Just installed Froyostone's ROM (WOW) - New to Android questions

OK, I just installed the latest Froyostone android and WOW ! This is quite incredible, it's a fully functional Android on my HD2 ! Runs even faster than WM !
I didn't find any bugs yet...
Few questions..
1. Does this run from the SD ? Or did it install to the main device ROM when I first launched it ?
2. What does that mean in terms of rooting, getting in recovery, etc ? Do I need to "root" it ? How do I get in Recovery to type all sorts of commands that I see on guides ?
3. From what I can see, appstore apps install to the root SD card - That can get messy.. any way around it ?
4. Is EVERYTHING related to Android on my HD2 inside the "Android" folder in the SD card ?
5. Top 5 apps to install for a fresh Droid HD2 ?
6. Any other useful words for a beginner ?
7. Is it safe to charge in Android ?
8. I always have to boot WM first to launch Android right ?

From what I can see, appstore apps install to the root SD card - That can get messy.. any way around it ? nope, but I always make a backup of my SD card, you get used to seeing all kinds of folders, but you can still run your WM and android with the same SD card no problem, just make sure before adding a new Android build, start with a fresh formatted SD, then install android, then drag and drop all your other files back onto the SD card.
4. Is EVERYTHING related to Android on my HD2 inside the "Android" folder in the SD card ? Nope will be all over the place
5. Top 5 apps to install for a fresh Droid HD2 ? Setcpu, angry birds demo, Laputa reader, radiotimeplayer, Swype keyboard
6. Any other useful words for a beginner ? play about, enjoy the marketplace, its not 100% perfect yet, but getting there.
7. Is it safe to charge in Android ? yep

Re #2 - I mean in some Android tutorials I see you can input command lines etc, to change system settings, while in "recovery mode"
How do I get to " android recovery mode" with the HD2 ? No biggie though.
Re #3, Do you just Backup your stuff (Music, books, etc) and then, before installing new Android, do you just format and put the new Android folder on there ? You totally discard the application folders and start clean ?
I see there is a way to backup some of the settings in the sticky, so I will read it.
SetCPU I assume is to lock the Leo on it's max speed, like LeoCPUSpeed for WM- Nice.

#2 the ROMs are already rooted, all you need is a terminal emulator from the market.

I am trying to install a pre-made script (exe), it should install some stuff automatically (lang, keyboard etc) and the guy who made it says you must run it in recovery mode for it to work.
How do I use the script on my HD2 ?

i really confuse right now, i read all thread bout app2sd for 3 day, and i still can't get app2sd work on my xperia x8.
i rooted with superoneclick, installed xrecovery, done partitioning. can any dev or someone help me please.
im using eclair 2.1 on x8.
i tried app2sd with xrecovery many times.
where might i've gone wrong?
if possible, please post me a more noobish tutorial because, i having a really hard time installing these.

worked for me!

when i enter cmd
type cd /adb
it says
the system cannot find the path specified
whats wrong then??

you must enter superoneclick folder to acces adb.exe.
ex : "c:\superoneclick\adb shell" will work.

i'm done installinng it, but when i search and install an app from the market, my internal memory decrease.
did i done anything wrong here?
i have attach a pic from dos.

ok, i'm waiting to see what happenes here....as we can't have the 2.2 update i need apps to sd.

and 20% of it in internal memory...

Did you install the one that moves dalvik cache to card? I think it's pretty normal then. Mine is also like that.

Otherwise cache is created into phone.

install back with 'app2sd mod (dalvik cache to sd) zip' into the root of my sd card right?

I guess so. It's your call. Check also in Android Development threads. use search There were some similar problems.

after i successfully instaled app2sd, which my internal memory is 156 mb after i reinstall all my apps, my x8 cannot connect wifi....

Im new here , and Ive read the how to threads but nothing help me ,
I have a htc tattoo fastweb italia unlocked and I cant root my tatto to get the recovery mode using rtattoo , it say somthing like no space availble , when restating to recovery using power+voldown I cant get the recovery options

yes I used that how to from theunlockr step by step (except the gold card, cause its not needed) and the DOS window show error writing image to device NO SPACE LEFT !!! thats my problem and I have a lot of space on the sdcard and tel memory !!

you have to make gold card
keep in mind u have all permission for SD card(read write) root explorer app will give you all permissions
in rtattoo a folder sdcard all files of it put on your sdcard root & dont use su file from there get it from this postor click here

maybe its not needed(goldcard) but i would recommend doing one if your phone could brick.than its your last chance.but if youd dont want than its your desicion.
what i would recommend is to clean your cache.it could be that its full.

