The problem is that my gps doesn't work, nor does my data. I'm really new at this and i was wondering if anyone knows an easy fix to the gps/data problem that I am having?
Any suggestions are welcome, but be advised that im still new to this.
Thanks in advance to any help.
Is there anyone that can help?
Oh btw I am running a dual boot of WP7 and Android. The WP7 is the first dft release and the Android is from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=944288
So is anyone out there that can help me?
The question is: what have you tried?
apn settings etc etc.... more info needed
The apn settings are as follows:
Name- t-Mobile US
APN- epc.tmobile.com
Proxy- 216.1551.165.050
Port- 8080
Username- none
Password- ****
Server- Wap.voicestream.com
MMSC- http://mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms/wapenc
MMS proxy- 216.155.165.50
MMS port- 8080
MCC- 310
MNC- 260
Aunthentication type- not set
APN type- default,supl,mms
I really don't know what else there is to know, but these are the settings that came with the build. I haven't tinkered with them at all.
UPDATE:
I just figured out that the gps does work but the data connection will just turn off. Now i dont know what would cause all of this. If some one can shed some insight on the fix for this i would be grateful. Some one please help?
Do you have data enabled over network?

thnx ill try them now, i already tried the first one and for some reason the data just turns off on its own when using the WP7 it wouldnt. I dont know if its something with the roaming or what. But thanks for your input
Ok, from what i have been trying it seems to me like this has something to do with the rom. I have searched the thread on how to dual boot and i havent fpund this issue brought to light.
Recently i've been pretty much copying other t-mobile phones' apn settings but with no avail. So if there is anybody out there that has had the same issue or found a fix, please contact me asap. This is getting on my nerves....

I know, everyone wants to tell me to search for it. But honestly, have you tried to "search" for it? When I go looking, I find everything but a decisive answer on how to do what I would like. SO if you'll bear with this LONG post. You'd not only be helping me, but others possibly. Sorry for the long posts... People hate reading them... I just want some simple help... without getting slapped down for not being able to find all the info I need from "searching" the forums. Pppppplease (says roger rabbit)
Not that I think it matters. I'm in the USA, running the HERO on a GSM Edge network (CellOne or CellularOne - aka: chinookwireless.net).
IF anyone out there knows how to get MMS working on CellOne (cellonenation.com) on this phone... (I LOVE YOU! and would pay a small amount of cash ($20) even to you if your info "works" via paypal - I'm an honest fellow... trust me you'll get the money).
I've tried to fanagle the settings on http://www.cellonenation.com/support/ they have a link near the bottom of the page "What if you have a smart phone? (CLICK HERE)" (multiple HTC phones, none are andriod). But with no success.
Current APN Settings on the HERO HTC that I've got working Phone, Internet and SMS are:
Name: internet.chinookwireless
APN: internet.chinookwiress.com ( this APN is all I need to get internet and SMS working )
Proxy: <not set>
Port: <not set>
Username: <not set>
Password: <not set>
Server: wapgw.chinookwireless.net
MMSC: http://mms.cellonenation.net/mms/
MMS Proxy: 204.181.155.195
MMS Port:8080
MMS Protocol:Wap 2.0
MCC: 310
MNC: 570

