CyanogenMod-7 for Desire HD question - Desire HD General

i am about to move from recolution hd to cm7, got 2 questions tho and i cannot post in the dev forums yet.
1. what is that extra google app that comes (optional) with it? where can i read about it
2. i couldn't understand which radio is recommended with that rom? currently i am with: Radio_12.35d.60.140f_26.06.03.24_M2
thank you

According to the first post of the dev thread, 26.04.02.17 is highly recommended. This radio can be found in the radio thread.
In answer to question 1, I believe that refers to a function that is activated the first time you access the market. It gives you the option to install google apps which aren't included within the rom.

Get the apps here:

Read about why they are separate from CM7 here:

1) Google asked the CM team not to include Google Apps in the rom. So that `Google App' you mention is a shortcut for getting Google Apps onto your device depending on which rom you have.
Here are the basic steps for getting the Google Apps on your device after you've installed your main rom (CM7).
Step 1 - Rom Manager (included in CM7 and most roms) - Download Rom

"lightbox_new_window": "New window",

}
Step 2 - (Scroll up) Google Apps
Step 3 - Choose the latest recommended Google Package for your rom
Step 4 - You don't need to wipe to install the Google Apps. You shouldn't need to backup your rom - unless you haven't already done so. Click OK.
After the phone finishes rebooting etc. You will see that the Android Market is installed on your device. Also, when you login to Google - the device will ask you if you want to choose Google Apps from a list to download from the Market. You can then choose items and they will download. If they don't (for example YouTube), just get it from the Market as usual.
2) You only need to change radio if you have issues and think you can improve things. You might not need to change.

If some developers could try and add their ROM's to test this out that would be a big help.

This is probably been attempted before but I got bored and decided to make a ROM Directory type thing. It took me a day to develop and is written in PHP using the CakePHP framework for anyone that is interested.
If anyone has any feedback or anything please let me know.
The reason there is only 1 ROM added is because they are the files i have on my PC as i use that ROM.
Below are some pictures of it:

Very nice set up I would definitely use it. Ive been doing alot of work lately on my friends and family's android phones and if you can get this up it wont take forever to find a rom that they like and i can set it up for them
http://roms.scottymeuk.co.uk
It would definitely be nice to have one stop place for all the latest ROMs. But, in my opinion creating the website isn't the hard part, the hard part is to keep your directory updated with the latest ROMs.
Because there are lots of ROMs available (different phones, different versions etc) and many people use nightly builds too like in case of Cyanogen. So, that would mean you will have to update the data/urls/change logs etc regularly.
How do you plan to aggregate and update all this data? Manually? Or fetch data as a feed from their respective website? Or hoping for the web 2.0 way?
But, if you manage to do that then it would be really great.
People who create the ROM's will be able to do all of that them self. The way it works is that the ROM is submitted by someone (doesn't have to be the developer) and then that ROM is locked to their account, it is then approved by an admin and then they are then free to add as many versions as they want, where they can upload a zip file, and add change log for THAT version.
The change log is not one big database entry, it is the "versions" of the roms. For each version you submit there is a change log.

CM7 for Samsung Admire (also known as Vitality or SCH-R720)

What the is this?
It's requisite0's build(s) of Cyanogenmod 7.2 Release Candidate 1, ClockWorkMod Recovery 5.0.2.8, and custom Kernel.
How do I use it?
1. First make sure you do a nandroid backup.
2. Flash the CWM Recovery and Kernel package, then go to Advanced->Reboot recovery. Here: http://d-h.st/tU6
3. Install the latest version of Cyanogenmod 7.2 ROM. Here: http://d-h.st/PmW
4. [The files were deleted for the step about the configuration for Cricket Wireless and nTelos]
5. Install the latest gapps (no longer necessary to mount system beforehand) zip. Here: http://d-h.st/pT4
6. (OPTIONAL) Install the overclocked kernel. Here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/2765gmtxnotqp0k/CM72RC1-OCKernel900MHz-requisite0.zip
7. Select Reboot system now and wait at least 10 minutes for the market updates to take effect (connect to wifi first if data connection isn't working)(first boot might take a minute).
What works?
Wifi
Bluetooth
Data
Texting
Cell Service
USB
Camera (video)
Data/MMS (in 90% of cases)
What doesn't work?
Camera (still pictures)
Data/MMS (in 10% of cases)
Do you provide source code?
Yes. You can check requisite0's GitHub here: https://github.com/requisite0
This is not my work, this was done by requisite0 at androidforums. I am just informing those with the Samsung Admire. Here is the original thread: http://androidforums.com/admire-all-things-root/587358-rom-cwm-kernel-cm7-2-rc1-requisite0-beta2.html
Now we just need someone to pick this rom up and complete it.For Cm7 beta2 it works well.Just a few bugs to work out.
Req did a great job with it so far.Anyone up for finishing it?
Check this forum: http://androidforums.com/admire-all-things-root/
Over at Android Forums there is support for our phone, we have devs like Boraichee, RetroDelete working on getting bugs fixed in CM7. requisite0 is banned which means if there is an update to his CM7.2 ROM/Kernel he won't be able to post it. But I noticed that your probably already know that since you are also at Android Forums.
how the hell do we do any thing if people keep uploading to mediafire!? that website is dead, its not a good website anymore.
Still waiting for the release version of cm7 Hope Req0 gets it done soon.
And thanks to Pg and others for all their work in this project.

