Our msm7200A/7201A support TV-Out, maybe HTC (that build our kovsky aka xperia x1) didn't want to give SE an advantage against his phone and did not connected 35mm to video out
We will need soldering? I love soldering

Ow what are you doin' so it can work, Big Bang Holic?

How could you do that??? Tell us please....hehehe...

any news?

i start to think, that tv-out still impassible on xperia x1

Yeah, the OP hasn't been here for over 2 weeks now.

And what exactly would be the purpose of TV out? The Movies that can be played smoothly on an Xperia X1 are of far to low quality to watch them on a tv screen. And for everything else I don't see the point.

TV out or not

Hello ,

No, it hasn't a TV out.
Though I don't have one, SE already confirmed this.

SlingCatcher will give the Xperia X1 and just all mobile 6.1 device with video capture TV OUT capabilities. By having USB mass storage and a formatted FAT32 micro SD Card on Your Xperia X1 you should be good to go. The SlingCatcher has it's own USB port, it will send the capture video on your Xperia X1 to your living room giant screen HD TV.........!

Yes, it will work with the SlinCatcher providing all compontents parts are first installed on your Xperia X1, but you really don't have to worry about TV OUT on the Touch HD, because it comes with TV OUT.
Hi, sorry that I want to refresh this thread, but I still wonder how I could manage to view my movies on a tv, using my xperia although I pretty know that it hasn't a specific tv-out.. I looked now in the internet about the slingcatcher, but this would be nothing for me. First of all, its much to big, I wanna this to be "portable", to watch my movies in hotels, so I won't carry such a big box with me everywhere.. And second, its much to expensive, but I rather say in this point, this isn't important yet. What I imagine is just a program to use the usb-port as a tv-out, just that every information for the screen is showed on the tv. Would something like that be possible? Are there already such programs? I would pay 30 to 50$ for that, but 300$ for a big box to carry everywhere is just to much for me.. And I want just to carry a cable with me, that would be awesome^^ so, have you any ideas? Thanks a lot^^ greez, cad
as far as i know not 100% then xperia dont have usbHost (at least only 2 HTC made devices have that suppport)
and without usbHost a device cant use other usb devices at all
another option would be a bluetooth tvout thingy recall something about there being such devices sounds expensive though
never say no to the tv-out feature!
take a closer look to the x1`s usb connector and you will see, that the
backside is plated, too!
that could be 4 every thing! the hardware looks like htc raphael, excluding wvga screen.
but prozessor and so on is exactly the same. okay, a little bit more of ram. but that`s it.
no stereo speakers, no other cam, no hardware video encoder.
and don`t forget, a hardware fbas connector, for example, isn`t really required, there are some other possibillities to get video out over usb/network/wifi/BT2.0!
don`t forget vnc style tools. and vnc styled hardware dongles (usb/wifi for ex.) in future. nobody knows.

Will this cable work?
http://wmpoweruser.com/?p=730
probably not as this is for a different phone.
if the chipset for tv isnt built in there is nothing you can do.
nbokia lg etc build it in even in their cheaper phones but htc only seems to have tried tv out with a small selection of phones and discontinued it in the n1.

Does the LiveDock Multimedia Station support HDMI output on the Xperia Play?

I have done my research and can't seem to find a solid answer, has anyone had the chance to test one, or recieved an official response from Sony? Cheers
Nope, consumer versions of the Xperia Play do not support HDMI out, even on the LiveDock.
The only Xperia Play phones that support HDMI out are dev phones.
The current dock (DK300) has no HDMI out support but I believe there is a new dock coming sometime soon that will support it.

yep that's the one! from the youtube videos it seems to just use the micro usb port for everything (including tv-out functionality) so I can't see why it wouldn't work, but I haven't found any confirmation that it does...

