Hi,
Could someone tell me if there's a way to change/remove the icons from the today screen. I'm talking about the little butterfly, the house, the messenger icon and the envelope.
Thanks
Andrew
Did you steal your device or something ?
It's in the manual, but here you go...
Start > Settings > Today > Items tab
disable and re-order the Today Screen items there
No, I actually bought it. Actually it never crossed my mind to read the manual. Maybe it's a bad habit.
Thanks

I'm much the same, actually... I like to just sit down and poke at things (found the today screen settings that way, for example).. but manuals do sometimes have good information that you can't easily stumble upon otherwise.. so once I feel 'ok' with a device/piece of software, I read through the entire manual once, and highlight (or note down) the bits that are interesting and seem non-obvious.

Hey all
After two months of treating my HD like a newborn puppy, I left it alone for one minute at a friend's house and someone spilt drink all over it
All is well (eventually...) except for the power button. It acts like it's permently pushed down, so I always have the pop-up 'Are you shure you want to shut down?" and I can't suspend/wake up/turn off the phone (apart from workarounds) or even leave the phone turned off without removing the battery.
I've read old posts on this, and was following some advice from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=520702, but I yanked the button up waaayyyy high! (see pic!)

Anyway, I want to try any tips before pushing the button-cap back on. Has anyone seen the insides enough to suggest where to stick a pin/lever it back up etc etc?
If it makes a difference, the end nearest the 'white' bit is pushed down into the device a bit - is this its natural pose or is that my problem>
Cheers for any help, hopefully one of you beautiful XDA'ers will have some help, a beer if anyone performs me a miracle!
Is there a way to bypass the "flipping" clock on the Home tab. It looked cute to begin with but I'm get annoyed by it now (after less than a week - boy is my tollerence low )
one more!
at least if someone could let us know how to stop the fckng animation... it's driving me crazy!
don't think it can be done, besides... why is it driving you guys crazy? are you staring at it 24/7? i don't even notice the animations anymore, i just need to know the time.
Personally, I miss the classic "Winmo 6/6.1" (I think) digital clock. If there's a way to restore it, that would be awesome.

Anyone seen this? just made it quick in ms paint as I didnt bother to get a screenshot.. It should be clear if you've seen it before.
Thanks in advance
That's the icon when you have the phone set to Vibrate.
It's your first pda isn't it ? I think it'll be good for you to read the notice .
Thanks! Silly me should have realized it replaced the sound on/off icon.. It seems to change some settings in there itself sometimes
thanks again
Yeah first PDA.. I tried to click on it to see what it was, but I just came to the normal screen with battery indicator and network connection.. The icon looked a bit scary so it got me off..
Lol ! welcome on windows mobile board !

I posted about this forever ago in the Rhodium forum. Never got an answer or any replies, no +1's, nothing.....
Now we have a couple hd2's and so i bring it to leo forum attention:
is a way to cut down the space in the typing area. See screen shot. Any ideas how to edit this?

Looking at your screen pic, you are pressing return/enter key after you type each word. (key near bottom right).
Yeah no kidding. That was to show my point. Take out all those words and the typing space remains as big as it is there in that screen shot. Its like they set the typing space to 5 or 6 lines before it expands, when it should be set to 1 typing line and expand as needed.
If I remember right, the tilt2 or the fuze this was a reverse problem, meaning there werent enough lines, and someone found that I think it was in the .css file there was a setting to change to make the box bigger, maybe its the same setting. I dont have the time right now, but I'll look later, but do a search in google for htc sms box enlarge setting, if you have trouble finding it, I'll see later and post a link.
Here's a nagging Android riddle I'd like to understand just out of curiosity, as opposed to researching an 'issue' that needs to be resolved. We all have better things to do (laundry, pull weeds, floss) than to make a case out of this post.
I'll ask anyway.
In my graphic the shortcut on the left shows normal behavior from the Settings widget in Oreo. The shortcut on the right, however, just showed up on the home screen out of nowhere. I'm clueless about how it got there and why it has color. Is anybody familiar with this?

I think it's a spyware from mobile-tracker-free.com . Coz I used it before and it comes as the name of WiFi in the settings to avoid attention of the user.

It's not spyware. But mystery solved. The peculiar green shortcut is an Oreo feature.
In my case it showed up by accident. Here's how it's done on purpose:
Long-press the Settings app icon until a pop-up box appears with a short list of widget items that can be dragged to the home screen. In my case there are only 3 options -- battery, data usage and wi-fi.
There are similar effects by long-pressing other apps like Gmail and Messages.
