Looking For EC05 Stock ODIN With NO Root - Epic 4G General

I am looking for the stock EC05 odin so that I can use Odin to go back to stock when need be. I can only find eb13.
Also did Samsung ever release the EC05 package from their website like they did with eb13?

You could Odin DI18 and the OTA to EC05:

or EC05 Stock here:

Use the megaupload link I posted and this Odin. You put your phone in download mode (power on holding 1 key) uncheck f.reset box in Odin, put the victory_8g.pit file in pit box and EC05 file downloaded in PDA box, then connect USB cable to phone and a COM box should appear in Odin, hit start.

there wasnt a stock odin ec05 released, which means if you find one it was made by someone not with sprint or samsung, which means its not COMPLETELY stock.. so if you want completely stock, odin back and ota..

That is probably one of the android central made odin tars for ec05. At this time we still don't have a real stock tar to use to go back to stock.

Yes, you are correct. I just read the whole article and it is indeed prerooted and from Android Central.

I feel you on that. I'm just not so sure that the GS2 will be carried on Sprint. I really would rather not have some kinda variant of the GS2.

What I mean is, we've got an EC05 TAR for you. To keep that little birdy from being brutally murdered, I've repacked it - so it's not a .md5, but rest assured... it is the 100% stock, Samsung-Sprint EC05 TAR. It's uploading as we speak.

If you use Odin, it will overwrite EVERYTHING.. It does not matter what you have.. You can have a blank rom for all it cares.. It wipes and flashes... Thats it.
After ODIN you will have a STOCK phone, running whatever firmware you flashed the rom with..
Does that help any more?

If you save them to your Google account then no they will be automatically synced when you re-connect to GApps.
But seriously I explained this all to you already, go check back in the official di18.tar.md5 thread and you will see my response. You keep jumping back and forth between different threads asking the same exact questions repeatedly, so pick one and stick with it.
You're question has been answered beyond any doubt, so there really is no reason for this thread to still be open.
I'm not trying to be a ****, but that bar up on the top of the page is for searching the forums, so next time use that first and if you cannot find ANY information about your issue, THEN create a new thread.
on your contacts you can also save/export them to the sd card, go to contacts, menu/more/ then you can import or export them.

OK excellent that helps immensely. In the same thread as the .tar, there is a modem update tar that will reflash the modem to DI18, and overwrite anything that you could have done. There is also a flashable .zip version floating around here somewhere, do a search for "DI18 Modem" and you should find it. Try these two options and let me know what happens, feel free to pm me as well if you need more in-depth details!

Of course, I would recommend making sure the phone is as stock as possible. (un-rooted)
It is always best to make a memory backup in cdmaws before you make any changes this way you can revert them in case something goes wrong. Do you remember what nvitem you were writing to? in your dialer, try ##786# and select reset, enter your msl and confirm. See if it helps.
Actually i uploaded the wrong file to the phone and over wrote all of them with ones from a evo =\ .

[Q] An update.zip to go from DK28 to DI18?

(sorry if this has been covered in other threads, I searched and couldn't find it)
I found it on androidforums listed as a modified update.zip to bring DK28 phones back to DI18, but I'm not sure what it actually does. It's only 5mb, not ~100mb like the DK28 update.zip
Does anyone have an experience with it?

I believe the first link on there, you can attempt to try renaming it update.zip. Im not sure if it works without clockwork tho.. Give it a shot the worst thing that can happen is it will say aborted and wont mess up anything.
I'll give it a shot. Does it completely wipe the phone like Odin, or just change the firmware?

I think it just changes the firmware, i dont think it wipes anything, ive been flashing around roms on 2.1 and flash back to stock a lot and i never lose my data even when i wipe it..

besides the one click root, with clockwork, i dont think so, besides the long adb commands, which i dont know where that post is at but thats a lot of work.... But if you put clockwork on you can take it off with a simple flash of the samsung recovery zip also in the link above.
Thanks for the info.
Why is it so much more complicated to roll back than it is to go forward to a new version?