None of those MMS settings in with various combination changes seem to matter (still nothing works). I've contacted my provider and they won't support my phone as they don't sell it. MMS is turned on and part of my calling plan, I've confirmed that. The phone was ordered from Buy.COM vendor in the US it is factory unlocked. Help?
One final thing to request... The internet on CellOne is either REALLY, REALLY slow (up to 30 seconds just to load google.com (mobile version)) or there must be a better radio driver out there? How to on that would be grand as well.
Phone was purchased beginning of August 2009.
HTC Hero (the actual phone, not just the ROM)
Firmware: v1.5
Kernel version: 2.6.27-8dd6dee
Build number: 2.73.405.5 146733 (LATEST HTC FACTORY ROM - 9/11/09)
Software version: 1.0.0.A6288
HERO CVT SHIP S-ON
HBoot 1.76.007 (HERO10000)
MicroP-010f
Touch Panel-syn0104
RADIO-6.35.06.18
I've "rooted" my phone (using "Recovery-RA-HERO-v1.2.2.img" and "flashrec-20090815.apk" - as I got told I couldn't install "flashrec-1.1.2-20090909.apk" by the phone when I tried to install it), and also used the SDK adb to push and allow permissons for su and superuser.apk.
The instructions (and videos) on theunlockr.com seemed to help me with that, and I'm a total NOOB. As now that's where I'm at. Not much further.
Why don't I try a custom ROM? Well when I did that (Madacco's Custom ROM - http://android.modaco.com/content/h...2/03-09-hero-roms-radios-in-update-zip-format )... my SMS quit working all together. Since that's a "pretty nice feature" to have... I stepped back and went to the manufacturers ROM update that was just released. It seemed I got all the "speed" of the recent Madacco ROM and my SMS worked. I am willing to even try another custom ROM as long as I don't loose functionality of what I've already got to solve my MMS problem...
Help please
hello,
two things
1)I've contacted my provider and they won't support my phone as they don't sell it <= you can get a mms cellphone who is selled by this carrier, to find out were is the problem with technical support help.
2) use an other phone to make some tests : send an mms to your mobile with a standard mobile to test e/r. if it work in the two ways, it must be the mobile settings.
try that and come back to tell us
(sorry, i'm french and not very good at shakespeare's language )

Yes, that is two separate APNs. Mainly because wapgw.chinookwireless.net looks like an APN to me, And no network in the world that i have seen has anything in the server field!!
And yes, you DO need to set the APN Types.
Unlucky that you live in the country of the LATE MOBILES>... apples owns your ASS and you are screwed, apple and AT&T cannot even get that right.....
Sorry in that kind of mood.
thank you

Rooted HERO Thx
Hello,
I have rooted my Airtel HTC HERO.
My problem was, i couldnt start the mobile in recovery mode from command line of my windows[fastboot boot recovery.img command]. so i booted my mobile in recovery mode[home+power button] and then i used the adp command to root my mobile as given in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=543571.
Regards,
Muthu
go ask in that thread then, instead of trying to hijack an old dead one regarding a totally different topic.
Same Issue Windows Mobile 6 Pro
I hope there's still enough life left in this thread. I cannot get any settings to work for MMS on Cellular One MT. I've used all the cellonenation pdf's and all the access settings that I've found on this thread and other similar threads. Still not quite sure what I'm doing wrong. I'm running a somewhat odd phone, a Techfaith Cynthia 850 (sitronics 850). Everything seems to be mostly stock wm6, but still having mms issues. Cellone says it's turned on, but none of the settings I've tried have done anything.
Any suggestions anyone can give will be welcomed.
Hi,
I have tried many SD build available in here, but some how I am unable to get my 3G working.
Currently I am using HTC HD2 with build PPC_SHIFTPDA SERIES (RAM) Edition
(28.Jan).
I am able to see 3G icon, but all it does is transmit data arrow blinking, no receiving data.
To clarify I am currently at Manila using Globe.
any help will be greatly appreciated.
Have you checked your APN settings? That's normally the problem when you can't get a data connection.
Hi Thanks, yes I have checked APN.
Same APN settings works on my Windows Mobile
Guys any help will be appreciated.. please help

I know I had to hunt forever to find these so I thought I would post them to make it easier for anyone flashing custom firmware. Every time I reflash or do a factory reset it deletes my APN settings and apparently AT&T's technical support doesn't know how to set them up. They actually referred me to Motorola. Anyways, here they are.
You can also use the attached zip along with APN Manager from the market. I don't recall who posted the original zip so thanks anonymous internet savior.
[EDIT: Now attached is a flashable CWM. Haven't tried it yet so I'm not responsible for anything.]

