Yea i understand that but my ? is since my phone is di18 already if i use this file and odin to update it.... will it work correctly? will odin install the di18 again since my phone is already at di18 or do i have to roll it back to a earlier version then use odin to di18?

If you use Odin, it will overwrite EVERYTHING.. It does not matter what you have.. You can have a blank rom for all it cares.. It wipes and flashes... Thats it.
After ODIN you will have a STOCK phone, running whatever firmware you flashed the rom with..
Does that help any more?

yep all i needed to no thank you very much sir. and will my contacts be deleted as well? i assume yes since you mentioned everything will be wiped. thanks again

If you save them to your Google account then no they will be automatically synced when you re-connect to GApps.
But seriously I explained this all to you already, go check back in the official di18.tar.md5 thread and you will see my response. You keep jumping back and forth between different threads asking the same exact questions repeatedly, so pick one and stick with it.
You're question has been answered beyond any doubt, so there really is no reason for this thread to still be open.
I'm not trying to be a ****, but that bar up on the top of the page is for searching the forums, so next time use that first and if you cannot find ANY information about your issue, THEN create a new thread.

on your contacts you can also save/export them to the sd card, go to contacts, menu/more/ then you can import or export them.

[Q] How do I go back to stock JFD?

Hello,
Sorry if this has been answered, but I couldnt find anything when I searched.
I am trying to go back to stock on my Vibrant just like when I first got it out the box.
I flashed the unofficial update JI2 and then the JI6 through Odin, but now I want to go back to stock to see if I get the update from Tmobile or just do it through Kies.
In order for me to do this I have to go to stock and I cant find or know to to do it. I seem to be getting this whole Odin thing so if I can do it this way it would be great. Please let me know. Thanks.
I search Development section, but none of those worked for me. Not sure if Im doing something wrong.
I am no expert by any mean just a noobie but I downloaded the files on the link posted in I believe it was the Development section that was the JDF Odin stock rom etc. Look for it posted in there or search it and it will come up. I used Odin and it went smoothly and then I updated to ji6.I believe the link below is what you are looking for.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=734475
Here is the link again for some reason it shows up when I save it but when I exit out and come back it is gone
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=734475
Ok, so I did find this one, but I had no luck!
So did you click on the last one that says All 3 Files?
Or did you click them one by one?
you should try a custom rom before going back to stock!

Either way you want to do it. The 3 files-in-one is a smaller download if that matters to you. But they're all the same...
Also, in the Vibrant Bible, there's a link to Odin1.3 which worked well when I had to go from JI5 (via Kies) back to JFD for the Kies Mini update to JI6. Just fyi, I'm running Win7 Pro 64-bit, not sure what your setup is like.
When you say you had no luck, did you mean you couldn't get into download mode or Odin didn't work for you? For Odin to work you have to make sure the ID:COM in the upper left is populated with a number. Otherwise Odin is essentially saying that it doesn't see your phone, most likely due to driver issues.
Thanks for the help! I finally got it to work!

Why would you want the OTA if you already flashed it? Now you may run the risk of soft bricking after accepting the update... Maybe it's just past me at this early hour, but can't figure out why you wanna do this.
posting to save this thread to refer back to later
The reason I wanted to try Kies OTA is because of the missing Market apps and also because I was having lag problems with the flashed version.
Actually everything went smooth after I figured out how to do it.
Unfortunately there are still missing apps, But my phone runs alot smoother.

stuck at "vibrant" screen

what do i do btw im in 8th grade
Did you get the update from Tmobile? A msg at the top saying an update is available, and did you go ahead and download and install it?
If so, and after it tried to reboot it got stuck at the Vibrant screen... here's a fix... follow the instructions, very easy. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=803492
If you don't want to attempt that then go to TMO and tell them and you'll be sent a new Vibrant
yes and i posred this today why does it say yesterday

Try pulling the battery out for a few minutes and put it back in. Then wait for more than 10 minutes for it to come up. If it doesn't, post back.
I would really use odin 1.30 instead of the one in that thread.
Yeah, once someone sent me the links to exactly where the drivers, PIT and .tar files are, I found Odin (1.3) to be SUPER quick and easy, in terms of getting back to stock and un-bricking my phone.
I searched here and google but can't find a download for odin 1.3.
Can someone post a link plz? Ty in advance

Mine is the same as him. I got the tmobile message on my vibrant and i hit update. then it said update failed. Now my phone is stuck at the logo screen. My latest nanoid backup was 10 days ago and that doesn't cut it. i have everything on my phone. is there any way to fix this without wiping the data on my phone? The only thing i did to my phone was root, segmented battery % and i used the evo blackbar metamorph.
This happened to me today. TMO sucks as a company i know i worked for them they are a bunch of morons.....anyway i digress.
Um what i did was use odin i belive the link is in the link posted. Every file u need is in there and it will take awhile to download. Once downloaded just flash it back to stock then flash it to JI6 if you want.
IMO i think anyone who gets the update should decline it and download via odin. Seriously i didn't add any custom roms cuz i wanted to be legit and get updates normally but i forgot im dealing with tmo. Flashing Bionixs now, screw being legit.