@ dousan. As you can see in this video. It defo only uses the USB port for HDMI out. Not the HDMI port like we was talking about in that other thread. The HDMI port on the Arc is on the top like the power button on the play. The dock has the HDMI port on the back
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xhr6AuPLwmU&feature=related
But that is not how it connects to HDMI. The dock does not support HDMI. It is the phone hardware.
As in the other thread there are photos of how they connected it to the TV.
The USB device connects to the device, the charger connects to the device and uses that same cable. The then connect to the HDMI on the TV via the HDMI port on the phone.
The Dock is not an all in one solution.

Do you think there's a way to spoof the phone to bypass the 'buffer' the dock creates? I don't see why SE didn't just put the hdmi port on the PLAY.

This has been discussed before on the official Sony Ericsson forums. The consumer release Xperia Play does not and will not have HDMI out capabilities with or without the LiveDock.

Thanks, so this has been officially confirmed? Does this phone use a different type of micro usb port to the other xperia phones then? Is it a hardware or software limitation (ie could a hack be produced)?

Yes but recently the same marketing division said :
I can confirm that the following is available for the Xperia Play based on your question's once the update has been released.
Enhanced camera capabilities from Sony including 3D sweep panorama
The software upgrade enables consumers to turn their Xperia smartphone into a mini-mobile PC by connecting USB peripherals (mouse, keyboard or game controller) to Sony Ericsson LiveDockā„¢ multimedia station. Connect the smartphone to a TV via HDMI to get a big screen experience
I can also advise that there are currently no plans for HD 720p recording for the Xperia Play.

It's a hardware limitation, they took it out of the specifications before release.
The LiveDock would basically act as a pass-through, not a hardware solution.
It is possible to get video through the USB port, but at very low refresh rates, like 1 frame per second.
ASM is one tool:
http://code.google.com/p/android-screen-monitor/
And there are other remote desktop applications that can produce video out through USB with slow refresh rates.

Calm down. It's no big deal. I did follow your pictures but wondered if there was another way to connect. As i thought some of the other xperia devices supported by the dock didn't have HDMI out. I now concede defeat. Guess i'll have to dig out my PS1 to play FF7 on my TV
The thing that catches my eye is that he clearly states it's for the play but the section about hdmi and USB peripherals it only says xperia smartphone's, not xperia play? That's confusing me.

What i find weird is that in the service menu via - *#*#7378423#*#*
There is options to turn HDMI on or off and also test it.

Yeah but it also has Irda test in it, so I imagine this tests are standard, and not especially designed for the Play.

My Stupid, Useless, N00b Idea! AV Cable.

As some of you may well know.. The Iphone 4 very well adapts to connecting to a TV set using its 30-pin connector one side and AV plugs at the other cable. I was just thinking....
If HDMI is not supported... Would we have an easier way into actually importing some kind of software or some mod into the kernal itself?
Do we even have AV- Mini-USB cable available to our disposal?

Before anything like that could be used, You would need to get the play into USB host mode
Is that something that I.C.S could present us?

No, you'll need SE to include it in their kernel/kernel source for our play or you'll need some devoted devs to port it from the Arc.

Z1 Dual Shock supported games out of the box LIST HERE

Modern Combat 4
Sonic 1 and 2
Those are ones I know fully support Z1 with Dual Shock right out of the box.
Anyone who knows that has tested other games please post!
I want to buy more games!
I tested Asphalt 8 and some PS1 Classic Games, like Medal of Honor.
Hey Guys, can someone explain to me how I connect my dual shock to Z1? I use a normal usb to connect dualshock to Z1 but on Xperia Connectivity > DUALSHOCK I stuck on first page where is telling me to connect it...

First connect Ps3Pad to Z1 using OTG USB cable, then press PS button. Next time just turn on BT on phone and turn on PS3 controller - it should be paired automagically (until you pair with cable Ps3Pad with PS3 it will be disconnected from your console).

You`ll have to use a really good or the OEM USB cable for the PS3 controller, otherwise it won`t be recognised.
