What I have is Lenovo N500, 4 GB of memory, 2 GHz dual core, Windows 7 64 bit, conexant high definition smart audio 221, 250 GB hard disk, Windows 7 experience rating 3.5.
I have upgraded my blue Angel to WM6.5_21888_EngV2. A. Before this I have the Windows Mobile 6.1. With both these operating systems, I have not been able to connect to my wireless LAN
is there a Walk through for troubleshooting wireless LAN connection
Any suggestions welcome?

Yes use my RC5!
okay first of all I am trying to upgrade the radio ROM. I downloaded the Radio 1.15.00 Update utility.
Tried running it in Windows 7, in compatibility mode, and I got the usual message that this does not work with this device. So I have tried the same update utility using a virtual PC in in Windows XP mode, and in that the program won't even run.
Any suggestions please?

Okay, I have already upgraded from 6.1 to 6.5 using the Windows XP virtual mode, so I am familiar with the process. However when I tried to upgrade, and I have put the new ROM and your Windows Mobile 6.5 version in the correct directory, the installation program does not register any programs being there to upgrade. There is no ROM listed, and there is no Windows Mobile 6.5 listed. Any suggestions?

I'm using windows 7 and wanted to change ROM, i was wondering if the .net 3.5 thats recommended and needed for the HSPLWrapper_Blackstone_156OliNex has any complications or if indeed is need at all?
can't comment on the tool you talk about
but win7 is the first windows that comes
with .net 3.5 installed from the start
I tried to flash my mobile from a Vista PC and I got problems with it.
So I went into the basement and used my old XP Computer.
And it worked flawlessly
Maybe Windows 7 works better, but I don't think so. Just try it and install .NET 3.5 and start RUU.
If it doesn't work, you got to look for a XP Computer

Maybe you had to install the cracked drivers (youwe got 64 and 32bit version), sometimes you need to disable the USB connection under WMdevice Center, put the device in bootloader and then run RUU update.
Argh sorry, totally forgot to mention that.
But I had tried (nearly) everything:
Flashing without changes in Vista (just WMDC installed)
disabled/enabled "allow USB connections"
normal/cracked drivers
...
So if somebody know what's wrong, please tell me ^^
If your using USPL you will need to update the HTC USB drivers as it will not detect the device, if you have flashed the hard SLP then you needed worry, it works fine, even in Windows 7, 32 and 64 bit
HSPL didn't work with my 32bit Vista, even not after updating the drivers
But that's Windows: Sometimes it works, most time it doesn't
Put HSPL from friends PC and than @ home just do upgrades via SD card
Thanks guys, some good info there, i'm liking windows 7 at the moment so will keep tryin to find a way to the HSPL, tried that friends option NikPraskaton but he has windows XP and is not detecting the phone anymore
Hey guys,
Reviewed alot of the posts here, but can't find out what the status is with the native functionality of cell modem access on Win 7...
I just got Windows 7 Pro installed (it isn't the beta, or hacked, it's retail), Everything is working (touchscreen, aero, etc...) with the exception of the native cell modem internet sharing.
I do know there is a hack by using the USB tool to get it working, however I'm just curious if anyone has it working the proper way as intended by HTC?
I'm noticing there are no devices missing drivers in the device manager, the HTC control app works fine, and even can control the modem on the snapvue side of things...
But there is still no "virtual" network adapater inside of the Network adapters on the system...
Scratch that...
I'm a tool. My shift has been sitting for 6 months after not being used until today when I decided to upgrade...
Totally forgot the virtual adapter only shows when no other connections are present...
Everything is working now
Hi!
How did you get the TS to work?
I've been trying to get the touchscreen to work with the latest W7 but no soceess. I've followed the guide on XDA and all tips on XDA but no sucess.
Could you maybe write down how you did even if it was just a regular installation? I've reinstalled and all but the ts just won't work!

To be honest, I was an idiot and had a horrible install... Here's what I did if you dare try..
1. Install all the drivers (NOT using compatibility mode and "Run as Admin")
Only a few things worked, it was horrible...
2. Re-installed ALL the drivers, using the list that HTC recomends. Keep in mind that the device manager will show some of the devices as not working, after you install all the drivers in Compatibility mode, along with "Run as admin". Go to the Device manager, and right click on all the problemtic devices and select "Uninstall".
3. Restart the computer, then Aero will start bluescreening and crashing. Boot into safemode (with networking). Go to the device manager and disable both Video card adapater shown.
4. restart and go to Intel's website and download the latest Chipset INF installer, and Video drivers for windows 7. Install the Chipset INI first, then video drivers...
5. At this point I can't remember but I thinnk the touchscreen didn't work. I just ran the Touchscreen installer one last time, and BANG it worked...
Sorry for my horrible instructions, it was a messy install, but everything is working for me now.
Thanks!
I't looks similar to how i've been fooling around with my shift.
Well, at least it's gratifying to know that i may get it to work if keep messing with it

Hi just have a quick question: When you upgraded your vista to Win 7, do you used the upgraded disk or start from the OEM win 7?
I actually didn't upgrade.
I used a Open Business Volume disc I have that was issued to my company. I guess it's the same thing as a retail copy.
I did a fresh install.

