Hey all,
This is probably a simple task but I'm just getting started with the tutorials at http://developer.android.com and can't seem to figure this out:
Working with the Notepad example, I've got it complete and now I'm trying to figure out how to align the text.
I've searched all over for it but not sure if I'm looking for the right terminology. If anyone could help a noob I'd appreciate it...

what are you trying to accomplish exactly?
layout_gravity and gravity are the closest properties to align mostly
However a RelativeLayout will give you many more options. You should take a look at Hello, Views:
http://developer.android.com/resources/tutorials/views/index.html
@jonesjw362: I'm trying to get the text in the middle to be aligned at the top vice starting out in the middle as it currently is.
@alostpacket: Thanks, I'll take a look into RelativeLayout.
I bought me a book tonight lol, so hopefully that will assist me in my learning experience! Learned a thing or two in the first chapter alone and almost through the second chapter.

Hi,
Could someone tell me if there's a way to change/remove the icons from the today screen. I'm talking about the little butterfly, the house, the messenger icon and the envelope.
Thanks
Andrew
Did you steal your device or something ?
It's in the manual, but here you go...
Start > Settings > Today > Items tab
disable and re-order the Today Screen items there
No, I actually bought it. Actually it never crossed my mind to read the manual. Maybe it's a bad habit.
Thanks
:lol:

I'm much the same, actually... I like to just sit down and poke at things (found the today screen settings that way, for example).. but manuals do sometimes have good information that you can't easily stumble upon otherwise.. so once I feel 'ok' with a device/piece of software, I read through the entire manual once, and highlight (or note down) the bits that are interesting and seem non-obvious.

Dear bros,
I'm having the Diamond, and a number of owners including me are not happy abt the number of appointments shown in the front page of the touchFlo3D.
Therefore, I have decided to create a small app that will open up in a small window (or a nice background) and will display all upcoming appointments regardless of which day it falls on.
This function is very similar to O2plus plugin as you can see in one of my older today screens:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
The thing is, I plan to use VB.net but I'm kinda lost. *please don't flame me on this.. just asking help
I've used the classic VB for windows apps long time ago and I've lost touch. I'd really appreciate if someone could help me with the code, just to display the next appointment or something. I'll build it up from there.
Here's an example in C# which I can't get it to work:
http://www.developer.com/ws/pc/article.php/3556186
I've got all the tools needed: VB.net 2005, WM6 SDK, etc.
Thanks once again!
Cheers.

Lol are u sure it came from the phone and not a piece of tool? (screwdriver end or something)
Try studying some take-apart guides if u are sure it belongs to the phone, there are plenty of them all around the web

Thanks for your answer I already checked many disassembly tutorials but could not find one where you see this little white bastard except of this tutorial: http://www.etradesupply.com/blog/how-to-repair-damaged-samsung-galaxy-s5-screen-and-other-parts-after-disassembly/ (See last image).
But unfortunately there is not described where it came from but I am quite sure it was within the device and not from my tools.
Found it!
If someone has the same problem: The white small rubber cap is located in the hole named as R2 (in the back, where the battery is located).
Thanks!
Should have put a banana for scale...

Hi!
I think you have used an app or a cmd/powershell script to add these, check your app or the website from which you downloaded the modifications to see if there is any way to undo the changes, if not read the rest of this article
Try using this portable app from Nirsoft: https://www.nirsoft.net/utils/shmnview.zip
find the name of those menu options, then right click and click disable. Be careful, DO NOT DISABLE OTHER THINGS, I think there is a option to reverse it, not sure.
if you don't want to use that method, do any other from this article: https://technastic.com/remove-items...emove_Shellex_Items_from_the_Right-click_Menu
Please ONLY USE THE REGISTRY EDITOR METHOD IF YOU ARE GOOD IN COMPUTERS AND YOU ARE CONFIDENT modifiying the wrong thing could cause system problems
OMG bro thanks a lot!! This was really helpful and the app from Nirsoft worked for me!
I really really appreciate your fast response and assistance on this!