-RESERVED! -
Here will be released the upcoming "Serenity-ROM", the counterpart to the "firefly"-ROM by me...
Currently the planning period for this ROM is in progress...
I think, it will become a "Low-Ressource" firmware, that will be quie fast...
But you can post any suggestions for this firmware here...
Can you Try following things in your new rom(for 8530) :
1. Please try to make rom fast so that we can play heavy games without lag and unlocking of phone without lag .
2. If possible,try to fix or remove memory leakage issue:silly:
3. if possible,add some kind of sound effect like vodoo or extreme grove in ROM
4. Make hidden bada storage visible via USB.
5. If possible,make GPS fix fast.:silly:
few more things still to come...
Thanks...
Regards,
WaveGuru
1. If it is possible to reduce the lag ... for example when I play Asphalt 6 all widgets are closed.
2. If it is possible to add a Facebook app that lets you know in real time when you receive a message, a LIKE or someone has written on the wall ... etc ... just like on Android.
3. If it is possible to add a GPS application that works and that you know when to turn right or left and when to go ahead ... I hope I did understand, because the already preinstalled, Samsung LBS, must be activated, to look your way from one point to another and to guide you on that road.
Waiting for your rom :good:
1. I think, nearly all widgets will be removed...
2. I'll only work with Java version of FB...
3. It is not planned to include navigation in this rom...
You have it in the "firefly" ROM with Route66... But, you need a license...
First impressions...
Welll....
Work is going on...
THX in advance to hero355, who gave me permission to use his Turko-CFW V8 as donor-FW...
But, this ROM will NOT become a copy of this one...
It'll only include some features, that you can also find in hero355's CFW ...
Stay curious...!
Taxidriver05...do you have a ETA for this ROM? I'm waiting for it like a baby waits for his chocolate
Currently NOT...
Need a little bit time for creating the ROM...
Currently less time for doing some firmware projects...

G App install walkthrough

Hello all,
I see people keep asking how to get G Apps on MIUI, and most answers I find lacking so here is (I Hope) an easy walkthrough:
First go to the additional settings:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Second click on privacy:
Third click the unknown sources:
Fourth go to the default tools folder and click on download:
Fifth turn off Xunlei download engine and set downloading to Unlimited (i know it says mobile data but i couldn't get the install to work without this step).
Sixth find the MI app store icon, mine was in the tools folder, launch the mi app store:
Seventh type in google in the search bar you should get the below screenshot. click the secone one (green one)
Eighth you should see the below screenshot result.
Ninth you should see the below icon installed
Tenth you will see the below screenshot, click the big blue button.
this is not a click and forget install, it will install 6 things but the installs are on you and pop up , each time one pops up click install and then click done once it completes.
Eleventh step: find the security app, click permissions. find the below circled apps and give them most of the permissions.
And then lauch the Google Playstore, by clicking on the playstore icon. I hope this helps. please PM me, if you see an error or post if you have a question. I will try to answer asap.

Which guide did you follow, there are several in the Mods and Themes section of this device forum like this one https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g4-plus/themes/zip-viper4android-2-4-0-1-fx-beautiful-t3661849
And as always: you need to give detailed information about your setup(device, rom, version, mods, guide you followed, link, etc.)
