Installing SD build to MAGLDR - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

Someone please help me out. I have tried this many times with different builds and got no success. I put the SD android folder on the root, then I do the rootfs and startup.txt crap(not sure if I'm doin it right), then I go to magldr, put the adsd directory, boot from SD, an it just stays on the boot screen. This happened with EVERY build, i don't know why. Some one please let me know how to get a SD build working on magldr. Maybe I did something wrong with rootfs....?

Well that is your problem then. You can only use SD Android builds with MAGLDR if you are running WP7. You can't use a SD build with MAGLDR if you are running Android from NAND.

Not true. I have Android on nand and an SD build booting from magldr. You just have to use a magldr-compatible build. The one in my sig listed AD SD works good. Little laggy, but its a DHD build so its to be expected.

I stand corrected then, I was under the understanding that you could not boot from SD card while running android from NAND. Thanks for the info and to the OP and anyone else that read my previous post I appologize for posting false information.

try to wait longer
i've waited longer than 15 minutes while trying to boot an sd card build
the first boot takes the longest.
what class is your sd card?

[Q] Unable to Run Android from SD after installing MAGDLR

Ok so here is my issue,
I recently installed MAGDLR and got Stock Desire ROm running and everything is perfect until I found out that I am unable to run my android ROMS from the SD card!
From the MAGDLR bootloader, i press on boot android from SD = nothing happens.
I realized that maybe haret.exe needs 2 be on the SD card root. So i moved the files.
The bootloader detects the files and boots into Android from SD but then gets stuck at the custom bootloader image of the android ROMS
Tried different ROMS but in vain.
Eversince I installed MAGDLR, I am completely unable of running any ROM from SD.
Does anyone have the same issue or is it only me?
I feel there is a very simple thing I missed and I will feel like an idiot once I know lol.
Any suggestions? I really like testing different ROMS.
Me too, i tried the MIUI ROM from SD (normal rom version) and stucked at MIUI bootloader image.

Did u move ur system files from folder "Android" to the root of the card like I did?
Or was haret.exe already in the root of ur card by default?
I am thinking that this file moving might have caused this
I'm not sure you need to move your files. You can actually configure the Android directory in magldr's settings.
I'm not sure current SD builds are that compatible with being launched from magldr, though. First thing I tried after installing magldr was launching my old m-deejay DesireHD build, but it would just freeze immediately after displaying "preparing sd-card".

ya seems like old SD android ROMS are not compatible with MAGDLR. I thought they would be
Does anyone know what we or the devs can do to resolve this? My builds on SD also freeze at preparing SD card.

AFAIK magdlr cant read the required settings over the startup.txt still, but it would, read the first post over the magdlr thread by cotulla, it would even load wm6.5 and wp7 builds over NAND! its a matter of time (and patience )

I manage to load my "OLD !" SD Android, but it stucks on homescreen while charging SD card, very frustrating...

Booting SD build from MAGLDR

Does anyone know why most SD builds fail - normally at the preparing sd card stage when booting from MAGLDR?

sd boot

just trying to find a link to where I can boot android of sd and have wp7 on nand...i know wp7 formats the sd after the first boot so you would have to load it on after the boot...I'm just looking for a link

This is not currently possible.
Probably will be in the future in one way or another but not yet.
Booting android from the sd card is done via haret which wont work on WP7.
no way to do iit threw magldr ? I just wanna b able to have the best of both worlds until they figure out how to place both on nand(1024leos) well if they decide to do it

It will become possible at some point. By creating a partition on NAND and flashing both (I think).
But at the moment as far as I know its not possible yet.
I dont follow the MAGLDR updates that much because I use "WM / SD Droid" so perhaps one of the MAGLDR addicts might be able to give you a more detailed answer as to when and how it will be possible.

Damn sorry thought that would work for sure. Have you tried making a backup of your SD card and then reformating it using Fat 32?

I just tried it and nothing, i tried with another SD Card of 1gb, and the same problem
Start over from the beginning. If you aborted a first boot of android then your left with a corrupt data.img which will never boot.
You do not need a 3.14 rom to run android.
Redownload the build you want. Make sure you follow the instructions in the rom thread.
Boot to the HTC screen you saw before and wait... it make take more than 30 minutes.
If you need to stop it halfway through then make sure you delete any data.img that is in your android folder.

A 1GB card is too small.
If it tries to create a 1GB data.img then you will run out of space.

I have the same issue.
Although I've waiting quite a while the first time ( maybe not long enough?) I'm testing now again. How long exactly are we talking about? 10/15minutes or longer?
Just the green HTC logo and nothing happens...
Also formatted SD card first...

I've seen builds that take up to 45min to boot if they are creating a 1GB data.img from scratch.

Yes you Can.
in Magldr go to #8 AD recovery & if you have CWM you ca install Android in NAND, after that just copy an SD ROM to you SD & each time you boot you can direct which one to boot from. try the link below it might help

In his sig. Essentially, you flash NAND Android, then copy over the SD build to your SD card (with MAGLDR files if they're not included in the ROM). Then in MAGLDR go to services>boot settings>AD SD Dir and select the folder with your SD ROM in it. Then just boot AD SD and violá
