, but I didn't find it on samfirmware. I found XWJG7, but I think that is not the same, because there is xxjpf and xwjpf - the first one being older. To update via kies when the official update comes u need an official firmware, XXJG7 is official since u got it with your phone, but u cant find it, can you? So you need any official firmware, but i don't know witch are official except XXJG7... Anyway don't bother with this, you can flash froyo without backup, i did it and nothing went wrong but be cautius and folow the steps closly and when the official update comes it will be avaliable to flash via odin. until then flash any non official froyo
I have this rom and am uploading it now its I5800XXJG3 - csc xxjg5 - phone xxjg5 - pda xxjg7 will post a link soon
here you go
megaupload.com/?d=OYHZW0WX
Thanks
I see the numbers are slightly different, does it matter?
I have also read that flashing the bootloader can cause hard-brick issues, is it better not to flash the bootloader?
i did not flash the bootloader just to be on the safe side, not sure what the cl447760 & cl460190 mean all i tell you is kies see's this as the latest firmware for my phone the uk .
i got the phone three weeks aga at the carphone warehouse it is unbranded and unlocked
Thanks again for your help. I have now upgraded mine to the standard XXJPM FroYo with ODIN. Just out of interest, is there a way I could have got the old firmware off my phone into files like you uploaded?
i think you can dd them to the sd card but not sure how to do it , i googled for ages to find my that firmware on some random site because i did not like froyo after i flashed it
ive gone back to 2.1 until i can find a fix for icons not staying on the home screen from apps installed on the sd card after a reboot. other than that i was pleased with it.

[Q] Upgrade from Eclair to Froyo - is it safe?

So, my wife has Eclair on her T-mobile branded phone. Is it safe to upgrade to Froyo via Odin since mobile is branded?
I have Galaxy S and I am familiar with upgrading and custom ROMs via Odin, I just want to know is it simple to upgrade it via Odin as on mine Galaxy S? I will download the latest Froyo from samfirmware page.
Or should I somehow debrand my wife's phone before upgrade?
Thanks.
No problem to flash it via Odin, branded/unbranded doesn't matter.
You can even choose between branded and unbranded ROMs if you want.^^
If you still need information about Odin (in combination with the SG3) you can find everything in the development-section.
Thank you for your answer. Regarding Odin it is pretty much clear. Similar as for mine Galaxy S but with different files and different Odin version.
It's save...
But becarefull, because the latest rom from samfimware it has boot.img problem. it will cause your phone "hard brick"
Just see it in developer selection for save flash rom
Flash a firmware from here (for safe flash): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1063940

Damn kies problem

Hi everyone,
I used custom roms for a long time and after that i decided to upgrade original samsung rom via kies. so i downloaded turkish rom from samfirmware.com and now i connect to kies and it says this device is not official samsung device and doesnt upgrade my samsung in the past there was method called spoof kies however it doesnt work with latest kies?
so how can i upgrade the official rom?
You should change your CSC code to Turkish CSC.
I second SiSL and if that doesn't work go to an older FW and then try it (check csc again as well)

both method doesnt work with any official roms
So you have downgraded to froyo and tried, or GB 2.3 ????
If you haven't yet tried froyo or eclair and intend to, don't forget that you may not have download mode or recovery

well, when i bought my phone from seller it had original 2.2.1 rom installed and after that i upgraded to 2.3 official rom using kies. after i used 2 months i wanted to try custom roms and i installed official 2.2.1 rom from samfirmware.com so that i can have 2.3 original rom back. at this point i have problem because kies says, "hey dude this rom is not an official samsung rom so you cant upgrade your phone" i tried many roms from that website and none of them is not working.
What I mean by changing CSC is not oding flashing the Turkish CSC...
You have to change CSC using *#272*IMEI CODE#
You can find your IMEI code from Phone Info menu...

Looking for a stock ROM for the UK

Hi,
My Tab is currently running 4.0.4 and I would like to upgrade to at least 4.1 but 4.2 would be great.
However looking at the SamMobil website the only official UK ROM is what Iam running.
There is a French ROM avalible http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/3/?download=21111 but would this be ok to load onto my machine?
Any advice on this one?
Sure you are running a Galaxy Tab 2 with existing UK firmware?!
I'm in the UK and mine upgraded to 4.2.2 via Samsung's software update service.
If that doesn't work for you, go to www.sammobile.com, register and then search for your device. That site has the latest UK firmware available for download. Just install with Odin and you are ready to rock n roll!
Edit: incidentally, I know for a fact it's on sammobile because I rooted my device recently, installed a Rom I wasn't that impressed with and downloaded the stock firmware from there, and flashed it with Mobile Odin Pro so I could keep root but go back to stock.
