11nModeDisable tested - Touch2 General

Hello. I testing TOUCH2 with router B/G/N forced for N connection only.
After edited this key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\BCMSDDHD1\Parms:11nModeDisable = 0
and rebooted, with forcing router to use only N wireless standard, my Notebook not connect because wlan card is B/G but Touch2 work fine and show for speed tx/rx auto/auto. I have already test navigation and youtube video and work fine.

WIFI problems

In my nouse I have an WIFI network with WPA and WPA2. When I use encryption, even WEP, te connection is established but after a few seconds of data transfer, there is connection goes dead. I tested an open connection, a WEP 64, 128, WPA en WPA2 connection. All except the open unencrypted connection stop working after a few seconds. The Ameo keeps being connected to the accespoints, but there is no traffic anymore.
Has somebody else had this problem? I will try a hard reset to test it with a clean install.

Hi there what make is your Access point? (is it a Belkin or Netgear possibly?)
Accespoints
I have a Zyxel 2602HW and a SMC2870W.
You've not got a 3G data session already established have you? I'm guessing its a WM5 'feature' rather than a specific Ameo fault, but if you're got 3G running, then connect to a Wireless Access Point, it gets itself all confused and tries to use the 3G connection for net access. I normally just quickly turn the phone service off and on, once the wifi service is running, via comm manager.
I've also noticed something else, where if I'm sending or receviing e-mail, and I'm already connected to the wifi point, it doesn't know to use the 3G connection rather than the wifi point to access the t-mobile servers. You have to close the wifi session before it is able to send/receive the messages (which don't always immediatly retry) but I'm guessing that maybe I could do something with routing on the Ameo. I need to get a grounding of the network stack on it before I can do it.
No, I tested it by putting it in flight mode and then enable wifi. When I do not use encryption, there is no problem. It works and I can watch ip televison. But when I use encryption, I cannot get a connection with whatever url within seconds. Only reconnect give me again a few seconds. It is frustrating. My MDA PRO and my DELL X30 do not have any problems at all.

yeah i think it happended to me as well..i cannot get connected gor long...at always disconnected and connect again...
one more thing..my previous UNI it always auto detect..but not with dopod..
Compatibility
I found that the Athena is compatible with 3Com accesspoint but not with Zyxel or SMC. I use my neighboors 3Com and that worked. I decided to install my old 3Com Home Connect accesspoint and that one also worked. But the others do not. At this point it does not matter if I use encruption or not. Only the 3Com devices work. Does anybody hav another type of device that works?
Odyssey Access Client
I found this WPA/WPA2 client from Junipur http://download.juniper.net/software/aaa_802/public/oac/WM_Client_45/OdCeClientPPCSigned.ARMV4.CAB
If you have installed this install directly the following file and reset your device. ftp://xda:[email protected]/Uploads/Software/OdCl450CrOnlyFALLEN.cab
Now you will see that the Ameo will connect to the other accesspoints.
So you see there is a bug in the WIFI part of the radio rom!
No problem for me, i´m usung a netgear WG834GT for the moment.
Maybe my HTC X7500 Advantage has some other roms with the problems solved because it is swedish

I have no problem using the WIFI. I'm normally able to see about four if I'm at home. The other access points are my neighbours', some of which are secured while others are'nt. If I connect to any one of them they tend to drop off after a while due to week signals. Even if I use my own within the house, the signal is weak sometimes, in which case, the system automatically goes to UMTS connection which is far far faster in my case (Because my WIFI's bottlenect is from the slow ADSL speed of 512kbs download speed max, and my phone, running at UMTS, has higher speed.
So, check the signal strength and see if this is the cause.
Since my works all the time, may be by showing you my wifi configuation for comparison might help.
I'm using WEP data encription. The network key is entered on start>setting>connection>Wi-Fi. I would see all the hot spots there. After I selected my own WIFI, I select connecting to the internet and press NEXT. In the next screen I chose Open WEP and untick automatic box. I then enter the network key which I obtain from my router administration screen on my PC.
That's it. I hope you have your problem resolved soon
Thanks for the info, but this is not my problem. I can connect to whatever accespoint. Only my neighbours accespoint makes it possible to connect to te internet. When I connect to my own network my ZYXEL is giving me troubles because it is blocking traffic after 10 seconds. It doesnot matter if connect to it by WIFI or using my SMC bridge that is connected bij LAN. It doesnot matter if I use encryption or not. Strange enough when I use Odyssey Access Client I can connect to the internet. I have to say that this is not always the case. The signal in my home is more than 80% for both WIFI gateways. Every other device I use, an MDA PRO and a DELL X30, do not have troubles when they want to connect to the internet. So I conclude that the WIFI on my Ameo is not completely compliant. This could be my device, te rom or my gateways. I do not think my gateways are the problem. Both are from different manufacturers.
Seems to me that I have a similar problem...
I got my Ameo yesterday and installed W-Lan. I'm using WAP encription. I get a very weak signal and have a very slow Internet connection (like in the "good-old 54k modem days" ;-). Sometimes there is even no response from the internet. Then I have to close W-Lan in the connection manager and to restart W-Lan again.
Dieter
That is exactly my problem. It works at the beginning but after a few seconds it looks like the Ameo is in quicksand. There is no information from the internet anymore that reaches the Opera browser. I tried Odessey Access Client with better results, but it does not work all the time.
@dieterpapa
What type of accespoint do you have?
i´m using a linksys wrtg router + an additional linksys range expander to cover my house completely.
what i´ve seen, too is that using the ameo about 3 mtrs to the expander i only get minimum w-lan signal.
do we perhaps have a problem with the antenna ?
@qan: how is your signal strength?
dieter
I have the same problem. gets connected no problem. I can download files from my pc. But leave it a few seconds to look at a web page then the connection drops I have to reconnect at com manager. never happend with my mda.

