So my X8 is three days old and I've been having fun downloading apps and exploring it's features.
Tonight the touchscreen started randomly freaking out. It stopped reacting to my touch and started registering false touches all over the screen. I've tried cleaning the screen, rebooting the phone, downloading the most up to date software, a factory reset and nothing is working. I've also checked for scratches of which there are none. I can't even get back into the phone because I can't get further than the set up screen.
I've googled and can't find anyone facing a similar problem. I'm at my wits end here. Anyone have any suggestions?
ghost -.-?
Try to reinstall the ROM via SEUS.

Been using mine for a couple of weeks, but just now the touch screen has been acting up. Sometimes it responds sluggishly and sometimes not at all.
At first I thought it was one of my apps running in the background, but even after a soft-reset, the touch screen still doesn't work. Can't even enter the PIN to my sim card.
Found that if I gave the screen a few solid taps here and there, the screen would start working again.
This happen to anyone else?
I've got the same issue. I can't find any reliable way of getting the screen to respond apart from to get someone to call me and then after some bashing on the screen it starts working again. I've even updated to the latest ROM in the hope it would cure the problem - but it didn't. I contacted HTC support they offered to repair the device...

Yep, that happened to me plus the screen started jittering with some weird actions. I sold the device and ordered a new one, to be delivered dec.19.

I've contacted Handtec about the issue, my phone's just marginally inside their 28 day replacement policy so hopefully I can get a new one out of them.
I tried a hard-reset before, didn't fix it. And I've found that if I place my entire palm over the screen and give it a bit of a squeeze then that restores life to the screen for hours or days at a time

Sounds like the connectors under the screen came loose, either because it was dropped or just shouldn't have passed QA. Definitely a candidate for repair/replacement.
By the way, if this happened even after 28 days you would still be covered by warranty...no matter what some dodgy resellers say

Oh of course, but the regular warranty process is to repair the phone. Being so new, I'd want a replacement.
For what it's worth, I posted a message asking about this same fault a couple of weeks ago but with no replies. I emailed HTC and they said it was probably a hardware fault and to either send it to them for repair or contact my supplier (O2). I spoke to O2 and they suggested that it might be because my SIM card is a few years old and suggested trying a new one. I thought this was worth a go so they sent me a new card but the screen still becomes unresponsive and the fault also survives a reset. In fairness to O2, they are now sending me a replacement unit which should arrive on Monday.

The same thing happened to me. I think it was because I left it in my hot car. HTC fixed the problem, for free, inside warranty, and just sent me back my phone 2 days ago. It's even got a brand new screen. NO SCRATCHES>

I sent my back and the first time it came back and worked for a week and then stopped working completely. I sent it back a second time, they paid for shipping and ordered a new screen and replaced the old. Nice thing, I bought the phone used and the warranty was still intact.
Dispite my clear letter that described the problem that has plagued the phone for months and recently got so bad its almost un-usable other than texting they returned with FW update! I pointed them to their thread on SE support problems with all the x10s with overheating/reboot issue and explained the problem started during 1.6 through over 4 FW updates and I had already returned the phone to factory before sending it! even left it to play the setup menu when they turned it on! so 2 weeks wait for nothing. Anyone know any way to get though to them to either replace the handset or the board? Im not sending it back again for the same. If I had a laptop with faulty hardware they wouldnt return it with a re installed OS! Very annoying they clearly didnt follow what I wrote on replicating the issue, easiest way is try use any type of GPS nav the phone cuts out within 1min and wont boot back up for 5min unless the batterys been taken out!
They also flashed back to Orange FW when I had global generic on the handset lol
Hi everyone! Unfortunately, my run with my T-Mobile G2 appears to be nearing it's end.. I've had this phone since November of last year, so fortunately for me, I'm still within the 1-yr warranty. I couldn't find a legit answer on the forum so far so hopefully someone will have the information I need to know now.
Lately, my phone has been getting crazy. Sometimes it would start pressing random things by itself. Apps would start by itself, things would type by itself, etc, etc. Then, at times certain areas of my screen wouldn't work at all, most noticeably the "y," "b," and "h" on my keyboards. And this doesn't matter whether I'm using the stock Gingerbread keyboard or Swype.
To answer any questions, yes I am rooted and I have been running CM 7.0.2. I tried to flash 7.0.3 to see if that would correct my issue but it didn't. I also tried to reset the phone via Privacy within the Android UI and via Recovery, both with no avail.
My question to y'all is how can I fix this if at all? If this problem is not fixable, can someone provide me with the MOST SIMPLE guide as to how to unroot and restore my original T-Mobile stock ROM if necessary for me to send it to claim warranty.. Finally, if I resorted to claiming warranty, does anyone know if T-Mobile will be sending me a refurb G2 or a new one or a completely different one?? Thanks ... This is EXTREMELY UNFORTUNATE.
it happens to me plenty. keep the scroll pad on the side from changing angles in direct light or it goes nuts. if theres any water on the screen at all touch commands work funny. its errors in the optical touchpad and cpacitive screen technology, not the;phone itself.
edit: im stock if youre wondering
It happens even in the dark though. I think its problem with the screen.
Any word on this? the same thing is happening to my phone.
Hui,
I was also having this problem for some time and was reallythinking of replacing the phone until I finally got rid of this last week. To start with I think this is a software issue but I'm still not sure what sw is causing this. n order to fix it I had to install the rom again from scratch and did not restore anything from google. Because independent from whatever ROM I installed the issue appeared soon after I set up the phone. So if you wnt to give it try, do a clean ROM install or factory reset to your phone and then while setting up your device uncheck the option to backup and restore settings to your google account. I know that setting up everything manually does not sound great but it's better than the crazy touch screen.
Digitizer issues
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App
Digitizer issues, T-Mobile just replaced my original release date G2 because of it.
They will send you a refurbished model and you have to send yours back in within 7 days or they bill you $400 I believe.

