If some developers could try and add their ROM's to test this out that would be a big help.

This is probably been attempted before but I got bored and decided to make a ROM Directory type thing. It took me a day to develop and is written in PHP using the CakePHP framework for anyone that is interested.
If anyone has any feedback or anything please let me know.
The reason there is only 1 ROM added is because they are the files i have on my PC as i use that ROM.
Below are some pictures of it:

Very nice set up I would definitely use it. Ive been doing alot of work lately on my friends and family's android phones and if you can get this up it wont take forever to find a rom that they like and i can set it up for them

It would definitely be nice to have one stop place for all the latest ROMs. But, in my opinion creating the website isn't the hard part, the hard part is to keep your directory updated with the latest ROMs.
Because there are lots of ROMs available (different phones, different versions etc) and many people use nightly builds too like in case of Cyanogen. So, that would mean you will have to update the data/urls/change logs etc regularly.
How do you plan to aggregate and update all this data? Manually? Or fetch data as a feed from their respective website? Or hoping for the web 2.0 way?
But, if you manage to do that then it would be really great.
People who create the ROM's will be able to do all of that them self. The way it works is that the ROM is submitted by someone (doesn't have to be the developer) and then that ROM is locked to their account, it is then approved by an admin and then they are then free to add as many versions as they want, where they can upload a zip file, and add change log for THAT version.
The change log is not one big database entry, it is the "versions" of the roms. For each version you submit there is a change log.

I would just like to know if there is a way to flash a noID rom to the PPC6700. I would love to add Verzion's Rom version I was going to use it because the verizon phone has the ability to get gps data from fieldtrial.exe, where as the Spriint version does not, and maybe it has to do with the ROM?
Also, one last question, even if I don't do that, the regular image of the rom from the unbranded apache would even work.
I would also like to know if there is a way to remove the prefs.dat file from the sprint 6700 found in the filesystem/brew/prefs.dat because when I attempt to delete it usint qpst or bitpim it says that the carrier has restricted access to it. What is so special about this file for Sprint?
the gps data is not based on rom version...it is turned on by the carrier. for sprint, it would show up if you had...say...family locator.
but to answer your question:
search for bal666's htc64 extended rom tool, use it to decrypt the verizon nk.nbf, change carrier to SPCS_001, re-encrypt and flash using the updater from a sprint rom.
I do not have a prefs.dat in my cdma filesystem. why are you interested in removing it? can you post that file?
Not a chance. I can't look at the file without it flipping me off. This file will not remove itself if I smashed it with a hammer. I don't know what it does or what it is, but it is there and I don't like it? Sounds retarded, but if it has no purpose and it is RESTRICTED, I want to see it.
I have uploaded a screenshot of the existance of the file, it's behind the open window, I''m using this for both sites pdahome and here.
It is hosted by our good friends at Tinypic:

I am the NOOB of the forum
Hello, I wanted to take a minute to thank the great amount of useful information on your forums. The information has helped with my Dash and my Wzard. Now I have gotten my hands on a Sprint PPC6700, and, my question is ( forgive me if it is COMPLETELY misplaced) as follows: Is it possible to install the Verizon ROM on this device to make it usable on the Verizon Wireless network, or am I just losing sleep here for no reason?
As always, thanks for any information provided.
Hello again. Well, I decided to read the post(s) on this thread. (SORRY) I decoded the verizon rom and changed the description to read"SPCS_001". NOw, it seemed to freeze on the radio rom update. The screen displayed "Updating the RADIO stack". immediately after that popped up on the screen, the Update utility said that there was an unexpected error. Now the phone will probably have to be flashed back to the Sprint software, but I was really hoping to get the Verizon ROM on there...........help, please. Thanks.
Please keep me posted on changes you'd like to see in this and I will do my best to meet all your requests and additions.
Also share the link with whomever you'd like. The more testers and suggestions, the faster it is completed.

You need to install Flash Lite 2.1 in order for the UI to work. I'm working on a standalone .exe fairly soon.
In The Works:
-MP3 Player currently being programmed
-Speeding up Interface
-Music link works if HTC Audio Manager is installed. (do a search within these forums. Link coming soon)
-Skins and remade programs to fit TactX theme coming soon..
V1.2
Updated:
-Landscape Now Supported
Instructions:
Install TactX UI Alpha
Install Flash Lite 2.1
Reset and you're done!

If you download and try, please leave input for some changes I should make before I get started on the file browsing, picture viewing, etc interfaces.
mmmk well i get a wonderfull error message when installed then phone restarted.
i guess you need flash support installed as the error says unable to play swf?
how about some instructions?
Sorry 'bout that. In working on this I totally forgot to place instructions on installing. Thanks for the feedback

