Stock ROM removal - XPERIA X8 General

i want to find all things in the stock 2.1.1.A.0.6 ROM that are to remove if anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated this includes System .apks as well
these .apks are to be removed to free up any space if anyone is wondering, i thought this would be of help to some people who want to get the most free memory they can in their X8

I'm sorry, but I guess you should more specific in your question.
First of all, try to edit the thread title, to be something clearer. Just "help?" doesn't mean anything accurate.
Then explain your request in a detailed way.
What are you trying to do? Why do you want to remove the "things" in the stock ROM?

here it is http://www.market4android.com/stock-android-2-1-apps-list hope it helps.
if it is dont forget to ..... ^_^

thanks but there are also some sony ericsson .spks that must be safe to remove too thank's very much for the above link though

System App Backup

Hey guys I rooted my phone and started to remove all the bloatware and useless apps but I forgot to make a backup just in case, is it possible to use someone else backup, and if so can someone please send me theirs!
Thank you.
Do you need them, really?
If you are rooted, and you have installed Rom Manager and its recovery... you should be able to flash the nandroid backup posted in the android development section. That will take you back to stock (and keep root).
ah no i wasnt aware of that, this is my first android phone. Thanks. But no i dont have Rom Manager installed.
^ awesome man. I would encourage you to read the sticky "tips and tricks" at the top that I have been working on. I would particularly like your feedback and see if it helps you (since you are my target audience).
I address Rom Manager in it. Please let me know what you think, or if I can help after you read it. Welcome to Android. You will love it.

[Q] Language issue?! please help..

Hi,
I really need an Arabic support to my milestone 2 device. I've searched the net for a solution with no result, it might be due to the fact that milestone 2 hasn't been officially released in the middle east!!
I'm quite sure it's possible because milestone 1, Defy and Atrix users have had a solution for this issue, then why not me?
Please guys any help would be appreciated, I'm fed up with this!
I'm running the latest firmware 2.2.2
Thanks in advance!.

search this forum. somebody else has asked a similar question needing arabic support. if im not mistaken there is no arabic support. the only way will be to write one yourself. as i said, search the forum and you will find ur answer
EDIT: there's a reason a thread has been created for general questions. had you looked through that thread there wouldnt be a need to create a new thread on this. refer to this thread for your answer.

We would have all languages if we would have a Cyanogenmod ROM but we haven't at this moment. You can eventually install More Locale app from market, and add your locale. After that you will get your language in all apps that support it.

I did search the forum and couldn't find an answer!
I did submit a question in General question thread and couldn't find an answer!
and in the original post you said yourself:
"DO NOT START A THREAD UNNECESSARILY unless you cant find an answer in this thread"
So I believe nothing wrong with this thread!

Just install the "More Locale" app from the Android Market, and add your (Arabic) locale in this app. After that all installed apps will recognize your system locale as the Arabic and automatically will be translated to this language if support it. Just try and see results.
agent008my, mkmck or anyone can help, if you could guide me through this?
I've found this generic Arabic files for android 2.2 & 2.3
but I don't know if I can apply them to milestone 2 and how? because I'm no expert in milestone 2 firmware, especially that Arabic is shown in my device but the problem is that it's not connected letters, so there is a little hope here
here is the link please check it out:

the steps to the link there is pretty straight forward. you have to make sure your phone is rooted though. to root your phone, check through the android development section of this MS2 forum and you should be able to root your phone then. read carefully, and then read again before you attempt a root. once rooted, download root explorer or something similar and you should be able to follow the steps in that blog pretty easily
edit: you should be able to search through all the extension files stated (right from checking if your ROM is deodexed to modding the system/framework extensions) in that blog after you have rooted your phone via root explorer or similar
always always perform a nandroid backup before you start rooting your phone or installing the patch. you can learn more about nandroid backups and similar android terminology and rooting through these threads:

I installed Root explorer and before rooting I've explored the Framework. I found a framework with odex extension which make it not suitable for the method the guy mentioned.
So my question here, is deodexing the rom a possible thing for a basic user (I've read it's a complicated method), or do you advice me not to do it? -to be able to apply the files-
Thanks very much!.

to be very honest with you, here is my understanding on deodexing:
Apk files have respective odexes that devs use to supposedly save space. Deodexing means you convert it back to a .dex file and put it back inside the apk. This allows you to easily replace files (not having to worry about odexes), but the main point was to deodex services.jar so that you can change all text to different colors (such as the clock color to white) and to deodex services.jar, you need to deodex everything.
to be honest i know nothing about deodexing or how difficult it is to carry out. however, i did take the liberty of searching some up for you, and there is a tutorial on this forum about deodexing. its very complete and it should be able to help you.

apparently our man here has tried more locale and it has not worked. hence the reason for this rather drastic method
I finally found a file that worked!
and here's the link for the files in case someone searched for the same problem

Lots of miscellaneous questions.... Please help

Hi,
After searching around the forums and looking for a few things I have arrived at a few questions...
1. If anyone living in india has flashed Xxkb3 modem along with the xxkb3 rom... can you tell how is it? planning to re flash my phone..
2. Can I use my old modem while flashing a new firmware? Just want to confirm...
3. Skinning swype ? Is it possible? Changing the tracer path colour as shown by tripin is an awesome thing to do!
Aside from a few stock apps like samsung app store, aldiko book reader, calender clock widget, social buzz and layar (not sure of it)
what all other apps can I remove aside from these above mentioned apps..?
though I saw a list once here in the forum but now I am unable to find it...
Please don't shout if these things have already been discussed by you people...
Just clarifying a few doubts...
Thanks a lot....

[Q] New S5, best setup to remove bloat, root and sim free

hi guys,
just got today an S5 and quite happy with it so far.
I would like to do few things on it, hope you can suggest me the best way:
- get root (Lollipop 5.0, possibly keeping Knox unaltered)
- remove bloatware (especially my magazine)
- make it sim free, I belive is locked to the operator, got it on contract
can you please recommend what's best for doing those 3 things?
thanks a lot,
Gabrio
how about you read the forum, jesus christ it's right there in front of you.
hello Lingo, thanks for your reply
that is what i have been doing for the past 2-3 hours and because i know it's sometimes confusing, i was asking in advance. May i ask you to not swear with the name of our Lord? it's not pleasing to him and there's no need doing it. thank you

If you really had been looking for the last 2 hours, my dear sir, surely you would have noticed the stickied threads which answer all of your questions. One particular thread will even tell you that these kind of posts don't belong here in "General". Good day to you.
here's a few useful threads to get you started:
General advice: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2700073
How to root: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2696537
If you just want to remove bloat from your current rom, I'd recommend smart debloater: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s5/development/mod-smart-debloater-t2802034
But if you want a new/customisable rom check out Phoenix rom where you can pick and choose what you flash: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2741302
To make it sim-free, you'll need to get an unlock code either from your network or maybe off somewhere like ebay.
Hope that helps

thanks so much those are really helpful... if you could help me with one more thing which I found and is really off (again on this model)....I would love to edit the SMS_Candy.apk and disable SMS to MMS conversion after 480 chars or tricky it, I remember on my sgs2 I did a mod and basically increased that to "after 99 SMS convert to MMS" which did the trick nicely. I had a look at the files and it seems more complicated on Lollipop 5.0? do you know by chance? thanks a lot!
TBH, most custom roms will have that mod already included, I think phoenix rom has it
