I've been having this problem too, though only on certain encrypted networks it seems. I use WEP at home and run into a network error message almost every day. Have yet to see this error pop up on an open unencrypted network.
My work uses a WPA connection and never seems to have any issues, so I'm going to switch my home network to WPA and see if that helps. I did hear the 2.3.3 update addresses some wifi issues... so maybe it's just a matter of time and an update.
Get the issue here on the Market. only after awhile of searching through it.
Not a network/wifi issue, seems a few of us have the issue. Think that points more to Market or the way the handset communicates to it. No issue with browsing the web or downloading anything etc.
Doesn't bother me to much when i get the error i just move up and then back down and it loads more apps/games.

For the past couple of weeks, I've been having issues keeping an internet connection. To describe, I have push email set up so I'm always connected. I seem to get emails fine and I always have an "e" above my signal strength to show that I'm connected. But When I actually want to go to a website, it will connect but after I click on a few links, the next link will just hang. I'm using Opera mini, and after a few pages I get the network test page. Sometimes it will come back and say "you have a working network", and other times it just won't start again.
I was thinking it was just my service (T-Mobile USA) because I use a proxy configuration that's not really ment for full internet access. But I noticed that I was having the same issue when connected to wifi networks. Then I tried PIE and I had similar issues connecting with it as well.
I did just replace my housing. That's the only major change I can think of. I hope this isn't a hardware issue. Anyway, emails still come through but surfing forums has been pretty much shut down. Anyone have any idea of what it could be?
BTW, I've been using the same ROM for over 7 months (O2 Premium Plus) and never had this issue before. No new programs installed since problem either.
Hi folks,
I have noticed an irritating, intermittent connection problem with a couple of XDA phones I've had. Specifically, I now have an HTC Touch Pro, and most of the time the internet works fine. Sometimes though, when I try to connect, nothing happens for a very long time, and eventually an 'unable to connect' message is displayed. Usually, I use Opera 9.5, which was pre-installed. But the problem also exists if I use the standard IE and also with Skyfire too. The message is different depending on which browser I'm using of course. But if one won't connect, none of them will, so I don't think it's a problem with one of those browsers. I should point out that when the browsers do connect, they stay connected. this problem only occurs when I open the browser and it tries to connect. I did have the same problem on my previous XDA device - O2 XDA Trion. I have found that if I perform a soft-reset, the internet will then start up nice and quickly on the first attempt, which I'm guessing suggests it isn't a network problem. Does anyone else have this experience? Does anyone know what might be causing it? Of all the pieces of software I've installed, there are few, if any, that I've had installed on both devices, other than the programs which are preinstalled. The only commonality between my previous device and my current one is the OS and the SIM card.
Are you speaking about your HTC PRO Wifi connnection or the EDGE/GPRS/HSDPA connection?
I also have issues with the data line not being connected or running the way you would think. I then pop over to wifi and all is good. I normally just turn off the data connection and reconnect.
Also, do you keep the connection permanently on data mode or do you let the phone log on for you?
My theory (this happens to me sometimes too) is that my phone connects to the tower and then gets timed out because of no data activity. The phone doesn't figure it out and simply shows a connection still. Then when you try to get data the phone is confused as to why the digital connection it thought it had was no longer active.
Props to me for making up **** and having it sound 2Legit2Quit.
I am talking about my EDGE/GPRS/HSDPA connection, and, now you mention it, yes, I think wi-fi works when EDGE/GPRS/HSDPA is not working. I'm not sure about that though. I'll have a go when it happens again. Which it will, very soon, because it happens all the time. It's annoying.
Thanks for your ideas!
PS: I didn't respond to your question about data mode. I'm not really too sure what you mean by that. I didn't know there was a data mode! In the Touchflo3D settings, under communication, there is a switch labelled 'Data connection. Turn off data connection.' But if I do turn that off, it just turns it straight back on again. I'm not sure that's what you meant though.
Hi guys.
I have some strange (i think anyway) WIFI behaviour that drives my crazy, im looking for some help resolving it.
My WIFI seems to go into hibernation/sleep even though i explictly set if to never off in the WIFI settings. I notice this problem because my exchange sync fails constantly (only on WIFI, on 3G everthing is perfect). I notice this problem occours when the phone hasnt been used in a while.
After its been in hibernation mode it very slow to get connection again. I open a browser and need to press "refresh" numerous times (about 15/30 sec. i think before this WIFI i "back").
Any views on this problem? hardware related? software related?
My device is running custom ROM, custom Radio, Rooted ect.
Thanks in advanced.
Happens on stock Rom too actually. Happens to the x10 mini and mini pro too actually. Software issue?