If there are any bugs with the switching between Portrait and Landscape, please post your findings.
Thanks
Sorry Dude,
Tested on my 8525 running Schwapps Rom,, Runs really slow and choppy... and icons didn't work...
-Good Luck
Works as advertised. The speed of the app is acceptable considering its Flash. I like the concept of the app and think its creative. Switching between portrait and landscape worked fine (although slow). I installed into device memory also. Good work so far cant wait to follow the progress. I'm using a 8525 with schapps 3.60a (fresh install).
I'm looking to build my first custom ROM for my HD2 T8585. I'm not a noob to programming but have never been in a kitchen before. So I'm tentatively dipping my toes in.
My plan is to use the stock ROM as my starting point and then gradually customise it to my needs. I downloaded a copy of it from the internet (RUU_Leo_HTC_WWE_1.66.405.2_Radio_CRC_Signed_15.32.50.07U_2.07.51.22_2_Ship)
and imported it into osKitchen v1.32.1
Thats where I'm at now and I have a few questions before I continue.
When I go to the EXT Packages tab, there are a couple of errors listed.
Both appear to be syntax errors in registry settings. should I open up the files and correct these. (I did open them and can see what the problems are I think)

Next, I want to remove some of the EXT Packages, CoPilot and NaviPanel for a start. Is it simply a case of unchecking their boxes.
Lastly, for now, If I want to update some of the EXT Packages, say YouTube, is it just a matter of unchecking its box and importing a new package to take its place.
after completing the above could I then build the Rom and flash it to my beloved HD2 without risking turning it into an expensive paper weight?
Thanks for reading and any help you can offer
The easiest thing is just to remove packages you don't want from the kitchen, that way you won't forget and accidentally cook them in. But, yes, just uncheck the box.
Just fix the reg files manually. It pretty much tells you what to do.
Bringing in new EXT's can be problematic if they also need dll's from newer builds that you don't have.
Great thanks, I think I'm just being over cautious.
Just one more quick Q.
on the SYS Packages, there are a few entries listed as "Useless" is that really the case? and can they be removed without adverse effects?
thanks for your patience.
Farsite,
sorry, but all your questions are already answered and fixed in OsKitchen thread.
This is your 1st time cooking but there are already a lot of custom roms around and this means that your problems are already fixed.
Please..use OsKitchen thread if you have some questions about that, open a new thread is totaly useless.
Best regards.

-RESERVED! -
Here will be released the upcoming "Serenity-ROM", the counterpart to the "firefly"-ROM by me...
Currently the planning period for this ROM is in progress...
I think, it will become a "Low-Ressource" firmware, that will be quie fast...
But you can post any suggestions for this firmware here...
Can you Try following things in your new rom(for 8530) :
1. Please try to make rom fast so that we can play heavy games without lag and unlocking of phone without lag .
2. If possible, try to fix or remove memory leakage issue:silly:
3. if possible, add some kind of sound effect like vodoo or extreme grove in ROM
4. Make hidden bada storage visible via USB.
5. If possible,make GPS fix fast.:silly:
few more things still to come...
Thanks...
Regards,
WaveGuru
1. If it is possible to reduce the lag ... for example when I play Asphalt 6 all widgets are closed.
2. If it is possible to add a Facebook app that lets you know in real time when you receive a message, a LIKE or someone has written on the wall ... etc ... just like on Android.
3. If it is possible to add a GPS application that works and that you know when to turn right or left and when to go ahead ... I hope I did understand, because the already preinstalled, Samsung LBS, must be activated, to look your way from one point to another and to guide you on that road.
Waiting for your rom :good:
1. I think, nearly all widgets will be removed...
2. I'll only work with Java version of FB...
3. It is not planned to include navigation in this rom...
You have it in the "firefly" ROM with Route66... But, you need a license...
First impressions...
Welll....
Work is going on...
THX in advance to hero355, who gave me permission to use his Turko-CFW V8 as donor-FW...
But, this ROM will NOT become a copy of this one...
It'll only include some features, that you can also find in hero355's CFW ...
Stay curious...!
Taxidriver05...do you have a ETA for this ROM? I'm waiting for it like a baby waits for his chocolate
Currently NOT...
Need a little bit time for creating the ROM...
Currently less time for doing some firmware projects...
Hi all, hoping you can help me out with this. It's not a critical issue, more a vanity/QOL thing.
I'd like to change the device name/ID that shows up when connecting my Nexus 7 to a wifi network. Currently it shows up as "android-<string of alphanumerics>" but I'd like to be able to give it a more descriptive name to help differentiate when setting up a wifi connection around multiple similar devices.
I've got my N7 rooted but not unlocked, and I'd prefer not to flash a custom ROM if possible. I'm no stranger to flashing ROMs, I'm just not interested in putting a huge amount of work or potentially causing myself problems for something that is so relatively minor.. I can live without a custom device name, but it would be nice to be able to set one up.
Thanks in advance!

Is that screenshot from the custom ROM you have listed in your sig?
I'm using a stock N7 with build JDQ39 and I don't seem to have many of those options listed in the Developer Options menu. Or is there something I need to do to enable those, similar to the method used to 'unhide' the Developer Options in the first place?
My apologies if this is basic information that I could have found elsewhere.

Yes it is Slim Bean Build 7. That is just what I use as it is included in the ROM. You can set it manually or use an app such as these.
Wow.. I feel incredibly dumb right now. I'm so used to doing things the hard way I didn't even consider checking if there were apps in the store that might do what I wanted. Thanks for reminding me to look in the easy places first!
Cheers!