Thanks! It is OEM Disk. And one more think are you install the Win 7 pro or the ultimate? Thanks again. I really appreciate your help.
I could be wrong, but I think I did Win 7 Pro
Thanks again...I will try to install win7 pro on mine. I think 7 ultimate for Shift is too much coz the processor itself is only 800Mhz.
is it the same thing as installing it with a windows computer?
got tired of windows mobile 7, so going back to android,
angry birds!
but yea, sorry so would anyone care to help me out?
really? no one guys?
I have never used a mac, but i did read about it something like 6 months ago when i was stuck on the wm6.5 test rom.
From what i read, you have to set up an emulated windows environment on your mac, and then do some additional stuff to make all the commands and such point to the right place. To be honest, it sounded like quite a pain in the ass, compared to using somebody else's windows computer.
Wish I could be of more help man, best of luck. Hopefully somebody with better unix experience can come along and point you to a real good guide. Or you find someone to let you use their Windows pc.

You should install a version of Windows via bootcamp. Just type in Spotlight " bootcamp" and it should show up and follow its instructions. Shouldnt be too complicated. then after install Windows onto bootcamp partition, set up as u normally use it on windows. Bootcamp allows you to run Windows ( XP, win 7, Vista) natively on Mac with its own Win drivers ( install using your mac installation disk after windows has finished setup). Hope this help.
yeaa i know about bootcamp, just dindn't wanna install windows on my mac, sigh but thanks guys for the help.
Just put all the required files on your sd card, take your phone and usb cable to walmart, and use one of their laptops that are out on display

I don't blame you for not wanting to install Windows on your Mac. This might be a totally dumm suggestion too as I have absolutely no knowledge of Mac. But could you not buy a cheap external hard drive and install Windows on the external hard drive and just use the hard drive to run the windows or the above mentioned bootcamp off of the external hard drive. Don't really know if you can do this or not but just a thought.
Yes you can run windows on another HDD. It's possible.

I know... our umpc is a bit older now, but i'm trying to give a new chance for it, now with Windows 8 Developer Preview. I got a relative sucess... I'm running this os, with tablet pc input working, with snapvue with 3g and wi-fi acess. But i'm facing a big problem with the video driver. I tried reinstall many times, but i can't get it work ok. Anybody got sucess with the video driver?
Sorry for my bad english.... i'm brazilian...
How did you get window 8 to install. I try and it said the shift did not meet the hardware rquirement.
I copy the iso on to a tumbdrive and mount it on a virtual drive for the installation process.
Peter
I downloaded the iso from de MS site. I used the USB image creator which is used to install the windows 7 in notebook. Restarted the machine, press f10 and enter in the setup... my htc is basic 40 gb hd and stock 1gb of ram...
camargomaia: i think it's possible, Windows 7 works fine and Windows 8 are (not for first look) still similar. Tomorrow i will try it, now i got two pieces of htc shift. Did you success with install all of default Vista drivers? Touchscreen is Working? thanks

Every is working, and the speed is very good. The only trouble is the video driver. In the process of setup our shift try hi-resolutions, that it not support, and this causes a instant reboot, similar that we had when trying to install the windows 7, with the aero enabled.
I thing that problem may be here, the windows 8 doesn´nt have the classic theme (windows 2000 theme)...
Let´s try to make this work, our old pc can beat the ipads, in some specs...
My Shift works fine now! I downloaded the drivers from the intel site and now everything is working! Our PC can run Windows 8!
Can you post a link for the driver you used?
What other drivers do I need to download before installing.
Is snapvue working?
Thanks

Good friday for everybody! Greeting from Brazil!
I posted a guide I wrote up in the Shift Development forum
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=17602535
The guide includes links to all the drivers I have used and the process I followed to get Windows 8 running on the Shift from a totally clean install.
As with camargomaia's parallel experiences, once all the drivers are installed the Shift very usable in Windows 8. Even in it's stock RAM limited state.

Thanks ,
That is the same driver I used. The driver is also good if want to run Metro or the desktop at 1152*864 (so all the Metro apps that need a minimum of 1024*768 will run).
Thanks for creating the guide! Great Job!

okay so i cant find a solution to this one, if you can help me, id really apreciate it.
okay so im trying to connect my hd2 to my windows 7 laptop. whenever i connect the two. nothing happens except my phone starts charging!
I tried it on 4 computers, all didn't work
i did the "turn off faster sync thing, that didn't work
ii JUST got this usb cord, so its not broken or anything
i also hard reseted my phone a while back if that helps
thanks in advance
What OS are you running on your HD2?
Windows Mobile 6.5 requires Active Sync to be installed on your machine and should prompt you to do so the first time you connect via USB.
Android should be effortless by just selecting the USB connectivity from the drop down alert menu.
WP7 requires that you have installed the latest version of Windows Mobile Device Center, which can be found by online search. You must download the appropriate x86 or x64 version, as is appropriate to your version of Win7.
Is there a scenario that I've missed?
Thank you for posting!!
my phone runs on windows 6.5.
do i download activesync to my phone or computer? i tried doing it on my computer but it gives me an error :
" This Program is blocked due to compatibility issues"
"previous versions of Active sync cannot be installed on windows vista or later."
i was trying to download Activesync 4.5