**** phone happens to me when I'm in my bed room lose connection all the time and when you want it to connect agian you have to go into settings and WiFi and then it starts looking for it in steed of re-connecting Its self
Seem crazy if this is normal behaviour..
It makes the push email notification useless when im on WIFI. I need to manually sync to test for new emails (and even the sync fails, until the WIFI connection is restored..), need to wait 30 sec to go online, check facebook, twitter etc.
Can anyone else confirm/unconfirm this is normal WIFI behaviour?
Hah, mine doesnt find any wifi hotspot not the mine nor the one of my neighbors
while my HD2 connects easily to all of them, also having bluetooth problems anyone can confirm the buetooth and wifi of the phone are bundled?
calling htc tomorrow
I also have a problem: when I enable the n-setting on my router while I am having a WPA2 encryption and the SSID broadcast is disabled, my DHD doesn't find the access point. When I disable the n-setting, my DHD does find the access point

Hi all,
I have been having and ongoing issue with the wifi connection on my Xperia X8. When I download a large file (20mb+) such as a podcast via Google listen the wifi will drop and reset. Sometimes, but not always, the wifi will be totally disabled at this point. The wifi will usually drop somewhere between 5mb and 25mb of data downloaded. Google listen throws up a time out error at this point. I have to say that it feels like a process is kicking in and dumping the connection rather than it being dependent on the amount of data. It will also occasionally do the same thing when using other apps that use the wifi (I have noticed it when using Weatherbug and also Words With Friends), although I have not noticed it doing this when using Opera Mobile.
I have done a full reinstall on the phone once already and it continued to have the same issue. After the reinstall I only installed Google Listen to rule out any conflicts. It also happens more frequently on my wifi at home (BT home hub) than on the wifi at work (Sky netgear). I did not experience any issues prior to the last Android update.
The reason I have decided to post this is because I think I may have stumbled upon why this is happening and it may help someone with more knowledge than I to get to the bottom of the problem. Today I turned of sync and the problem vanished. I have downloaded multiple podcasts today with no issues at all. There has been no other change to the phone.
Has anyone else been suffering similar issues?
The phone is also standard. Not rooted.
Cheers.
Greetings gentlemen,
I'm having a problem with my wireless network.
Whenever I try to load Facebook app(the official), it will just stay there and do nothing. At the same time, there'll be a floating tile(don't know whatit's called, but that lil' black square at the bottom screen) that says "cannot load Facebook"(or something like that).
Facebook is just an example. It happens in a bunch of other apps, such like GLoft games; I cannot download the freekin' SD data for the games, because the download will be aborted every 30 seconds.
I've tried different wifi fix apps, but just as I suspected, they don't work.
This isn't a rom/kernel related problem.
My internet is 8mb, and it's pretty fast on my computer.
I'd appreciate if someone answered
And my phone is SE Arc S if that matters. Using DiMiui rom and DooMKernel for Miui. But again, I know it's not a kernel related issue.
(I don't know should I have posted this to Q/A forum or here...)
hi
I had the same issue on my xperia neo. Problem was not the phone, it was the router. cant remeber anymore but did they change the password protection type of my router or something like that? that solved the problem
btw. i know how it feels to download gameloft game with unstable wifi -,-
Yeah, I thought the same. I'll try tuning up my router a little bit. I hope I won't mess it up completely, cause I don't know a crap about computers(obviously I can change wireless key, but that doesn't seem to be the case)
If I remember right, WPA2-AES is the best possible encryption mode, and I'm using it now.
I don't understand why, but switching my htc thunderbolt to a fixed IP address solved wifi problems. There is also a wifi fixer app that keeps it alive and works for some.
