after I flash with CWM, I get this when it trys to boot android "nand kernel open failed"
Also, in CWM, I get "E:Can't find misc"
installing nand without CWM works.
bump- I searched and didn't find anything helpful. I've tried 3 different roms
"Can't find misc" should only appear if you don't have a misc partition in NAND. (which is created when flashing CWM)
And nand kernel open failure probably means theres no zImage or initrd.gz in the boot partition.
Try flashing CWM from the CWM thread and then a ROM.

How did you transfer the zip file to SD? Did you use magldr? If so try re-transfering using your comp, as Magldr sometimes corrupts them.

Did a clean install of TyphooN CyanogenMod 7 Nightly v3.3.1 and got the "nand kernel open failed" error.
I formated the SD-Card two times, reinstall cwm 150mb partition 3 times and still get the same error, first time within almost 1 year of android on my HD2 ._.
Any ideas or solutions welcome.

after installation, i get the error.
redid all 2 times now, nothing works.

Typhoon doesn't use 250mb CWM, use the one provided with rom 150MB System/5MB Cache (ClockworkMod Recovery v3.0.2.5), most "nand kernel open failed" are down to wrong CWM size
I'm getting the same error, but only with sense 3.0 roms. Any other roms I've used have installed have worked. Is there a certain step I'm missing with installing sense 3.0 roms? I'm using MAGLDR v1.13 and Clockwork Recovery Mod v3.0.2.5. I flashed recovery_150m_cache_5m.zip onto the phone using magldr usb flasher. Any ideas?

150mb for sense rom is definitely to low!
Read the rom's thread carefully guys!
It says there what CWR partition is needed.
Sense roms need SD CARD PARTITION so read the thread (it's first page).
If you have read it and your CWR partition looks exactly as it was given in the rom's thread then do task29, hspl, magldr 1.13 and CWR.
If it still doesn't work try different roms or try CLK.
Thanks for the response. How do I create a 5/240/5 partition through CWR? The last partition I made was just installed through .zip on CWR. Sorry for the questions, new to the hd2.
do all beginners understand this? you are probably putting the 'clk' version of the rom in your storage card for installation. you need the 'magdlr' version of the rom for clockwork mod to correctly install android

Hi guys, i had the same problem, and i figured maybe i can show u what i did, to help u.
i went to THIS thread and followed the instructions:
"Installation Guide for MAGLDR 1.13"
the error occured right after i flashed the MAGLDR_CWM_Recovery_v3.2.0.0_for_NexusHD2_135M.zip onto my HTC HD2.
the only thing i had to do was enter magldr boot menu (hold off button while booting)
then i choose AD RECOVERY
CWM started up and i choose install zip from SD card
ofcourse i have placed NexusHD2-Gingerbread_V3.0_NAND_(Android-2.3.5).zip onto the ROOT of my SD card previously.
the .zip file installed perfectly and then i rebooted my phone.
all was ok after that..
hope this helps!

No we do not, thank you, this helped.
I have a european HTC HD2 running MAGLDR 1.3 and I cannot install Clockworkmod under any circumstances. I've been running MDJ's Cyanogenmod 7 for weeks now and have the correct radio and hspl, but every time I attempt to flash clockwork I get a message saying NAND kernel open failed when I try to boot AD Recovery. I've tried both the NAND boot and the old style SD boot with no luck whatsoever. I'm now totally stumped and unable to get any of the new ROMS. Thanks in advance for any help you can give.
Can you give us the exact steps you have taken?
This way we can see if you missed something.
Thanks for the response,
Installed radio and hspl, then magldr 1.11 (this is the setup I'd been using for a while). Today I tried to install clockworkmod so I upgraded to magldr 1.13 at the tri color screen. That seemed to work fine, all the functions working perfectly. I then downloaded cwm 1.3 150mb and tried to install (USB flash, ran as admin etc.) The install seemed to go alright but when I tried to boot into recovery I got the error message. I ran into the same problem using the method where you put files on the SD first and using the script to install magldr 1.13 and cwm one after the other.
i had problems with cwm 150 installer. i ended up getting the 250 meg version, and editinf flash.cfg, worked first time.
Did you use AD SD or AD Recovery (option 8 )?
AD Recovery is the one to use.

I've used both and neither worked, they both result in nand kernel open failed. Its unable to find initrd or the other file no matter what i do.
Sounds like the file recovery.raw (or is it recovery.img, i forget) didn't get flashed, please confirm there is a recovery image included with the cwm files you are installing, and also please paste us the contents of your flash.cfg. file.
Try flashing 400mb clockwork mod.most roms require this mod and it does work
Sent from my HTC HD2 Gingerbread using XDA App
I got it to work by using the 250mb version with edited flash file! Thanks a lot for all the help.

What exact Clockwork Mod Recovery did you flash to you're HD2? As there is two was of installing it and two ways of booting it.
I'm in the same problem, i upgraded ROM Manager from market and then reflashed recovery from rom manager, from which we can find HTC HD2 listed now, and when i entered recovery, same error appears: Invalid boot image header. Please help us. Before this upgrade, i have reflashed recovery using Desire HD listed with no problems at all.
Edit: i have to reflash selecting DESIRE HD and had to reflash the whole Hyperdroid GBX v12 build to fix it.
Yes, i have the same issure. After the upgrade to v4.0.0.6 from market and selection for recovery CwM for HD2 i was unable to boot in this partition.
I´ve tried to install all older versions 3.0.0.5 and 3.0.0.6 (new one is 3.0.2.5) but it seems, that the recovery system is now demaged.
Also the selection for recovery CwM Desire and Desire HD does not run
Please help...iam not able to flash a new system anymore without lose my data

Try reflashing Recovery, i use 150M_recovery, then reflash your build. That should help. I think it's the only way to fix it, at least worked for me.