How to back up and change roms without screwing up?

Hi i just rooted my legend... was a hell of a ride because i encountered a lot of problems which most of noobs like me have encountered it while experimenting with the rooting process...
i was already stock OTA 2.2 with HBOOT 1.01...
Read several guides to get comfortable and prepared for the journey... in the end , i spent over 6 hrs to get it done... All the problems that ppl have been having boils down to the goldcard... i knew about it but never knew what to expect because in the downgrading step the gold card was not an issue and in the rooting process, it was!
im glad this part is over... i was able to flash the blayo's rom .
Now i feel like trying out new roms, so here's the questions:
1. I have TiBackUp PRO and the Free ROM Manager. Already backed up the Blayo's ROM
2. If i want to try the CM as so many others are doing to try Gingerbread... Is it a matter of going into ROM Manager and choose the CM versions?
3. How do i reload all my apps and settings without redoing everything manually?
4. If the CM is screwed up and doesnt boot, can i just go to recovery and flash a back up?
I just want to make sure i can try new roms without having to reset up all apps like wifi, gmail account...etc
Also, if the CM are buggy and doesnt allow my phone to booot if there is a way to reload my stable blayo rom?

sorry i got no answer for you ... but the same think i want to try and i would like to know if and how is that possible ... to return on old rom with all app what we add Manuel . before we try new rom and did not like it..

QkSi1ver: nandroid is a part of your solution for you! That can backup and restore any ROM as a whole thing. Or you can restore only part (/system for instance...)
The other problem might not be solvable, as you will be going from one ROM to a whole differrent one...B08.4 and CM7 are completely different and I dare say no backup program will backup all apps and their data so it would work with such transition (tried Titanium, MyBackup and some other apps...) You can port contacts, messages, calendar evens, but you'd have to set up all you need.
Also there are programs that can batch-install your favorite apps, but you'd still have to set those up

Just counting posts
For QkSi1ver : I use "Tit..Backup and root " and I'm pleased with it
It can backup and restore " ... Whole app + data ..."
However u have to setup something like Google account and other manually ant to install TitBackup manually as well . Be sure whenever backup or restore to check " App+Data "
Finally the most important ( for me at least ) - the phonebook : I allways store it in my G--account . Good luck .
P.S. : At least u have a sheet of paper and a pencil for the phonenumbers an free time for setting up your phone again

P.S.2 : Be aware that some apps , backed up from one ROM may not work ( or even install ) properly to another , don't know why - should ask someone smarter

im just getting used to the ROm Manager and the CWM recovery that was installed through ROM Manager...
Correct me if i'm wrong.. if i happen to install onf oe the CM Nightlies and it doesnt boot into the OS, i would still be able to access the bootloader , into the CWM recovery which was intalled with ROM Manager and then load up my back up ROM from blayo right?

Until you update to an uprooted ROM you should be able to access CWM recovery
An advice : use BlaY0's fake flash if you are S-on . It is smoother and easy to use

I thought FakeFlash has been renamed to ROM Manager and was one and the same (since both were written by the same dev right?)

All I do is move personal ( downloaded ) apps to SDcard And I worry no more for the free space . At least I don't see why some buddys need so much free space .

I thought i had enough space too... until i started finding new tools available to root users...on top of my usual cant-live-wo
igo (30MB), camera 360 (6mb), swype (5mb) ..etc it runs out pretty quick

" Titanium Backup and Root " has a batch that moves any app that you install ( beside the system ones ) onto SD card .

Is this because you don't have an SD card? I don't see any point in attempting to run NAND Android without an SD card to be honest.
If this is the case I would advise you to buy one. Without one you will have barely any space for apps and stuff, and you may as well stick to windows if you aren't going to use any apps on android.

i'm reading some experience from members here , and i'm see some bugs reporting from members , for that then i'm afraid if i get any error during install OS android on Leo HD2.

Don't be scared...
When you will begin installing android for the HD2 you will first install a bootloader-program (MAGLDR) that manages everyting for your phone. After that you will install the actual rom from your sd-card with a program inside your bootloader-program (Clockworkmod). If this failes in any way you still have the bootloader-program installed which you can use to try install a different rom.
In case everyting fails you can always start your phone in the real bootloader (vol-down + power on) and install the original windows mobile 6.5 rom with USB to go back to the original situation. (keep in mind you still have a hacked HSPL then)
The reason why you'd want to install roms from your sd is that all the best roms right now are only available in zip-packages which need to be installed from your sd. Just follow this guide:
