I need someone to bring my HD2 back to life..WILL PAY - HD2 General

A while back, I wound up bricking my HD2. Since then, I purchased a vibrant. However, I still miss my good ol' Leo, and I'm asking anyone out there who has a JTAG,to bring her back to life. I will pay, as I said, but I would like to keep that for the people actually willing to fix my phone, so PM's please. Thanks guys.
P.S. In case you are wondering, I'm not so savy and smart when it comes to actually opening up the phone, and doing whatever to it, If I attempted to do that, I KNOW I would break it, so thats why I am not doing it myself, otherwise, I would be.

PM me and ai will put uou in contact with someone that can JTAG your HD2. They are in the US and very reasonably priced. Like I said PM me and I can give you full information. You are not suppose to use the forums for any kind of busneiss transactions that is why I can not post it here.
Edit: I sent you a PM check your inbox.

how much do you pay?

Noob of all noobs seeking guidance among the flames

OK,
I could understand griping at me if I just came here saying "Hay guise! I'm too
lazy to spend any time doing research and finding out how to do this on my
ownz. Could somebody just spoonfeed me something they spent hours
learning how to do?"
If that were the case I would deserve much scorn and derision but perhaps
you might hear my explanation and perchance give me a little help.
I recently bought an HTC Vogue that was sold to the original buyer through
Sprint. I have Cricket. Since I previously had an account with Sprint I thought
I could set one up again but no, they turned me down, don't know exactly
why.
I was buying the phone to replace my Sanyo that was going off the deep end
and thought I would learn to unlock/flash the new one over to Cricket on my
own. Much time was spent joining forums, reading conflicting advice and
gnashing my teeth. Then, joy of joys, the Sanyo craters all together and I
now have no connectivity at all. To worsen matters my cell line is how I get
business, being a handyman and I many people are reluctant to hire someone
who doesn't answer their phone. So, much to my consternation, I desperately
need to get my Vogue working on the Cricket network. I have the Vogue's
ESN registered as the phone on my account now and the guy was kind
enough to provide me with the min, mdn and SID numbers when I went in
to do the changeover but that's all I gots.
I have seen too many pages of data telling me the alleged definitive way to
get not only my voice service working on Cricket, but text, SMS, web AND
GPS as well but I am reluctant to try any of them because I can ill afford to
buy another phone because I bricked this one. Nor do I want to pay someone
to do it for me when I know that given the right info, I can do it myself.
I know it is stupid to lose business because I want to flash my own phone but
surely many of you out there feel the same way.
Here's what I am asking. Can a few of you kindhearted folks point me to the
ultimate and definitive guide to getting all of my services working on the
Cricket network? I really have put in a lot of search time but all I can say for
certain is that I believe that xda Devs is the site that is my best shot.
I would be very grateful if someone could help, I have also seen evidence of
many people saying that Android is the way to go instead of WM but I have
no idea if I should just stay with Windows Mobile 6, upgrade to a newer one
or switch to Android much less if I should make a change before or after I
flash the phone to Cricket. Uggggghhh.
Please good sirs (and ladies?) thy help would be most fortuitous at this
juncture.
Thanks in advance,
Tex
Adden-dumb
It looks like I figured out that since the phone was an insurance
replacement that it has Windows Mobile 6.1 on it, that solves
one riddle for me.
I've seen very few guides to doing this..and most of them from rather untrustworthy sites.
Basically because I believe the same information can be used to CLONE a cell phone, stealing someone else's service.
I'm afraid that's not of much help to you, but I looked into it once before, and was told basically unless the provider was willing to program it for me, it would be very difficult to do.
You have to change the ESN to the one of the Sanyo... which is illegal afaik

G1 needed

I hope a post like this is acceptable on the XDA forums, and if not I apologize.
Does anyone here have an extra G1 they might consider selling? Mine was lost/stolen this weekend and while I have an OK backup phone, I am already really missing my G1.
I just thought, of all the places, this was a likely place to find someone with an extra one lying around somewhere. Go figure, right?
The last thing I did with my phone before I lost it was download the newest Cyanogen update, and I didn't even get to install it! That's just not right!
So anyway, like I said, if this sort of post is frowned upon I sincerely apologize. I certainly don't want to start any bad trend on here. I just want a G1 back!
This forum has a marketplace, I suppose you could check there. Otherwise I would try ebay.
But if you're willing to pay €200, you can have mine!