Hi,
I had the same problem.I think the new ROM manager is currently only working with CLK.That's why it's screwing up our MAGLDR.
I'm going to try loading it back manually from this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=987531.
I will report back.
(EDIT)
Yup ,it worked fine.
Used "magldr_recovery_3.0.2.5.zip" For MAGLDR 1.13, booting from NAND.
It updated to 3.0.2.5,then I restored a previous backup.
Everything back to normal.
Thanks malybru for this help
yes, that works fine, but i lost my data.
For the future... i have to make more backups before i update to a new version of CwM
Thorsten
(EDIT)
Nooooo....i have the same issure again.
After flashing the new recovery system and backup, i´ve installed the CwM Update from market.
The same again...
i think its an issure of CwM :-(

It's ok to go to market and type ROM manager and update it.
However,do not use the program if you have MAGLDR,because it will not work, yet.
At the moment ,it will only work if you have CLK installed.
Solved my issue.
I thank you all for your efforts, much appreciated!
A few hours after panicking i just reflashed the 400MB system partition and everything was totaly fine.

Member zach.anger did a good job in that post instructing on the proper ADB commands to type in. But Icwas pointed to a very good guide by senior member arif-ali, who is one of the main developers that worked and is still working with cedesmith to get cLK perfected, which it is pretty much close to that now. Anyway he directed me to senior member stirkac's really good guide. You can find it at the link below. Thought I would share it with everyone as it is kinda barrier in the cLK thread.

The same exact thing happened to me with both of my HD2s, I quickly figured that there is an issue. So the solution was to to ref lash everything and reload a previous backup.
Go here and follow each one accordingly for MAGLDR or cLK:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=933951
Clean Install MAGLDR:
1. Task 29
2. Flash Radio(2.15 Recommended)
3. MAGLDR 1.13
4. MAGLDR 150MB System/5MB Cache (ClockworkMod Recovery v3.0.2.5)
5. Install TyphooN CyanogenMod 7 .zip with CWM
Clean Install cLK:
Follow Charmacas's tutorial

I just flashed the newest TyphooN CyanogenMod 6.2 on my HD2 but after rebooting, the phone stucks on bootscreen. Can anyone help?
Chris

oh no, before i flashed the new rom, i was running the 3.5.0 version of typhoon cyanogen mod. first i made a backup with clk. then i installed the .zip from sd card and after that restored the system. then i got some problem with booting, magldr. said: failed to open nand kernel. so i flashed 3.6.2 new and now it stucks ^^'

do you use clk or mgldr? have you wiped data/factory reset before flashing new rom? have you made proper nand partition?
well i use both i think. magldr to boot and clk to install everything or backup/restore,... i didn't wipe data/factory nor made something with the nand partition cause this wasn't the first time i tried install a newer version. i never had problems using this method to flash the new rom. that's why i'm a little bit surprised why it isn't working.
i solved the problem, flashing an older rom with no beta kernel. now it's booting, puhh.. but thanks anyway!
:victory:****** Solved *******
Hi, thank you for all of your help and assistance.
It was all down to selecting the correct partitions (and me getting over enthusiastic in flashing roms and not reading FULLY on how and what partitions are required)
I have used HD2 Nand toolkit, and partitioned MAGLDR, then partitioned SD card within Clockworkmod.
Thank you all again for pointing me in the right direction...
Good Evening All,
I am sorry if this has been covered. I have searched the forums but cannot find an answer.
I have read all the FAQ and How-to's.
I am not an exact newbie, I have owned a HD2 before (about 2 years ago) and could install all sorts of different roms (including NAND)
I have Installed my Radio 2.15.50.14
I have installed HARD SPL 2.08
I have Installed MAGdlr 1.13
I ahve installed clockwork mod recovery 1.3 with 400M
Copied rom to root of SD Nexus HD2 jellybean v1.2 [dataonext]
and I have installed Nexus HD2 jellybean v1.2 [dataonext]
this installed fine,
I then decided to try another,
I downloaded QSEA_JB-MUSIC EDITION_V1 and placed on root of SD,
I booted into Magldr, then into clockwork mod
from here i wipe data, and factory reset,
wipe cache partition
and wiped delvic cache.
Then i install zip from sd card QSEA_JB-MUSIC EDITION_V1
when this is done,
It asks me to reboot,
Then it stays on the boot screen, and the rom does not load.....
I can restore the back up from the original rom install. but whatever rom I install (from Nand rom downloads) none of them install...
Please help...

1-Why? Use the HD2 NAND Toolkit to partition your system according to the developer.
2- Never reboot directly from the "reboot now" option of amarullz's installer. Instead, uncheck the "reboot now" option, click finish and reboot manually from CWM.
(The reboot option somehow makes your rom not boot, at least that happens to me every time)

I don't use magldr, so I am not sure.
But I think you have to "MAGLDR recovery update" first, and then after it finishes you have to "magdlr repartition". Im not sure though.
How do I just install clockwork mod? Without using Magldr?
If I Task29 first,
What's my next step.....?
After Task29 (don't do task29 again) you have to do the following: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=25781675#post25781675 until you see the "recovery" .. from there, dont continue to flashing wp7, just put your rom on your sd and flash it from recovery. (don't forget to thank the the one who made the thread/guide)
Don't forget to NOT use 300mb, but use the one written on your rom's thread.

You can't have CWM without MAGLDR. If you've flashed CWM you shouldn't have lost MAGLDR at all, so I don't know what you did wrong. Task 29s are also almost always useless and unnecessary, if a guide says 'task 29' as the first step then usually you can just skip that part. I find that the best guide is the one in my sig, try it out.