Thanks, lost my APNs after flashing Alien #3 and this information was very useful!
thanks! I also flashed from alien #3 and it only gave me AT&T 310 410 as the APN.
Thankss youuu
THANK YOU so much for this listing! Someone sticky this if it hasn't been, APN listings FTW. Huge help.

Just what I was looking for. Thanks!
I'm on 2.3.4, unlocked and rooted - but the APNs are all locked for me. How do you unlock them?

Thanks a ton !! This saved me bigtime !! Alien V4 only gave me 1 apn (AT&T 310 410), and this restored all of the stock ones.
Only question is, should I select 'att us' or 'att us hsdpa' ?
Thanks !
I default to hsdpa, but both should work fine in theory
Tune it to the HSDPA I have seen better results with this setting but yes either one can be ok.. I just prefer knowing that I do have HSDPA so assume you have the same thing Cheers..
has anyone run speed tests to confirm better speeds? I have att and att tethering apns, does the hsdpa have better download or is it already intergrated into the one I have?
It should be the same. You can got to speedtest.net to confirm. When you enter the URL from your phone it will redirect you to the Android market. At that point you will be able to download the speedtest app. You may also be able to just search for it in the market.

I run the speed test on mine I was getting about 1.5mbps down and 1.0 up with wap.Cingular, and with hsdpa I got 3.2 down and up. That fairly comparable to what others are seeing? Havent tried it while connected to wifi yet...
Does this mean I will not use HSDPA when I tether?
What is the purpose of the tether APN?
reactivating data
since yesterday when i was trying to refresh my contacts, i managed to mess up my wireless data connection. i am unable to reconnect. i have reflashed and reinstalled all apns...rebooted phone etc, but cant get wireless data back. any thoughts on why?

The ATT-Tether APN wil flag the traffic as requiring a tethering plan. If the phone is un-hacked this is how ATT blocks the tethering for those who have not bought it.
The key is
APN Boadband.
which can only be used if you bought the tethering plan.
While the generally available option
APN PHONE
Is what everybody can use.

Exactly, the tether is specifically for tethering. From what I saw when I had the tethering plan was that it still had the same speed but it connects to a different system that is designed for tethering. I think the main difference is so that it doesn't route your computer to WAP sites. It uses isp.cingular instead of wap.cingular.

Why aren't people just using sql editor to disable the entitlement check? I do with every rom and have never gotten any kind of letter or problem.

Check your MMS settings to see if they are correct for your carrier

I'm using Att and just have 'automatically select preferred network'
I had the problem last month. Try typing phone number manually no dashes or brackets. If it goes through just use the contacts cleanup App and fix your contacts.
Mike
have you checked the actual APN settings for our carrier? I have had it in the past when the settings get messed up.
Settings>Wireless&Networks>Mobile Networks>Access Point Names>select your APN which I assume is called ATT (or maybe Cingular by the looks of the settings I found on net) and check the settings are correct, mainly MMSC for MMS.
From looking on the net the settings should look something like this
Name: Cingular 410
APN: wap.cingular
Proxy: <Not set>
Port: <Not set>
Username: [email protected]
Password: CINGULAR1

Worth a check.
Thank you. Those settings did it. Wonder how they got messed up?!
I copied and saved them.
Thanks again

I can't send or receive MMS. Usually hasn't been all that bad because most people send me dumb **** anyway, and I pretty much only send MMS if I'm requested to send a picture of something. Either way though, I spent the whole half a stack to avoid dealing with Verizon/losing a carrier that's been good to me, so I'd like to have everything working.
If it has any relevance, here's my APN settings

My 3G always works flawlessly... but I feel like I've done something wrong... some tell me to set the APN type to default, supl, some say leave it blank... seems that regardless of the change it doesn't allow my MMS to work right.
