Well according to Amy-B, the mouthpiece over at Dell's Community forum, US users of the beta's and unlocked versions will be receiving the updates first. Well, today marks day three of the rollout, and I have not received anything. I frequently check the update site, like an expectant father in the waiting room, and there's been nothing.
Has anyone in the US, and more specifically, any of the beta testers in the Austin/San Antonio market, received anything for update?
If anyone should have been marked first for update, it should have been those of us carrying the unit from that beta test.
Do you really think that the upgrade would be released and no one post about it?
We do not need another thread about the update so i will close it
Hey all. I am curious, are you guys all getting Froyo by doing a manual update??? I am trying the UPDATE FIRMWARE option (currently on DI18) and getting a message that I am on the latest version.
If you search the forums a bit you will find your answer.

Milkman, I'm in the same boat - been searching forums, seems like folks who want OTA will have to wait.

dude above is hinting for the manual update of the OTA released update. I am on 18 also waiting for OTA. If I didn't have hw id go for it. I just dont have time if i brick my phone in the process.
Thanks Big. I wish the other reply was more helpful, like maybe a link or something. I love how people tell you to search when you already did...
I may just do the update using clockwork, but was hoping to do OTA.
I will holdout a little longer to see if it magically appears on OTA.
The comment was referring to the fact that this has been extensively covered already in the forum. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=861213 has the instructions on how to apply the OTA update to a stock Epic.
The official OTA hasn't been released by Sprint/Samsung yet, DK28 is just the most likely final release.
The instructions above will show you how to update, I updated my wife's stock Epic last night with no issues.
thank you elite, as a new android user this isn't really apparent, even from the bulk of that thread - that this isn't an official OTA sprint release.
There are folks that are reporting they got froyo from an OTA update, which counters your information. I wonder how true or untrue that is.
If sprint hasnt released the official froyo then why are users getting it OTA. I call bs on your statement.
yep, I second that call mbkowns.
The OTA was being pushed to specific test phones, with the Hardware version D700.0.4
No one has determined how those got in the wild, almost everyone has version .5
The update was only pushed to the .4 phones, again this is all in the dev section.
if that is the case, then how do folks know that its the 'official' froyo release? I can see that the dl link is from an authoritative source, but its not telling.
i.e. if its not available to all subscribers then its not a release, right?
It is not the official release, just a possible release candidate that was sent to the .4 phones only.
Basically, a guy last night noticed that Di18 updated to DK28 and posted it here. after several hundred posts, we all realized that it was only for .4 phones. Those are supposedly developmental phones that got released with the mainstream .5 phones. How? We do not know.
But since it was an OTA for those phones, a ton of folks have assumed that it was the final official release.
Either way, I ODINed my old DG27, got gps fix in Maps, then ODINed the latest. It's not a bad process, just touchy, and since then I've enjoyed the best Froyo ROM yet.
I hope this helps.

It is not the official release from sprint to the general public, it is a release candidate that they will let devs test for a few days. If devs report no issues they will start the official OTA release.
Sent from my Epic using XDA App.
thats great info, I fear however that due to the reportings of xda and engadget, etc.. that most folks will or have interpreted this event as an official sprint release of froyo. I am in no particular hurry for froyo on my epic but as this news has panned out it has caught my and others attention in an apparent dubious way - surely due the reportings and not in any way of the xda members.
if this is true, this is an important point that folks should be aware of *before* doing their own joyous upgrade - meaning that if sprint didn't bless this code they shouldn't expect it to be the final real thing.

Quick guys! sign this petition so that it get delivered to motorola..fill the meter asap..!!share ti on your fb walls..and tag your friends..!quick friends..!:fingers-crossed:
Its gonna get updated regardless of you signing this petition or not.
? Lollipop going out, just have to wait
Stop being so impatient, Motorola has already promised Lollipop.
Many, MANY other phones wont get it so think yourself lucky.
Making petitions to force Motorola to do it quickly doesn't help the situation.
If you want Lollipop quickly then buy a phone that has it already.
You are ridiculous, no one is gonna support you.
This is no different than asking a developer to release the ROM quickly. If it was about releasing Kernel source, then it would've made sense. Motorola has a good track record of being developer friendly. And if they're delaying Lollipop release, then it means the work is not done yet. So all we have to do now is sit back and enjoy your stable Kitkat. Lollipop will come as a surprise one day just like it landed on Moto G. Asking any ETA is not gonna help at all too.

We will get it, Motorola has officially said this so why these crapy petitions
You need to have patience
It is being delayed so we get a stable release
Edit: I saw the petition what if it is fully signed. What it will do (nothing)
Moreover they don't ask for email conformation so any fake mail and name can work lol
You don't need supports for that just enter any name and mail and try yourself. I did 4 signatures but no verification
I think u should change the petition subject and make it for Kernel source... Because our devs are having ROM ready... Only thing we want is kernel source and once kernel sources are out , we won't need to bother about Motorola update....

ok..thanks..changing it
can anyone provide me the email to the motorola support team or ceo?i tried almost everywhere..but in vain
Bloody hell just drop it, the CEO isn't going to care that you are demanding they release it RIGHT NOW when they've already promised the update.
As others have mentioned I don't see the point in having a petition for Android L on the Moto E when Moto themselves have already said that they will be rolling it out here. Just because you haven't received it yet does not mean it is not coming. As mentioned have some patience, a petition will not get you the update any quicker...

The droid turbo soak test was weeks ago.. Why aren't the rest of us getting an update of some kind. I don't care if it's a patch or 5.0, can someone just tell me why there hasn't been an update for the masses yet?

Again, does that confirm that the soak took place already? The Maxx users are saying their soak test was put on hold. Maybe it was for the Turbo as well?

I received the surveymonky email on Jan 28th., but what I think happened was they were originally gonna soak test 5.0 or 5.0.2 and then when google release 5.1 they changed their minds to just release 5.1 as the first lollipop update to the turbo. I could be wrong but it does seem like something changed, because normally there isn't this much of a gap between surveymonkey email and actual soak.
It got delayed. They ran into a few things last week, whether its bugs or VZ approval. Should see it later this week or early next week.

Its probably because there not allowed to say anything about something they may know about the thing they can't talk about, this would also include reveling sources about where said something was obtained.

Same here in Germany
I am in the Droid Turbo soak test personally. Let me say this, we know just as much as you do. A Motorola engineer recently made a post that they were facing delays and that he could not provide any further details. But they were working as hard as they could to bring us a release. For this delay, I REALLY hope it's Android 5.1. Otherwise, my image of Motorola's speed will be tarnished. Practically every flagship now is currently/has already gotten the update to Lollipop.
For maxx should arrives soon

did u have more details??
maybe u received some email )) ^^ ??
u have Brasil or Puerto Rico version?
Honestly, I'm a little disappointed. One of the reasons I bought this phone was due to Motorola's timely software updates. Besides a few moto software tricks there's really nothing different. I know some people will say "don't buy a phone for what it might do," or "We want a stable build with no bugs." Seeing as most of their flagship phones and even budget phones are on 5.0 or higher, I'm disappointed. I get that Verizon has a big role in this but the Droid lineup seems to always to be in good favor with Verizon, but this is starting to get frustrating.

Thanks! I had no idea that the soak was delayed. I thought they had delivered it to people and for some reason it was not getting pushed out to the rest of us. I am all for giving motorola time to squash all the bugs they need to, but I feel like they could be a little a bit more transparent.
If Motorola is trying to push 5.1, and anyone working there is reading this, thank you! I cannot imagine how frustrating it must be a developer at Motorola right now. This company has changed hands multiple times since the 18 month development cycle of this phone (thanks to Verizon's rules). These devs have likely been working day and night to produce a stable build of lillipop for Motorola's flagships devices, all while Google employees, formerly co-workers of these Motorola developers, have simultaneously been doing the same for the base lollipop build with significantly better resources at their disposal and without a time crunch. Just as these Motorola devs have made 5.0 stable 5.1 comes along fixing many of the issues that delayed 5.0 on our devices to begin with. Much of Motorola's dev work and code is thrown out in favor of using what Google provided in 5.1 and now these poor devs still have to work to make 5.1 work knowing that with each passing day every user is getting more frustrated with you.
THANK YOU DEVS, we appreciate you, and we understand. Be proud of the work you do, like those of you that worked on the original DROID, who felt confident enough to mold MOTOROLA ENGINEERING into the plastic under the batter cover. I hope to see the fruits of your labor soon.

This type of discussion should be kept in the Blackberry Beta Zone forums and not here. If you are part of the beta program then you can read a lot of posts about how other users in the Beta are not happy with those that are leaking because it can cause a complete shutdown of the Beta Program as it did with the BB 10 Beta. So we don't end up with what is going on at CrackBerry I recommend that the mods lock this thread as any posts about the beta violate the NDA that we all in the program signed.
Why would be any NDA on a beta testing?

I am sure that if Blackberry wanted to fully stop them... they would under the NDA. They have done this in the past with leakers. All I am stating is that people who participate in a program with an NDA should follow the rules. People that don't follow the rules are the ones that ruin it for everyone else and normally the first ones to complain about something being taken away. This is because they don't get to be a hero and post information.
Please keep communications about the Beta in the Beta Zone. This way we don't lose the ability for future testing of software from Blackberry, like they did with BB10.
I want to add that the reason there is an NDA is so people don't release a copy of the OS, screenshots and other data. That is because this is a Beta and Blackberry was nice enough to let users test it and have input into what they would like to see in the OS and find bugs that need to be fixed. Blackberry could have done like a lot of other OEMs and kept everything internal until release.
My stance on this is that we have not received anything from RIM about this being copyrighted, or a C&D or anything of the sort.
If someone agrees to an NDA, then that is between them and the entity with whom they agree on an NDA.
But according to the link provided in the OP, it says nothing about anything being confidential in any way, nor does it preclude our forum users from discussing it.
So we will watch the thread but right now I see no reason to close it or take action on it.
Public Release
http://www.marketwired.com/press-re...n-android-marshmallow-nasdaq-bbry-2118387.htm
Android 6.0.1 has been public released by BB. Still delayed for carrier purchased devices but if you have a non-carrier purchased device you should start getting it. The beta program will still go on. So if you want to join you can.
Telus also shaduled MM for priv and the date decided is may 3
This is my first time coming back to the forums in a while after upgrading from my old Droid 4. I just got a notification on mine about a system update. I take it this is the Marshmallow upgrade. My Priv is Verizon branded. I'll go ahead and install it.
Edit: Still running 5.1.1. Not too sure what all was updated.

I would say no as Verizon devices are not in the Beta. I would say that might be a security update. Blackberry has been great in sending out the security updates.
BlackBerry expands their Android beta program to include BlackBerry-authored apps
To anyone else in the UK with an unlocked Priv from CPW (STV100-4), like me who is fed up of waiting for the OTA Marshmallow update. I followed the instructions on BB's official support page here to install MM: http://uk.blackberry.com/content/bl...pport/smartphones/blackberry-PRIV/reload.html
Does involve a factory reset though but works great

Got the OTA Marshmallow update today (STV100-4 one from CPW in the UK). Gone from the manually flashed version above (Android 6.0.1 Build AAE570) to the OTA version (still 6.0.1 AAF057), not spotted any changes yet other than now having the June 1st security patch included.
I also got this update yesterday. For me it improved performance quite a bit and battery life seemed to be better, as far as I can tell from a few hours of usage.
But my annoying problem with the phone randomly not deep sleeping anymore, being awake permanently until a reboot and draining my battery is still there.