I had the same problems while connecting the Ameo to a Freebox (special router for French DSL offering, http://adsl.free.fr/wifi/).
After installing the programmes you listed (and restarting several times) I could connect with the new WiFi tool. Now sometimes I have problems when the programme thinks WiFi is disabled but in fact it is not, but this is only temporary.
Thanks!
Found Problem!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have finaly found the problem. I am sure the problem is within the rom of the Ameo. The problem is caused by the auto scaling feature of the processor. When the WIFI connects to an encrypted accesspoint the WIFI connection is not setup correctly. To prove this I have installed Pocket Hack Master and disabled the build-in scaling. After this my Ameo connect without any problem to the accesspoint and internet. This works with every processor frequency from 104Mhz up to 728Mhz. Yes at 728Mhz the Ameo is blazing fast. You won't recognize your device. Also after activating the scaling feature of PHM it still works. After disabeling PHM the connection went dead again.
You have to deactivate the build-in scaling before you activate the WIFI connection.
Lets hope someone can patch the rom or that this problem is not available within WM6.
Gerald
And how to disable internal scaling ?

it's in the setting, disable internal scale
Thanks - found it in the hack master setting.
However my Ameo doesn't pass 728MHz - it hangs. Maximum is 663 MHz.

Wifi can't get a ip

Hi I just got a wizard and its works great except I cant get wifi working, I keeps connecting but never gets a ip, I tried it on 2 diferent routers, I tried it with Socket Wi-Fi Companion but didnt work either
anyone got a idea what could be wrong, thanks
I just noticed it registered my dns and dhcp server on 192.168.2.1 but this is wrong... they are both one 192.168.1.1 but I have no idea how to correct it
What routers are you using? Linksys?
Any encryption or MAC filter enabled?
Did you try setting up a static IP address on your device? (SETTINGS -> WLAN)
I sometimes don't get WiFi either. A soft reset helps in that case at least on mine. Seems like the WIZ just drops the drivers for WLAN sometimes when it starts up - don't ask me why!

oh ya sory forgot to mention..
im using a linksys wrt54gl with dd-wrt firmware I tried with wpa-psk and without any security, mac filter is on but I added the mac of my ppc(didnt work disabled too
I tried static ip but I dont think i can use that if I got dhcp enabled on my router, can I?
I'll try turning that off later tho if needed
I just edited my dns server to 192.168.1.1 but the dhcp one is still wrong
If you have a REGISTRY EDITOR installed try the stuff below. Please be patient and do not make a hard reset when done but power off the wizard by pressing and holding the power button for a few seconds. The WIZ tends to drop latest changes if you soft reset it too fast. After you restarted the device see if you can connect.
Enable 802.11g WiFi network connectivity
While the phone by default only connects to 802.11b WiFi networks, it is capable of connecting to 802.11g WiFi networks as well, once this is enabled:
HKLM\COMM\TNETWLN1\Parms\dot11SupportedRateMask = 1 (DWORD decimal)
HKLM\COMM\TNETWLN1\Parms\dot11SupportedRateMaskG = 8 (DWORD decimal)
To set back to default:
HKLM\COMM\TNETWLN1\Parms\dot11SupportedRateMaskG = 4 (DWORD decimal)
Note that your network speed won't appreciably increase, but this is the only way to enable connectivity to 802.11g-only networks

i dont have a registry editer but I found this file which suposely enables g networking too
http://members.home.nl/pieterstroink/GoT_startpost/K-JAM/DJVW_HTC_Wizard_Optimizer_2_1_.0.cab
trying now..
oh but btw my router had b and g enabled
I tried this reg editer..
http://www.breaksoft.com/Blog/Utilities/2005/1/Mobile_Registry_Editor.aspx and saw dhcp server 192.168.2.1 and i tried to correct it but got a acces denied msg... if this file doesnt work ill try another reg editer
nope file didnt work
hmm any other registery editer? this one just gives acced denied the whole time
Get RESCO EXPLORER 2005. It has as well a registry adin. That should do it! http://www.pocketgear.com/software_detail.asp?id=529&cid=specials200704&source=specials
thanks I tried editing both keys but with no succes, wifi still doesnt work
im gonna try turning of dhcp...
oh btw I entered a static ip yesterday and it got connected a few times with ip
but the connections dropped way to quick (mind u the router is 5 feet away so signal quality is fine) and I couldnt open any site or ping to my routers ip
ooi it works after I disabled the security.. I only have a mac adres filter not sure if thats save enough..
If it works with security disabled, then you didn't set up the network settings on your Wizard correctly. I run WPA/PSK on my network and have no problems. I recommend reviewing your router and Wizard settings.