Need help with my Nexus One with Froyo in the Charlotte, NC area

Also need some networking help if someone's up for it.
Willing to pay something reasonable or take you out for dinner or whatever.
Please, do NOT respond with advice as I will NOT be able to understand it.
I need someone that can come to my house or meet me somewhere and pimp it for me. Jailbreaking while still retaining the wifi hotspot option.
Thanks
George
Jailbreaking is for iPhones, iPods and iPads.
Define "pimp it for me" and you MIGHT get an offer
HI, I just realized I had a reply so sorry for the delay.
I think I've found someone local and I just replied to that person so we'll see how that goes. I actually got that reply quite some time ago too but for some reason it went into a spam folder...
If I still need it, I'll elaborate more on the pimpin' and so on.
THanks

Selling android on craigslist

I found someone selling NAND android for the hd2 on craigslist..... pisses me off, so much work dev's put into this and people are selling it.... here's the ad: http://kansascity.craigslist.org/mob/2264692873.html
If this is not the correct place to post this, please move it, it is about nand android so I figured it would be okay here.... and in case he removes the ad because I instructed him to do so, here is the ad:
IF YOU HAVE A HTC HD2 THAT IS HAVEING PROBLEMS FREEZING LAGGING OR U JUST DONT LIKE THE WINDOWS 6.5 OS SYSTEM U CAN NOW UPGRADE TO ANDRIOD SENSE GINGERBREAD OR WINDOWS PHONE 7 ALL SYSTEMS RUN GREAT ANDRIOD ROMS COMES PRE ROOTED FREE WIFI HOTSPOT U CAN DOWNLOAD PAID APPS OF YOUR CHOICE. I WILL INSTALL RADIO UPGRADE FOR TMOBILE HSPA + 4G NETWORK. 4G HOTSPOT WORKS GREAT WITH GAME SYSTEMS 360 PS3 ECT UPGRADE ONLY TAKES ABOUT 30 MIN DEPENDING ON WHAT U WANT INSTALLED WILL MEET AT A DESIRED LOCATION THANK U. Call or text FOR MORE INFO EXPERT SERVICES 2 YR + 816-673-8835 anytime
I say any developers not happy about this give him a call!
I talked with him over text messaging and he claims that he does not know what XDA is and never heard of it....If any mods are interested in his personal info, I am going to have the name registered to this line in a few..... so he can be banned from XDA
yea theres a couple of those on craigslist here in the boston area also
And what he says in his ad about 4g..... does the radio upgrade make it 4g capable? if so, I wasn't aware that it did.....
Ya know... as disgusting as it is, he's not doing anything wrong. It's almost like saying that a mechanic charging to fix your car is ridiculous because they didn't even invent the parts, they're just using their technical know-how to fix it.
He's offering a service - to set up your phone with Android. Don't people pay to get Windows installed on their computers? Or Linux even? I mean, if there's a demand for a service, then there will be a supply of people who will charge for said service.
That being said, I hate how people are stupid enough to pay for this service when all the knowledge is out there for free and you'll be better off learning how to do it on your own because you become more knowledgeable and you can fix the phone on your own if there's some kind of software problem.
These kinds of services are rampant in the Los Angeles Area. These guys usually charge $20 a head. Gotta wonder how many people are dumb enough to shell out any amount of money for this kind of service.
I kind of do see a need out there for that kind of service though. Some folks would rather just fork over the $20 than risk screwing up their phone, and how many noob question threads are there from ppl who cant manage to flash a rom without help even after reading the stickies, etc. It kinda makes for less clutter in the forums, and people are glad to hand over a little cash for the garuntee that they get Android quick and easy. 2 things though:
These people should donate a certain amount of their profits to the devs who made their business possible.
And learning by doing makes you smarter. By reading and applying the knowledge gained, you are better preparing yourself for future challenges. There's always going to be a next cool phone, and today's lesson learned makes tomorrows challenge easier. I would never pay someone to make me dumber and lazier, I'm already dumb and lazy enough

Who in the hell are you to instruct someone to remove an ad off of Craigslist. Is it ****ed up, yeah, but you have absolutely zero right to instruct someone to do anything. Some people would rather pay someone rather than take the time to do it themselves. Some people could care less how they get to point B, just that they get there. Other people would rather pay someone to work on their phone so they don't have to deal with the stress of bricking their device. Anytime there is a dollar to be made, people are going to take advantage of the situation. This isn't the first time, and damn sure isn't going to be the last time.
That being said, hopefully, people that are charging to install Android on HD2's are donating a % of their income to the devs. Without them, it wouldn't be possible.
While were instructing people to do things, I'm instructing you to delete his phone number out of your post.
Diesberg,
Get off your horse before you fall off it. XDA and TW are awesome resources for this interest group but not for everyone. I could go on, but will just leave it with "you're wrong on this one".

This subject has already been debated to death... some people rather pay to have it done instead of learning themselves. At least these craigslist sellers actually meet and do the flashing for you. To charge someone $20 to meet up with them and do the flashing isn't that unreasonable. What bothers me are the people on ebay selling the instructions for $20. One guy I saw made over $10,000 in less than a week selling instructions to install wp7 for $25 ea... I couldn't believe he sold that many.
It think plenty of right is reserved for someone to instruct him to take the ad down. As said above, a certain % of what he makes should be donated to developers, then it would be okay. But we know damn well that he won't donate anything. So I don't think it's right or should be done unless donations are gave to the developer of whatever software is being used. If you took all the time to make such a good rom such as typhoons cm7, I'm sure you wouldn't like someone selling it on an auction site.... but the ones who say this is okay I don't think are developers so you don't understand..... I'm not a developer but I would not be happy if I saw my rom being used for these services if I were the developer.....
Wow, you still don't get it. They don't sell any roms, they offer a service...
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA App
Wow, I do get it. But I still feel like it shouldn't be done without a percentage going to developers.... at least cotulla.....(and I'm not even a huge fan of his work) it would not be possible for someone to sell such a service without the hard work of developers, at least the bootloader dev's. When someone charges to install windows... well, windows must be purchased first(at least for it to be legal) So microsoft gets their share for their work.... no dev is getting a share for his hard work when someone sells the installation service.... and I feel this is not right...... that is my opinion and I am entitled to it just like you are your opinion.......

That's right, you're not a dev, so why are you tripping? Is Best Buys ripping off Microsoft because they charge someone to install windows? C'mon dude, you cannot be this dense.

You are definitely entitled to your opinion, but you're not entitled to instruct someone to remove an ad off of Craigslist, or to post some random dudes phone number on a message board.
this is such an old topic!!! I've been seeing this since I got my first windows mobile phone(Tmobile dash) 3 years ago, shoot you can go to ebay and find tons of ads on buying roms and install services with tech support, and all it is someone online or a text file with step by step instructions on how to do it yourself flashing and modding.
Just because we know XDA and we know how things should be done in the mobile hacking world , it doesn't mean everybody does, or everybody cares, I agree the devs deserve a donation or a percentage of anybody making a profit but it's not going to happen, at least from those people!
I did not post some random dudes number to a message board, I copied and pasted the craigslist ad that this thread is about. Yes, the ad contained his number but that is info you can find on the internet anyways. (craigslist.org)
This topic and all the millions of variations of it over the years are absolutely ridiculous.
This is 100% exactly the same as somebody providing a linux installation/setup/configuration service and anybody who says otherwise simply doesn't have any common sense.

Goddamn WorldWide60, STFU! This topic may be old and we all have different opinions on the subject but no need to jump down this guys throat on every single one of his post!
I think it's rather shady that he's talking about installing "4g". What the hell is this loony talking about? That's the real issue here.
I guess there are two sides of the story its nice for people who have no knownledge how to do this but love android.

[Pet Peeve] ADB? What's that? Oops I bricked my Xoom, HALP!

If you don't have the first clue what ADB is or the intellectual curiosity it takes to learn about it you should not root your Xoom and definately should not try to put custom ROMS on it.
This has been a public service announcement.
Have to learn somehow.
If you dont know what adb is, this helps me out
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=879701
After you read it and you still havnt a clue what it is stop hacking or read it again and again.
Yes, it seems like there is a new "did I brick?" question each and every day.
Read first, read again, and make sure that you fully undestand the process first. It certainly saves time and frustration later. I am certainly no pro, but I was able to successfully unlock, root, install CWM, upgrade to 3.1, install all of BRD's kernels (now on 1.4.4), and set-up USB tether by reading the excellent information here on XDA.
I bet if more people made one click root methods this wouldn't be a problem...

It appears that a fair number of people tried real hard to brick their WiFi Xoom using the 3g section of one-click root.
Well, it took me to completely stuff my Xoom, to get how adb works. Yay!
Is there a way to flash official Moto images if my PC won't recognise my Xoom via the usb cable? I can get into CWR, and even reboot via adb, and that's it.
?
To be honest "you have to learn somehow" isn't a good defense, because you can do your research before actually trying and you'll probably avoid a lot of the problems that we see here.
It's not like the only choices are "do it blind"/"don't do it at all".
Some people learn the hard way, I'm a glowing example. Just make sure you read until you get really confused, grab a coffee, and read until it makes sense. If you don't understand what you are trying to do, but you want to give it a go, make sure your your prepared to have the worst happen.
BTW. I finally figured how to restore my system to factory! YAY!!!
Now the fun part of trying it all again....
Learning is great, however blindly trying something that you do not understand can be disastrous. Root, wiping, flashing, etc are all tasks that modify or rework the basic functions of a device. The devs who find these ways to help us do this are simply amazing, but it is NOT for everyone. Too often we see "Help!!!!, or What now???" because people simply see a thread and jump into rooting, and flashing without knowing what they are doing.
I am not an ADB expert, but I do believe that if you take your time and follow the posted instructions to the T, you will be fine. Again, people often report back, myself included that something doesn't work right or it is not doing what it should. After looking back I noticed that I skipped a step or did something out of order because I "thought I knew what I was doing".
I do caution people who are new to the XDA forums and new to Android. I would lurk for a but, gather some knowledge, then try a few things. If you have some issues, PM a member who you see has some good skills or knowledge in the area. This is a forum to help each other and too often it turns into a flame session.
Again, I am no expert I just try to offer some helpful advice.

Thanks for "getting" the spirit of my post. I wasn't trying to be mean at all just saying... there's so many "help me i screwed up my xoom" posts and what concerns me is that too often the advice given around here is "just go root and and load a custom rom". Well that sounds real attractive until you realize that you have no idea what's going on and your Xoom won't turn on. Then your heart sinks and you don't have many places to turn to, fortunately there is this forum but I just hope that people will take more time in the future to understand what it is that they are getting into or at the very least be absolutely willing to set fire to six to eight hundred bucks
there is no such thing as a bricked xoom. Ill prove it. Send me your bricked xoom along with a $100 PayPal unbricking fee. Ill send you back a restored factory state xoom. If Its truly bricked Ill send the xoom back to you and give you back $120 for the trouble. Any takers, contact me.

It wasn't really a defense just a "it's what happens" type of thing. Yes people can be smart and read up. But the reality is that most people won't (rather it be because of stubborness or lack of time). Something happens, then you have the "ok i gotta fix this, let me look up..." or "oh noes I brokes it. I'm going to join a forum to whine about it to the people so they can help me. I mean it's their job right?".
Thing is that rooting is most misunderstood to be the equivalent to jailbreaking. Just as jailbreaking is most misunderstood as only being useful for free games and apps. Some people just never want to look into what these type of things really are, because they don't care unless it's the means of getting something for free.

So how would you fix the partitioning of a xoom through cwm? That seems to be the most common "i bricked my xoom" thread.
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App
I feel that the best way to go about things is to read all you can about ADB, how the Xoom works and the specific root method or kernel you want to use. Then, if something goes wrong, search, search then search some more to try and find someone who had a similar problem as yours and try to learn what went wrong and how...then solve your own problem. If you are REALLY stuck, PM a user who seems to know what they are doing and appears to be patient, or post a question that includes all the details and ask politely for help. Take the knowledge you are given, add it to your own, then try to help other people in the same pickle.
If you look up the word EDUCATION in Websters, odds are the picture will look something like the paragraph above.
Personally I am not cheesed off too badly by the people who do things without sufficient knowledge. The ones that drive ME nuts are the ones who do that, then come into the forum and demand that someone hold their hand and personally walk them out of hell step by step...or better, blame the hardware/software and then angrily return it to the store, pretending that it just suddenly died.