I had serious digitizer issues last month and thought for sure that my G2 was finished. Come to find out I had gotten some oil on my phone, probably from answering a text or phone call while eating at work. I took it out of its case and completely cleaned it with a cloth dampened with peroxide...not soaked just damp, and now my phone is back to normal. Give that a try and rule that out first before you replace the digitizer or phone. Make sure you clean the inside and outside of the case/skin if you have one too.
I finally figured mine out. I guess the digitizer is really really sensitive to moisture. I usually take my phone into the bathroom with me when I shower in the morning, once I stopped doing that and gave the phone some time to dry out (in a dessicant container, but rice would work just as well) my screen is back to normal. I guess the steam from the shower was enough to bring up some bugs.
I just purchased this phone and I am having a problem with the touchscreen not working correctly, at seemingly random times (but very often). The screen, as well as the capacitive buttons, will freeze up and I have to lock/unlock the screen for them to work again. Sometimes it will freeze up after only one touch after the screen is unlocked, other times it can be a good ten minutes of working fine. I've tried factory resetting it and the issue is still there.
If its that new try a factory data reset. settings/ privacy/ factory data reset. If it doesn't solve it return it and get a new one.

I tried that already but the problem persists. I would return it but I've already had to return one for a different problem and would not like to do that again as the seller doesn't pay for return shipping and it took about two weeks for me to get the replacement, especially if I am just going to get another phone with issues.
I had a simmalar problem took it to the store I got it from and they sent it to Motorola and 1week later I got it back with replaced screen and internals. Worked good ever since.
Ps Mabey third time will be the charm.
I guess it's just a hardware problem then? I might hold onto it for a bit and then if it gets worse I'll send it to Motorola since the factory warranty should cover it, right? (last night it's been a little better since I took out my sd card, I'm not sure if it's just a coincidence though)
Hey all,
I have a galaxy s7 edge that's 2 months old. It's randomly freezing which is forcing me to do a hard reset or rebooting. I have done a factory restart by the settings, I have done a factory restart by holding the power, home and volume up key and lastly I have done a smart switch emergency thingy-me-bob.
The phone has never been rooted or messed around with in that matter and was working flawlessly up until this point. It's running all the latest updates you can get OTA - My next step tomorrow is to go into store for them to essentially repeat what I have done for several months...wondering if anyone here has any ideas of anything else I could try? Hoping it isn't a hardware defect.
Cheers,
Tom
Had exactly the same issue. Ran it in safe mode and it still froze. Factory reset - still the same problem. Sent it off to Samsung and got it back a few days ago along with the usual note explaining that the fault had been identified, latest software had been installed and it had passed through quality control. Went through setup and within an hour it was freezing again. Not convinced Samsung did anything other than re-flash the firmware and send it back. I'm guessing that this is a hardware issue, as I have read many posts with people experiencing the same issue. It's going back tomorrow so they can try again, with a note in the box, politely asking them to dig a little deeper....
Did another factory reset and it's frozen while on the always on display svtren. Think I'll be leaving a note asking them to do a physical hardware check!
You have latest software?
As per the original post, everything is running on latest.
Any way, visited the 'Geek squad' who informed me that I had done a factory reset wrong *sigh* restarted it infront of me and would you believe it! crashed. They're now sending it to Samsung to look at who I assume will just flash it again.
Very very disappointed with the edge, compared to my OP3T it's so sluggish.
had the same problem. had to send mine to samsung. there was something wrong with the partitioning i think but in some way odin couldn't fix
Fingers crossed it's something like that is wrong with mine!
I have exactly the same problem.
I'm in aus, and bought the phone from HK, so I'm a bit reluctant to send it back to HK/China.
I've done everything... but still the same.

From what I have read, it sounds like a hardware issue. The guy are the store was an utter moron but he did say the harder it is to the fix the more likely they are to just give me a new phone. Once i get it back ill share what they've done and see if it can help fix your issue.
Mine does reboot from time to time. Once a day, once a week...
Sometimes reboots when it stands alone on charging, sometimes in my pocket. I just realizes when my smartwatch vibrates to advert lost bluetooth conection.
Lastest firmware. I´ll probably will send to warranty.
I just recently got the S7 Edge. Great phone I just hates when it does that.