Did you lose any data when you used odin?
If you just use odin to install the update then no, you won't lose data.
If you're one of the unfortunate ones to try the ota update and got soft bricked then you will be flashing the original firmware and will lose data

[Q] An update.zip to go from DK28 to DI18?

(sorry if this has been covered in other threads, I searched and couldn't find it)
I found it on androidforums listed as a modified update.zip to bring DK28 phones back to DI18, but I'm not sure what it actually does. It's only 5mb, not ~100mb like the DK28 update.zip
Does anyone have an experience with it?
use this one bro: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=786266

The only DI18 update.zip file is for going from DI07 -> DI18 (hence why it is only 5mb)

I believe the first link on there, you can attempt to try renaming it update.zip. Im not sure if it works without clockwork tho.. Give it a shot the worst thing that can happen is it will say aborted and wont mess up anything.
I'll give it a shot. Does it completely wipe the phone like Odin, or just change the firmware?

I think it just changes the firmware, i dont think it wipes anything, ive been flashing around roms on 2.1 and flash back to stock a lot and i never lose my data even when i wipe it..
Alternatively, is there a way to get Clockworkmod Recovery onto my DK28 phone?

besides the one click root, with clockwork, i dont think so, besides the long adb commands, which i dont know where that post is at but thats a lot of work.... But if you put clockwork on you can take it off with a simple flash of the samsung recovery zip also in the link above.
Thanks for the info.
Why is it so much more complicated to roll back than it is to go forward to a new version?

Well, not really complicated, just a few things you have flash to remove all the rooted stuff, if you use odin its still a lot of steps and more risky of bricking, i constantly see, new threads of people using odin by not following all the instructions and bricking there devices.
That's why I'm really hoping I can avoid having to use Odin to go to DI18 to get the official OTA update next week.

Dude, just look for the stock DI18 rom, rename it to update.zip, boot into recovery and flash it. That's all. I've done this several times before (although i'm now on a solid 2.2 Froyo rom).
It's a full rom, not a 5MB whatever..
It's that easy, and I don't clockwork recovery or anything?
Why does anyone bother with Odin then?
I think I have the DI18 rom, is 158,159,706 bytes the right file size?
You'll still need to odin in the di18 modem. Cwm can't flash a modem

Ofcourse you lose everything. Re-install them back. What i like to do is take screenshots of all my home screens (i'm anal about which apps go on what home screens ) so i know easily what to reinstall.

Is There a Method?

I've searched long and hard but i still haven't found one. Is there a method, zip, file, or anything that you can flash using CW3 in order to return to a stock, non-rooted, Sprint accepted version of Android? (EB13, DI18, etc) Basically, just a way to return to stock without the use of Odin. If not, could one be created?

I think everything would work except for the modem because you have to be on a specific version of android.

You cannot overwrite the modem in Clockwork. Flashing a recovery that way is iffy at very best. So what you want to do? Just plain not happening. /thread

totally new to this

Hey Guys,
Iam trying to flash my samsung vibrant to a new ROM. But what if I wont like it and want to go back to an original firmware my phone came with? I tried searching answers but there are multiple ones and I cant understand it so figured I ask here. Can I somehow backup my current version or download it so I can go back to just stock firmware that the phone came out the box?
Thanks for your help
You can make a back up with rom manager or you can learn to odin back to stock. Check the stickies or search for more info.

thanks, tried rom manager but cant get it to backup need to look into odin backup
Odin doesn't do backups, you can flash back your stock Froyo rom using it though.
Search in here how to flash back to stock throthroug odin so u can download the proper ROM

In order to make a backup, you need to be rooted, in order to root you need to have an update.zip file on your phone in order for the file to work you need to be on 2.1 firmware, you can probably find the file stickied in the development section, or q/a section.

Odin is the ticket. It doesn't do a backup - it restores your phone to it's fresh out of the box state. There are 2 files you need, but they're easy to find.
But blaqr0d is going to be right - once you start flashing you will only want to go back to stock if you encounter a problem.
Here's a vid I think is very helpful.
OP, please read my stickies in my signature. You will learn a lot and not waste others time.