Well, not really complicated, just a few things you have flash to remove all the rooted stuff, if you use odin its still a lot of steps and more risky of bricking, i constantly see, new threads of people using odin by not following all the instructions and bricking there devices.
That's why I'm really hoping I can avoid having to use Odin to go to DI18 to get the official OTA update next week.

Dude, just look for the stock DI18 rom, rename it to update.zip, boot into recovery and flash it. That's all. I've done this several times before (although i'm now on a solid 2.2 Froyo rom).
It's a full rom, not a 5MB whatever..
It's that easy, and I don't clockwork recovery or anything?
Why does anyone bother with Odin then?
I think I have the DI18 rom, is 158,159,706 bytes the right file size?

You don't neef a pit at all. The pit is for mapping. When flashing a full rom tar the mapping is built into the tar

It seems to be working fine for many here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=922428
Edit:
Back to my original questions:
1) Is there a DI18 Odin (modem.tar + .pit) flash?
-or-
2) Do I need the .pit file if I am flashing modem only?
3) If I do need .pit, can I take the DI18 modem.bin file and inserted into a DK17 or DK28 modem Odin package? (I tried this, but it didn't work, don't know why. Is there a different procedure for this?)
1) Take the modem from a di18 odin image. Just open the tarball with 7-zip or winrar.
2) No, but it doesn't hurt to use it anyway. And all the pits are basically the same, with some minor differences in partition sizes. The victory pit is the latest and works with all previous odin-able images.
3) There may be some signing or a checksum needed to create a package that odin will flash.
Question for the OP-
Why do you want to flash the di18 modem? The dk28 modem seems to work fine for everyone. Is there some difference or specific reason why you want that modem?
People are having random 4G/Wimax drops using DK28 modem (mine does this too). It has been speculated that the DI18 modem works better with 4G. I am also suffering the Status 7 error trying to update the modem with CMR 2.5.1, so 0din is the only way to go to get around the status 7 error.
I am also looking for the modem/pit file to use. Can someone detail how to do this with the full di18 rom to just flash modem only?
Thanks!
I have not done this so someone correct me if I'm wrong, but if you open the full DI18 tar file (with 7zip or winrar) you will see modem.bin as a file inside. Copy that out of the tar file into a folder or your desktop. Then in Odin, select "Phone" and select the modem.bin you just extracted.
victory_8G_100528.pit or s1_odin_20100512.pit should work for your pit file which probably came zipped with your odin download. If not do a search for one.
I was able to flash the DI18 modem file using the .BIN from the official full, and the .PIT from Odin (victory). Make sure you select "Phone" and I also deselected "F Reset Time".
Baseband version shows: D700.0.5S.DI18
Running stock DK28. Lets see if this 4g is faster now
EDIT: No service now... anybody have any ideas what could cause this?
I ended up reverting. Was not able to get 3g service, but strangely 4G was working fine.

See my link from post #10. It seems like DI18 solves some random data drop issues. For me, [I believe] the radio locks up randomly, causing the phone to reboot. I am just curious to try DI18 to see if it helps. Despite the notion that DI18 radios to not work with DK28 ROMs, there are a few people in that link that are using DI18 and loving it.

the answer is in your question.
That means use the software update checker in settings. Though when I odined to DI01 the software update popped up immediately. I'm surprised it didn't for you.
Didn't for me, and when I check it just sits on "please wait" and then goes away and nothing happens.

I think what everybody is trying not to say is (settings, about phone, update, check new.) Rock on!
Edit: reboot, wifi off, then above steps should work fine.

Yeah I realized that after a few minutes. I'm just not used to updates with this phone, so I didn't even know there was an check for updates option. Didn't work though.
Whether it comes tomorrow or not, I have my bloatless Froyo and I'm happy with it.
EDIT: Wtf? I definitely clicked reply on a DIFFERENT THREAD... Oh well?

how did you manage to have a phone with voodoo on it when you seem to know nothing about the phone at all? And did you even take 5 seconds to do a search before asking things like "where can I get di01"? Geez, put in a little effort... or at least say thanks when someone does the legwork FOR YOU and gives you a link.