I had a similar problem connecting to a wireless AP (With central DHCP server) at work while my wizard worked fine at home just the other day.
I went and hardcoded the following information into the registry
HKLM\Comm\Tnetwln1\Params\Tcpip\DhcpServer
DhcpServer is a Multi Line Value. I just added the IP of our DHCP server at work to this value as an extra and it connected...
I also had to check the
HKLM\Comm\Tnetwln1\Params\Tcpip\DhcpSubnetMask value
because the network where I work has a 255.255.255.128 subnet

802.11 "b" or "g"? How do I know?

As the title says... My router is capable of 802.11 G as well as B. It also does 108mbps. Any way to find out which way I'm currently connected? G by default hopefully?
Thanks.
you can set your router to connect via "G" only, and see if your TyTN still connects. if so, then you will be connecting via "G" when your router is using both.
BTW, can any program on the TyTN really use the full "G" speed?

WiFi problem :(

Hey, i have a problem with wifi ... its already showing that its connected to wifi router.. but the internet not working i had this problem from weeks ! .. till now cant find the way to fix it ! ... what do u think ? is there any apps can let the wifi work perfectly with internet ? .. or is there anyway to get back the internet ? .. i dunno its just showing that already connected to my wirless but no net ...
msTx.
This problem can not be answered with the information you gave us, for the problem might well be the network you attempt to connect to. If for some reason your router only allows local access, you will be able to connect, without being able to reach the internet.
First try disabling all security on your router (including mac-filter!) and attempt a connection. If it doesn't fly from there, give us some more info. (What kind of router, phone firmware etc.)
well, i will check my router settings and check the security... and i will give u the answer l8r ... anyway thx
i checked everything .. and my laptop works perfect with wifi 100% ! , but my xperia still doesnt work and also i restarted my router .. so here's the information about my router ..
It's Linksys router .

Check them if anything wroung .. and thx
From the looks of it, your settings aren't "flawed" (to any extent you can speak of flawed anyway).
I meant disabling the security as a temporary test. If disabling allows you to connect, the problem lies there.
Also something that might help is changing the channel you're on.
If that doesn't help, update your router's firmware.
Finally, try connecting to another network with your X1, if that does work, the problem lies in compatibility (most often resolved with firmware updates for your router).
mstx while you are at it also test the following:
1. are the proxy settings on the phone correct? normally they should be empty
2. can you connect fine with the phone from activesync from the laptop
3. are your ip settings correct? some networks requires them to be static (you manually set the correct ip, subnet, gateway) instead of dynamic (from the dhcp server)?
4. when you connect to the wifi network it should ask you to select internet or work. select internet.
Heeey , i fixed it !.. now its work perfect !! ... well, the problem was in the xperia my wifi connection setting, the wifi setting was "connect to WORK" .. so I changed it "connect to THE INTERNET" .. and it works ...
anyway thanks guys !!
i think the problem come from here
Pre-Shared Key: ******* (wireless password)
try using a wep key instead
i think that wireless passxord doesn't work well on windows mobile

Wireless N Froyo

Hi ,
i dont know if this requires a new topic, but havent seen much on this. but has anyone been able to connect to wireless N Speed with Froyo?? i check my router stats and it still says my nexus is connected to G at 54mbps.. I have a Mac that connects fine to it in N Mode. anybody else been able to connect at those speeds?? or was this not included in the froyo update??
Cheers,
Dan
already in 2.1
Well I have connected as N and speed 65mbps...but then again I had that already in 2.1.
If I look in my d-link dir-655, it says that I'm using N-version in both android versions.
I tried with speed test I came up to downlink 16.44mbps uplink 4.24mbps with 2.2 and with 2.1 max speed was down 18.92mbps and up 2.21mbps.
hmmm... is there a specific channel ur using maybe? :S
im using a Dlink DIR -615.. its only a 2.4ghz, no the 5ghz N'
Here is a copy&paste from my router
Wireless Network Settings (Wireless manual settings)
Wireless Radio : Enabled (Always)
802.11 Mode : Mixed 802.11n, 802.11g and 802.11b
Enable Auto Channel Scan : On
Wireless Channel : 2.437 Ghz - Channel 6 (grayed out because its on automatic)
Transmission Rate : Best (automatic)
Channel Width : Auto 20/40 Mhz
Wireless LAN (Status information)
Wireless Radio : Enabled
802.11 Mode : Mixed 802.11n, 802.11g and 802.11b
Channel Width : 40MHz
Channel : 1
Secondary Channel : 5
WISH : Active
Wi-Fi Protected Setup : Enabled/Configured
mmm, yeah my settings are the same...
is there anything on the Nexus needed to be changed or enabled?
i cant understand why it wont connect..
i might try force N only connects on my router,
